China Threatens To Bomb North Korea's Nuclear Facilities If It Crosses Beijing's "Bottom Line"

Tyler Durden's picture

With everyone putting down new and/or revised "red lines", be it on Syria or North Korea, it was now China's turn to reveal its "red" or rather "bottom line", and in a harshly worded editorial titled "The United States Must Not Choose a Wrong Direction to Break the DPRK Nuclear Deadlock on Wednesday" Beijing warned it would attack North Korea's facilities producing nuclear bombs, effectively engaging in an act of war, if North Korea crosses China's "bottom line."

The editorial in the military-focused Global Times tabloid, owned and operated by the Communist Party's People's Daily newspaper, said that North Korea’s nuclear activities must not jeopardize northeastern China, and that if the North impacts China with its illicit nuclear tests through either "nuclear leakage or pollution", then China will respond with force.

“China has a bottom line that it will protect at all costs, that is, the security and stability of northeast China... If the bottom line is touched, China will employ all means available including the military means to strike back. By that time, it is not an issue of discussion whether China acquiesces in the US’ blows, but the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will launch attacks to DPRK nuclear facilities on its own."

This, as the editorial puts it, is the "bottom line" for China; should it be crossed China will employ all means available including the military means to strike back," warned the editorial.

It is worth noting is that shortly after publication, the article seems to have been retracted without explanation, the URL now returning a "404" error. However not before the original article was cached on a webpage owned by China Military, courtesy of google.

In the editorial, the author also declared that the "People's Liberation Army (PLA) will launch attacks to DPRK nuclear facilities on its own. A strike to nuclear facilities of the DPRK is the best military means in the opinion of the outside world." The northeastern Chinese provinces of Liaoning and Jilin share borders with North Korea. These two provinces and Heilongjiang are part of the Shenyang Military Region, one of seven military regions of the People's Liberation Army.

The editorial also explained the advantages to the world of a Chinese attack on North Korea's nuclear facilities.

It noted China and the world know the locations of North Korea's nuclear facilities. Once the PLA attacks these nuclear sites, North Korea will permanently suspend its nuclear weapons programs.
North Korea "has limited resources of nuclear materials and is strictly blockaded in the outside world, erasing the possibility for DPRK to get the materials again."

China also noted that "nuclear weapons is DPRK's trump card for its defiance of China and the United States. Once this card is lost, it will become obedient immediately."

The author then speculated rhetorically that if North Korea's "nuclear facilities are destroyed, they will not even fight back, but probably block the news to fool its domestic people. The DPRK will freak out if its nuclear facilities are destroyed." And yes, a Chinese author said "freak out."

The report also said that "the DPRK must not fall into the turmoil to send a large number of refugees, it is not allowed to have a government that is hostile against China on the other side of the Yalu River, and the US military must not push forward its forces to the Yalu River.” It notes that "this sentence is meant for the United States, because the premise of it is that the US military has launched attacks to the DPRK."

But what may be the most notable part of the oped is the mention in the Global Times editorial that North Korea will not be "not allowed to have a government that is hostile against China on the other side of the Yalu River."  This implies that if and when the US initiate strikes on NK, the Chinese PLA will likely send out troops "to lay the foundation" for a favorable post-war situation.

In other words, China may be just waiting for Trump to "decapitate" the North Korean regime, to pounce and immediately fill the power vacuum.

Well, Tom Thomson came paddling past
I'm pretty sure it was him
And he spoke so softly in accordance
To the growing of the dim
He said, "Bring on a brand new renaissance
'Cause I think I'm ready
Well, I've been shaking all night long
But my hands are steady"

And three pistols came (yeah, sweep them all away)
And three people went on their way
Three pistols strong
And three people spent

This article appears to be a hoax indeed. None of the 2 following web sites have anything on it.

Interestingly the official XinHua web site has an interesting article about a brand new train link between the important Chinese industrial region of Guangdon and Moscow! Well worth the read as it shows that cooperation with Moscow is right on track! Apparently not even bully Don Trump can derail that.

GUANGZHOU, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A new freight train service started operation on Tuesday, linking Dongguan, a manufacturing hub in south China's Guangdong Province, and Vorsino, Russia.

The trip of about 11,000 kilometers takes 15 days, about one third of the time by sea, while the cost is half of that by air, said Huang Pu, chief of Dongguan customs.

A launch ceremony was held at a Sino-Russia trade logistic base, which will eventually cover 241 hectares.

Trade between Guangdong and Russia is booming, with import and export volume last year standing at 37.26 billion yuan (about 5.4 billion U.S. dollars), up 2.1 percent from the previous year. Import and export volume in January and February this year was 6.37 billion yuan, up 27.2 percent.

By last year, Dongguan customs had processed 124,000 tonnes of exported cargo, of which 6,455 tonnes was sent to Russia. The cargo includes tablet PCs, mobile phones, air conditioners, lamps, automobile parts, shoes and toys.

think about it, bill clinton GAVE the nuke plant to the nk, the present leader was schooled in switzerland, the elites have KEPT nk running for 3 generations of some family for purposes, that are not all complete. The chances of nk invading china are great, and dont fergit, there are different factions of chinese, the han family have killed off when needed, other  groups, to what extent they could. china is very much TRIBAL. When moa starved 40 million during 1959, guess which group died? not the han. nk in china would serve a purpose like the sparta it is, like the sparta it has been KEPT AS on purpose. It has not been allowed to exist just to have trump spank it into submission. As if it has been just waiting for some leader to just do it.

That is an aspect of the Korean War I only recently learned about!  While the 'UN' Army was busy trying to push through Northern Korea, it was also approaching Manchuria, which was China's industrial center at the time.

And MORE IMPORTANTLY, the mainland Chinese were prevented (by way of the Korean War) from reclaiming Taiwan!  Taiwan!  The Korean War was about Manchuria and Taiwan!  And in the process, it helped to industrialize Japan (making major profits for US business interests hiding behind zaibatsu there).

MEFOBILLS's picture

Also, take a look at a map.  A line can be drawn along the islands of South China sea to Taiwan, and then to Japan.  The outer layer is Phillipines, which is also under U.S. influence.  Control the islands and sea lanes, then China's East Coast is sealed.

From an Atlanticist merchant shipping point of view, the U.S. wants to control rimlands - those regions where the ocean touches shorelines.  If the rims are controlled, then the interior is controlled.

South Korea is more rim than is North Korea.

China is still about 50 percent atlantacist (maritime movement of goods) and about 50 percent Eurasian overland (rail and air movement of goods).

Chinese are a swing vote for the future.  Russia is a Eurasian land power.

+1 for Trump?

Obama couldn't get China to take NK serious or Russia to rethink Syria

now, Trump sabre-rattles just a little

and Tillerson in Russia to talk with Putin (expect some middle ground)

and China saying THEY, not leaving it to the US, will take out NK if they become a threat

exactly what Trump was saying all along -- work with Russia on Syria and China on NK

cowdogg's picture

What bullshit. What moron would think that China would take out North Korea's nuclear defense and leave open a path for US troops to pour across the DMZ? Within a week or so the Yalu river would be lined with US missile installations all aimed at China. It is really pathetic that some Americans have had all the common sense propagandized right out of them by media. No wonder these psychopaths running this country are able to get away with what they do.

rf80412's picture

The South Koreans don't want reunification.  They don't want to be saddled with a welfare ghetto of 22 million stunted and ignorant people who are all but unemployable in SK's high tech economy.  Even if they were determined out of a sense of brotherhood, they can still kiss the next 50 years of progress good-bye as they pour most of their GDP into developing the north.

Z_End's picture

That is more true than you know...

frank further's picture

Aren't East & West Germany a parallel?  Given time, your view may be incorrect.

earleflorida's picture

the only reason e & w germany reunited was the 'Wall [1989]coming down', when russia finally dissolved in dec/1991! note: great britain had met their 'waterloo in afghanistan, as did the soviets. soviet russia was fighting for its very existence during the latter years of the afghan war [1979-89].

america had done the russian people a great favor?

a revolution in russia in 1988-89 was nearly on the brink as was seen in 1917.

the bolsheviks were a brutal and horrific system,... that even communism wouldn't like to be labelled today--- it made the past tsarist look like macheiavellian`angels, compared to the cruelty of lenin and stalin!

russia is not the same ( creature of habit) animal today... resembling neither the old authoritarian autocratic Tsarist feudal system, or the Despotic/Dictatorial nihilistic Communist regime.

sad, that people haven't read enough of Slavic history regarding the evolution of democracy. (esp., Russian history)

the bolsheviks were afraid of capitalism--- for obvious reasons?... ie., they wanted  absolute and complete control over the peasants, proletariet and intelligentsia (from any and all nascent capitalist ideals)! a controlled socialist/comunnist regime fit the bill marrying-up the trotsky`mensheviks ( in which they knew berforehand wouldn't work because of grandiose illusions in a unified union)--- thus, having to share power meant an elected parliament ( a no-no) having a monarchial/democratic unsavory flavor of desention that didn't suit the lenin's & co. agenda secret future plans.

the tsarist were in favor of capitalism but wouldn't relinquish absolute power via their autocracy. at the tyme a lot of factions were willing to give it a chance as seen in Nickolas II-- october manifesto of 1906,... which was never forgotten by its betrayal, when the tsar went on a killing rampage. this was the very moment in russian history that the tsar's would never ever set foot in modern day russian again!

Chief Wonder Bread's picture

Maybe, but first Koreans have higher IQs than Germans, that's just a fact. Second, the historical precedent. Nevertheless, I still believe that blood is thicker than water thus imho the Koreans will seek to reunite.

Teja's picture

East and West Germany are a parallel in some points. The population number relationship is similar - SK about double the number of NK, similar with West and East Germany. Also, both Korea and Germany were unified states in some periods of their history. Actually Korea for much longer than Germany, an united Germany only existed from 1871 to 1945, if you do not count the first empire which was more a loose federation.

But the isolation of NK from the South is much stronger than the isolation of East Germany from West Germany ever was. Just joining North and South Korea would lead to a psychological trauma for lots of people, possibly civil war. Such a process would have to be carefully managed. That will take time.

Padre3210's picture

No they don't.  They do not want a US ally in North Korea territory.  The only way is to have China attack the nuclear facilities, and the US attack the army and artillery by sea.  No invasion.  Then we work with the Chinese to turn N. Korea into a normal (if still poor) country.  We would lose ANY cooperation if the Chinese thought it was about "reunification".

eatthebanksters's picture

China also understands three things: 1.  They don't want the potential of escalation.  If the US goes after Fat Boy he'll fire up his arttillery and reain thousand of shells on Seoul....that will start the escalation that may have a very bad ending; 2. They can't be seen as a puppet doing the bidding of the US so they came up with their own 'red line' or bottom line - create an unverifiable issue to which tey can respond - basically if Fat Fuck Un so much as does another nuke test, the Chi-coms willblow up his entire nuke program (which they want to do anyway); 3. The Chi-coms are happy to do this so they don't see dozens or more missiles streaking in there direction - its hard to determine if a missile heading for North Korfuckea is really going to impact there or continue on its trajectory into China - they'd have to up there defense status significantly and that is never a good thing.

Fat Boy is in a box, if he does his test the Chi-coms blow his toys and maybe him up.  If he does nothing but remains belligerent we might drop a hellfire on his head.  If he shuts up and hides we'll all be happy, especially when someone in NK figured out that Fat Fuck really has no balls and takes him out.

This has a good ending.
