McConnell Says Congress Moving Ahead With $12 - $15 Billion To Build Trump's Wall"

Tyler Durden's picture

Trump's Mexican border wall from improbable is rapidly becoming imminent. First, it was Paul Ryan telling Greta Van Susteren that he is prepared to pay $8-$14 billion for Trump's "massive wall"...

... and now he has support in the Senate, where Mitch McConneell has said Congress is moving ahead with $12 billion - $15 billion to build border wall.

It appears Congress is unaware that Trump has renewed his push to get Mexico to pay for the wall.

That said, it is funny how the price suddenly just jumped: did Congress just realize the "wall" is just a different name for Congress' favorite term, "pork"?

just cancel a few aircraft carrier orders and it's paid for.

This wall will be like the Hoover Dam.......massive public works that is intended to kickstart the economy (and will at least to some extent).  Too bad it didn't happy after 2008 though because it would have been money much better spent that bailing out banks underwater.

NoDebt's picture

That wall could be the only thing I would willingly and gladly pay taxes to build.  Mexico pays?  Who gives a shit?  Build the fucker.

you can check in, but you can't check out!

1) Steal the acquired wealth of all White Run countires. Destroy the middle class, destroy all white culture, demonize whites, Christians, heterosexuals

2) Flood all white countries with muslims, wetbax and all the scum Israel would never take.

3) Instigate a nuclear war with Russia, the last FREE WHITE RUN COUNTRY...because they won't commit suicide by INVADER!

4) ALL White countires Nuke each other, white problem solved, GREATER ISRAEL AND THE JOO WORLD ORDER CAN NOW FLOURISH!

Bwana's picture

Shouldn't that be you can't check in but Trump will check you out?

Humpty Tumpty built a great wall,
Humpty Tumpty had a great ball;
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Mexico together again.

Maybe they could have another go at trying to locate some more of the missing US$2.3 trillion. I believe at last count around US$1.2 trillion has been tracked in he last 15+ years, but around US$1 trillion is still unaccounted for. Has anyone checked down the back of the sofa?

wait a minute, didn't THE GREAT PUMPKIN just TWEET that Congress was going to Pony up 20 BILLION FOR THE WALL?

Did he mean the Mexican Congress?

MisterMousePotato's picture

Lot of discussion below about how to pay for it.

Hm. How 'bout this?:

I volunteer.

I'll do it for free.

I envision an army of several million pissed off Americans with a stone cold determination.

Anyone else notice that the pictures of the signing ceremonies of Donald Trump (and those behind him) are not the fag giggle fests we've been subjected to for decades? These are serious people with an agenda.

When Donald Trump signs something and smiles, we'll know he's done all he can.

The naysayers have never been to Egypt, I assume.

Citxmech's picture

What I want to know is who's going to build this thing?

Haliburton?  Some subsidiary of a business run by Ivanka?

MisterMousePotato's picture

How 'bout the contractor who fixed the freeways after the San Francisco earthquake?

How 'bout the Chinese? Saw them build an entire city from scratch in two weeks.

How 'bout our military? Or the Israelis?

How 'bout ... who cares?

If the price to get it done is a bag of cash to the Trumps or the Clintons, well, I can't say I don't care, but I do care less than I do about what happens if the invasion isn't stopped.

Citxmech's picture

FWIW, CalTrans "fixed" the roads after Loma Prieta, and it took them friggen 8 years to almost finish the job.  Some of the most incompetant managment I've ever seen in CA, and that's saying something.

Regarding "who cares?" who gets the gig - seems like a great investment opportunity for someone, don't you think?

MisterMousePotato's picture

I can't speak to all of it, but there was one stretch of freeway overpass in the downtown area where the contractor finished months early and under budget.

Citxmech's picture

Of course the irony is that we'll end up paying for it pretty much no matter what.

If tax revenue is used, we pay directly;

If the printing press/debt is used to pay, we pay through inflation; adn

If Mexico pays, the costs will end-up being traferrerd to the US citizen through higher labor, auto and food prices, etc.

What were the odds that after bankrupting themselves winning the Cold War,

America would give a Russian president the opportunity to proclaim in the name of freedom,

"Mr President, tear down this wall"

ultraticum's picture

Stop the unconstitutional foreign aid to Israel, and wall-ah, the wall is paid for.

Citxmech's picture

Only difference is that the Berlin Wall wasn't buit around Russia to keep non-Russians out.

heuvosYbacon's picture

No. For a start it would be Humpty Trumpty. Secondly, the existential angst of the ZH readership precludes a second ryhming couplet. Like this:

Humpty Trumpty promised a wall,

Humpty Trumpty showed us his balls,

All the kings horses and all the kings men,

Told Mexico to get fucked.

Wall money will come from what he cuts from Sanctuary cities, there are 300 of them.

TheMeatTrapper's picture

The bricks to build the wall will be free. The libtards are shitting them by the ton every day.

Mr. Schmilkies's picture

Pink Floyd already made the wall.

This wall is better. It's going to be a beautiful wall.

He was sneaking about.

Just make sure Congress throughly cooks that pork before eating.

Nobodys Home's picture

They'll cook it. (8 billion missing from wall appropriations)

Mcconnell has that whole 90lbs of cocaine on his in-laws ship and today...were building that wall. Probably not a coincedence but still the timing is funny

Creating jobs pork is much better then Obama's welfare pork.

If you build it, they won't come.

Hey, watch your mouth.  You don't get to talk to Canada like that.  Only we get to talk to Canada like that.

Attitude_Check's picture

So in your world there are no ships?  So all the Canadians are just Eskimos  living in igloo eating seals and Caribou?   I'm sorry,  you really should leave Moms basement more often.

NidStyles's picture

Just like in your world the US public isn't the most armed populace on the planet and the largest free standing military as well.

The US is only threatened by passive unarmed peasants and "gangsters" as they are not direct action combatants.

These same people are also easy to deal with using a wall and a policing force to keep them out.

MisterMousePotato's picture

"BUILD A WALL around yourself and it becomes a PRISON"

What a fucking stupid thing to say. Like the stupid fucking bumper stickers on pink Priuses: "We will survive," "Wish womyn had the same rights as guns," etc.

I have a wall around my house. Well, a fence, anyway.

I am free to come and go as I please.

And to shoot any motherfucker who steps inside my fence.

Ignatius's picture

The wall is symbolic and is expensive bullsh#t.

Haul to jail the CEOs and seize assets of those companies who knowingly hire undocumented workers.

Ignatius's picture

I'm gonna guess you're not a Christian.

TheMeatTrapper's picture

I am, and I agree with him. Neither The Bible nor the Constitutuion are suicide pacts. Grow up. Christians are under no obligation to let criminals break into their homes, rob, rape and murder them and do nothing in self defense. What's your next strawman?

Ignatius's picture

Crossing the border seeking work is not the same as "break(ing) into their homes, rob, rape and murder," now is it?  And you lecture me about "strawmen?"

No, I don't think people should just be gunned down in cold blood, and I think a true Christian sensibilty (nor any other moral framework) supports that conclusion.

What?   No jobs in Mexico?    Why?      U.S. jobs for Americans.  Mexico jobs for Mexicans.

ejmoosa's picture

It is robbing the American taxpayer who has been here for years and years, paying taxes, building schools and serving in the military to protect and defend our nation.

Can I move into one of your spare bedrooms?  I realize your house has been paid for by you.  But I am just in your community seeking some work.

You won't mind, right?

silverthorn's picture

Why are there no jobs in Mexico?

MisterMousePotato's picture

There are. In fact (most people don't know this), the overwhelming majority of illegals from Mexico quit jobs to sneak here and steal.

Their jobs don't pay as well is all.

And, they get to steal all the safety net they can lay their illegal hands on, which, in Mexico, is none.
