Paul Craig Roberts Warns "Revolutions Are Bloody, But So Is Doing Nothing"

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Paul Craig Roberts,

Graeme MacQueen, a university professor in Canada, calls attention to the American left’s inability to exercise imagination with regard to the reports of the Warren Commission and the 9/11 Commission. A collection of individuals and publications, somehow regarded as leftwing, has proven to be active agents for the conspiratorial state against true dissent.

Most peculiar and disturbing is the tendency of left activists and leaders to join with state intelligence agencies in using the term “conspiracy theory” to dismiss those who raise questions about official state narratives.

There seems to be little awareness among these left critics of the history of the term. They seem not to realize that they are employing a propaganda expression, the function of which is to discourage people from looking beneath the surface of political events, especially political events in which elements of their own government might have played a hidden and unsavoury role.

The United States no longer has a leftwing, and neither does Europe, Greece least of all, a country whose “leftwing” government has agreed that Greece’s creditors can loot and plunder the Greek people and the public assets of Greece in behalf of the One Percent. The British Labour Party is as rightwing as the Conservatives, and the French socialist party is more rightwing and much more acceptant of American overlordship than General Charles De Gaulle.

In Germany the electorate has put in place as Chancellor of Germany a US puppet who represents Washington, not the German people. And she will continue to represent Washington, even if it means war with Russia.

The leftwing, once a force that attempted to hold governments accountable, has merged with the American Empire. The American “left” has now joined with the military/security complex to deep-six the prospect of detente with Russia. As Counterpunch's John Feffer writes,

It has all the hallmarks of a compelling thriller.

A U.S. president willing to put his reputation on the line in the interests of peace and prosperity prepares to reach out to Russia. The Kremlin shows some cautious interest. But before the president can propose anything substantial, his opponents do everything possible to derail his efforts.

Worse, this “deep state” of operatives within government — and political actors on the outside — leverages a full range of false accusations to smother the administration in the fog of scandal.

The American leftwing has joined with the neocons, the presstitute media, and the military/security complex in a common agreement that anyone who favors better relations with Russia is a Russian agent or a dupe of Vladimir Putin.

And if you know enough to doubt the Warren Commission and 9/11 Commission reports, you are a conspiracy kook and are put on Harvard’s list of purveyors of “fake news.” Everyone who does not agree with the Establishment’s line is “fake news.” And this is in a “democracy with free speech.” What a joke America has become!

In other words, the “left” has accepted the neoconservative line that those who advocate peace with Russia, other than on US imposed terms, are traitors to America, including the President of the United States. Harvard University now has a PropOrNot type of list of suspect websites. All who favor normal relations with Russia are on the list.

We have reached the point that even for Harvard University, no dissent from hating Russia is possible. This leaves war as the only option.

Are you ready to die for the military/security complex’s enormous budget?

That is all you will be dying for.

All the hell that the Middle East is going through is because of that shitty country.

Even the problem in Ukraine is payback for Putin helping Syria.

Mano-A-Mano's picture

Bolshevik Revolution: The Jewish Bolsheviks, who took over the Russian government in the 1910s, killed 66 million Christians, including 200,000 members of the Christian clergy, and destroyed 40,000 churches.

World War 1: Britain was losing the war against Germany. The Zionists stepped in and bribed President Wilson to get the US into the war to help them. In return, the Jews asked the British Empire to deed them Palestine to create Israel. Their wish was granted in the form of the Balfour Declaration of 1917, which cost the world 18 million dead.

World War 2: The Zionists fomented that war (just like they’re doing today with Iran and other countries in the Middle East), so that European Jews could feel threatened. The deception worked as European Jews fled in droves to Palestine and took over the homes of Palestinians, who were evicted at gunpoint and then either massacred or driven out of their land into neighboring Arab countries. With enough Jews on the ground, Israel was created in 1948 at a cost of 80 million dead.

World War On Terror: Jewish neocons, in cahoots with their bought-and-paid-for politicians in the US government, perpetrated their act of terrorism on 9/11. Then they conveniently blamed it on Muslims so as to obtain a green light to destroy the Middle East using the armies of the US and NATO and the terrorist groups they finance, with the ultimate view to creating Greater Israel. So far, the death toll is over 3 million, including Christians.

World War 3: With Russia protecting Syria and Iran from Israel’s Machiavellian design, will the Zionists succeed in bringing the world once again to the brink of disaster to create Greater Israel? If they do, will it instead bring about their downfall?

Apartheid Israel is truly a scourge. A cancer that needs to be dealt with.

Well put, Mano-A-Mano.  Those snippets of historical fact need to be repeated over and over and over again until enough people realize who the eternal warmongers are in this world.  Of course, Mr. Roberts never correlates all of his villains - the "leftists", "neocons", "presstitute media", "Harvard faculty", etc... - under the unifying umbrella of "jews".  This is the beef I have with him.  He writes well of the core problems... but rarely identifies the core PERPETRATORS.

The ultimate logic of the Israeli-U.S. global war, writes Israeli activist Michel Warschawski of the Alternative Information Center in Jerusalem (July 30, 2006) is the “full ethnicization” of all conflicts, “in which one is not fighting a policy, a government or specific targets, but a ‘threat’ identified with a community” — or, in Israel’s case, with all non-Jewish communities.

Lived in the middle east. It's shitty even without Israel. We just need to pull out, stop supplying weapons and aid and let them figure it out.

We all know that Trump is aware of this, why can't he throw off the yoke? Is he threatened or is he playing a game with the neocons or is he stalling for time? Just can't seem to get my head around how much his plank has changed since he took office. He won't be a shadow of himself in a couple more months at this rate.

The only way to remove the traitors and dual-citizens who have hijacked US Government is by a REVOLUTION.

*** But Americans would rather die on their knees than fighting for the country.

Mycroft Holmes IV's picture

I think Americans will take action once their quality of life is disrupted suddenly.

What has happened over the past 25 years is a slow bleed of the middle class, coinciding with the implementation of NAFTA and the rise of the WTO (and GHWB's NWO).

Social programs, welfare, and new entitlements (Obamacare - good luck getting rid of it) have been a drug soothing the pain of the blood loss.

My concern is when things do break down, the people will be blaming each other (as intended) instead of the shadow government (you can see someone besides Trump is pulling the strings of the national narrative). It is the shadow government that the people should blame; starting with Soros - an obvious face of the movement.

It's kind of a concern of mine as I am in Occupied Territory and there are not a lot of people who are prepared for a supply chain breakdown (let alone a major earthquake).

me or you's picture

It ain't gonna happen. Americans lack of balls and courage.

You are correct Paul Craig Roberts! Telling the truth and calling out bullshit on both parties is a difficult and insurmountable task and does not win any popularity contests!

The million women march was an outrageous freak show that stood for nothing! If they were marching against war, ending the surveillance state, ending the mass incarcerations of which 80% are either related to drunk driving, or marijuana possession, I would have joined them!

It just looked like a bad acid trip. They have no narrative. They have no truth.

This is the most ridiculous excuse that I have ever witnessed of a protest. Their answer being, more war mongering, surveillance state, civil rights abolishing establishmentarians than the one who was elected.

Trump is not off the hook though. We must remain vigilant in our efforts regarding the truth, whether we voted for them, or against them, otherwise we will merely end up being hypocrites.

I'm very disappointed in Trump's put the swamp first plan adding $54 billion to defense which is currently at $815 billion and will be increased to $869 billion under his plan.

Corporate crony communist defense contractors now consist of 190,000 corporations who receive $ 316 billion dollars in America's secret communist program. It includes all tech companies who the government pays to spy on and terrorize you. Mind the app!

There are approximately 27 million corporations in the US. Only 18,500 have 500 employees or more!

Bloody Revolution?

"wouldn't last a week", that would cetainly fortify the concept of bloody revolution.

Interestingly, current thinking is that posting a comment on some website actually is doing something.  Well, it lets off some steam if nothing else.  Every now and then, tho, some folks post actual info and not an uniformed opinion.  Thank y'all.

RedDwarf's picture

I would argue that it is not only doing something, it is doing something important.  It means you are taking part in a global dialogue.  That is how a concensus is formed, and that is necessary before coordinated and meaningful action takes place.  In Ye Olden Times people of political bent would meet in pubs and smoking dens.  Then over time those discussions would nourish the seeds of rebellion.

The two things a dictator always does is ban free speech and disarm the populace.  So yes, taking active and traceable part in the discussion is not only 'doing something', it's 'doing something meaningful', and even potentially dangerous.

TeethVillage88s's picture

This makes sense and is important.

But also

- Institutions like Churches have been involved in controlling people
- MSM are institutions that do control people
- Lobbyists are institutions that corrupt govt
- No Term Limits for National level Parliament or Congress is a corrupt practice

If only.  Meetings in pubs were face to face didn't involve anonomous names like RedDwarf.

Left and Right wing is a false dichotomy.  Authoritarian and Libertarian is the real dichotomy.  Nazis were National Socialists.  Nationalism is a defining aspect of the Right Wing, Socialism is a defining aspect of the Left Wing.  The Nazis were both extremely Right and Left wing at the same time.  This proves that Left and Right are NOT dichotomies of each other.

What we have today is the Authoritarians getting desperate as the Internet is decentralizing information flows and opinion and redpilling too many people.  Populism, Progressivism, and other ideologies are beginning to battle it out without the elites being able to control the narrative nor the leaks.  That is why everything is reorganizing itself politically.  The false dichotomies are being exposed for what they are and the true ones are starting to come out.

Trump and Sanders are not the end of this sea change.  They are the Heralds.  This show is just getting started.

frank further's picture

Apparently, you haven't noticed the orange traitor, undoing the "sea change" with Goldmans and other billionaires taking charge.  Dream on, friend.

RedDwarf's picture

Looks like big picture strategic thinking is not your forte.  Trump doesn't matter at the level I'm talking about.  Even if he totally betrays everything, that he was voted into office to do and betrays the Demos all that will happen is that come next election the Demos will be even more radicalized and even angrier.  What matters is WHY the Demos took a chance on Trump and almost Sanders.  That WHY will not change if Trump betrays the people, in fact it will be strengthened by it.

As far as I can see Trump will be involved in two wars before he finishes his first term. One in Europe/Asia and the other of course in the South China Sea/North Korea/China. Maybe he has some populist chops but the facts of what he is doing are not good.

Zorba's idea's picture

China is using NK Kim ding dong in the familiar way, a cats paw to thwart Japan and US interest in a region it has resolved orbits China policy. The many contingency policies for dealing with this have been part of the pentagon/cia efforts long before Trump and long after. What remains to be seen is whether China will double down on its lunatic NK proxy. Europe will inevitably confront its irreparable flawed union..so goes Germany, so goes the EU, and its apparent that German's are getting tired of doing all the heavy lifting. Trump is more adept and willing to trade one on one than any of the elitist administrations who've been unabashedly pushing the NWO, TPP,TISA et.al. The real surprise may be hidden in a comment General Mattis recently made regarding the need for the military to develop a renewable sustainable alt energy to power its hardware. On such a scale if this were doable, and we incorporated this alt energy domestically, we could leap past all these perverse Petro soaked policies and get out of the ME and let their den of snakes consume themeselves. You don't have to be an environmentalist to appreciate a paradigm shift of that magnitude would be a huuuge benefit to all mankind. Vlad, all the Saudi princes, and every tom dick and harry oil producing dictator in SA and Africa, we could divorce from amicably... Go ahead honey, you can keep all the oil infrastructure.

One thing that the world has learnt from the past is that you can never push Russians to capitulation. What makes this idiots think they know better? Russia isn't France and Russians are not europeans. They are mixture of Europeans slavs, vikings, mongolians. They will better eat snow from Siberia than surrender. They survived Napoleon,Hitler,Stalin and jewish zionist holocaust of 40 million Russians during that asshole raign. They will surely survive us. On the other hand the brutal collaps that US is heading to will be worse than the collaps Russians experienced when USSR fell and most of the Americans won't stand a chance because unlike Russians they never experienced poverty and are unable to even plant anything to survive.

Russians are indeed tough SOBs. Yet history has invariably shown eventually someone thinks they are just the ones that will bring them (and their resources) to heel.
