Comey: "The Russians Concluded Trump Was Hopeless Last August"

Tyler Durden's picture

It appears that Russia fell for the same ruse that much of America, not to mention its press and punditry, was taken by, at least according to the FBI director: believing US polls.

During his hearing before the House Intel Panel, FBI Director James Comey said that the Russians expected Hillary Clinton to win the presidency over Donald Trump as of August and September.

“Late in the summer they concluded based on the polling that a lot of people were reading that Mr. Trump didn’t stand a chance,” said Comey, although it was not clear just how the FBI knew what the Russians "concluded" as of last summer.

The FBI director's extrapolations then continued: “let’s just focus on undermining her,” Comey says of Russian thinking at the time, which however was also confusing as earlier in his testimony Comey said "we saw no efforts aimed at the vote itself."

Comey then disputed the content of a tweet from President Trump regarding Russia influencing the 2016 presidential race.  At the same time that Comey and National Security Agency Director Michael Rogers testified to the House Intelligence Committee about Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election, the president tweeted a video from his @POTUS account, saying "the NSA and FBI tell Congress that Russia did not influence electoral process."

Responding to a question from Rep. Jim Himes about the president’s Twitter post that “The NSA and FBI tell Congress that Russia did not influence electoral process,” Comey said: “We’ve offered no opinion, have no view and have no information on potential impact because it’s never something we looked at.”

Comey was then pressed on whether it was "too far of a logical leap to conclude that the assertion that you have told the Congress that there was no influence on the electoral process is not quite right" to which Comey responded "It certainly wasn't our intention to say that today."

"Because we don't have any information on that subject. That's not something that was looked at."

Comey then again seemed to contradict himself when he said that "we saw efforts to penetrate the voter registration databases."

Five hours after its start, the hearing continues, with numerous extrapolations, with no actual facts presented, as the heads of the FBI and NSA redefine "conspiracy theory."

I apologize but this disinfo, as obvious and clumsy as it may be, deserves a response:

ISRAEL is the biggest threat to the free peoples of Middle Earth. They - and their terror proxies...

What the media misses in the Syrian bloodbath: a 'thank you' to Hillary from Israel

Wikileaks has released what may be the most under-reported story of the year in a year full of them, Hillary Clinton's uncanny fulfillment of Oded Yinon's plan for the Middle East according to Israel 30 years ago. This was summed up in Yinon's "A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties." Yinon, an influential right-wing Israeli strategist, envisioned a Middle East riven with conflict between Arab tribes and religious denominations, unable to oppose Israeli ambitions for regional dominance.

Yinon wrote:
"Iraq, rich in oil on the one hand and internally torn on the other, is guaranteed as a candidate for Israel's targets. Its dissolution is even more important for us than that of Syria. Iraq is stronger than Syria. In the short run it is Iraqi power which constitutes the greatest threat to Israel...Every kind of inter-Arab confrontation will assist us in the short run and will shorten the way to the more important aim of breaking up Iraq into denominations as in Syria and in Lebanon."

The Yinon Plan, “Greater Israel”, Syria, Iraq, and ISIS: the Connection

The Zionist Plan for the Middle East, also known as the Yinon Plan, is an Israeli strategic plan to ensure Israeli regional superiority. It insists and stipulates that Israel must reconfigure its geo-political environment through the balkanization of the surrounding Arab states into smaller and weaker states.

Reach of a "Greater Israel"When viewed in the current context, the war on Iraq, the 2006 war on Lebanon, the 2011 war on Libya, the ongoing war on Syria, not to mention the process of regime change in Egypt, must be understood in relation to the Zionist Plan for the Middle East. The latter consists in weakening and eventually fracturing neighboring Arab states as part of an Israeli expansionist project.

“Greater Israel” consists in an area extending from the Nile Valley to the Euphrates.

Israeli strategists viewed Iraq as their biggest strategic challenge. This is why Iraq was outlined as the centerpiece to the balkanization of the Middle East and the Arab World. In Iraq, on the basis of the concepts of the Yinon Plan, Israeli strategists have called for the division of Iraq into a Kurdish state and two Arab states, one Shiite and the other Sunni.

The Atlantic, in 2008, and the U.S. military’s Armed Forces Journal, in 2006, both published widely circulated maps that closely followed the outline of the Yinon Plan. Aside from a divided Iraq, the Yinon Plan calls for a divided Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria. The Yinon Plan also calls for dissolution in North Africa and forecasts it as starting from Egypt and then spilling over into Sudan, Libya, and the rest of the region.

“Greater Israel” requires the breaking up of the existing Arab states into small states. The plan operates on two essential premises. To survive, Israel must

become an imperial regional power, and
must effect the division of the whole area into small states by the dissolution of all existing Arab states.

Small here will depend on the ethnic or sectarian composition of each state. Consequently, the Zionist hope is that sectarian-based states become Israel’s satellites and, ironically, its source of moral legitimation… This is not a new idea, nor does it surface for the first time in Zionist strategic thinking. Indeed, fragmenting all Arab states into smaller units has been a recurrent theme.

Viewed in this context, the war on Syria is part of the process of Israeli territorial expansion. Israeli intelligence working hand in glove with the US, Turkey and NATO is directly supportive of the Al Qaeda terrorist mercenaries inside Syria.

Why Does Israel Support ISIS?

From the outset of the foreign-sponsored insurrection in Syria, Israel has decidedly backed the armed opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Reports have shown that Israeli forces have been providing safe haven, hospital care and even weaponry to anti-Assad militants, including to the most radical outfits like ISIS and Al-Nusra Front. On top of material and logistical aid, the Israeli air force has unleashed dozens of air strikes on Syrian regime and allied Hezbollah targets throughout the conflict.

Top Israeli officials have repeatedly stressed that they would “prefer” an ISIS victory in Syria over an Assad victory.

The reasons for this are pretty straightforward:
1) The barbaric, savage atrocities conducted by ISIS in Syria and Iraq garners tremendous bad press for Islam in general, which translates into good or less negative coverage of Israel and its criminal activities. ISIS’s cruel and unusual methods of execution (i.e., beheadings, crucifixions, immolations, drownings, stoning, throwing people off of buildings, etc.), which it openly flaunts in macabre propaganda videos, provokes extremely bad headlines which have obscured any sense of proportional coverage of Israel’s ongoing brutality against the Palestinians. With ISIS dominating the headlines and TV newsreels, Israel escapes international opprobrium and has a free hand to act.
2) By using the word “Islamic” in their official title, ISIS’s atrocious acts of brigandry are automatically associated with Islam generally by the less-than-astute general public, which induces fear and animosity towards the entire religion and any group associated with it. Knowing this, Netanyahu and other Israeli imperialists have employed guilt-by-association fallacies to demonize the Muslim groups in conflict with Israel by falsely equating them to ISIS; groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, both of which have condemned the atrocities of ISIS, and the latter organization being on the frontline in Syria in the fight against the terror group. Hostility towards Islam in this day and age usually induces feelings of sympathy and affinity for the Jews and Israel, whose main rivals are Arab and Muslim countries and groups.

Zorba's idea's picture

The strategic objective for the NeoCON/Zionists has been and will remain, the Balkanization of the ME. Stir up all the sectarian conflicts which are embedded in their repective tribal histories until the only thing for NATO to do is break it up into little tribal enclaves. Additionaly, the CIA/Saudi/Mousaad connection, intends to, come what may, to shove a pipeline up Syria's ass to compete against Russia's oil interest in Europe and preserve and protect the Petro dollar franchise. Putin however, isn't going to play Yeltsin for the west, especially with the largest component of his economy. How Donald is going to navigate this quagmire may be reflected by certain players in his cabinet, although I do believe he doesn't want to get entangled in a shooting conflict with Putin. The American empire has a number of hot spots, which given the opportunity should the US get booged down in another major ME conflict might be tempted to act. How many plates can USA!USA!USA! spin globally while its bleeding trillions of dollars of debt? Maybe Comey knows, he's obviously dancing on a string for the globalist elites.

The increase in the military budget of the US cannot be directly compared to the budgets of Russia or anyone else.  Everything is relative, in that different countries have different costs of development and production of weapons, costs of the maintenance of troops, and the like.   The US also has a much wider sphere of influence that it is currently protecting than Russia does.  Also, the quality of its enemies is much higher than that of Russia or China. The US does not face 4th World countries along its borders that it is threatening and intimidating with its military.  It faces 1st or 2nd World militaries that are plotting the destruction of the US and the Western alliance as a whole.

To rebuild the US military to where is can fight a 2 front war again requires vast sums and a considerable period of time, which I believe we will not actually have, as I expect a major war very soon.  Of course, the choice of weapons we are currently deploying is terrible, with the F-35 being a total failure, and most other major weapons programs either being outright failures or producing marginal weapons at exorbitant prices.

A total revamp of the current military development and purchasing system needs to be carried out.  A clean sweep of military leadership needs to be conducted. replacing any and all Obama appointed lackeys.  The FBI and the Intelligence apparatus needs to be overhauled and a thorough cleansing of all Obama influence needs to be conducted.  Comey, of course, needs to be fired, investigated and jailed.

crossroaddemon's picture

Fuck the sphere of influence. If they're not actively fighting a war with the overwhelming approval of the populace (seriously I think the decision to go to war should be referendum only) not a single US soldier should be setting foot outside of the country.

Get rid of the goddamn empire and defence becomes super-cheap.

Shemp 4 Victory's picture

To rebuild the US military to where is can fight a 2 front war again requires vast sums and a considerable period of time

The US does not need to fight a two-front war. In fact, it does not even need a standing army, an air force, or a large navy. The US is defended by the simple geography of two oceans.

which I believe we will not actually have, as I expect a major war very soon.

All wars of the US have been wars of choice.

If Trump doesn't drain the swamp in full ASAP he will be toast.

I've said over and over and over that THIS should be the first priority. It is the logical and strategically correct tactic to start off with. Otherwise, too many headwinds, potential for sabotage, etc. and then Trump looks bad and doesn't get re-elected.

President Trump, PLEASE...

DRAIN THE SWAMP NOW!!!!

ZD1's picture

Under a United States statute that first went into effect in 1968, FBI directors are nominated by the president and must be confirmed by the Senate — a process similar to the nomination and confirmation of Supreme Court justices or presidential cabinet officials.

Unlike the justices, who are appointed for life and cannot be fired — but can be impeached by congress (which has happened only one time in American history) — or cabinet officials who have no set terms, the FBI director is appointed to a single term of 10 years.

The statute establishing the 10-year term limit was passed in 1976, four years after the death of legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, who held on to the job for 48 years.

This ridiculous spectacle gives me the impression that, for some mysterious reason, our elected leaders have to prove to the Deep State that our electing them actually means something.  Who is this Deep State which judges us?  Why do we allow the Deep State to run our country?  Because they are organized and we are not?  I think so.

Again, I think the Deep State is about one-half Roman Catholics and one-half Judaists.  Judaists only have 3% of the voters, so they need the Roman Catholics.  Roman Catholics need the Judaists because the Judaists control the money, through the FED, and that money also funds a lot of spy and black-ops agencies, many of whom we will never even know exist.  The rest of us are peasants, serfs, in the USA, which is now one of the Deep State's imperiala territorial possessions.  Our function is to buy stuff and to provide labor, taxes, and bodies to fight the endless wars the Deep State makes on whatever countries it hasn't taken over yet.  At the moment, Syria and Ukraine.  Tomorrow, any nail that sticks up.  The Deep State is literally the Roman Empire, with Judaists holding the purse strings and Romans and Judaists dividing up the Intelligentsia positions.
