Trump Slams Democrats For Defending Comey: "They'll Be Thanking Me!"

Tyler Durden's picture

It was a return to the old, familiar routine on Wednesday morning, when President Trump went after Democrats on Twitter for their reaction to his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.

"The Democrats have said some of the worst things about James Comey, including the fact that he should be fired, but now they play so sad!" the president tweeted Wednesday.

Trump unexpectedly fired Comey - the man who had been leading the controversial investigation into potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia - on Tuesday evening, a decision some media reports suggested he had expected would be met with a favorable reception from Democrats, and especially the Clinton team, especially after Hillary accused Comey of being the catalyst behind her losing the election.  The dismissal came in a signed letter from Trump to Comey that said it was time for a "new beginning" at the nation's "crown jewel of law enforcement." Comey was in LA at the time, and learned about his termination while watching TV.

Needless to say, the move "shocked" Washington and sparked outrage from Democrats, who said the president was trying to shut down the FBI's investigation. Democratic lawmakers fired off statements condemning the president's actions and impugning his motives, with some alluding to the Watergate era.

The most vocal response came from Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer late Tuesday raised questions about the reasoning behind Comey's firing. “Were these investigations getting too close to home for the president?” Schumer asked during a news conference. “Are people going to suspect cover-up? Absolutely.”

Trump responded to that on Tuesday night, tweeting "Cryin' Chuck Schumer stated recently, "I do not have confidence in him (James Comey) any longer." Then acts so indignant.  #draintheswamp"

In two follow up tweets, Trump also said that "James Comey will be replaced by someone who will do a far better job, bringing back the spirit and prestige of the FBI" and added that "Comey lost the confidence of almost everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike. When things calm down, they will be thanking me!"

Trump mocks the political charade while being a central part of the charade. Thank you Mr. President.

May we live in interesting times.

FrozenGoodz's picture

Why'd it take him four months to fire him for something he did back in July?

Firing Comey was a good thing, but…

If you fall into the septic tank, changing your flip-flops will not get rid of the smell. I think? (actually, I know!)  ;-)

Brilliant Move... You Lose Confidence In the Guy, and then every once in a while he does something Great To Reel you back into the fold...

Yep, it looks to me that he is going after the paedos in Washington, so they are in a spin trying to get rid of Trump before he gets them.

not if he nominates Ivanka for Comey

And why would that be a problem?
(Other than her political leanings and stuff like that.)
Anyway, better Tiffany once she is finished with Georgetown ...

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true.

But even then I knew I'd find a much better way, either with or without you.

Don't... don't you want me?

You know I can't believe it when you say that you don't need me.

Tomato juice, oh wait, that's for skunks.

Standard Disclaimer: Firing Comey ("unexpectedly" - lol!) was priceless... This is what I paid to see. Trump going into the Presidency and telling people (notably Democratic appointees)... "You're fired."

Given the amount of bureaucratic red tape that is so prevalent in Washington, D.C. (like that aforementioned skunk smell), it may have taken Trump and his merry band of mnuchions that long just to do the proper paperwork.

PT's picture

He had to wade his way through a shitstorm first.  Now the shitstorm will probably blow even harder and slow him down even more.  Can only hope that I'm wrong.

FrozenGoodz's picture

... the Deputy AG that made the suggestion waded through it in two weeks? Doesn't hold water.

The whole letter was just weird ... thanks for telling me I'm not being investigated 3x ... when I'm actually being investigated ... the new guy will never be confirmed ... another political shitshow he could've avoided

Cognitive Dissonance's picture

"The whole letter was just weird........ wreaks of corruption....."

Not so sure about the corruption, but definitely amateur hour.

In this case it would have been so easy to do this professionally, privately and in person. This is like being fired by text from McDonald's......not that I would know anything about that. :-)

PT's picture

Would have been very easy to do professionally, privately and in person.  Trump has had 50 years experience firing people.  He would not have lasted long if he didn't know what he was doing.  Trump did it this way for a reason.

Cognitive Dissonance's picture

That could be.

But Trump is a bully by nature and bullies, by nature, intimidate. That is his style.

The thing is, he does not control his political environment in the same way he controls his business environment. Thus his bullying tactics are not always the best way to handle every (firing) situation.

If Trump is to get anything done, he needs to build some basic cooperation and consensus. Being a bully is not the way forward from here.

Han Cholo's picture

Fuck that. Kick the swamp creatures squarely in the nutz..Grab them by the pussy and slam them to the ground. Those assholes have no respect for "we the people" so we elected a bully to fuck them up.

Keep it up Mr. President, backhand DC at every opportunity!

jcaz's picture

Pish-posh, quit whining.  The guy has had a few things on his plate, and besides, it took awhile to figure out what Comey did and didn't know, and whether or not he could ultimately be an asset;

It takes longer to fire Shaniqua from McDonalds.

If they knew "Russia did it" in July, then why didn't they stop it? The story insults our intelligence.

Cognitive Dissonance's picture

Just cus you 'know' the rabbit is eating your garden lettuce doesn't make it any easier stopping him or her from doing so. ;-)

In fact, sometimes you place some decoy lettuce near the edge to keep the rabbit busy and away from the main feast.

Thank God!  Comey is a dirty liar.

Philo Beddoe's picture

Yeah, the pot seems pretty sure the kettle is really black.

Anteater's picture

Maybe they'll throw Comey a bone and make him Special Inquisitor for the Pentagon audit?

Shouldn't be too hard to unearth where the MIC buried the missing $8,000,000,000,000.

It's not like you needed  it, that's why you cough up every April 15th, like a good boy.

Grandad Grumps's picture

And McCabe is corrupt. Maybe Trump can fire him before a replacement for Comey is found.

j0nx's picture

Yeah firing comey for McCabe is like firing boner for Ryan. Out of the pot and into the flame. He needed to shit can them both at the same time. McCabe is a partisan hack job.

LOL.  Which way is up?  (It's a rhetorical question.)

Thats after the great war and collapse, during the truth and reconcilliation hearings. All five planetary survivors will agree, the Clintons were in fact dirty, and thus sentence them to purgatory, for all eternity .. in absentia.

Better luck next time ..

Maybe Obama, Comey and Hillary can do speaking engagements together.

Comey thought he was going to the next J. Edgar Hoover - the man who really ran America.

Fuck Comey. Although he will probably get a private sector consulting job with a salary starting at $1.5 million, I like to think he will never work again and be on food stamps.

"so sad!"

Love it. That's the man I voted for.

onewayticket2's picture

I dont think he was as power hungry as you say.   He's more of a boy scout than most know.   Know others who know him personally and they all say he's more likely motivated to do the right thing for the People than to garner power for himself.

jcaz's picture

Knew  him from his time at GS;

Boy Scout?  Not so much...

Power-hungry suck-ass status climber?  Pretty much covers it.

The FBI was just a resume-builder- the embarrassment of being canned so soon into his tenure is the ultimate slap-in-the-face for Comey.

Oldwood's picture

Canned while out giving speeches. THAT what these cocksuckers are paid to do? Every fucking office is a platform for ever greater self promotion. If government employment were limited to those actually WORKING for the people, there would be no such thing as "big government", and probably?a lot less corruption given they would have so little time to "socialize".

RiverRoad's picture

"Canned while out (flying around at our expense) giving speeches."  No more air tickets for you, Comey baby.

It's on to the Carlyle Group for you.

cheech_wizard's picture

Complete bullshit.

Standard Discliamer: This is what is known as being paid to look the other way.

cheech_wizard's picture

Here's some more to refute your bullshit that Comey was an altruistic boy scout bent on doing "good"...

Where was the FBI investigation of the ATF forcing gunshops to allow strawman purchases for drug dealers?

Where was the FBI investigation of the IRS targeting?

Where was the FBI investigation of the Clinton meeting with Lynch?

Where is the FBI investigation into the leaks and deep state sabotage?

Where was the FBI investigation of Harry Reid's corrupt land deals in NV?

Where was the FBI investigation of Solyndra, and the money laundering that went on there?

Where was the FBI investigation of ... [fill in your favorite Obama era scandal that got zero MSM press, but was some of the biggest abuses of government power in history.]

It's been months now. Still waiting for actual evidence of a Trump - Russia connection. Still waiting for any evidence that Russia "influenced" the election.

Still waiting for a grand jury for Hillary Clinton's email server
