US Deploys Two More Aircraft Carriers Toward Korean Peninsula: Yonhap

Tyler Durden's picture

According to a report by South Korea's primary news outlet, Yonhap, the Pentagon has directed a total of three US aircraft carriers toward the Korean Peninsula, citing a South Korean government source.

Yonhap reports that in addition to the CVN-70 Carl Vinson, which is expected to arrive off the South Korean coast on April 25, the CVN-76 Ronald Reagan - currently in home port in Yokosuka, Japan - and the CVN-68 Nimitz carrier group - currently undergoing final pre-deployment assessment, Composite Training Unit Exercise off Oregon - will enter the Sea of Japan next week.  According to the senior government official. the US and South Korea are discussing joint drills, which will include the three aircraft carriers and other ships.

CVN-68 Nimitz carrier group

USS Carl Vinson, surrounded by a fleet of US warships, was sent by Washington toward the Korean Peninsula in the beginning of April.

While details are scarce, and we would urge confirmation from US-based sources, Yonhap also reports that according to the government source the operation of three aircraft carriers in the same location is unusual, and demonstrates the US commitment to North Korea.  Other sources said the Trump administration is demonstrating deterrence by acting on its behalf. "We expect it to be completely different from the previous administration."

On Sunday, Pyongyang launched an unidentified projectile, but the test reportedly failed. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) stated that the attempted launch was conducted from the area near North Korea's eastern port city of Sinpo, but likely ended in a failure.

The most recent map showing key US naval deployments around the globe is shown below.

I love the smell of 10.000 sailors making love to cheap whores in dirty harbors. Much better than those stupid, use- and endless wars.

Dat's a lot of aircraft carriers!

According to a report by South Korea's primary news outlet, Yonhap, the Pentagon has directed a total of three US aircraft carriers toward the Korean Peninsula,

I see a trend here.  If the job needs twenty tomahawk missiles, send sixty.

For every carrier group is a sub or two.

I am already very aware of the potency of Russian and Chinese weapon systems, as well as the bravery of their military personnel.

This will be a battle of individuals heroism (Russian and CHina) agains a set piece war game cooked up by stupid, idiotic generals in Washingon.

Ben A Drill's picture

Basically your saying game on. Yet gold and silver and the miners are flat to down. What's up with that?

More than that, the Russian Pacific Fleet is no minor force, it is a major force. The Russians have mobilized to Vladivostok. The Chinese have massed on the northern border. SU-34's and SU-35's can loiter over North Korea for hours and hours, while American F-18s drop out of the sky like so many sparrows.

I read yesterday that some American Admiral claims that there is no match for American carriers, but that was in the last war, not this one. THere is a match, more than a match for American carriers, they are called Sunburn Nuclear missiles and they will take out your entire battle group. in a sinlge flash.

AMericans - I hope you get every thing that is coming to you, and more.

Ben A Drill's picture

My wife is Russian, so I got that going for me.

Russian Pacific Fleet.  Are you fucking kidding?  Russian navy is tiny and weak.  It's old shit equipment and not much of it anymore.

Wake up!  The 1980's scary Russian bear is dead.

I've worked with the Russian military in the Pacific - Aviation.  Their equipment is shit, their engineers (mechanics) are alcoholics-like drunk Indians alcoholics.  They fly equipment like it was a truck.  It breaks often and it doesn't last long.   The whole system is lazy, corrupt and ineffective.  No independent thinking or creativity allowed.

Russia is a 3rd world country with nukes.

Tovarich, Putin looked desperate when he rode that horse bare chested. Funny but sad.

underthevolcano's picture

If I were the Russians/Chinese, I wouldn't wait. I would sink your fleet where it is right now. And maybe they will.

Even If they don't it will be interesting to watch the F-18's being knocked out of the sky like tinker toys.

thebigunit's picture

Dear Under:  There's a reason that the Russians and Chinese don't take advice from you: you're stupid.

If I were the Russians/Chinese, I wouldn't wait.

Probably the reason NO ONE takes advice from you.

Not needed. CINC defends the USA the way CINC decides to defend the USA.

Dictators shall be removed from this planet one by one and what the U.S. does it does for the greater good. The North Korean peoples are secluded from the rest of the world, starving and brainwashed to believe that their deranged leader is a god. Simply saying anything against the so called leadership leads to prison or being shot up with anti aircraft guns. NK is a dictatorship on steriods and there is no room for that kind of insult to a people in our world.

How would you like to live like that?

cherry picker's picture

50% of the USA population think their 'God' Trump is right in doing this.

Reminds me of George W and Saddam

Or George H and Saddam.  When they routed Iraq from Kuwait, those princes in Kuwait did their thing, executing and torturing.  That was a big dissapointment to me.  Just like the 'ally' Saudi Arabia which can do no wrong, yet they were the only ones able to fly out when the fires were burning in NYC on 911 and how many Saudi's were involved in taking the planes and driving them into the twin towers.  Number 7 is opening a lot of eyes as to what may have been behind it and it was likely not Osama who denied it.

Let's face it, any terrorist organization loves to trumpet its successes.  Osama. didn't.

Follow Trump if you wish but the end of the road may be Hades.

Kim is a big John McAnus fan.

Asked him to show how good he is at starting aircraft.   Especially turning on ignition late to give a nice wet start.

Impressive.

Message for Mr. Kim:

In addition to the aircraft carriers, I would send two B-2 stealth bombers to quietly visit North Korea at 2 AM.

Bomber number one deposits a couple of precision guided missiles on North Korea's nuclear test facility.

Bomber number two deposits a precision guided missile on the reviewing stand from which Kim recently observed his Day of the Sun military parade.

after the failed 'bay of pigs' attempt that jfk wasn't in favour of (very murky and secretive to say the least what actually incurred),... allen dulles (younger brother of John foster dulles [ike's SOS])the head of CIA was fired for trying to start a military incursion. jfk fired him on the spot and mccone his replacement was a lap dog for allen dulles.

all the presidents from truman era onwards were in favour of covert wars.

america was fed up with world wars having just finnished a very weird`ass war a few years years earlier, aptly named the 'forgotten war? , for a good reason.

thus the war strategy would be covert with less loss of life to american soldiers, and a dumbed`down public that all was good with the world.

didn't last though.

covert`ness now dragged us in to vietnam...

and on and on until we morphed and adapted our military acumen to fighting exogenous proxy wars using religion as our greatest tool!

Whopper Goldberg's picture

yes, that would be cool,.  Meanwhile Kim has contingencies also and you could say goodbye to 20,000 US Nazi Americunt soldiers on the DMZ.  may they rot in hell.

Good for you. Do you live in Seoul ? Will your life be extinguished ? Maybe someone should test munitions out on Atlanta ?

DeathMerchant's picture

LA, San Fran, Detroit, NYC or Chicago would be much better choices.  Or perhaps the entire states of Mass, Conn or NJ.

thebigunit's picture

The problem with your theory, Sandpile, is that Kim Jong Fatso is now so unpredictable that he could blow up anything at anytime for no reason.

Good for you. Do you live in Seoul ? Will your life be extinguished ? Maybe someone should test munitions out on Atlanta ?

Living in Seoul or Atanta has nothing to do with what the lunatic chooses to do.  The only thing likely to influence his thinking is the awareness of REAL PERSONAL damage to his fat ass.

Like seeing the monument to himself in front of his house turned into flying pieces of gravel.

Maxter's picture

Do you think they keep all of their nuke at the same place?

As soon as you do that, Seoul will be leveled

Knobbius's picture

The NORKS are simply not reliable negotiating partners.  We've been talking off and on to them since the early 90's, when it was thought that the collapse of the Eastern Bloc might put some pressure on Kim Jong Il to shape up.  That led to the 1994 agreement with the Clintonistas, which did very little to curb the North's weapons and missile programs.  The Bushies tried it again, sending Christopher Hill to Pyongyang so many times he must have smelled like Kimshi.  That poor bastard had the worst diplomatic job on the planet.  In the end the NORKS' agreement with the Bushies fell apart, because NK made up their minds a long time ago that they wanted such weapons.  All of the "concessions" were simply designed to extract stuff from the West, a little fuel oil, a little food aid, an industrial park near the DMZ, etc, and buy time.  But the fundamental drive to acquire deliverable nukes has never waned.

Our policy in response has been the same since that time.  We indicated a decade ago that diplomatic relations with the North were possible, but only if they surrendered their nuclear materials.  We indicated then that we would not recognize or deal diplomatically with a nuclearized North Korea.

Now the NORKS are 10 years more advanced in their appreciation of the ins and outs of missile technology, and Little Fat Bastard is in charge, and has a dozen small nukes.  That guy doesn't have the panache of his father, and is not even bothering to try to wring concessions out of us.  That worries me as much as anything.

We've got about 2-3 years before the NORKS can reliably hit US bases in the Pacific with nukes, and again they probably will have a couple of dozen small nukes in 3 years.  But with the successful test of the KN-11, they may already have a rudimentary SLBM capability, today.

Think about what you might do with an SLBM on a sub.  Suddenly the world is pretty much in range, not just parts of Japan, Korea, and China.  Food for thought...

grizfish's picture

It's taken us almost 2 decades to create this demon.  They have done well playing this guy.  Didn't they prove the other day that they could take out his missiles during launch?

Never mind........

Trump's ratings are up 20 points since the 59 cruise missiles (36 going somewhere other than the airfield) did minimal damage to old A/C and zero damage to the tarmac.

So, now we have a good reason to rally all the citizens together by flexing our muscles in front of the world.

Wow!  Does this little nerd really deserve the presence of three Carrier Task Forces?

Never pass up a chance to exercise "Gunboat Diplomacy."

TheLastTrump's picture

Trumps approval rating at 36, sure. Just 2-3 days before that "pole" splashed the news, another approval rating poll had Trump at 52% IIRC.

You people love certain headlines & hate others. Your integrity is compromised.

DosZap's picture

They intentionally DID not target the tarmac becausei it's HARDENED.

grizfish's picture

So, what did they target?

What happened to the other 36 cruise missiles?

More hidden facts.  US politics as usual.
