House Democrats Delayed Dismissal Of IT Staff 'Hackers' Because They Were Muslim American

Tyler Durden's picture

A month ago, three Muslim American brothers who managed office IT were barred from congressional computers (on suspicion that they accessed computers without permission). While many congressmen immediately relieved them of their duties, two House Democrats decided to delay the firing (until today) because their Muslim background, some with ties to Pakistan, could make them easy targets for false charges.

As we previously reported, the three brothers (Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan) who managed office IT for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers  were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

Three members of the intelligence panel and five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues, information and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.

The brothers are suspected of serious violations, including accessing members’ computer networks without their knowledge and stealing equipment from Congress.

The three men are “shared employees,” meaning they are hired by multiple offices, which split their salaries and use them as needed for IT services. It is up to each member to fire them from working...

While many congressmen did fire them immediately (and barred them from congressional systems), Politico reports that, one month after being barred from congressional systems, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) have finally fired the IT staff...

Meeks said he isn’t convinced Alvi and Imran Awan, both of whom worked in his office at different times, are involved in the alleged procurement scam but that Alvi was dismissed because the investigation was interrupting the day-to-day functions of his office.

“As of right now, I don’t see a smoking gun,” Meeks said. “I have seen no evidence that they were doing anything that was nefarious.”

Meeks said he was hesitant to believe the accusations against Alvi, Imran Awan and the three other staffers, saying their background as Muslim Americans, some with ties to Pakistan, could make them easy targets for false charges.

“I wanted to be sure individuals are not being singled out because of their nationalities or their religion. We want to make sure everybody is entitled to due process,” Meeks said.

“They had provided great service for me. And there were certain times in which they had permission by me, if it was Hina or someone else, to access some of my data.”

Fudge told Politico on Tuesday she would employ Imran Awan until he received “due process.”

“He needs to have a hearing. Due process is very simple. You don’t fire someone until you talk to them,” Fudge said.

On Wednesday, Lauren Williams, a spokeswoman for Fudge, wouldn’t provide details about Imran Awan’s firing but did confirm he was still employed in Fudge’s office as of Tuesday afternoon.

The bottom line is simple - these House Democrats decided it was better to be at risk of hacking and extortion than to be accused of racism.

And just for good measure, Politico reports that Awan has long-standing relationships with Meeks, Wasserman Schultz and Fudge. Meeks was one of the first lawmakers Awan worked for after coming to Capitol Hill in 2004. He joined Wasserman Schultz’s office in 2005 and started working for Fudge in 2008. In addition, Meeks and, to a larger extent, Wasserman Schultz, are said to have a friendly personal relationship with Awan and his wife, according to multiple sources. Awan made nearly $2 million since starting as an IT support staffer for House Democrats in 2004, according to public salary data. Alvi, who worked for House Democrats beginning in 2007, earned more than $1.3 million as an IT staffer during that time.

what kind of a name is fudge, anyway?

My first question is this...Why were

the three brothers (Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan) who managed office IT for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers...  (were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives)

they even allowed to be near a government computer in the first place? Oh that's right, there is no war on terror, except when we want to violate your daughter at the airport.

I probably sound racist to most progressives, except Islam isn't a race. Am I an Islamaphobe? You betcha. Their prophet and spiritual leader who talks to Allah was a pedophile , rapist, thief and muderer. If true then Allah is very, very mad at the rest of us.

I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do...

George Webb has connected all the dots on these brothers and a wife. I recommend watching his videos and passing them on for FULL EXPOSURE.

President TRUMP ... How many of these people are in the government? THEY MAY BE THE SOURCE OF YOUR WH LEAKS!!!

azusgm's picture

George Webb has been pounding the table for at least a week about the Awan brothers (and one wife) being the ones with access to the most sensitive information in the Congress. He is convinced that they are the leakers that got the Navy Seal killed. The people in Yemen were tipped off before the SEAL arrived. Women and children poured out blazing away.

He even had people tweeting the spox for the DC police today trying to get an investigation since the FBI hasn't arrested the Awans yet.

raspadinha's picture

very glad Webb is getting so much discussion on this thread.  the anomalies with these Awans are so striking, the kind of stuff the FBI doesn't miss if Webb is right (recent DWI, links to iranian nationals, all while making multiples of the median salary for their position, outside businesses) and they had SCI clearance so obviously the FBI took a long look at them.  Their story is interesting, possibly more interesting is who was clearing the path for them despite their obvious red flags.  I hope he is successful in drawing enough attention that they get a thoroughly investigated.  I don't know aything about Webb beyond his daily videos but the guy seems like a pitbull and has a hard on for the clintons, the clinton foundation, and dyncorp.

SoDamnMad's picture

And we wonder how we get out-maneuvered in foreign affairs and how American military technology appears replicated in China.

WillyGroper's picture

George Webb's vids 2day was asking why the feral bureau of incompetence wasn't arresting them & found out the dc police were in charge.

folks tweeted the hell out of them with his vid & after that they were fired.

Because no lying, thieving, treasonous piece of shit can be fired without first being found guilty in a court of law by a jury of their peers (plus years of appeals).  Until then, you have to keep them on the payroll.

You're right.  We're fucked.

But if overheard suggesting that illegal immigrants were perpetrating violent crimes, no adjudication would be necessary for their termination.

Yes, we ARE fucked.

Have you ever tried to get a job with the government while white and male? Good luck. During the post dot-com tech depression, when I was getting by on crap project work while living with my parents, I finally got desperate enough to apply for government jobs. All I got were rejection letters in the mail because I was a completely qualified white male.

Since then, when I've been on the hunt for work (not often these days - I usually have a few offers and around a 50% response rate from shops that aren't racist (Indian)), I'll sometimes apply just for the satisfaction of getting rejection letters. The private sector just doesn't do that anymore. I have over 20 years of experience in almost all aspects of tech, but the government would never hire a white male if there is any other option.

Oldwood's picture

Because of white privilege, you don't need a job, and even if you did it would only be social AND economic justice for you to suffer without one.

Welcome to our progressive world of hate and division based on perverted justice.

Oh, the government knows. Parents marked what we were on the census when I was a child and generations of grandparents marked it before my parents were born. They could also take a look at one of my passport photos (pale, blonde hair, and blue eyes) or last name (narrows the male side down to a small region of GB). Untouchable. The definition of someone they can easily single out for discrimination.

Contrary to all the stereotypes, no corner of my family ever owned slaves or was particularly wealthy. Most of my ancestors were small farmers on various frontiers. Personally, I grew up in extreme poverty in a dangerous inner city ghetto (complete with regular gang shootings and circling police helicopters shining spotlights at the ground like you see in movies and on the news) that was 95+% Mexican (I have far more familiarity with their culture than any that might be attributed to my genetic parents/ancestors. My siblings and I were violently assaulted on a number of occasions due the color of our skin (after all, we were a minority and hating white people is politically correct). The poverty in which I grew up even affected my stature, as I'm 3+" shorter than any of my male or female family line going back for generations.). All the sob stories on the left about how we owe anyone for being born white or male is pure garbage for many of us.

Mind you, I wouldn't want to work in such a cesspool, but it really is amazing how readily they reject you and I can find many easy methods for them to single me out for it.

My mind is blown. The one made over 150k on average over that time. The other made over 130k on average. Ridiculous.

They wouldn't have even made it to the interview stage if they were white.

Krungle's picture

Wait, you think they were affirmative action hires? I don't know how people keep falling for the obvious distractors. They were hired because they were Muslim Brotherhood, like Huma. They're spies. George Webb identified another older Awan who was part of the money laundering op in Mena way back in the day. They were hired because they are dirty, corrupted, and part of a long time criminal family with close ties to the Clintons.

I have no doubt there are countless other idiots hired over the last 8 years who are useless and were hired not for merit, but because they fit some identity politics quota. And by all means complain about them. But those folks are mostly harmless pencil pushers. Muslim Brotherhood spies with security clearances are kind of many orders of magnitude more important.

curly's picture

wherever there's a stench, that turd Bubba Clinton is not far away.

canisdirus's picture

They were all hired during the GWB administration, but otherwise a plausible narrative. The AA helps with ensuring that they would never hire a qualified native born citizen, though, so it's easy to get them into these types of positions.

The thing that really bothers me is that they were all from the same family. Could you imagine the outrage if my brothers and I were all hired to work in the same autonomous IT group within the government like this? The screaming of racism, nepotism, etc, would be deafening before the ink dried on the OPM paperwork.

Stinkytofu's picture
