Paul Craig Roberts On President Trump's 'Disappearance'

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Paul Craig Roberts via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

In my long experience in Washington, vice presidents did not make major foreign policy announcements or threaten other countries with war. Not even Dick Cheney stole this role from the weak president George W. Bush.

But yesterday the world witnessed VP Pence threaten North Korea with war. “The sword stands ready,” said Pence as if he is the commander in chief.

Perhaps he is.

Where is Trump? As far as I can tell from the numerous emails I receive from him, he is at work marketing his presidency. Once Trump won the election, I began receiving endless offers to purchase Trump baseball caps, T-shirts, cuff-links, coffee mugs, and to donate $3 to be entered into a raffle to win some memorabilia. The latest offer is a chance to win one of “personally signed five incredible photographs of our historic and massive inauguration.”

For Trump, the presidency is a fund-raising device. If his VP, National Security Advisor, Secretary of Defense, UN Ambassador, CIA Director, whoever, want to start wars wherever, that’s just more memorabilia to raffle off for a $3 donation.

As a result of Trump’s failure to govern his own government, we have VP Pence telling Russia and China that there could be a nuclear exchange on their borders between the US and North Korea. Although Pence is not smart enough to know, this is not something Russia and China will accept.

Washington worries about North Korea having nuclear weapons, but the entire world worries that Washington has nuclear weapons. And so many of them. World polls have shown that the majority of the world’s population are far more concerned about the threat to peace posed by Washington and Israel than by Iran, North Korea, Russia and China.

Pence prefaced his “the sword stands ready” remark with “the United States of America will always seek peace,” which after Serbia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, and Syria is as false a statement as it is possible to make. From Washington’s perspective it is always Washington’s victims that are “reckless and provocative,” never Washington.

The US stands for war. If the world is driven to Armegeddon, it will be Washington, not North Korea, Iran, Russia, or China, that brings life on earth to an end.

Pence, Trump, HRC have as much credibility with me as that leader in NK.

I don't pay attention anymore.  I think Obama was the straw that broke the camel's back.

"If the world is driven to Armegeddon, it will be Washington, not North Korea, Iran, Russia, or China, that brings life on earth to an end."

No, Paul. If the world is driven to Armegeddon, it will be the Jews, not North Korea, Iran, Russia, or China, that bring life on earth to an end.  You know as well as I do, Paul, that "Washington" is merely a zombie controlled completely by dual-citizen Israeli-firsters.  They control the media and they control the issuance of all money.  Ergo, they control the politicians who make the insane decisions which are detrimental and toxic to the entire world.  Just once, Paul, I'd like to read a piece of yours where you honestly delve into the blackest heart of the matter.

Nope. He's marketing the Trump Brand. He couldn't care less about the country.

Look, that "Joe-the-truck-driver" would vote for Trump, I can more than understand. But what about all those supposedly intelligent and sophisticated gold-buying readers of ZeroHedge?

Was no one able to poke through the waffling, the flip-flopping and the thin veneer of "make-America-great-again-sales-talk," just like no one was able to count the days that the Carl Vinson was supposedly going to arrive near the Korean Peninsula?

So where are all the Trump fanboys now ey? You only see them voting down any criticism with red fiat kudos, and posting the usual anti-Semitic crap about "it's the Jews." Sure, that's great logic: if it's not Trump then it must be "the Jew's" fault, and conveniently forgetting that Trump is big buddies with the NY Jewish community and big buddies with Israel.

Just admit it, you folks have been taken for a "huuuge and beautiful" ride by some orange real estate agent. You believed all the "make America great again" crap, just like the rest of the sheeple believe those "be-fit-and-muscular-with-just-5-minutes-per-day" infomercials.

Kotzbomber747's picture

That's a very intelligent reply TrajanOpimus.

Truly Trump-worthy: a quick one-liner/tweet without any real content, deflecting any attention away from his own incompetence and clueless brain.

... PCR and everyone has 20/20 hindsight ... ;)

Kotzbomber747's picture

None, this has nothing to do with 20/20 hindsight. Plenty of people, while realizing that Hillary was no option either (!), warned against the unstable 'campaign promises' of Trump. Sure, Hillary might be a screwed bitch, but Trump is not the orange saviour either.

This time it will NOT be any different, and as long as people keep on electing the same Republican/Democrat idiots things will more or less remain the same.

Mr. Universe's picture

i won't say i told you so because I was hoping for the best. However there were lots of warning signs, "Kill Snowden" Jared and Ivanka, extremely thinned skinned narcissist who needs constant validation. What could go wrong?

PrayingMantis's picture

... I guess I forgot the '/s' tag ... which points simply that I, for one, and perhaps a yuuuge number of ZH enthusiasts, didn't see the Trump flip-flops he ran under when he won the R nomination ... mind you, there were other nominees that probably might've been better, but alas, we don't carry enough crystal balls (my 20/20 hindsight reference) around to properly 'see' where each candidate's heart really is ... and Trump is a difficult Rubik's cube to solve when it comes to foreign policy especially when after appointing MadDog to look after Offense (with hardly any opposition from the MIC) and having singularly appointed the Pompous one to look after covert operations which, because of a twitter spat, is now going after one of the last vestiges of true journalism ... Wikileaks and its founder ... of which, without its 'leaks', wouldn't have made a recent POTUS that ran under MAGA or America First ...

... of course we're all entitled to our opinions which we hold close to our chests, but the Klingons, sorry, the Clinton cartel is not the only choice either for the demoncRats ... just imagine President Mad Max Waters with the blind VP None See Pelosi, and we wouldn't even need 20/20 hindsight to see that America definitely be circling the drain ... ;)

... sorry to ruin your weekend ... ;)

Good, Bad, Worse Better ...

Sounds like an old Clint Eastwood movie, and for a few dollars more ..

But seriously, a controlled demolition by any other name, is still a controlled demolition . This isn't about worse or better. There is no such thing in ths game. It is kabuki, and it isn't very good or convincing kabuki at that ..

There are no poltical messiah's that are gonna come ridin in to the rescue, and savin the day. You can be certain of this 100% bonafide reliable fact. This shit show is far beyond any redemption, at least in any of the usual, accepted and pre scripted means, meme's. Clinton supporters and boosters are fucked. Trump supporters and boosters are fucked .. Everyone get's a bite of huuuge shit sammich. These kabuki, cartoon bobble heads are equal opportunity destroyers, and swim in the same polluted swamp.

Your issue is with the moneychangers, the true owners of the swamp, and frankly, they don't give a fuck about your vote, nor which puppet is selected to give appearance of "running the show." It is stagecraft friends, nothing more, nothing less.

For the swamp, by the swamp, so help me swamp ..

Free yourself, and your minds, De-Swampify !

lew1024's picture

No. However unhappy I am with Trump as a President, I am still very satisfied that I made the correct choice, of which there were only 2 possible.

Better or different choices, I would have possibly done better, but we did the best we could, given the choices we had.

So criticize the outcome, yes, we do, but not the choice. That was forced.

HopefulCynical's picture

Precisely. Hillary would have us in a shooting war with Syria/Iran/Russia by now, if for no other reason than to prove that she can be "tough."

Trump seems to be saying a lot and doing a little, which is confusing the fuck out of the Chi-Coms, the NORKs, etc. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, folks. They're not our friends, and they've grown more than a little contemptuous of us in the last 30 years.

I'm waiting to see major action before I decide that the swamp has drained Trump. Bombing an airstrip after we'd warned the Russians to scram is not major action. Dropping a MOAB on a terrorist rat hole in Afghanistan is not major action. Sending the fleet to wave "Hi!" at the NORKs after the Little Teapot (short and stout) once again threatens to nuke us is not major action.

If we actually go after Assange, that will be major action. If we drop 50K troops into Syria and Trump starts talking regime change, that's major action. If we start bombing Iranian or NORK nuclear facilities, that's major action. If you want to do something productive, add your voice to those saying loudly and publicly that we do not want those things, we could have voted for Hillary if we did, and Trump damn well better not or the fur is going to fly.

Xena fobe's picture

Yes, Trump's promises were always incredible.   I think everyone knew Trump would not be able to deliver on most promises.

But he will delay the decline and shft into globalism which will buy time.  Inequality will continue to deepen and more and more will question the status quo.

robobbob's picture

and yet the november choice still came down to hrc or dt.
dt was a lottery ticket from the start, and nothing trump does will be as bad as hillary. the market is still on a programmed crash course and the mic/neocon/zios build up to ww3 would still be on track
are you saying hillary's wall would already be under construction? that hillary's musi travel ban would be in place by now? that hillary would be personally handing out picks and shovels at all of the coal mines she reopened? that all us support would be out of syria?
at worst, dt delivers what hrc would have done anyway, and who knows, the powerball number hasnt been drawn yet, we could still end up as winners.

Not marketing, defense.

This also explains the miserable missile attack. Toss the jackals a few bones now and then. The constant ragging by the media and vicious opposition from the swamp has to be wearing. edit: Did I forget the lower courts?

Pence is Trump's straight man. Not only is it OK for him to bluster, it's actually an insult to have it come from the second in command.

It doesn't make sense to give babyface too much attention which is what the Kim dog is all about.

Poor analysis by PCR.

Trump's probably with Obama off in the South Pacific. That's Biff Tannen pretending to be Trump in the WH. Doesn't matter anyway since Kushner is the heavyweight.

As likely to happen as a snowstorm in the Khalahari desert.

PCR, you see, is a PART of that HEART of darkness which hovers over the heads of all of us. As a favored minion of the ONEMEDIA fakenews circus, he is allowed to give us a rendition of reality which purposely prunes all mention of the chief protagonists - and real danger to peace and security - from his text.

Like other puppet pundits of the talmudist owned ONEMEDIA in it's "alt" and "lamestream" formats[c'mon down Pepe!]he gives us a line like

Washington worries about North Korea having nuclear weapons, but the entire world worries that Washington has nuclear weapons.

with narry a nod to the 200+ weapons of mass destruction which the pirate state in the s e Med holds on hand as blackmail against all who dare question it's ascendance. And the Zheeple scarf it all up with endless enthusiasm.

Trump took a back seat in this farce right after Inauguration Day, and anyone paying attention realized soon after that his role in the "Trump Deception" forecast last year was over. Bamboozled hopey-changers however, will continue to look for signs of the missing Orangeman... while vigorously stroking their down buttons in vain hope of warding off the messengers of the dirty lowdown which their own stupidity & arrogance has handed them.

If someone has been, for years, inveighing against American military adventurism, is it not forgivable that those who supported him were simply bamboozled? How was anyone to know he would turn out to be a fraud? What can you point to in his rhetoric prior to the election that clued you into the fact he was lying through his teeth? Or, how did you know that he would do a 180 on foreign policy when he got into office? What were the signs you saw that so many others didn't? Pray tell.

BobEore's picture

Pray tell my man?

Pray told. But warnings unheeded are neither my responsibility nor problem///

In delivering this message my former confreres of the western world, last August, I made clear the coming deception, the deceivers, and the deceived.

All of which was ill-received... by the army of exceptionalists, sock puppets, and knowitalls who poured endless scorn upon my attempts to warn ye's of your grisly fate. And though I've continued to remind - at regular intervals since, all who might still heed those premonitions in time...

tis of little consequence now, with the playbook as laid out, now entirely played out, in front of the witless audience of those who blame everyone save themselves, squire.

If someone has been, for years, inveighing against American military adventurism, is it not forgivable that those who supported him were simply bamboozled?

No, too late for that out now.

While no one, outside of truly troubled persons, wishes ill for Merikans as people, it's increasingly difficult to not note the absence of protest to the serial crimes against humanity committed in their name. Some time ago I took the trouble to jot down the story of how the best, most accurate prediction of what was coming to merica was made by a modern-day Nostradamus, who spoke in a veiled, hard to fathom manner, but nevertheless gave all the clues needed to unravel the future!

Reading... comprehending ... and then, acting upon information vital to their future prospects, will in retrospect turn out to have not been the "option" westerners assumed it to be. "Ignorance is no longer innocence'

There is only one path  to my mind.  I know you didn't ask me, but there is an answer and a path: That is to rip the money power away from Rothschild private credit banking.

History has been warning us, practically shouting down through the ages:

See quotes by politicians and bankers at link.  Many of these people risked their lives to deliver their message.  Why are we not paying attention?

House Bill HR2990 is a flick of a pen.   In one fell swoop, overnight, and with little fanfare - private money power would be converted to become sovereign and legal.  The issue of course is that Senators are corrupted with money power hence no signatures.  They were corrupted especially with 17'th.

Repealing  17'th is  a path of low resistance, and required.

State Governors and legislatures can just ignore it, especially since it was not fully ratified. In other words it is already illegal. A president that was aware, could go to each state governor, and ask them to renounce 17'th, then recall their senators. New senators would then be instructed to pass HR2990.

World war three would be avoided.  The U.S. would eject its parasites.

Unfortunately, even  ZH crowd has trouble drawing conclusions about who the real parasitical enemy is.  There are always  people here who claim that government money is "evil" when in reality, it is the solution.  It is private banking credit that is the source and power of Masonic/Cabala/Sabbatean/Talmudism/Luciferian/Illuminism .... basically Satanism.

So, deny the weed credit and usury, and it will wither.  Defund.

This is another link that condenses monetary history and puts current events into context:

To those of you who think that communism, banking, and finance capitalism are antagonistic, then think again.  They are dialectics of  money power, to keep you duped and fighting phantoms.

Xena fobe's picture

I looked it up and got HR2990, Accelerating Individuals Into rhe Workforce Act.  Is this what you are referring to?
