Heavily-Armed Swamp Critters - Did Trump Ever Stand A Chance?

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Bill Bonner via InternationalMan.com,

By our calculation, it took just 76 days for President Trump to get on board with the Clinton-Bush-Obama agenda.

Now there can be no doubt where he’s headed. He’s gone Full Empire.

Not that it was unexpected. But the speed with which the president abandoned his supporters and went over to the Deep State is breathtaking.

Worst Mistake

Among the noise and hubbub of the election campaign, there was one message coming from the Trump team that was music to our ears.

Middle East wars?

He was against them, he said.

He claimed to have opposed the 2003 attack on Iraq. He said it was one of the “worst mistakes” the country ever made.

As for further involvement, why waste American lives and American wealth on wars you can’t win?

“America First,” he said.

This was a refreshing position. It put the Republican neocons and Establishment Republicans against him; many went over to Hillary rather than risk giving up their think tank grants and consulting fees.

A 2013 poll showed 52% of Americans thought the U.S. should “mind its own business internationally.”

But the elite gained power and money from foreign wars; they weren’t going to give them up. Non-entitlement spending in the swamp goes largely to cronies in the military-security industry.

Pudgy Pentagon

But Donald Trump promised a “new foreign policy.”

No more trying to be the world’s policeman. No more fighting other people’s battles… and making things worse. No more wasting American money and American lives on foolish, unwinnable wars.

Ending America’s pointless and unsettling romp in the desert would be a good first move.

The bill for these misadventures is now said to be $7 trillion. As to Syria, Trump was typically direct. Don’t attack the country, he warned Barack Obama in a 2013 tweet, or “MANY VERY BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN…”

But then, last week… the last great hope for the Trump administration blew up in Syria. Now the neocons are delighted. And the cronies. And the zombies, too.

Here’s the outlook: no real change to O’care. No cutbacks in entitlements. No attempt to balance the budget. No belt-tightening at the pudgy Pentagon. (Instead, it will get more money.)

And now this: The wars in the Middle East will not only go on… they will accelerate.

For now, the U.S. is not only fighting terrorists. It is also fighting the people who are fighting the terrorists.

It’s a perfect Deep State war: It is guaranteed neither to win nor to lose, but simply to go on indefinitely. This gives the insiders more and more of the nation’s wealth to piddle away in absurd wars in preposterous places.

Meanwhile, Congress adjourned. When it returns in two weeks, it will confront another crisis of its own making.

Bloomberg reports:

Government funding expires on April 28, which will give Congress five days to unveil, debate, and pass an enormous spending bill… or trigger a government shutdown.

“What a mess,” said Paul Brace, a congressional expert at Rice University in Houston, offering his own pessimistic view of the unified Republican control of the House and Senate so far under President Donald Trump. “It was so much easier when all you had to do was oppose Obama.” […]

House Republicans “have differences of opinion. And they aren’t just political differences. They are policy differences,” said Republican Senator Rob Portman of Ohio.

Old Wounds

It will be tough for Congress to come to terms with its budget. The debate will open old wounds and gouge new ones.

Already, the federal budget deficit is expected to average $1 trillion a year over the next 10 years.

Mr. Trump will want to spend more. We need to spend more on infrastructure, on the military… and to revive the economy… he’ll argue.

Many House Republicans, especially the idealists in the Freedom Caucus, will find it difficult to go along.

Some will notice, cynically, that the whole program – including the attack on Syria – is little different from what Hillary had offered.

Consumer prices are already rising, others will note. Besides, who wants to go back to his home district after having signed on to $30 trillion of U.S. debt?

Others, the activists, will want to back Trump. The Obama years have been disastrous, they will say. The typical household is little better off than it was at the bottom of the last recession.

Half of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. And there are 66 million working-age adults without jobs, they’ll report.

The feds must do something! Increase spending to stimulate the economy (and not coincidentally steer a few bucks to major campaign contributors and other important hacks).

Runaway Locomotive

The more financially alert among members of Congress will recognize that eight years of stimulus has done little to help the real economy.

These realists will see a runaway locomotive headed to a dangerous curve.

They’ll want to know how the feds will finance huge new deficits just as the Fed tightens interest rates.

But the shrewdest among them will call their brokers.

The highest stock prices since the dot-com crash are based on the belief that, somehow, Team Trump will push through a corporate tax cut, leaving businesses with more after-tax money.

“That’s not going to happen,” they will say to themselves.

They will want to get out of the stock market before other investors catch on.

I really don't want to believe it...but looks to be so...I will stand with him if he is playing the 4D chess...and I can't see it...But if he has gone full neo-con war retard...man I am off this boat.

Bill bonner is "Doug Casey’s longtime friend and colleague"?

I always liked Doug Casey, but he recently outed himself as a shill on ZH.

He decided he didn't feel like being assassinated.

If that's the case he's a weakling. More likely just a con man, liar and weakling.

White House is compromised. Globalists & Soros through Kushner have taken over.

Let's hope France can do bettter with Le Pen:

Marine Le Pen Calls Out Trump on Major NATO Flip-Flop

yah, full empire, looking to to build condos in north korea, and gulf courses in Syria.

Or, as he during the entire campaign, he plans to have a military so powerful that no one will mess with the US.  In both cases, Syria and North Korea, he is creating a new status quo.

So far the totality of his actions have been to redirect an aircraft carrier, and to blow up an airfield with a 1hr warning for people to get out of the way.

But yes, Drumpf is finished for sure now, full illuminati confirmed, WE WUZ REALZ TRUMP SUPPORTS, AND TOTALLY FOR SURE ABSOLUTELY VOTED FOR HIM, BUT I AM OUT GUYS.  Evan McMuffin for preziderp, empeach Drumpf

And if we connect the dots we see it was all an elaborate scheme, since Kosher Mafia saved Trump businesses years ago then pushed him on TV: WWE, his lame show, etc.

Simpsons creators (mostly jews) were into something when started mocking him as possible candidate YEARS back.

Is called Predictive Programming.

I feel for poor Alex Jones, he still 50% believes...schmuck

“Heavily-Armed Swamp Critters”

I prefer the term “Heavily Armed Swamp Vermin”.

Manthong's picture

Obama and Hillary got the party started in Libya, Syria and Ukraine.

Trumpbama and Hillerson seem to want to keep it going.

I am still wondering if they are hypocrites, misinformed or compromised.

I am hoping is it just misinformed because they can recover from that.

Maybe Trump has been replaced by a compliant double

CuttingEdge's picture

Trump's done more flip-flops since the election than a Florida beachwear shack in high season, and the vast majority of ZHers (myself included) were, based on his pre-election rhetoric, too optimistic to see it. The indications were there early doors - appointing the Soros/Squidlet munchkin as his Treasury Secretary, giving the Clintons a pass (because they were "good people"), endorsing Ryan's half-assed ObummerCare repeal, disposing of the anti-MIC Mike Flynn...

My reading is that Trump's rock solid election manifesto was written by Steve Bannon in good faith, because Trump himself is an empty vessel. Now Kushner and the Deep State swamp rats have the reins and Bannon is persona non grata. I fully expect him to be gone from the White House in short order, and then Trump's transition to the dark side will be complete (if it isn't already).

God help America.

Actually...God help the whole world.

Max Hunter's picture

It's not misinformation.  Once again, another article that fails to mention the obvious. Trump recognizes bullshit, he spent his life doing this. We knew that he already saw the deep state lies as bullshit, but somehow now seems convince the bullshit is true.  WAKE UP people.. He doesn't believe the bullshit, he knows now the alternative to current power structure leaves the US is a very BAD situation.  He was shown the real books and given the REAL scenario of what happens when our boot is taken off the throat of the world..  The US absolutely must make these bat-shit-crazy moves because they are desperate and need a war to cover-up the impending financial collapse that is on the calendars of those in the know or those who can sniff this shit out..

thanks bill b. for the point on article summing up the current swirl of 'terd in toilet bowl', called merica.

we all know the ending tymes will be 'rough'. my mind needs to avoid this reality to stay calm.

mad max may be an outcome. once again remain clam and enjoy the day. each day is one day closer till

the uuuuge merican demise becomes a third world chaos as our enimies seek vengence. a prediction that is easy to make. how long til is a subject of avoidance as nobody can predict til the precipise of sudden chaos. most likely the dolla regime is dethroned and merica is "repossesed" from everyone that was screwed including the homegrowens. the wrath will be unleashed in furry.

a special thanks to president trump for your due diligence to state the obvious but realize that you like life better than death and flip flopped big tyme. a smart man understands that the deep state is all evil and I commend you in that regard. otherwise, you should have just resigned on principle and started a very reveiling memoirs on reveiling the true powers behind the curtain. a much moar powerfull statement, plus you could have retained your dignity. good luck in the swamp and certainly understand you are in a very precarious place in your life. toodles...

Can you blame him? I wonder only how they presented his options to him. Bluntly, or euphamism.

jeff montanye's picture

he had plenty of warning that such was in the mix.  i think he may still be trying his original leanings but by more circuitous methods.  we shall see.  just the first 80 days was revelatory: to see the cia attack a sitting president so openly and ally themselves with the party just rejected by the presidential election makes that deep state just that much more real to everybody that's watching.

and the justification for the attack on syria was about as shaky as could be, again another object lesson.  of course i could be wrong but, as has been said, still better the clintons aren't sucking down the good champagne in the old family dining room.  that's worth something.

UncleChopChop's picture

i've often daydreamed about him (or even barry soweto at some point) getting on a live-feed address to the country, and then completely going off the rails in favor of the truth. spilling all the beans to wake up the sheeple, including addressing threats on his own person. that would definitely cement him in the history books, even if he didn't live long enough to read them.

wishful thinking i know, and possibly not worth the carnage that would erupt, but for those of us sick of all the lies, a nice daydream.

Loose Caboose's picture

I've had the same daydream and I was convinced that if anyone could pull this off, it was Trump. He was the last great hope for real change. Even if it meant putting his life on the line, as he is asking others to do, he should have gone rogue on the handlers. Revolution is the only option left now and I really think the people do not have the stomach for it. So, it's business as usual for the globalists and elite. What a tragic disappointment.

The chess thing is just the rationalization before the realization.

AnonG-Man's picture

It's the most hairbrained 'rationalization' that I've seen yet in glossing over a Presidents culpability in War Crimes.  I honestly couldn't wrap my head around Obama supporters showing little to no interest or emotion in the countless dead inflicted by ineffective Drone Warfare or the disasterous Libyan "Intervention."

If anything extremists groups in the Middle East whom obviously have Intelligence training (at very least their leaders compared to regular foot soldiers), are playing "4D" chess by consistently keeping the U.S. engaged in the Middle East. They spread out our Military, claim to be an Ally one moment to obtain financing and weapons then turn around cut off anyone's head or engage 'coalition' forces, run sophisticated propaganda like "The White Helmets" fooling many Americans and other Citizens around the world to galvanize Foreign support to destroy their "enemies," have the capability to conduct crude, but effective False Flag events, and cause the inevitable situations for Blowback when they embed themselves with civilian populations ensuring civilian casualties.  They know exactly what they are doing and causing by drawing in a bloated debt-riddled Empire, but Trump does not let alone the Circus of Fools in Washington, D.C., the Pentagon, and various "Think Tanks" driving Foreign Policy.

2. Regardless of Who wins elections, the Tribesman wins.

It's safe to say now, any Criminal Fraud CEO "President" of the Criminal Fraud UNITED STATES, CORP. INC. from here on out would have to defacto continue the Crime, swear an Oath to Treason & continue the PsyOp / False Narrative Flag of 911.

A massive cosmic event would be the icing on the cake at this point.

Something wonderful like a sustained series of Coronal Mass Ejections or a few days of non-stop X-Class flares.

Hell, I'd even take a few Tunguska type events, as I'm begining to give up hope on that whole Planet X / Nibiru thing.

This is the oompa loompa song. And we're all just midget slaves to Willie Wonka Trump.

It might have taken 78 days longer to start shit in Syria with Trump than with Hilary. But I regret taking part in the ritual magik ceremony called election. One day people will take responsibility for their actions and their future. We don't need a cosmic event. We need each other. I let you all down. I thought Trump would be something impossible. Instead he's just the same little bitch he was when his daddy cut him his first fat check.

If there is one thing Trump is not; it's a Rockefeller. He's a jealous man. He's a wannabe. A good little puppet. A wonka man. Through and through. A pretender. He's good at putting on pancake and primping his hair for the Today show. Can't wait until he takes off in his elevator to the stars.

Trump is a clown compared to Putin. And if Trump thinks he's good with China he's stupid. Trump's priorities are evident. We're just the "help" he didn't pay to plumb his shitters and slab his drywall.

Putin kicked out the oligarchs. Trump want's to be an oligarch. But he loves the attention. Just loves it. That's fruity.

I'm off the boat.  The Syrian and MOAB bombings along with putting pretty boy son-in law over Bannon did it.  For the first time I am saying Screw Trump.  He has become more of the same, same, same.

Roger Rabbit's picture

It's only been 3 damn months! So he shot a few missles at Syria. What happened? Nothing! Well, if anything, it was the very first time the media and Congress actually treated him like a president.

Who cares about Bannon. The guy is obviously a shady turd. He wasn't going to provide anything worthwhile.

All Obama did up to this point in his presidency was pay the banks $250 billion in taxpayer funded bonuses and went golfing. Already Trump is worlds better, despite his "compromising"..

I hear you, Takeaction2!  What gets to me more than anything else is when there is a clear and obvious lack of INTEGRITY.  Trump had to know that Assad didn't have a thing to do with the gas attack, that it was another false flag, so his speech expressing his horror and justification for the 59 Tomahawks was hyprocrisy and BS, and I find that lack of integrity an insult to our intelligence and almost unforgiveable.  My respect for the man I voted for is not what it was.

The deep state welcomes a hard-ass like Trump. More wars, death and military equipment purchases.

Voted for him, hoping he would avoid WWIII by joining Russia to get ISIS.

What a 180 degree surprise turn.

Instead of draining the swamp he's making it larger.

Thinking back, he didn't want to prosecute Hillary. Now we know why, because it's all a game to them of personally winning, and they know it.

No interest in the average conservative American.
