South Korean Paper Reports China Has Deployed 150,000 Troops To North Korea Border

Tyler Durden's picture

While the catalyst is unclear, it appears the market dropped as headlines of further sanctions against Russia appeared and reports of China deploying 150,000 troops to its North Korea border.

According to Korean news agency Chosun, the "Chinese army has deployed about 150,000 troops to the North Korean border in two groups to prepare for unforeseen circumstances." The reason: the prospect of "military options", such as preemptive attacks on North Korea, like the one the United States launched on Syria.

More Google translated:

As the United States announced its independent North Korean behavior and moved the United States Navy's nuclear-powered Calvinus (CVN-70) carrier class to Singapore, the Chinese army has deployed about 150,000 troops in two groups to prepare for unforeseen circumstances.

"The report said. It is because of the prospect of taking "military options", such as preemptive attacks on North Korea, just as the United States has launched an air raid on Syria.

Japan's Sankei Shimbun reported on the 9th that the Syrian missile strike in the United States shocked China, suggesting that the People's Liberation Army forces are moving toward the Yalu River, .

The newspaper said the video was also broadcast on the Internet, but the authorities removed the relevant information, saying the move was a medical and aft support unit for the Shenyang bulb (the northern light bulb)

Another possible catalyst is a report by Russia's interfax that Moscow is preparing for more sanctions, and has warned local air companies about a possible suspension of charter flights with Tu

  • POSSIBLE INTRODUCTION OF SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIAN MILITARY OVER SYRIA NOT TO AFFECT RUSSIA'S ACTIONS IN SYRIA, OPERATION TO FIGHT TERRORISTS TO CONTINUE - OZEROV
  • RUSSIAN AIR COMPANIES RECEIVE WARNING ABOUT POSSIBLE SUSPENSION OF CHARTER FLIGHTS WITH TURKEY - SOURCE

Whatever the catalyst, the reaction is clear:

Dropping stocks below the levels right before Syrian airstrikes began...

The Dow is back at crucial support at the 50--day moving average...

Both civilzartions are ancient.   The Chinese are patient - and sneaky.   The Tribe however, has the upper hand on getting in between the flow of $$$¥¥¥money...

Pretty simple to me - Trump and Xi agreed that China will reign the fat man in. It's the only thing that makes sense - the US isn't boots on the ground in N Korea, so this isn't a Chinese counter-move. Seems the Chinese are telling Kim pretty clearly to lay off the fireworks shows

Kaeako's picture

Or, you know, the United States just sent a carrier battle group to Korea and the Chinese decided to(if this piece of news is even true, doubtful) send a message of their own. You don't threaten the stability of the buffer.

NDXTrader's picture

As we've seen for 60+ years, the US has no leverage over N Korea. Any move by the US results in the destruction of Seoul - and no US President is going to be responsible for a million or so deaths from artillery fire. Only the Chinese have leverage over the North, hopefully they start exerting it

tuetenueggel's picture

Why should China ?

To help big mouth USA ?

stop dreaming.

NDXTrader's picture

Because their economy depends on it. Even the ChiComs are capitalists now. Take your stupid to responding to someone else's posts

Kaeako's picture

Obviously China has all the leverage, assuming the NKoreans don't do anything really stupid. It's about sending a message.

NDXTrader's picture

I think we agree, just not to whom the message is being sent. Why would 150,000 Chinese troops be a message to the US? We aren't looking to invade N Korea

SwiffFiffteh's picture

Yeah, what message can 150,000 foot soldiers send to a navy battle group? "Here be cannon fodder"?

Adahy's picture

Translated, so I apologize for the 'broken English':

'The core units that respond immediately to the drastic changes in North Korea are the 39th group and the 40th group, each of which has its headquarters in Yingkou and Jinzhou in Liaoning Province. The 39th group is a heavy army mechanized unit and the 40th group is the rapid reaction group.

The Chinese forces also strengthened the air border with a new airborne early warning instrument, the Kungming (500), dispatched to the North Korean border.

China has launched the Dongfeng-31A missile at Rocket County's 51st station in Liaoning Shenyang, twenty-eight miles of Dongfeng 03 ballistic missile, and 24 aircraft carrier killer Dongfeng-21 missiles in North Korea'

you don´t understand nothing.

NDXTrader's picture

Sure. All Trump had to do was tell Xi that we will drop the potential tariff on Chinese goods 10% if they play ball and it's a done deal. China is far more worried about their economy and internal stability than they give a shit about the Korean peninsula

Since that is a double negative you mean he must understand something . . .

Been saying it for over 3 years now:

  • bye bye petro dollar
  • bye bye mid eastern control
  • bye bye asian continent control
  • Hello to new world command, say hello to  "BRICS" ( the BRICS nations" Brazil,  russia. india. china. south africa )

There is absolutely nothing the U.S. can do to reverse the shrinking world control it gave away and continues to give away since letting the first BUSHtard in office.  The U.S. polotics and Elitiest greed grew so rapidly that even the religeon and education got steam rolled. Butm as i have said many times. the "BRICS" nations may not have to enter into an military war on the U.S.. All they will have to do is beat te U.S. at its own gane which is what has apperantly happened a;ready.

Nothing will happen; Chinese will not get involved in Nork politics, they know the Norks are crazy and don't want rockets shot in their direction. At best, the Norks will quiet down for a while; worst case - Norks keep shooting missiles into the sea while USN wastes fuel driving in circles.

NorKo is China's problem and making it our problem makes it an even bigger problem for China. NorKo is also allied with Russia with introduces yet another reason why China has to stifle NorKo ASAP. I expect China is going to take down Un and I am sure there are lots of NorKo military who can't wait. All of those ever-present laughing faces with the little notebooks surrounding Un in those publicity pictures are faces of military officers afraid they will be the next ones facing death by anti-aircraft machine guns in a public arena should they not be laughing hard enough.

      ignorant post

Russia is aligned with NK only in your mind

Blankone's picture

If China has troops to prevent the NK's from running into China maybe the troops makes sense.
But if NK is attacked it will be by bombers and missiles until it is softened up, a lot. And ground troops from China are of no help in that regards. There is no mention of S400 type antiair units being placed by China. And again the troops are in China which just leads (right or wrong) the typical US person not to care as the perception is all the destruction would be NK, SK and China.

China has to be much more bold and had better be expecting to be tested much in the same ways Russia is being pushed around.

I wouldn't be so sure that China wants to help the US. The Chinese are globalists. This move is to protect their borders once a miltary escalation happens between US and NK. I don't trust the Chinese.

NDXTrader's picture

There is no possible military escalation between the US and N Korea. The US is checkmated on the Korean peninsula because S Korea can't defend themselves. No US President is risking a million or so lives in Seoul to fire a few missiles N Korea's way. The only options in N Korea are complete nuclear destruction or nothing - or getting the Chinese to exert pressure, which it seems we have done
