South Korean Paper Reports China Has Deployed 150,000 Troops To North Korea Border

Tyler Durden's picture

While the catalyst is unclear, it appears the market dropped as headlines of further sanctions against Russia appeared and reports of China deploying 150,000 troops to its North Korea border.

According to Korean news agency Chosun, the "Chinese army has deployed about 150,000 troops to the North Korean border in two groups to prepare for unforeseen circumstances." The reason: the prospect of "military options", such as preemptive attacks on North Korea, like the one the United States launched on Syria.

More Google translated:

As the United States announced its independent North Korean behavior and moved the United States Navy's nuclear-powered Calvinus (CVN-70) carrier class to Singapore, the Chinese army has deployed about 150,000 troops in two groups to prepare for unforeseen circumstances.

"The report said. It is because of the prospect of taking "military options", such as preemptive attacks on North Korea, just as the United States has launched an air raid on Syria.

Japan's Sankei Shimbun reported on the 9th that the Syrian missile strike in the United States shocked China, suggesting that the People's Liberation Army forces are moving toward the Yalu River, .

The newspaper said the video was also broadcast on the Internet, but the authorities removed the relevant information, saying the move was a medical and aft support unit for the Shenyang bulb (the northern light bulb)

Another possible catalyst is a report by Russia's interfax that Moscow is preparing for more sanctions, and has warned local air companies about a possible suspension of charter flights with Tu

Whatever the catalyst, the reaction is clear:

Dropping stocks below the levels right before Syrian airstrikes began...

The Dow is back at crucial support at the 50--day moving average...

Taking everything but Trannies back into the red for the day.

Gold is bid back over $1250 as USDJPY suddenly plunges.

Absolutely, and let's face it, it's all merely conjecture and speculation, as I do occupy the cheap seat. Hard to say really, although many possibilities, but I always go with historical precedent, the little guy generally speaking, almost always, get's boned ...

Dated Tomahawk missiles disposed of for free (no weapons disposal costs). Check.

Fat contracts to replace $1 million weapons of destruction. Check.

The war profiteers are bi-winning.

As to geopolitical motivations and  implications, the exercise is left to the reader. Spoiler: NK

Most of our actions to send messages involve Raytheon lately it seems.

I was surprised that so many of them didn't make it. They were the shit in the 90s. They did the heavy lifting so our jets could get in there. Now it seems we are slipping in even the one area where we have excelled, war hardware. I'm not upset at that at all though.

I bet you there are a lot of nations looking now at buying Russian tech. Just like after the Georgian conflict.

So the message we sent might have been worse than doing nothing at all. Let's hope so. I loathe our foreign policy.

El Vaquero's picture

We've had, and retired more advanced cruise missiles than the Tomahawk.  It is likely that we have some pretty scary shit right now.  I saw an intervfiew with a F22 pilot, and he said that your average enemy pilot isn't going to know that he is even there until the missile explodes next to his canopy.  If that pilot's statement wasn't just a boast and was 100% accurate, that is an indicator that we probably have some sort of stealth air to air missile.  We started researching those in the '90s or thereabouts, then everything went quiet on it.  I know that we had the equivalent for cruise missiles, because that is what was retired.  Look up the Advanced Cruise Missile if you are interested.  Tomahawks are old tech for the MIC.

pods's picture

I think he was talking about that direct link that the F22 uses. There is a plane way back with active radar and it relays that to a plane within firing range. So the enemy sees the plane out of range but not the one that is close enough to fire. idk though. I haven't kept up with with tech lately. I just cant watch that stuff anymore knowing what I know now.

El Vaquero's picture

The only snag when developing a stealth air to air missle is hiding the heat signature.  You could do that by 1) slowing the missile down, because you're not going to need a mach 5 missile if an enemy pilot doesn't know you are there and is just cruising at subsonic speeds and 2) getting right behind the pilot so that any instruments looking for an IR signature have a hard time distinguishing the missile from the enemy plane's own exhaust.  IDK, I haven't seen any research data on it, but like I say, we were looking into it 20+ years ago.

JohninMK's picture

The problem is that stealth is low visibility not no visibility. There are radar systems out there that can track most things, including the F-22, its just that they are pretty large and can't really fit in a fighter. But they are there and the data they gather can be fed to a friendly fighter.

So just as the F-22 can be fed data on its target so that target can also be fed data.

The F-22s main problem is that its lifeline tanker aircraft plus AWACs are very vulnerable indeed. There are missiles in the S-400 batteries that are specifically designed to take them out at very long range. No tanker no get home, especially with the short range F-35.

BigJim's picture

I read Tomahawks cost around $630k each, whereas S300's are nearer a million.

If only 23 Tomahawks made it to that airfiled, knocking down the other 36 cost Russia $36 million.

Maybe Vladimir will take it out of Bashar's pocket money.

El Vaquero's picture

What if this was a deception and Vlad was in on it?  I'm not committing to any viewpoint right now, but all possibilities should be considered.  Trump's appointees aren't even giving us a consistent message.  On one hand, Assad has got to go, and on the other, he doesn't, depending on which swamp dweller you listen to.  Is that because they are like a bunch of kids running around yelling whatever they want, or is their incoherent message to keep everybody confused?

sleigher's picture

Sounds to me like everyone is running around saying whatever they want to make an incoherent message be what Trump can do.  Even though CNN says he is president now, they still hate him I think.

No S300's or 400's were used. Only old-ass Syrian systems using bullets, not missiles. At least, if the videos that I've seen are accurate.

Maybe Putin sent a chilling message to Trump. the 36 Tomahawks that didn't make it to their target dropped into the sea, it is far more than a coincidence that the missiles that targeted the runway dropped into the sea so did Putin send a massage to Trump by not only jamming the missiles but also hacking into the guidance system to get access to the coordinates like Iran did with RQ170 top secret spy drone and landing it in Iran. this will send shock waves through the US navy rendering it defenseless to Russian attack.

perkunas's picture

Accually I heard it the other way, the missiles were to be shot down, but only 36 got shot down the russian equpment was not as good as they thought.

Adahy's picture

S300's and 400's were not used. They are for the big-boy missiles and aircraft, not firecrackers.

If ya watch Netflix foreign movies ya might notice there ain't a lotta love between the Chinese and Korean people with the fued going back well over a thousand years and that's from film makers from Korea and China.

Other factors play in also, Norks are young and resource rich, Chinese old and broke and numerous, China sees Norks as solution to their fiscal problems (steal Norks shit) that's why China supports Nork Communism, (keeps Norks broke) Norks see China as big brother cold war ally-but cold war is over, Norks like teens in midwest, get trends 20 years after everybody else. (Hey Omaha Tattoos and Mexican invasion hitting next 10 years, then Communism).

Well, with our missile diplomacy, we really deserve what's coming to us. We have destroyed like a half dozen countries in the last 10 years. Ukraine, Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan, Irag, Syria, Yemen and probably a couple I don't know about yet. Shit, that's seven.
The truth is, the USA is the most dangerous country on earth. WE are a threat to world peace. Not any of these little tinpot nations who lob a half dozen test missiles.
We sent 59 towards a sovereign nation without a declaration of war.

Iran has tested a dozen or so, and NK has fired off what, a half dozen. And those were TEST launches.

We just committed an act of war and we are talking about others?

Glad that Syria/Russia took so many of them down, maybe our armchair generals and Orange Jesus will think twice next time.

BigJim's picture

The US must have thousands of Tomahawks in their arsenal. I wonder how many S300s there are?

China has a game plan for that area of the world and other places and so do Russia.  These guys can easily work out a deal to work together to make the US weaker in order to grab more territory and more power.

I'm almost done listening to an interview done 3 hrs ago on ROGUE MONEY

*The Sirius Report with London Paul (04/10/2017) *

This is surely a 'must listen' analysis, without the typical hyperbole one get's from any american alt-media regarding Trump's bombing of Syria.

A truly spot-on description of what happens next.

Trump screwed up royally & China and Russia have had enough of the BS.

Bad news for America regardless.

SwapThis's picture

Sounds like it is still possible that Trump while surprised by the possible Chem False Flag in Syria, has turned it to his advantage by cutting a deal with Xi to allow NK FatBoy to be retired from the field.  150K troops on NK border could just be preparation to repell borders against a rush of those trying to get out when the State fails or is kneecapped.

Russian situation is a slap in the face to Putin, but he is an Oil Billionaire. My guess is both he and Xi like to make $$ more than war and would rather keep living in the lap of luxury vs a bunker.

My 2 cents

Looking at the GLASS as HALF FULL, maybe China has decided to reign in North Korea.

Message to the US:

- No military intervention required, we will take care of this issue.

Message to North Korea:

- Quit sending up missiles or else.

In the end, CHINA will be the great stabilizing force in the region maybe? QED.

imaginalis's picture

150,000 troops? That's just one of their patrols.

nonclaim's picture

The number is certainly impressive... But on the logistics side nobody moves that many people on a finger snap. So it is either a "150000" chinese alibaba spec or something that will take months (or has been going on for months).

Adahy's picture

Many were already in the area. China keeps a large force near the border for obvious reasons. All the troops are likely in the Northern Theater Command.

Tis true, tis true, always look on the bright side of life , much better than contemplating the bright FLASH of light ..

Still, sooner or later, they keep dicking around, moving chess pieces around, sooner or later ...

And let's face it, it's not like the over population / debt bubble's haven't been discussed at length ..

My reasoning is, the sociopaths are in charge running things, and quite obviously do not give a shit about the "common folk" or what they think, it's a recipe for disaster. Now one did not need much imagination to figure a "false flag" but perhaps we await the mother of them all ...

Itchy fingers, anti social behavior, mental shortcomings, massive indebtedness, peak bullshit .. ...

Not a good combo ...

SmittyinLA's picture

I don't think China could beat the Norks, Norks have nukes, and all routes from China are well covered, Norks are more China's problem than ours or South Koreas, China has more undefended targets from Norks missiles than anybody else.

Norks are a far bigger threat to China and vice versa than to Americans, Japan or South Korea.

Wait till Norks figure out they were duped by Communist chinese and Goldman Sachs who now owns their collective lands.

Cold war ended 1991-all bets are off.

HRClinton's picture

Not so. If the US attacks NK, all bets are off and China will aid NK in taking over SK.

Notice also the classic 3:1 troop ratio (150,000:50,000) of Chinese to US troops in SK.

Predict that NK nukes make it to Iran, if attacked. A self-fulfilling prophecy will occur - NK using or giving nukes to pre-selected Jihadis  - if the US strikes.

Trump is incompetent and Mad Dog is mad. I can just see it: "Mad Dog Unchained".

GUS100CORRINA's picture

Just a side note ...

Because North Korea is NOT in the BIBLE, they are irrelevant in the bigger picture.

However, IRAN, RUSSIAN, SYRIA and CHINA are in the BIBLE and therefore very relevant.

North Korea is simply a PIMPLE on the ASS of PROGRESS toward the end.

By the way, the USA is NOT in the BIBLE explicitly. I will let you draw your own conclusions.

Below are some verses conserning SYRIA that are very relevant to today:

Isaiah 17:1-3 (NIV)

A Prophecy Against Damascus

17 A prophecy against Damascus: (from the LORD GOD)

1. See, Damascus will no longer be a city

but will become a heap of ruins.

2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted

and left to flocks, which will lie down,

with no one to make them afraid.

3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,

    and royal power from Damascus;

the remnant of Aram will be

like the glory of the Israelites,”

declares the Lord Almighty.

Bottom LIne: ASSAD might as well pack his bags and leave because he is finished according to the Lord GOD. If GOD be for it, who can be against it?

Adahy's picture

Not explicitly, but we all know who modern Babylon is.
The same story plays out in our prophecies (First Nations) as well. It's all coming together, Creator help us all.

What? The Chinese don't want all those nork refugees flooding into their country when shit goes sideways? That sounds raciss to me. Someone needs to tell them that open borders are en vogue now and to get with the program. Or is that just expected of us and not any other nations? It's so hard to keep SJW logic straight these days.
