"It Looks Like A War Zone": Trump Vindicated After Violent Riot Erupts In Swedish Suburb

Tyler Durden's picture

As we reported last night, just days after the media mocked Trump for his allegations of major problems with Swedish migrant policies, the president was vindicated after a violent riot broke out in the borough of Rinkeby, also known as "little Mogadishu." Now that the incident is over, in their "post-mortem" Swedish officials confirm that riots erupted in the "heavily immigrant Stockholm suburb" Monday night, as masked looters set cars ablaze and threw rocks at cops, injuring one police officer, Swedish officials said.

The violence erupted just days after President Trump was ridiculed during a Saturday campaign rally for mentioning Sweden alongside a list of European targets of terror. Trump later said his “You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden” remark was in response to a Fox News report on the country’s refugee crime crisis that aired on Friday evening.

"Sweden. They took in large numbers [of refugees],” Trump added at the Florida rally. “They’re having problems like they never thought possible.”

Sweden’s official Twitter account – which is operated by a different user each week – tweeted at Trump on Monday morning: “Hey Don, this is @Sweden speaking! It’s nice of you to care, really, but don’t fall for the hype. Facts: We’re OK!”

Events just hours later refuted that optimistic assessment.

The violence in Rinkeby began around 8 p.m., when officers arrested a suspect at an underground station on drug charges, The Local reported. A group soon gathered, hurling rocks and other objects at officers and prompting one cop to fire his gun “in a situation that demanded he use his firearm,” police spokesman Lars Bystrom said.

Hours later, the Rinkeby riots began, with a second wave starting around 10:30 p.m. Seven or eight cars were set on fire and many stores saw looting, The Local reported. A photographer from media outlet Dagens Nyheter said a group of 15 people beat him as he tried to document the chaos. Swedish Police were forced to fire warning shots at the unidentified group of rioting protesters, who set cars on fire, throwing stones at police and looting local stores.

A police officer was injured during the clashes, forcing law enforcers to fire several warning shots at the crowd, Swedish public service broadcaster SVT reported, citing a local police spokesperson.

The silver lining is that “nobody has been found injured at the scene and we have checked the hospitals and there hasn’t been anyone with what could be gunshot wounds,” Bystrom added.

“I was hit with a lot of punches and kicks both to my body and my head. I have spent the night in hospital,” said the photographer, who was not named. "It looks like a war zone" he added.

The rioting ended just after midnight.

No arrests were made; however, reports were filed on three violent acts, violence against a police officer, two assaults, vandalism and aggravated thefts, authorities said.

Firefighters survey the scene in the suburb of Rinkeby where riots erupted on Monday night.

As we reported last night, Rinkeby is the same area where an Australian "60 Minutes" crew was attacked by a group of men in April 2016. The film crew was attempting to enter a so-called “no go zone,” which authorities deny they use as a label. Rinkeby, however, has been officially classified as one of 15 “particularly vulnerable” areas across Sweden.

The country's prime minister, Stefan Lofven, said Monday, "Yes, we have challenges like all other countries. There's no doubt. We have a situation in the world where 65 million people had to flee their countries last year, the year before that. 65 million. So that's a war for us together." He also said Sweden was investing more in housing, technology and its welfare system.

Reports of rapes in Sweden jumped 13 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year, and reports of sexual assaults were up 20 percent, according to preliminary data from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention. Recent migration to Sweden hit its peak in 2015 with more than 160,000 asylum applications. It dropped to almost 30,000 in 2016.

The mainstream media, so eager to mock Trump's "error" on Saturday, has been oddly delayed in reporting on last night's Swedish violence.

That's nothing.  You should see what we did to Syria.

Much worse.  What does this have to do with Sweden again?

What does this have to do with Sweden again?

If we hadn't destroyed MENA, then I find it unlikely that there would be so many MENA refugees in Europe.

Haus-Targaryen's picture

Sweden destroyed MENA?  That's news to me.

hedgeless_horseman's picture

It should be news, because I didn't say that.

By we, I mean mostly France, Israel, USA, UK, and KSA.

Consequences, bitchezzz!!!

Haus-Targaryen's picture

You associated "blowback" with "we" ... implying those suffering said blowback (namely Germany and Sweden) are part of this "we", which destroyed MENA.

I blame the US, the UK and France more than the NEURO nations.

Your thoughts?

Off topic - It looks like Obama pulled a $400 million weapons sale scam to Kenya on his last day in office.  The no-bid contract was awarded to a company who had NEVER built such equipment while ignoring a disabled vetran owned company who had made the planes previously at half the cost.  Sounds like Obama was expecting a favor sometime in his post-presidential life from the awarded company.

Because they riot 2 days after his comments is vindication?

Isn't that more like insighting violence ... encouraging? He gave them a rally cry

Let’s get real here. These riots are a backlash against the surging Islamophobia across Europe, which was only exacerbated by Trump’s proposed Muslim ban. This in no way represents Muslims as a whole, and it is both racist and Islamophobic to suggest that it does. Furthermore, this story is yet to be reported by any accredited media outlet, and until it is, it remains FAKE NEWS.

Kreskin, that's good... who remembers Kreskin?

Imagine if tens of thousands of Swedes were force-resettled in Iraq? Can you even imagine such a scenario? How welcomed would they be by the non-culturally suicidal Arabs?

Dr. Kevin MacDonald has a lot to say about the cultural differences between the clannish ethnocentric MENA societies and northern European societies. In self-defense obviously northern Europe will eventually be forced to react (some opportunistic hostile elitist in-groups will say over-react) to the destructive elements that have been injected.

Chief Wonder Bread's picture

*the non-culturally suicidal Arabs*

they even marry their fvking cousins!

(and not just the Arabs... another Semitic group as well)

Free Spirit's picture

Indeed he is. Now if he had said the same about Russia as what he said about Sweden and then that would happen a few days later many here would suspect foul play. Frankly speaking I believe it could be also in Swedens case. It would be interesting to find out who started the riot and why he did so.  These kinds of riots are not normal in Sweden although it´s true that we have some problems in certain areas where many immigrants live. Not as serious as in some other european countries though.

CurveBall's picture

From my understanding of the article, it started with police officers making a drug related arrest, when a group started throwing rocks at the police officers and they were forced to discharge there firearms in self defense, and a few hours later the riots started. Maybe I misinterpreted it.

Free Spirit's picture

I have not read exactly how the riot started but Your description sounds about right based on what I have read about the riot.

And ? Are You saying that if it started this way then the reason may not have been foreign interference ? If so, I beg to differ since the people in the riot were most likely not swedish descendants but probably children to immigrants with strong cultural influence from abroad. These  children of syrian or iraqi immigrants sometimes are influenced by ISIS propaganda. Quite a few has gone to Syria to join terrorist networks there. Obviously some of these people with certain political connections could have been among the stonethrowers. They could have acted as they did based on a plan with instructions and that plan may have come from a foreign intelligence group. AND Trump may have been briefed about what was to happen but somehow remembered it as something that happened "last night". In Trumps head I think there may sometimes not be too much difference between yesterday and tomorrow .... thus my conclusion that if he had said this about RUssia and that actually happened two or three days later then the Internet commentators would be quite suspicious that Trump had something to do with it. So why not in Sweden  as long as the incident is not deadly, at least ?

I know it´s a conspiracy theory, but his statement was very strange and otherwise IMO very difficult to explain. Can You explain it differently ? How ?

Any bets on whether this actually makes the news here in the US? They will cover Trump saying Sweden is having immigrant problems and castigate him on TV for saying it. But, will they backtrack on that statement by showing Sweden rioting? NO is the answer. It's a one-sided game they are playing. Trump needs to do something different with the media because this isn't working. He should start his own network or have someone else do it. Even Fox is playing fuck fuck with Trump.

The story you keep pushing has no real meat in it. Something newer and more indictment worthy would be great. Thanks.

Let me be the first to blame Russia. To support Trump, after hearing his Sweden comments Saturday the Russian KGB launched a psy-ops campaign Operation Suede Don on Sunday.  When you add back the 6 hour time difference you'll notice there was not a lot of time to organize this protest. it had to be a large politically connected organization to initiate this degree of response.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts are that treating the symptom, instead of the disease, seldom leads to a cure.

Haus-Targaryen's picture

Agreed completely.

This "refugee" problem would solve itself if the US would quit empire building.

I still have a hard time making the "blowback" connection in nations that didn't take part in destroying this part of the world.  I see these nations as victims of said empire building.

Sweden has made its own choices.

They are not victims.

Fools, maybe.

You guys miss a point, the rioters, rapists,  criminals don't see Swedes or Frenchman or Britains or Americans. They see white Christians, their enemy.

Sudden Debt's picture
True. They see white people and say: "I'm not rich and our society lives in the middle ages because they don't just give their money to us". Soccer is always a funny time to see how muslims are. They'll never support a European team, they'll always support the team that's playing against a european team. Give them a reason and they'll wave their own native flags. The only time they'll say they're european is when they ask for their handout. If they see a protest, they'll always join in and use the occasion to start to burn the place and steal whatever isn't nailed down. You're not supposed to be rascist but in my country, 80% hates them and doesn't want the near us. the only time we tolerate muslims is when they're less then 6 years old and still cute. But that's about the same as keeping a pig as a pet. they're cute when they're small but once they grow up, they'll take a shit everywhere in your house and just destroy anything on sight. Also, the government keeps saying that they're contributing to our society but all they do is running nightshops and pitta bars that deffy all health code regulations. I don't eat that shit and I buy my sigarettes at the gas station so I wouldn't miss them. There's muslims over here that live here for 3 to 4 generations already and they still don't speak our language... FUCK THAT!!! Generational wellfare leeches. And that kind of statistical information has be outlawed in my country because it might "cause rascist feelings"... yeah... rasicst... Most Europeans wear that label with proud.
Ghost of PartysOver's picture

OK, so I have a biased opinion.  But I also have one question:  Has Trump been proven wrong on any of these MSM assaults?

hedgeless_horseman's picture

Best not to impute the sins of a people's government to their respective populations

As an American, fortunately, I am sovereign.

Therefore, unfortunately, my government's sins are my sins.

This is why I work to change my government.

Your situation and beliefs may certainly differ.

Haus-Targaryen's picture

Quite simply, because governments are run by human beings, exactly like yourself and myself.

Due to their intrinsic humanity, their needs and desires are either consciously or subconsciously paramount to anything and everything else.

Thus, they seek to serve their own needs before that of their constituents. Selflessness is traditionally not an adjective associated with politicians.

Its why imputing the sins of a government to its population is a dubious endeavour, which is not normally grounded in analytical reflection of a specific situation but rather politically motivated to achieve goals which wouldn't otherwise be achievable, save for a population feeling a sense of guilt for their governments' transgressions.
