Turkey Vows "Harsh Retaliation" Seeks Sanctions, As Dutch PM Says "Not Apologizing, Are You Nuts"

Tyler Durden's picture

The diplomatic scandal between Turkey and the Netherlands deteriorated overnight, when Prime Minister Binali Yildirim warned on Sunday that Turkey would retaliate in the "harshest ways" after Turkish ministers were barred from speaking in Rotterdam, leading to a major protest in front of the Turkish consulate in Rotterdam, while the Dutch embassy in Istanbul was closed off due to "safety concerns."

"This situation has been protested in the strongest manner by our side, and it has been conveyed to Dutch authorities that there will be retaliation in the harshest ways ... We will respond in kind to this unacceptable behavior," Yildirim said in a statement.

Turkey's Prime Minister Binali Yildirim

At the same time, continuing his ongoing tirade in which he has compared virtually all of his political foes to Hitler or Nazis, president Tayyip Erdogan said "Nazism is still widespread in the West" after the Netherlands joined other European countries worried about political tensions inside Turkey spilling beyond its borders that have prevented Turkish politicians from holding rallies.

In another comment, the Turkish leader urged unspecified international organizations to “raise their voices” and impose sanctions on the Netherlands, according to the AP.

As reported on Saturday, the Dutch government first barred Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu from flying to Rotterdam and later stopped Family Minister Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya from entering the Turkish consulate in the port city, before escorting her out of the country to Germany.

Dutch police used dogs and water cannon early on Sunday to disperse hundreds of protesters waving Turkish flags outside the consulate in Rotterdam. Some threw bottles and stones and several demonstrators were beaten by police with batons, a Reuters witness said. Meanwhile, Dutch officers carried out charges on horseback.

Protesters also gathered outside the Dutch embassy in Ankara and consulate in Istanbul, throwing eggs and stones at the buildings.

The Dutch government, which is set to lose about half its seats in elections this week as the anti-Islam party of Geert Wilders makes strong gains, said the ministers' visits were undesirable and it would not cooperate in their political campaigning in the Netherlands.

Erdogan warned the Netherlands that "if you can sacrifice Turkish-Dutch relations for an election on Wednesday, you will pay the price," during an awards ceremony in Istanbul. "I thought Nazism was dead, but I was wrong. Nazism is still widespread in the West," he said. "The West has shown its true face." Speaking to reporters before a public appearance in the northeastern French city of Metz, Cavusoglu said Turkey would continue to act against the Netherlands until it apologizes.

Meanwhile, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said he would do everything to "de-escalate" the confrontation, which he described as the worst the Netherlands had experienced in years. But he said the idea of apologizing was "bizarre".

"This is a man who yesterday made us out for fascists and a country of Nazis. I’m going to de-escalate, but not by offering apologies. Are you nuts?" he told a morning talk show.

Later in the day, Rutte said on Sunday "inflammatory remarks" by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who compared the Dutch to the Nazis, would not help de-escalate a diplomatic row between the two countries. Rutte said that while the Netherlands did not seek confrontation with Ankara, it would have to weigh further options if Turkey did not stop making such comments.

"It is now in the interest of leadership and in the interest of working together to try to de-escalate, but of course the Turks then have to help and what they are saying today is not helping," Rutte told journalists.

Supporting Rutte's decision to ban the visits, the Dutch government said there was a risk of Turkish political divisions flowing over into its own Turkish minority, which has both pro- and anti-Erdogan camps. It cited public order and security worries in withdrawing landing rights for Cavusoglu's flight.

Turkey fired back saying the Dutch ambassador to Ankara should not return from leave "for some time". Erdogan is looking to the large number of Turks living in Europe, especially in Germany and the Netherlands, to help secure victory next month in a referendum that would give the presidency sweeping new powers.

Concerns about Turkey's erratic diplomacy spread to Germany where Chancellor Angela Merkel said she will do all she can to prevent Turkey's domestic tensions spreading onto German territory. Austria and Switzerland have also canceled Turkish rallies due to the escalating dispute. A senior member of her conservative bloc in parliament, Hans Michelbach, demanded on Sunday that the EU stop aid to Turkey and ruled out any hopes that it would join the EU. "There is no prospect of entry in the long run. Turkey is getting further and further away from the European Union. Support programs (that it gets as an EU candidate) are therefore a waste of taxpayers' money," he said in a statement.

In what may have been the harshest recent diplomatic takedown of Turkey, Michelbach said that "it is time that the EU stops performing like a diplomatic paper tiger towards Ankara. Europe must not be led by the nose round the Turkish election arena." Needless to say, such a move would delight Putin as the Kremlin has been aggressively courting Erdogan and Turkey as Russia seeks to make headway with its new middle-eastern Axis which also includes Syria and hopes to add Iran.

In the near-term, however, the outstanding question is how will Saturday's events impact Wednesday's Dutch general election, and whether the diplomatic clash will boost votes for Geert Wilders. As Reuters notes, "the diplomatic row comes in the run-up to the coming week's Dutch election in which the mainstream parties are under strong pressure from the far-right party of Geert Wilders."

After Kaya, the Turkish family minister, was escorted out of the country, Wilders told her on Twitter "go away and never come back".

Erdogan's spokesman responded by saying the Netherlands had bowed to anti-Islam sentiment.

"Shame on the Dutch government for succumbing to anti-Islam racists and fascists, and damaging long-standing Turkey-NL relations," presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin wrote on Twitter.

In a sign the row could spread further, the owner of a venue in Sweden where a senior official from Turkey's ruling party had been due to hold a rally on Sunday canceled the rental contract, Turkey's private Dogan news agency reported. The news agency said the owner had not given a reason for their decision. Cavusoglu also decided against traveling to Zurich, Switzerland, for an event on Sunday after failing to find a suitable venue. Zurich's security authorities had unsuccessfully lobbied the federal government in Bern to ban Cavusoglu's appearance.

Both sides have a communication problem.

The Dutch have deluded themselves into thinking that angry, envious, uneducated, unskilled, non-Western immigrants from a diametrically opposed culture can fit into a very liberal Western culture.

The Turkish immigrants are convinced that they are superior to Infidels and therefore entitled to colonize any Western country they want and openly disregard the laws with impunity because Allah said it was all theirs for the taking anyway.

Both sides have deluded themselves about the other side through faulty beliefs.

So the Dutch don't understand why it is so difficult to follow very open and benign laws, and the Turks have no reason to follow any infidel law.

Like most Islamic migrants, the Turks are socio-culturally stunted and think that it is the job of their Infidel feeders and caregivers to provide for them no matter how destructive they are.

The Infidels for their part don't know how to enforce their own laws.

The Turks will remain disloyal to their host country, and live like parasites in a Turkish colony supported by Infidel taxes and benefits, so they have no incentive to clean themselves up and assimilate.

This will not end well.

Very well described. Accept as Dutch I have no delusion. Goes even deeper. People don't want to see it. Oblivious how this will not work out very well. It will not end well.... Hey! Didn't we saw that last night?

Luc X. Ifer's picture

Well, just following the nature's way of cleaning herself - the weak will perish, the strong will survive and the prepared will thrive.

Luc X. Ifer's picture

Agree. This is valid for all Islamic communities spread all over Europe - they don't see any due diligence to integrate and assimilate and justified in their view by the requirement that any good muslim is the muslim who follows and imposes by any means the laws of their fanatic medieval fascist religion.

BobEore's picture

That's exactly where this piece of political theatre is heading...

as a scripted pretext by which to advance the joint Sraeli-Russian project of throwing a grenade into the NATO alliance and letting the pieces fly where they may.

It should be understood that the wannabe Sultan has NOT been master of his own house since last spring. His role is written for him by the forementioned overlords, and even should he win the coming referendum giving him dictatorial powers he will remain nothing more than a puppet on their strings.

Tis all theatre. Europe will grow tired of his provocations, make the inevitable breach of relations, and allow the chips to fall  - right into the lap of the usual suspects of course.

America, caught up in another scripted production from the same producers, will look on passively as the world reshapes around it - too busy with a fatal civil war that never need have happened... had it paid due attention to all the portents around them. Welcome to the "New Jersualem."

That was about the most poorly written article I have ever read.  I had to go back three or four times in some places to figure out what was being said.  Eiher it was a poor translation or its some young journalist that still doesn't know how to write a story...there are plenty of those out there these days.

Btw, Erdogan is the sociopathic Islamist tryrant andn he's going to singlehandedly get Geert WIlders elected.

scraping_by's picture

I don't know about that. The 99% per cent bear the costs of uncontrolled immigration while the benefits, if any, accrue to the 1%. While the propaganda of the last few decades has worked to the point most people think it unbearably rude to notice costs and tinfoil hat crazy to ask about benefits, larger and larger number of ordinary people are starting to ask the question. Whether Wilders has the right answer is not relevant, since he's proposing an answer while the oligarchy's sock puppets are pretending the question doesn't exist.

This is, of course, applicable to the Europe in general, and indeed, the US.

mc888's picture

Sure they would. But the problem is Erdogan, the self-proclaimed 'champion of the Sunni'.

Turkey began the pivot to Russia but they keep flip-flopping back to NATO.

As long as Erdogan remains in power, Turkey can never be a trusted ally to anyone.

Putin would be a fool to trust them. And so is NATO.

It all comes down to peoples wallets.

If we follow your logic, then the Mexican president would not be allowed entry to the largest Mexican embassy in the US. What international, or even "national" laws that forbid one nation's delegates from visiting their own embassies throughout the world?

Erdogan is more interested in garnering more Turkish votes for the Turkish Referendum he's trying to pass. I believe there's more than 1.5 million Turks in Europe, and he needs those votes.

But the real blowback against Erdogan's presence is the fraudulent EU construct that feels threatened with a possible win for Geert Wilder. He wins, and Le Pen's chances improve immeasurably.

the question becomes, why are they even there in the first place? seriously. if they love their turkish gov so much that they are (violently) protesting (more at rioting), then by all means send them the fuck back pronto so they can celebrate said turkish gov on turkish soil. (and all Sharia Law crazies in America need to be sent packing ASAP!)

CPL's picture

Yeah, that's how the local governments can use the events.  Send in a paddy wagon, fill it, gas them in the hold and fly them to bum fuck nowhere to get dropped off.  If anyone has noticed we 'had' an ISIS problem for around two seconds in Canada.

But after a couple of them got free rides in a Chinook to the middle of northern quebec forests near nothing (well bears and wolves to eat them)...and don't come back.  No one seems that interested in doing Soro's funded protesting in Canada.  To be blunt none of these countries have an obligation to keep non-citizens if they can't manage their sensibilities.  Rights are only for citizens of that nation.  And there is only one rule isn't there?  To stay out of the troubles.  If they don't.  Fuck'em.

You just need to set the example a couple of times to get tens of a thousand of toes to line up fast.  Don't pussy foot, use the shillelagh liberally to catch attention.  When that doesn't work, be the magician and make a couple obvious ones disappear.  If they don't how to use courts and due process, use the old ways to make sure the dead tell no tales.

VD's picture

there is a basic incontrovertible historic pattern and lesson in all of this: when the hegemon extends aid to the conquered, the latter accepts, but always with the long-term goal of eventual revenge on the former. this is 100% the rule. there are no exceptions, just degrees of vengeance.

GoinFawr's picture

Was your comment directed at Canada's immigrants? Because your sure 'nough "100%" vengeance theory is total BS there, in my experience after a couple of generations (or less) practically every immigrant family, regardless of background, recognizes just how lucky they are to have landed in Canada, and work hard to contribute rather than destroy... either that or they get the treatment CPL has outlined.

Not saying there are never problems, just saying they get resolved.

CPL's picture

Yup.  Like anything else in life, you deal with the situations as they come up.  If someone is rocking the boat for everyone, you throw them over the side without a second thought on the matter.  There is always another one waiting behind that person to take their place.

scraping_by's picture

Your mental image is out of date. That's the process we've all seen when immigration is individual, controlled, vetted. The new era is mass immigration, uncontrolled, and significant numbers in comparison to the citizens. Think of it as colonization.

CPL's picture

That's why it is far wiser to put infidels to the sword behind your own walls than launch a far off crusade.  No need to go looking for trouble, always shit that needs doing at home.  For Turkey, it is rattling the cage because they've got other logistical issues that they avoided dealing with and don't want to tell their population of the effect of their avoidance of these problem.  These handful of self created problems are serious enough that they are looking to off load their population anywhere they can.

This isn't about a hegamon at all.  It's entirely about logistics and they are starting to understand the situation Islam put them in regarding "transitions".  They kneecapped themselves with their own dogma.  Giving it a look, they won't be able to cross to the far shore until they learn to tell their population to stop having so many damn kids.  They are getting eaten inside out in a tiny little bubble by NOT watching the head count and avoiding the proper agricultural applications to sustain and feed their own people.

If you want to check.  Go look at food imports...now go look at worldwide crop failures for five years running, dropping exports and a BDI that reflects that the world shipping industry is now a rowboat.

Here's the sad thing.  They know they are in big trouble as well and that's why they are panicking.  They are going to have to learn the hard way just like everyone else that has culturally been through countless transitions, invasion cycles and the usual malarkey that goes with the territory.  The one thing every one learns during these situations.  There are always losses and triage is your only option if you walked in pretending it was anything different.  They are just shooting themselves in the head here.  If they aren't brokering business with other houses and making the bridge ties by the usual ways of weddings and business, they will starve themselves out.

Socratic Dog's picture

It's a minor point, I know, but birthrate is a marker for cultural vitality and life force.  A culture that brings its birth rate to below even the replacement rate is committing cultural suicide.  Witness the West and Japan.  The USA has been the last bastion of white breeding, but even that is gone.  We all bring in immigrants, instead, and fund illegitimate black babies.

Cui bono?  The usual suspects.  Take a look at the Protocols to answer that one.  And ask yourself whether there was an organized force behind the rise of contraception and abortion in the West.  Consult Kevin Macdonald's writings if in doubt.

If whites want to survive, they need to start breeding, instead of listening to their would-be masters. Forget Malthus, the environment, the cost of education. The point of life is to beget life, period.  Cultural suicide is happening now, and other cultures are rightly taking advantage of it.  Get out there and breed, people.

It truly amazes me that people need to be told to fuck.

CPL's picture

Here's the thing about the 'refugee swaps'.  If you haven't got a choice in the matter, the fact it is fair game to avoid picking up the highly religious, quasi illiterate goat herder prototype they love dumping in other countries.  Point of fact you don't need or want their garbage.  You are allowed to specify your deliveries of your 'refugees'.  Why not pick the guys with professional trade vocations?  Or have multiple languages and degrees coming out their ears.  Or the farmers.  Or hot chicks so the lads have marriagable age women.  If socially they are about to hit the brick wall because of poor planning, the opportunity is to cherry pick quality before everyone does.

Let's look at Canada.  We have demographics like a turnip.  Fat on the top of the age range, skinnier on the bottom.  In the next couple of years our population is going to be cut in half.  You plan against your services needs based on that.  The demographics also show we are a little short reproduction age women in the demographics.

You want them all fucking again?

Make sure they are dumb as bag of hammers and they'll crank out kids like no one's business.  If you want to curb the family unit size, shift gears and highly educate them.  Condoms nor birth control is the 'cause' of that questionable position regarding family size.  Education is.  Dumber = bigger family sizes.  Smarter = smaller family sizes.  Just how they are wired.  I'd avoid the religious wishful thinking otherwise.

Socratic Dog's picture

Smarter = smaller families.  Unfortunately, it also = cultural suicide.

It might be "smarter" in some hedonistic, nihilistic, short-term way.  It is sure as shit not smarter in the long run.

And you think immigration of outsiders is smart, so long as you can select the desirable ones.  So, we stop having babies, and we bring in the elites from foreign cultures, cultures that demonstrably are vibrant and alive, read "breeding",  instead.  Wake up to yourself man, that is about as certain a recipe for cultural suicide as you could get.  And it's pretty damn close to what the zionists have planned for us.
