Dutch Election Results Confirm 'Far Right Populism' Still On The Rise In Europe

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Alex Gorka via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

Those who support the idea of globalism and strive for closer European integration believe the results of the Dutch election indicate the tide has been stemmed, with Eurosceptics and «populist» forces on the defensive. The buck stops here. This is the end of domino effect. The reshaping of Europe has been prevented. The pro-NATO, pro-EU establishment elites are to see glory days again.

Is it really so if you get to the bottom of it?

The future of Europe remains to be at stake, including the UK, Germany and France. Will the concept of United Europe exist in one form or another? Will Scotland stay in the United Kingdom? Will Germany and France distance themselves from the United States? Some of these questions could be answered sooner than expected.

This year may become a turning point with the votes to take place in Germany, France and, probably, Italy. In a month, France will have a new president and Germans will have a new parliament elected in September. The example of the Netherlands may have little influence on the votes.

Let’s look at the facts. Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom made a substantial gain. It won 20 seats (of 150) according to the preliminary results, which is 5 seats more than in the previous election in 2012. The two governing parties got half as many seats as at the last election in 2012. The prime minister’s Party for Freedom and Democracy lost 8 seats and its coalition partner, the Labor Party (PvdA), lost 29 – an impressive defeat!

Actually, it’s a significant loss for those who ruled the country and a big gain (not big enough but still) for the right wing Eurosceptics led by Wilders. Many key points of the Party for Freedom’s program were «borrowed» by PM Mark Rutte’s People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and Christian Democrats. The popularity was raised due to the tough stance taken in the conflict with Turkey – something Wilders had been calling for. Actually, Prime Minister Rutte was riding to power on a wave of anti-migrant, anti-Islam sentiments.

The Sybrand Buma's Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) is all but certain to participate in the next governing coalition with 19 seats won (12, 5%) – an increase of 6 seats. The party has gained ground by adopting a tough line similar to Rutte's on immigration, adding a focus on communal values and a touch of nationalism to tap voter concerns about Dutch identity. It has proposed introducing singing the national anthem in schools and mandatory community service. According to Sybrand Buma, Her Majesty Queen Máxima should renounce her Argentine citizenship (she was born in Buenos Aires). The CDA presence in government would ensure a conservative stamp on any coalition.

Media rarely mention the fact that another right wing anti-EU and anti-migrants party – the Forum for Democracy – took part in its first election to win 2 seats (1,8%) – not a bad start for a party created only in September 2016. It calls for restoring ties with Russia among other things.

The main result is opposite to what it appears to be at first glance. The outcome of the Dutch election conforms to the current trend – Euroscepticism is on the rise across Europe. The winning forces are often called populist but in reality they are anti-establishment movements which emerged as a result of voters being fed up with left or right windbags. People want them gone and the entire political landscape in Europe fundamentally changed.

Socialists have few chances in France and the chances of Angela Merkel becoming Chancellor again are dim enough. Martin Schultz is a serious rival to reckon with.

Newly founded or old anti-establishment parties continue to make gains. Perhaps not today, but they will come to power. In a couple of months Marine Le Pen may become President of France to radically reform European politics. Even if she loses, Le Pen will remain the most popular politician in the country who is able to win the presidential election in 2022. Artificial creations designed by experts for a particular task, like Emmanuel Macron, for instance, can’t stop it. Nothing can prevent the new wave of politicians from coming to power.

The Dutch election has not changed anything. It has failed to turn the tide. The EU continues to fall apart. The European integration will never be the same. More and more EU members challenge the existing pattern.

The March 16 vote in the Netherlands is far from being a harbinger of Eurosceptics’ movements fading away. Quite to the contrary, it has confirmed the trend – the Old Continent is going through changes. We’ll never have the EU we once knew. The process may temporarily slow down but it’s too late to stop it.

Who counted the votes?

zvzzt's picture

A lot of average citizens (several from every town/comunity) and then wire in the numbers to a central system. The outcome per community/city/town are listed on internet/tv etc. Ballots are on paper.

You enter the voting station (school/church/elderly home etc (we had about 5 places in a town of 20k people). You bring your voting card and passport. You give both to three people sitting behind a desk, the first checks the passport an reads out a number, the second one checks the number and name on a seperate list and the third one gives you the voting form. Note that at least one of the members is a public servant, the others can be volunteer citizens (buddy was on the counting team this year).

Note that you cannot vote in another town unless you have requested to do so well before hand. Also, you cannot vote for someone else unless you have a signature (and I think it can only be done for a spouse or family member, but not sure about that last part).

Chances of dead people voting and or illegals voting are basically non-existent (except with fake passports, but even then you have to be a recipient of the voting card (home adress) and checklist of the community.

They tried electronic voting a decade or so ago, but there was so much outrage and distrust that they brought back the paper voting.

I think if there is any (significant) fraud it could only happen after counting and reporting the final numbers. Then again, those numbers are public and large changes can easily be spotted by citizens of the counting teams.

Voting rigging is probably more complex than simply shooting a possible contender of the establishment, like what happened to Pim Fortuin... Now he was a huge, huge threat. Basically a Wilders but less socialist (exconomically), super eloquent and with a very broad support base of blue collar workers, business owners, lawyers and everything in between.

kellys_eye's picture

Although, ultimately, it's the votes that count there is less consideration for the way people THINK and IMHO the general though processes are leaning to the right in every person other than the hard left die hards.

If voting was made compulsory TPTB would be sh1tting themselves to see the way the public are abandoning socialism.  They (TPTB) must be touching cloth regardless.

What's hilarious is that anyone who feels that importing people that don't share their values, never will and will likely be both a drain on the economy and threaten their safety is stupid, is somehow a RIGHT WINGER.

When the fuck did personal safety and common sense become the bastion of the right? Why can't the morons on the left see this?

I agree with the analysis, theres a continued move to the right on average for the past 8 years, and the right wing parties also got more  right wing under Lord Geert's influence. I hope the coming government formation will reflect this, and they wont put the commies in the government.

There is huge corelation between decreasing prosperity and rising populism. First is fueling the 2nd. It wont get better if they cant bring back prosperity.

Nightjar's picture

There may be a corelation, but the cause for both is the same: failing leftist policies.

Batman11's picture

If you want to gauge the strength of populism you need some parameters to work out its causes.

The mainstream media likes to frame it in terms of identity politics.

After Brexit the Conservatives found the JAMs (Just About Managing).

94% of the jobs created under Obama were part time.

Zero hours contracts are part of the new working environment.

The middle class is disappearing in the US and society is polarising.

Inequality is a problem throughout the West and austerity just makes it worse.

There were almost no populist movements before 2008 and since 2008 average wages have been stagnating whilst most of the gains go the top.

QE maintains asset prices and the top 10% of the population own most of the assets.

A pattern seems to be emerging.

From the pattern that seems to be emerging we wouldn’t expect populism to be that strong in Holland as it has a strong welfare system and the economy is doing well.

The McKinsey Global Institute - “Poorer Than Their Parents? Flat or falling incomes in advanced economies”, July 2016

“One major driver of stagnant worker incomes has been the combination of labour market developments and public policies that have resulted in declining wage shares of national income. The report notes that from 1970 to 2014 – with the brief exception of a spike during the 1973–74 oil crisis – the average wage share across the 6 countries studied in depth (United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden) fell by 5 percentage points. In the most extreme case of the United Kingdom, it declined by 13 percentage points. These declines in wage shares occurred despite increases in labour productivity, as the productivity gains were either grabbed by employers or passed on in the form of lower prices to maintain external competitiveness.”

The UK looks bad and we might expect populism to be strong there.

“In a startling finding, the report said that 65 to 70% of households in 25 advanced economies were in income segments that had flat to falling incomes between 2005 and 2014, up from less than 2 percent between 1993 and 2005. More troubling is that for some of the biggest supposed winners from globalization such as the US, this number is as high as 81%, while in Italy it soars to just shy of 100%!”

The US looks bad and we might expect populism to be strong there.

Italy is looking like a big problem.

Apparently, the Wilders fella is a one-man band.  He doesn't have a party structure of any great size if any.  Given that, he did really well I think.

Marine is a better test.

Problem is for the voter having to choose some really extreme people.  It must be a shock!  Imagine having that hairdo represent you.  I mean really.

^--- NWO shills

Yes, Wilders is a controlled-oposition one-man show. He comes from the VVD, the party that now fraudulently won the 2017 elections. The NWO plans things long-term. Deepstate NL fraudulently made VVD win in 2012 with 49 seats (out of 150). This was in preparation for the 2017 elections, so the **illusion** could be created that VVD lost at cost of PVV, Wilder's party. And even then, to have an NWO coalition succeed, they also fraudulently boosted CDA (cristian party, only christian by name though. Not by deeds and actions). VVD now "dropped" to 33 seats while PVV has risen. This gives us the illusion the "right" still won as far as movement goes, while in effect the pedophilic deepstate does not lose might and power. The 33 seats for VVD were pre-planned: It's the Freemason elite rank (#33) and through this, they loved rubbing it into everyone's face that they simply seized power again: https://twitter.com/TruthHitsEvery1 There has been no elected government WITHOUT VDD for decennia!!

Holland has been occupied and fully controlled by the Babylonian World Order (they're in fact part of it, Bilderberg was founded in 1954 by Prince Bernhard, a Nazi collaborateur). So Erdogan really is not far off calling the NWO Dutch government Nazis.

Wilders is ABSOLUTELY nothing like Le Pen. Le Pen is NOT controlled opposition like the one-trick-pony Wilders (the one trick? Muslim hate). Le Pen is the real deal.

P.S. Yes, I AM Dutch and I live there. I have seen my country de-moralized and de-sanitized through "neo-liberal freedomz" like childporn (google political party MARTIJN)) by the Babylonian filth that is in control here. We are occupied by the worst of an enemy: https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1730295

Dutch "jews" that follow the Babylonian Talmud are those that "survived". It's torah Jews that got razzia'd up and deported.

There's this saying "The worst enemy of a Jew is a.... Jew". George Soros is another known example of an imposter "jew" babylonic filth that turned in torah jews.

Please read the embedded link, some posts down where I write about the Babylonian and Khazar history of Earth here: https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1730295

In this article, you will see that the EU (European Union) is in fact "New Babylon" when you follow the embedded links. The cult also embeds Nazi symbols, like that new NATO building (a double SS insignia replica).

You shouldn't have a single profile attached to the world "Jew". There is a big spectrum as is with Islam. Unfortunately it's the Khazar azkenazi imposters calling themselves "Jew" that got them selves into power through satanism centuries ago. They scream "anti-semite" the hardest when you call out individual's crimes.

rmstock's picture

" Wilders is a controlled-oposition one-man show" maybe this seemed a
correct assessment in 2004 after Wilders had just left the VVD, and
imposed one-man only leadership on his party the PVV. The reason for
him doing so, was that destructive infiltration in new promising
political parties was rampant. Lijst Pim Fortuin, Leefbaar Nederland
etc. all went down the trashcan through this. The real problem as Micha
Kat has been mentioning since 2007, is the total compromised department
of Justice and Security which has been a one political party
stronghold since 2002. That party, the VVD, is riddled with questionable
individuals, many of which would today not even pass a routine test to
obtain a low level security clearance. The main problem now is that the
former two-term Prime Minister Mark Rutter, is a total compromised
individual, who has committed massive election fraud to literally save his
own ass, and at the cost of mainly the party of Wilders, the PVV.

The main difference between the PVV and the VVD : the PVV wants to leave
the EU a.s.a.p. and close the Dutch borders, where the VVD wants to
stay in the EU to gather more power and wealth into fewer Minerva
hands. Rutte even put his life at stake, ignored a valid Dutch
referendum result, and enabled visa free travel for Ukrainians into the
Netherlands ...

There is 100% proof that Rutte committed massive election fraud.
1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYd5HBitVqk
2. The liberal right wing VVD and its leader Mark Rutte had a coalition
cabinet with the socialist left wing labor party PvdA for over four
years from 2012-2017. Not only were their party programs in almost all
aspects confrontational, in the senate both parties combined could not
reach a majority of votes, even if a cabinet coalition European Union
party line vote was demanded. Most of the time a third party D66 would
help out, to pass and ratify critical EU legislation. Several problems
popped up in Parliament, the most prominent one where the Department of
Justice was charged with the illegal laundering of money obtained
through crime. In the late 1990's the Dutch Justice Department made `a
deal' with a Dutch Crime boss `Cees H.' to pay him 4.7 million Dutch
Guilders (Dfl.), whereby the Dutch IRS explicitly was circumvented and
not notified of this financial transaction. Two successive Ministers of
Justice, Ivo Opstelten and Ard van der Steur, were forced to resign for
hiding and covering this up. In both cases also Prime Minister Mark
Rutte aided and abetted these cover-up attempts. The entire Kingdom of
the Netherlands and all of its citizens have been witness of this on
Dutch Television. The legitimacy , approval rating if you will, of the
VVD, which exclusively had control over the entire Justice Department,
and in particular Prime Minister Mark Rutte had absolutely plummeted
below zero just prior to election day. How can such a party then win
the elections ?
3. The resulting vote of the Dutch Elections 2017 can only be
explained when massive vote fraud at the so-called constituency
districts is accounted for. What has happened since the first Rutte
term, is that the number of municipalities has dropped from 537 in the
year 2000, to only 431 in 2010. These Elections we are left with only
388 in 2017. Only the transformation alone from Dutch Guilder to the
Euro came at a very high expense for the Dutch with a drop from 537 to
504 in 2001. After the accounting offices were done with their
calculations, and the Euro was all up and running the Netherlands had
only 496 municipalities left in 2002. see also
https://www.200ok.nl/aantal-gemeenten/ The EU and the Euro are eating
away Dutch municipalities at an alarming rate. I would call it
something like negative colonialism, where Dutch Governors are using
carnivore methods in their own home towns, eating culture, businesses
and indigenous people away, to maintain their own lifestyle and wealth.
The election fraud, which mainly happened by replacing PVV ballots with
VVD ballots, needed two COVERS. One COVER, which was well broadcasted,
was the Turk demonstration over the last weekend, the other COVER
happened two weeks ago, when the Commissioner of the King in the
province of Drente, Tichelaar, a liberal left party member of the PvdA,
(the political party which was wiped out) was probably blackmailed, and
forced to resign. Drente had been a PvdA stronghold since the ending of
World War II. After the elections of March 15, 2017 all of the municipalities,
more accurate, all of the constituency districts inside the Drente
Province have suddenly become VVD blue strongholds, with no rational or
valid explanation at hand. It smells like something very bad and shady
has happened with this election TK2017.

NL has made a turn to the right, there is no doubt about it. The left got annihilated. Labor Party lost 29 out of their 38 seats. The green left went from 4 to 14 I think but their leader said that although they won seats, never has the Left in NL been this small. The other day some commentator wrote that the Dutch were not angry enough to massively vote for Wilders. That might come if the new government does not fulfill the mandate that has been given.

In the meanwhile, from the makers that brought you "America first, Netherlands second", a new video commenting on a football match between Turkey and NL:

Why do they always say *extreme* right?

In no European country do they have a right wing party. They only have extreme right parties. Why the hole in the spectrum?

Could it be that they want you to think that anyone who is not a socialist is a Hitler, Mussolini, or Franco lover? After all, the non-right parties only have Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, and Mao lovers.

Must be a form of projection.

Ghordius's picture

"In no European country do they have a right wing party. They only have extreme right parties. Why the hole in the spectrum?"

because you don't *see* the parties on the right, in Europe? your media is often busy skipping over the european conservatives, too. besides, coalition politics

well, if you are talking of France, there is a French party called... The Republicans

again, look up EPP. funny how many conservatives Europe has... if you bother to look

BrownCoat's picture

If EPP means 'European People's Party' it does NOT sound conservative to me. It sounds like a united Europe party with a platform that will make liberals, conservatives and greens happy. Across The Pond in the USSA, the GOP is basically a big-government autocratic party and the Dems are a big-government autocratic party. One fascist leaning and the other socialist leaning with a large overlap between the two. The EPP sounds like the same thing, a playground for rich elitists that fools the voters into believing voters have representation.

P.S. I looked at Wikipedia.

"THE HAGUE, 13/09/06 – Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner considers the Netherlands should give Muslims more freedoms to behave according to their traditions. Muslims refusing to shake hands is fine with him. And Sharia law could be introduced in the Netherlands democratically, in the minister’s view.

Muslims have the right to experience their religion in ways that diverge from Dutch social codes, accordign to the Christian democrat (CDA) minister. He thinks Queen Beatrix was very wise not to insist on a Muslim leader shaking hands with her when she visited his mosque in The Hague earlier this year.

Integration Minister Verdonk did previously scold an imam who would not shake her hand. Without directly referring to this incident, Donner considers “a tone that I do not like has crept into the political debate. A tone of: ‘Thou shalt assimilate. Thou shalt adopt our values in public. Be reasonable, do it our way’. That is not my approach”.

Donner strongly disagrees with a recent plea by CDA parliamentary leader Maxime Verhagen for a ban on parties seeking to launch Sharia (Islamic law) in the Netherlands. “For me it is clear: if two-thirds of the Dutch population should want to introduce the Sharia tomorrow, then the possibility should exist,” according to Donner. “It would be a disgrace to say: ‘That is not allowed!’.”
