Trump Tells Members Of Congress He Is Considering Military Action In Syria

Tyler Durden's picture

It appears that the neo-cons are on the verge of victory again: according to CNN, Trump has told some members of Congress that he is considering military action in Syria in retaliation for this week’s chemical attack and recognizes the seriousness of the situation, a source familiar with the calls tells CNN.

CNN hedges by noting that its source said the president had not firmly decided to go ahead with it, but said he was discussing possible actions with Defense Secretary Mattis. Trump is relying on Mattis' judgment, according to the source.

US officials told CNN "the Pentagon has long standing options to strike Syria’s chemical weapons capability and has presented those options to the administration."

The sources stressed a decision has not been made.

We now look forward to Russia's response as the geopolitical situation in Syria devolves to precisely where it was during the Obama administration.

This will be the end of Trump's political career if he does this.

Killer the Buzzard's picture

That would be a crushing disappointment.  I dared to hope things would be different and Trump would keep the neocons in check.  I feel played.

the neocons have convinced him that THIS is the ONLY way to win, anything...A$$holes

Does anyone remember the end of season 4 in House of Cards? Behind in the polls, losing support for his agenda, and seeking to distract from his failings, President Frank Underwood decides to escalate to full on war.

I feel like I'm watching the rerun.

God help us all.

The Neocons are rejoicing in jubilation.

McCain is so happy, his hemorrhoids just burst.

I think my Geiger counter needs new batteries.   ;-)

Donaldo You Are Being SUCKED INTO WARS+++, Or was it your plan all along Anyway???

If he really falls for this obvious fals flag stunt, then he is much, much dumber than I ever thought.

Or, that false flag provides him with the justification to make a U turn and do what he actually wanted to do (or has been forced to by the deeep $tate) and all this other talk of "ISIS as top priority" was just smoke and mirrors.

Or, these "considering military action" statements are the smoke and mirror. Being aware that it's a false flag and the deeep $tate wants to force him into Syria - and if he resists, they pull out the "Russian Agent" bs again.

I do hope Trump understands that Russia will not idly sit by and just watch an Anglo-Zionist-Turkish attack on Syrian troops. There will be a price to pay - possibly a very high one, and possibly by millions if not billions of people.

meanwhile, the stockk market celebrates the latest idiotic tweets from Enron Musk and Jeff Bozo.

Interesting. Trump knows 100% it's a false flag. Smart guy, speaks simply for benefit of his audience. If this is being reported by CNN it's possibly a pressure tactic. But yes it would be political suicide for Trump. I think he's having a hard time against a very powerful shadow government.

Pinto Currency's picture

Tough to feel you're getting sage advice from a guy named 'Mad Dog'.

Shemp 4 Victory's picture

Gotta strike now before strong evidence reveals the chemical attack as the fraud that it is.

SofaPapa's picture

So the swamp stays and Trump gets on board.

Given the obvious, in-our-face, reversals of rhetoric our last three presidents have all gone through upon election, one gets the sense there is something the shadow government is literally terrified of.  They are pushing us toward nuclear war as their best option.  What are the other options in that decision?  What could be worse than nuclear exchange between Russia and the US?  As Trump - correctly - pointed out before assuming the presidential persona, even if true (which is extremely unlikely given that it can only harm Assad; there was zero benefit to him using chemical weapons), is the best response to a low number of people dying tragically and evilly to create a situation where billions are likely to die tragically and evilly?

This is more surreal than any situation I could imagine in a million years.

Sick Underbelly's picture

Question:  "What could be worse than nuclear exchange between Russia and the US?"

Answer:  AMERICAN REVOLUTION 2.0

That would pretty much ensure the demise of the ~4.3 million government moochers, propaganda apparatus, mind-control freaks....OH!, and the CENTRAL BANKERS FUNDING ALL THIS.

Trump and his family have had their lives threatened.

Why is no one questioning the role of the UN in all of this, for what fucking good it is, it may as well just be disbanded because the US is a loose cannon, running roughshod over any country it wants without concequence.Russia,Iran,China need to put the US on notice "IF YOU FUCK WITH SYRIA, YOU FUCK WITH US"

land_of_the_few's picture

So given that Assad doen't have and doesn't need to use chem weapons, and the rebels did...who will get the strike? The White Helmets? They probably did it anyway.

this is the sound of millions of trusting people withdrawing support from you.

you held the hopes of 100s of millions of americans in your hands, based on the promises you made. do this and it is the end of you except for the blackened name which will go down in history along with brutus and arnold.

Possibly.

We hear so little from him anymore, it's hard to know.

Mr. President, talk to US.

WE are your support.

If you're being harassed, pressured, or threatened...TELL US.

We'll be in DC with the tools needed to finally clean that sumbitch up.

Talk.

Directly.

Us.

Otherwise...you ARE them.

We CAN handle the truth.

Give US the chance.

Well, seems like everyone has fallen for it. Good thing, I guess. Wouldn't want some neocon shithead reading comments on the internet and realizing he has been duped.

Words speak louder than actions which speak even louder than outcomes.

I'm glad you posted that picture. I was just thinking about Wag the Dog.

With Trump considering military action against Syria, it occurred to me that China could have more leverage than Russia. It would be leverage in the financial markets, as well as in trade.

Same here, but I emailed. Trump has so far been a great disappointment. I had resolved to never vote again, realizing the futility, but saw a sliver of hope with Trump's message.

Now I feel like Charlie Brown, lying on his back after Lucy promised to hold the football, but once again, pulling it away.

dizzyfingers's picture

I wasn't going to vote either but during the last year felt more hopeful due to what Trump's writers had him say. ;-)

I didn't vote in my village election yesterday and for me thats the trend for the future.

I wonder what kind of spin Alex Jones will put on all of this.

He was the one waking me up, but for 5-7 years now I lost trust in him. He went all out for Trump, now what?

Hey Jones, you should've stuck to your principles, not your so called "gut".

Aren't we all tired of all this bullshit? Partisans, warriors, patriots, sjw, super bowl (advertisments). Political speech, where 30 min of words equal 2 seconds of truth.

Trump hasn't blown it all, but he's well on his way.

Let's embrace ZH, as long as it lasts - and as long as we last, or allowed to spew "hatred" by the Tylers.

If this actually happens, I hope Russian weapons systems in Syria come to bear on the aggressors.

Yeees because the Us only fights with lesser opponents. I hope they get some balls this time but I doubt it.

NotApplicable's picture

As soon as I saw the ISIS guy insulting Trump, I knew it was only a short matter of time before he would feel the need to invade Syria. All that was missing was a false-flag to rally behind.

Honestly, insulting him is the easiest way to control him.

He has been trapped by his own narcissism.

man of Wool's picture

Why not create an ISIS false flag? This incident doesn't follow your logic. Wrong false flag.

Its more an invite to get involved fighting ISIS, fighting Assad, and getting boots on the ground in Syria. I wonder what Mad Dog's approach will be to Russian military and Al-Qaida?

Donald could be taking America back to dog shit city in the ME if he isn't careful.

NihilistZerO___'s picture

I can only hope that "Military Action" ultimately means action against the Al Queda and ISIS terrorists who executed the flase flag.  I will give Donald credit for always choosing his words carefully.  Art of the Deal basics.  At no opint so far has he attriobuted the attacks to Assad (to my knowlege).  If this is the anti-Deep State head fake of all times and The Donald comes out of his meetings with Xi and Putin with an alliance to crush the terrorists in Syria, I will gladly let the Donald pee on my bed.

Well stated and sound analysis.

I wonder when the next time our counry won't be at war will be? My guess, when there is no more United States. Freedom loving, peace loving, country? Yea, special interest, war mongering, country of drug addicts and money dominance through OPEC and the Fed.

king leon's picture

"At no point so far has Trump attributed the attacks to Assad" (to my knowledge)        TRUMP: quote "this are not just a red line this is many many red lines.

NihilistZerO___'s picture

Many, many red lines could be attribute dto the ISIS/Al Nursa terrorists.  Believe me, I'm done with him if he sends the US military against the Syrian Army and Assad.  But he did leave himself some room and he has yet to betray us on this.  If he does betray us, fuck the cocksucker.

Some semblance of border security and a few jobs returning to the states is no grand trade for the continued proxy wars we are fighting for the Israelis and Saudis.  They don't even hide that they are on the same side anymore.  Riydah and Tel Aviv have had complete control of our foreign policy since the 9/11 false flag that they perpetuated with the help of the CIA.  It's a fucking fact that Americans need to accept, but are unwilling or unable to.
