Obama Slams "False" Trump Accusation, Says "Never Ordered" Wiretapping

Tyler Durden's picture

Moments ago, Barack Obama through his spokesman Kevin Lewis denied Trump's accusation that he had ordered the Trump Tower wiretapped, saying neither he nor any member of the Obama White House, "ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false."

Follows the statement from Kevin Lewis, spokesman to former president Barack Obama

"A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice. As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false."

Yet while the carefully-worded statement, an exercise in semantics, claims Obama did not himself, or through members of his White House team, order a potential wiretapping, it does not deny an actual wiretapping of Trump (or Trump Tower), which as some have speculated in the past, did in fact take place after a FISA Court granted surveillance of Trump over accusations of Russian interference. It also does not preclude the FBI - which is the entity that would most likely have implemented such a wiretap - from having given the order.

As a reminder, here is what the Guardian reported in early January:

The Guardian has learned that the FBI applied for a warrant from the foreign intelligence surveillance (Fisa) court over the summer in order to monitor four members of the Trump team suspected of irregular contacts with Russian officials. The Fisa court turned down the application asking FBI counter-intelligence investigators to narrow its focus. According to one report, the FBI was finally granted a warrant in October, but that has not been confirmed, and it is not clear whether any warrant led to a full investigation.

For the definitive answer, we suggest Trump ask Comey whether or not his building was being tapped in the days prior to the election.

Analyzing Obama's own statements over the years on the illegal wiritappings, one does not come to the conclusion that he can be trusted

You have to appreciate the way he puts things out there that cause them to issue carefully worded denials that sound more like confessions than anything else.

Of course Obama himself did not give the order It's someone in his administration that would have ordered it, which he commanded over. His wordsmithing is so tiresome.

Obama has taken credit for ordering the drone strike which killed US citizen Anwar al-Awlaki. Now we are being told that no surveillance preceded that strike. Obama apparently ordered the strike and a drone was launched blindly into the heavens but it still managed to find and destroy al-Awlaki entirely by chance.

Sounds like very fake news to me.

Stay sane: clear logic:

This statement is classic Obama. It appears on its face to be clear and complete, but in reality it is nothing of the sort.
We are at a very early stage in this matter. There are multiple investigations underway, some launched by the outgoing Obama administration against the incoming Trump administration, and some launched by the current Trump administration against the preceding Obama administration.
Obama’s highly legalistic statement today – which reads very much like a defence statement – however gives a good flavour of the direction some of these inquiries are taking.

The statement hints than any order to wiretap ... was the work of officials in the Justice Department
This too is almost certainly true. However it neglects to say that some of these officials were people whom Obama himself appointed, and who were therefore part of his administration.

Perhaps Mr. Kadzik

Simpler even then that:

If he didn't ORDER then he must have APPROVED.

If he didn't APPROVE what does that say?

And if he did?

Or he found out about it when his owners told him to make a statement & provide the msm more distraction from the great things Trump is already accomplishing in this his 7th week on the job, despite the backstabbing congress, senate, spooks, crisis actors, paid protestors and moochers.

The fanatics who did this are the the same fanatics who bombed London mass transit during a drill, and conducted the 911 heist and mass execution during a drill.

Is anyone naive enough to think that Loretta Lynch and Obama were unaware that the Republican candidate for POTUS was being wiretapped the month before the actual election?

This is Hillary like legal speak where Obozo is trying to keep his neck out of a legal sling.  Sorry...Nixon tried that.

Coincidentally Obama passed legislation increasing wiretapping powers in 2009, did he think we wouldn't remember?

fleur de lis's picture

When Obama says he did not order the wiretapping, he is probably telling the truth.

Obama had no power at all -- he took the position knowing that he was only a cat's paw.

He was content to be a facade and he knew it, and so did his wife.

He was not smart enough to be a President, but he was egotistical enough to take the position and all the bennies in exchange for taking orders from his handlers without question.

Does anyone really think he was smart enough to plan all the Middle East attacks for 8 years?

Of course not -- the logistical planning for those events were far beyond his intelligence.

For that matter, has anyone seen his Columbia and Harvard transcripts?

Of course not -- he was a dummy and a fake and the records would show that.

He was editor of the HLR but has anyone seen a sample of his writing?

Of course not -- if it exists at all it is unimpressive.

It is doubtful that the Deep State would allow Obama access to such critical wiretapping.

That sort of power is reserved for our tax funded, invisible slavemasters.

dalefi36's picture

"Does anyone really think he was smart enough to plan all the Middle East attacks for 8 years?"

Is anyone stupid enough to think the president is in charge of military tactics? What do we call those guys with the shiny stars on their sholders? Oh yeah, generals.

fleur de lis's picture

First of all, I never said Presidents could plan military tactics.

The few who did serve did not plan the goals.

Obama took credit for all those military adventures even though he is little better than a phantom to us.

Really, what do we know about him other than his commie community organizing days?

As for the general with their shiny starts planning things -- nope -- that doesn't work either.

Does anyone really believe that our generals thought that it was important or even relevant to America to destroy Ukraine, Libya, Irag, etc.?

No, the military at every level are used as expendable pawns in a globalist game that has nothing to do with America.

The globalists tell them to plan the destruction of this or that country and they oblige whether they like it or not.

If they planned anything it was because our slavemasters told them to.

What does Ukraine or Libya have to do with us?

The Generals are caught up with the rest of us.

I was talking with a vet about it the other day. His view was, that all of these locations are geared toward encircling Russia, geographically or economically (Syria pipeline).

But I do get the idea of Obama as a stooge that occasionally wielded the scepter for petty issues like forcing schools to let pervs into the wrong bathroom.

That plan is the Yenon plan. Refer to all the dual nationals and their useful idiots and those blackmailed simpletons in congress and the 'secret societies' for the names.

nmewn's picture

And I'll just add, Obama apparently had no knowledge of the wiretapping of news reporters, like Fox News' James Rosen and even his parents. Or Sharyl Attkisson's home & office when she worked at CBS, when she was getting to close for comfort in discovering what the Bitch of Benghazi was really up to.

I mean this is really some authoritarian Gestapo shit thats been going on in this past administration and they want American Joe the Plumber-types to believe Trump is Hitler?...lol...fucking pul-ease.

Again...thank you Ed Snowden & WikiLeaks.

Claims Obama Stole Billions From DOJ Rock Congress – GOP Calling For Arrests

The Obama administration is under investigation after it was revealed Thursday that billions of dollars of tax payer money was funneled into a shadowy Department of Justice slush fund and then distributed to a number of left wing activist groups and himself.

Ed Henry, speaking on Fox News, saidRepublicans on the House Judiciary Committee are now digging in as we learn this morning that President Obama’s Justice Department handed out billions of dollars in your tax payer money to liberal outsider groups, leaving Republicans fuming.”

The question really may be is this just a new form of the so called ‘walking around money’ we used to hear about. Money being dispersed for political reasons in inner cities to try and turn out the vote.”

Mike Huckabee, the former Governor of Arkansas, said the revelations leave Obama in very hot water. If the House Judiciary Committee takes this inquiry all the way, criminal charges will be filed.

Somebody ought to go to prison for this,” Huckabee said.  “This is worse than a mafia shakedown. At least if the mafia shakes you down for protection, your store doesn’t burn down. But this is a case where the liberals have played Robin Hood. They have stolen from the government, the tax payers, and they’ve given it to their pals.

So who were these pals of Obama’s that got their hands on the stolen billions?

Some of the left wing activist organizations that benefitted from Obama’s secret DOJ slush fund include:

National Urban League

National Community Reinvestment Coalition

National Council of La Raza – a Latino advocacy organization that advocates in favor of progressive policy changes including immigration reform, a path to citizenship for immigrants living in the country illegally, and reduced deportations.

This scandal cries out for aggressive investigation. Let’s see the initial FISA application, and the court order denying it. Then let’s see the second application, and the order that approved it. Let’s put the Obama administration officials who signed the applications under oath, and find out who put them up to it. Let’s find out what judges denied the first application, and what judges granted the second one. Let’s get the details on the Obama administration’s spying. Did they tap the Trump campaign’s telephones? If so, which lines? Did they hack into the Trump campaign’s servers? If so, which ones?

Obviously, as President Trump said, the Obama administration learned nothing of significance from its spying on the Trump campaign. But it now appears that the election of 2016 may have been hacked after all, in a far more meaningful way than an intrusion into Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s email account. It may have been hacked by the Obama administration. We need to find out what happened. Congress should give top priority to this investigation.

HamFistedIdiot's picture

Nothing becomes a priority unless the Fake Media says so. This is because Trump has no functioning media game plan and has basically assented to the Fakestream Media control of the news cycle. Check out Mike Cernovich's post: Trump's media team is a joke! Why won't Don Jr. go on the Joe Rogan show, or Kellyanne do an interview with Paul Joseph Watson? Is it because the dinosaur CFR people on Trump's team don't consider such outlets "real media"?

Where are the paid Trump people doing heavy lifting in the social media space? Why is everything left up to Stefan Molyneux, Paul Joseph Watson, Alex Jones, David Seaman, George Webb, SGTreport, Sargon of Akkad, Dave Rubin, and a few others? Sessions is left dangling in the wind, another Trump faithful poised to fall, because no talking points or effective narratives are coming out of Trump's media team. After Sessions is Bannon, and after Bannon is Trump. Obama said so, that's why he (and Soros and Hillary) are back. Can't have an independent nationstate in a globalist tyranny.

Rick Joyner: Media Targeting Sessions Because He Uncovered DOJ ‘Slush Fund’ That Funneled Millions To News Outlets By Kyle Mantyla | March 2, 2017 4:43 pm

Right-wing pastor Rick Joyner posted a video on his Facebook page today in which he alleged that the media is out to destroy Attorney General Jeff Sessions because Sessions supposedly discovered that the Department of Justice under President Obama set up a “slush fund” through which it funneled hundred of millions of dollars from the 2009 stimulus package to media outlets and liberal organizations.

“I saw the evidence of this a while back,” Joyner stated. “Stimulus money kept the New York Times and other newspapers open. You wait and see if that isn’t found out. Why would they pile on Jeff Sessions all of a sudden? Because he found a slush fund in the Department of Justice, sounds like hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money were given to these special interests, all of them very left-wing, liberal interests, by the previous administration’s Department of Justice.”

“This is seriously illegal,” Joyner continued. “Of course, Jeff Sessions, they’re going to attack him and go all out because he’s going after all that kind of illegal activity. And it looks like they’re just going to do everything they can to kind of hurt Jeff Sessions, but it’s not going to hurt him; as a matter of fact, it’s going to make what he finds, it’s going to make all those who started screaming, ‘wolf’ again look much worse, much more guilty.”

Joyner credited the Holy Spirit for exposing the existence of this alleged slush fund, adding that “this could be so big, so bad, so illegal [that] already everybody who has even seen a hint of it is says, ‘Somebody has got to go to prison for this.'”

Joyner declared that lots of bad people did lots of really bad things during the Obama administration and they know that Sessions is about to expose them “and that’s why they want to get him out of there as fast as they can.”

eatthebanksters's picture

Obozo may not have personaly 'ordered' it, but there is no fucking way that POTUS did not know that a presidential candidate whom he despised was being wiretapped one month before the election.  He knew and he allowed it.  Guilty as fuck.

Approved.  The operative word now is approved.

Did he or didn't he?  Either way terrible, terrible deeds and yes on par with Nixon.

Keep in mind, Clinton and McCain and the other devils are more than happy to see Obama burn.  He wasn't Netanyahu loving enough and rather uppity in general.

Obammy didn't order it.  He just ask that it be done or had one of his minions outside of the White House order it and then he sat back and listened to the wiretap.
