Trump "Endorses" Jeanine Pirro's Call For Paul Ryan To Step Down

Tyler Durden's picture

Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro, whose show President Trump urged his followers on Twitter to watch earlier in the day, opened her program at 9pm on Saturday by calling for Speaker Paul Ryan's resignation.

"Ryan needs to step down as Speaker of the House. The reason, he failed to deliver the votes on his healthcare bill, the one trumpeted to repeal and replace ObamaCare, the one that he had 7 years to work on; the one he hid under lock and key in the basement of Congress; the one that had to be pulled to prevent the embarrassment of not having enough votes to pass." Pirro said in her opening statement.

"Speaker Ryan, you come in with all your swagger and experience and sell them a bill of goods which ends up a complete and total failure and you allow our president, in his first 100 days, to come out of the box like that, based on what?" Pirro said.

What made Pirro's fiery comments about Ryan especially notable is that they came hours after Trump tweeted to encourage his followers to watch "Justice with Judge Jeanine."

While Trump has urged people to watch TV shows in the past, typically it was when the president himself was appearing on them. However in a twist, Pirro suggested that she had not coordinated her statement with Trump in advance.

"I have not spoken with the president about any of this," Pirro said of her call for Ryan to step down on her show, where president's counter-terrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka also appeared on Saturday evening.

On Friday Trump told Ryan to pull the Republican healthcare bill, upon learning there were not enough votes in support among House Republicans. The move marked Trump's first legislative defeat as president and followed seven years of rhetoric from Republicans who campaigned on a pledge to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law.

In the initial round of fingerpointing, Trump blamed Democrats for not backing the GOP healthcare bill, warning that Obamacare would "explode" on its own, and signaled that he would move on to other priorities such as tax reform. On Saturday, the NYT reported that the blame among Trump's closest circles had fallen on Reince Priebus and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, while Ryan was spared Trump's anger. Trump and White House press secretary Sean Spicer also indicated that they appreciated Ryan's effort to get the bill passed, amid criticism from some Trump allies over the failed effort.

Following the Pirro statement, the blame now appears to have shifted back to Ryan, as Bloomberg originally reported on Friday.

Pirro insisted in her first segment that the failure was on Ryan and not on Trump. "Folks, I want to be clear. This is not on President Trump," she said. "No one expected a businessman to completely understand the nuances, the complicated ins and outs of Washington and its legislative process. How would he know on what individuals he could rely?"

"Ryan has hurt you going forward, and he's got to go," Pirro said.

Trump knows Ryan is a glonalist scumbag. He's hip to his jive. This bill was his baby. Only a fool, or globalist scum, would try and pin this on Trump.

Makes you wonder if Trump knew it would never pass and use it as an excuse to get rid of RINO Ryan?

The Trump administration is increasingly showing itself to be breathtakingly incompetent, and that's the real lesson of the collapse of the GOP health care bill. The administration proved unable to organise its way out of a paper bag: After seven years of Republicans' publicly loathing Obamacare, their repeal-replace bill failed after 18 days.

Politics sometimes rewards braggarts, and Trump is a world-class boaster. He promised a health care plan that would be "unbelievable", "beautiful", "terrific", "less expensive and much better", "insurance for everybody". But he's abysmal at delivering — because the basic truth is that he's an effective politician who's utterly incompetent at governing.

It's sometimes said that politicians campaign in poetry and govern in prose. Trump campaigns in braggadocio and governs in bombast.

Whatever one thinks of Trump's merits, this competence gap raises profound questions about our national direction. If the administration can't repeal Obamacare — or manage friendly relations with allies like Mexico or Australia — how will it possibly accomplish something complicated like tax reform?

Failure and weakness also build on themselves, and the health care debacle will make it more difficult for Trump to get his way with Congress on other issues. As people recognise that the emperor is wearing no clothes, that perception of weakness will spiral.

Of all the national politicians I've seen over the decades, Trump may be the one least interested in government or policy; he's absorbed simply with himself. And what we're seeing more clearly now is that he has crafted an administration in his own image: vain, narcissistic and dangerous

"...or manage friendly relations with allies like Mexico or Australia..."

Yeah about that, you do realize listening in on a secured private WH line without a warrant and then transmitting what was said (partially or in whole) to the press is a felony right?

Clearly the scripts for Fox & Friends is being leaked to the So-Called President ... this demands an investigation ... after we find the 3-5M illegal votes ... sort out Russian dealings ... figure out a budget for April ... do something that looks like an effort on healthcare which we waited 7 years to botch ... do something remotely successful re taxes ... and interview Manafurt, Flynn, Sessions, et all

Tired of ALL THIS "winning"?

But no dice...instead of repeal and replace the house speaker and his minions concocted a terrible 3 phase plan that was a modified version of existing law coined "Obama Care lite". The lite version resulted in about 24 million losing coverage, expected rate increases of 10-20% annually for the next 3 years and only a cost savings of 160B over 10 years...What a piece of crap, and worse the speaker thought it would pass, even if it has passed it was doomed in the Senate. What were they thinking?

Oh, Shamus, you have NO IDEA how troubled this individual is.  He has trolled and spammed his website crap on here forever, always with the same macabre conversations with a long series of "imaginary playmates." It really is quite perverse and whoever "he" is, he seems to really get his rocks off with ANOTHER chronic spammer, XYTHRAS, who also appears to have no life beyond making off-topic comments with his link to the SPAM-, TROJAN-, VIRUS-INFESTED  "dailywesterner, com"

Other ZHers  may wish to take one minute to send an email to abuse@zerohedge.com requesting that all of the "imaginary friends" (in the list below; copy and paste) as well as XYTHRAS  be permanently banned for spamming.

As you do that, use your imagination to try to conceive of what type of whackadoo would spend their life in pajamas, eating stale chips and drinking cheap soda from the dollar store, popping zits and spamming zerohedge.

Many of the following have been banned but, like crabs and cockroaches, they just seem to come back.  The "short list of imaginary playmates" includes:

We still haven't seen the money. Documents... verified by  a disinterested third party... or it didn't happen. That goes for both sides ofthe aisle. We have to assume EVERYONE is compromised.

nmewn's picture

I understand what you're saying but I dunno that we really do now, they "unmasked" an American citizen when Michael Flynns name appeared in the press, that name can only be gotten one way, through surveillance by warrant or illegal becomes almost irrelevant now due to the fact its a felony to release an Americans name without charges or trial.

crossroaddemon's picture

We don't know what really happened in the Flynn case and probably never will. Clearly your cynicism quotient is notas high as mine...

nmewn's picture

We know the conversation with the Russian ambassador happened in late December 2016 (before Trump was sworn in) and the first story appeared in the press on January 13 2017...again...before Trump took office and Obama "advisers" were briefed on what was said by the FBI.

If it was an illegal tap/hack its a felony and releasing his name into the press is a second felony (thats two ten year felonies for everyone involved).

If it was a legal tap/hack under FISA then Team Obama has been caught lying (yet again, specifically Rhodes) and releasing his name by him or them (or anyone with knowledge of it) into the press is still a felony (one ten year felony for everyone involved).

The policy is exactly as Trey Gowdy outlined when he got James Comey to appear in front of him, any & all American citizens names are to be redacted when the NSA-CIA-FBI is doing surveillance on a foreigner (the Russian ambassador) for obvious reasons.

If they were specifically targeting Flynn (again, an American citizen still charged with absolutely nothing) they better have had a warrant and any "evidence" presented to a FISA judge/court in order to obtain that warrant better be real (unlike Risen or Rosen) but still releasing his name into the press for obvious political purpose is a ten year felony for anyone involved in its release.

Interesting to note that this information came out the day after Obama signed his infamous executive order...

In its final days, the Obama administration has expanded the power of the National Security Agency to share globally intercepted personal communications with the government’s 16 other intelligence agencies before applying privacy protections.

Now the only issue is to prove that this was done to leak info to sink Trump and that they sent this info even before the order to the Clinton team.

Yah, what we really needed was 8 more years of  Obama policies orchestrated by Criminal Hillary.  Ryan's version of the bill sucked and I'm glad he got his ass kicked.  Trump should have never endorsed him (wanted those Wisconsin votes).  Problem with Trump is he wants everyone insured instead of wanting good healthcare available to everyone.  This loss is a good indication that his family leave plan won't pass either.

You exhibit a truly breathtaking lack of self awareness.

Trump has humiliated the RINOs with this move. There is a reason the Freedom Caucus gave him a standing ovation, and then didn't vote for the bill.

Next, Obamacare will fail, and the Democrats will be forced to own that failure. Then everyone will be forced to the table, and Trump will get everything he ever wanted, and for far, far less than it would have cost him had they all simply co-operted at the beginning. This is EXACTLY like how he acquired Mar-a-Lago, for a third of his initial offer.

Joe Sichs Pach's picture

Don't underestimate the dems ability to deflect, distract, obfuscate and twist rhetoric on blaming the failure of Obamacare elsewhere.
The compliant MSM will be more than happy to help them do it.
