Russian PM: "US On Brink Of Military Clash With Russia"

Tyler Durden's picture

In a statement on Friday morning, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the US missile strike violated not only international, and added that the attack “was on the brink of military clashes with Russia.”

“Instead of their much-publicized thesis about a joint fight with a common enemy, Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL], the Trump administration has proven that it will fiercely fight against the legal government of Syria,” Medvedev wrote on his Facebook page.

Ealier in the day, the Kremlin released a statement according to which "President Putin views the U.S. strikes on Syria as aggression against a sovereign state in violation of the norms of international law and on a made-up up pretext. This step by Washington will inflict major damage on U.S.-Russia ties."

"President Putin views the U.S. strikes on Syria as aggression against a sovereign state in violation of the norms of international law and on a made-up up pretext," said a Kremlin statement. "This step by Washington will inflict major damage on U.S.-Russia ties."

Moscow suspended communication with U.S. forces designed to stop planes colliding over Syria. A Russian frigate carrying cruise missiles sailed through the Bosphorus Strait into the Mediterranean Sea, although there was no indication it was directly in response to U.S. action.

Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Criss told Reuters that the situation in Syria "amounts to an international armed conflict" following U.S. missile strikes on a Syrian airbase.

"Any military operation by a state on the territory of another without the consent of the other amounts to an international armed conflict," ICRC spokeswoman Iolanda Jaquemet told Reuters in Geneva in response to a query.

"So according to available information - the U.S. attack on Syrian military infrastructure - the situation amounts to an international armed conflict."

Previous air strikes on Syrian territory by a U.S.-led coalition have been against only the militant group Islamic State, which is also the enemy of the Syrian government. Russia has carried out air strikes in tandem with its ally Syria since Sept. 2015, while Iranian militias are also fighting alongside the troops of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. ICRC officials were raising the U.S. attack with U.S. authorities as part of its ongoing confidential dialogue with parties to the conflict, Jaquemet said, declining to give details.

The ICRC, guardian of the Geneva Conventions setting down the rules of war, declared Syria an internal armed conflict - or civil war, in layman's terms - in July 2012.

Under international humanitarian law, whether a conflict is internal or international, civilians must be spared and medical facilities protected. Warring parties must observe the key principles of precaution and proportionality and distinguish between combatants and civilians.

Can't believe Trump could be that stupid.

Think of this differently: last year the U.S. dropped 12k bombs in Syria. This year we dropped 59 missiles ON Syria. The difference is who we bombed. Last year it was ISIS, this year it's the sovereign govt of Syria.

Oh what a difference the context can make.

WW3 here we come.

You're right unless we allow the mujahadeens to flood into israel and get rid of that pest of a country.

This is not a video game, people.  This is not something we just sit back and watch on our Talmudvision screens.  This is the real deal... a "foe" who can actually retaliate in kind to whatever munitions we throw at them.  For God's sake, we must NOT let this happen.  It's hard to believe that we've been so duped by Trump's "peace with Russia" rhetoric during the campaign.  May God help us to thwart the (((eternal enemies))) of mankind who have orchestrated all this.

Jim in MN's picture

Retaliation in kind is so outre these days.

Asymmetric warfare is where it's AT, baby!!!

Now, about those Russian attack subs.....gotta be around here somewhere........

Literally no difference between Trump and Hillary at this point:

“I really believe,” Clinton said, as Reuters reported, “we should have and still should take out his air fields and prevent him from being able to use them to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them.”

Notveryamused's picture

Spent a lot of time defending Trump on this forum but unless he somewhow demonstrates this was a move with a positive greater purpose very quickly other than negating pro-Russian claims with a single once off limited attack then he really does appear to be the weakest most inept loser in history who's support should rightly plummet to zero on the back of such an obvious false flag.

The_Juggernaut's picture

Look no further than the reaction on ZH to know that he's not controlled by the Russians, lol.

Benefits include, but are not limited to:

brings the neocons on board which helps him domestically

puts Xi and King Jong Buttplug on notice

Well, a nuclear war with Russia would at least solve lots of issues - and at once! Barrycare, taxes, infrastructure. Everthing becomes a moot point after just a short half an hour....

I know, because Hiroshima and Nagasaki are just...GONE.

Oh wait. I had a very nice sushi dinner in Hiroshima two years ago.

This idea that this half baked attack, making a few holes in a runway in Syria puts Xi on notice that he must somehow rein in Kim Jong-un to the satisfaction of Trump, is just laughable.

If I was Xi, I would remind Trump, that he's attacking a sovereign state in an act of war, and if he were to do that to North Korea, they would be perfectly justified in raining down salvos of missiles on US bases in South Korea only a few miles away, in which there are literally thousands of US military personnel. I would warn Trump casually that any attack of this kind against North Korea will be justifiably answered in kind and in multiples of force, to be supported by China.

And as Russia supports Syria, so China will not stand by to allow US to repeat their atrocities of 1950-53 on the North Koreans by pulling the same stupidity in N. Korea.

If cavalier illegal use of military aggression is Trump's and his advisers' idea of a message, he just might get the answer he doesn't want, ie a hot war with two major powers, Russia and China, with a likelihood of the use of nuclear weapons, on two fronts.

And on the other side, to look at this as an internal message to the Neocons and hawks inside US government, is even more ridiculous and unacceptable to the world at large, that Trump would use an act of war overseas to gain political kudos at home.

And they call Kim Jon-un a madman? He seems more than justified in having created a nuclear deterrent to the criminal state terrorism of the USA.

Where will this madness end?

BTW some 20 odd cruse missiles are missing from their target. Did the Russians quietly intercept them over the sea, like they did at the beginning of this Syrian conflict? (I doubt either the Pentagon or the Kremlin would confirm that!) I suspect that's very likely, though.

QuantumEasing's picture

I think my cat is creating a nuclear deterrent.

Can't wait for Elon Musk to claim that he now has "The Bomb."

After all, it's not like you need any proof.

Just post extremely bad footage of something that might be an explosion (never mind that it looks like a large quantity of gasoline going off, looking at YOU CHINA), and poof, you are in the Nukuler Klub.

Anybody with above room temp IQ that looks into this for even five minutes should realize they've been played. Badly.

Teja's picture

Why, that should be clear - impressing President Xi, pushing him to action regarding North Korea? Thought that was obvious. Not much to do with Syria.

wildbad's picture

imo its either right or its wrong. it is just as wrong for trump as it was under obama and would have been under killary.

trump promised to end this mass murder in exchange for our votes. when you start shaving principles down soon they are gone and there is just shaving and moral relativity.

he bought the silly lie of assad using poison gas on his own people. he has shown me that he would rather show what he can do as opposed to showing sober restraint. that is a serious lack of character and judgement.

i am crushed but that's nothing compared to the sigmal it sends to the neocons, to russia, to the world and to americans who gleefully ignore mass murder by their government based on the same propaganda sources that they were calling fake news moments before.

It always amazes me how the intellectuals try to soften language to keep the goy from freaking out. Just like "shell shock" turned to "battle fatigue" turned to "post-traumatic stress disorder" (doubling the amount of syllables every time), civil war is now "internal armed conflict" and world war is "international armed conflict", doubling and quadrupling the amount of syllables needed.

Carlin was right again.

Neocons have taken over Trump. This is really bad. Their firing Bannon.

Socratic Dog's picture

Yeah.  Seems pretty clear Bannon was a palace coup.  Maybe the sole voice of reason in the Zionist administration.

Well, it shouldn't be a surprise to us.  Surrounded himself with GS alumni and the MIC....but we just kept on hoping.

I suspect Trump's just a dumb, uneducated, maleable fuck, perfect representative for the sheeple.  One of their own.  Didn't Mencken say something about that?

If this was a real chemical attack launched by Assad, I may be able to stomach this. If he wiped out a chemical weapons depot, no Russian cassualties, and he calls it good, I can stomach this. But if this turns out to be a false flag or if he continues to push, then I can't support that. Sure, take out the chemical weapons depot if they exist. Message sent, no chemical weapons or there will be consequences. But, he needs to leave it at that.

If this turns into a full fledged ground war, I will not support that action.

NugginFuts's picture

No chemical weapons were harmed during the making of this false flag "retaliation" event. Just some Syrian dirt and about 6 soldiers apparently.

Seriously, why is this being called retaliation? Media keeps billing it as though this were payback for something. NO U.S. citizens were involved, most evidence points to it all being faked anyway, and yet we're attacking sovereign nations without a declaration of war.

Trump was supposed to be against such folly. Seems he's either lost control or he lied, you choose.

Tiwin's picture

This more than anything else illustrates the the 'liberal bias' media is fully behind Trump.

When it comes to war for Mother Israel tht is. The rest is unimportant distractive bullshit.

"Please dont throw me in the briar patch!"

Patriot Eke's picture

Foxnews is already reporting that a "Coalition to remove Assad" is being prepared. We all know what that means. Boots are already on the ground there, but that means they are preparing to invade.

lucitanian's picture

"Sure, take out the chemical weapons depot if they exist."

That's just what the Syrian airforce did.

Wake up! You seem to be a little behind the plot!

"no chemical weapons or there will be consequences" And you believe that despite their training, support, and finance of Al Nusra the CIA/US/Israel/NATO/etc. did not know that the Al Nusra front was stocking and using chemical weapons to mount false flag attacks on Syrian civilians?

Is it warm down there in the sand where your burrying your head?

Assad is not a stupid man.

Using WMDs just days after being told the US will not interfere has the marks of ((The Usual Suspects)).

>You think every last single one is conspiring to kill all the white people?

Collectively, yes.  Biologists use the term extinction.  Neanderthals are an invasive species

Socratic Dog's picture

Kevin MacDonald (Occidental Observer) writes prolifically about the evolutionary force of jewish culture.  It survives and thrives by destroying white culture, and white  civilization at the end of the day.

Is evolution a conspiracy?  Or is it just "is"?  Outcome is the same, unless white culture starts getting smart and decides to untie its own hands before it gets into the ring.

We've tied our own hands behind our backs, and we wonder why we're getting punched in the face?

Jews, unsurprisingly, tell us there's no such thing as evolution (struggle for survival) on the cultural level.  Very convenient.
