Comey Admits Under Oath That Obstructions To Investigations "Never Happened"

Tyler Durden's picture

As we detailed earlier, next week's James Comey hearing is certainly setting up as a 'grab yr popcorn' moment with Democrats lining up for their 5 minutes of fame to ask the question that 'proves' Trump deserves impeachment. However, it appears there is no need for the hearing as Mr. Comey already confirmed - under oath - that "he has not been pressured to close an investigation for political purposes."

Testifying under oath in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 3rd, Comey states that he has not been pressured to close an investigation for political purposes, "not in my experience."

COMEY: Not in my experience. Because it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something like that -- without an appropriate purpose.

I mean where oftentimes they give us opinions that we don't see a case there and so you ought to stop investing resources in it. But I'm talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason, that would be a very big deal.

It's not happened in my experience.

Caught on tape?

Some have pointed out that Comey is responding specifically to a question whether someone at the Department of Justice or the Attorney General had ever asked him to halt an investigation.

That is true, however, his response is not specific. His response is general...

" it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something like that -- without an appropriate purpose... I'm talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason, that would be a very big deal... It's not happened in my experience."

It seems like ANY "pressure" to stop an investigation is a "big deal" and that's "not happened."

Since when have the facts meant anything?  The media smoke machine is belching out huge clouds of obfuscation and that's not going to stop just because of some meaningless facts.

the appointment of robert mueller, fbi head when the fbi was finding or being given hijacker passports at the wtc and headscarves in pennsylvania, from incinerated planes, you understand, to head the special probe into russian interference with the last election could become a problem for the deep state.  while there is no link, as yet, between say the theft of the dnc emails and 9-11, there will be an unstated but everpresent sense of deja vu just waiting to be evoked.

and the facts of the case itself are potentially damning as well.  here's the conundrum: seth rich, a dnc data analyst, is murdered twelve days before wikileaks publishes the dnc emails.  said to be a robbery where nothing was stolen by the crack d.c. police,  the fbi, in charge of the case of the purloined emails, does not request access to seth rich's computer nor examine the murder for a possible connection to the email theft.  and this is with the internet blowing up about such a connection and julian assange offering a reward.

why?

more than any evidence or lack of evidence, this lack of interest on the fbi's part smacks of corruption, collusion, the fix.  imo it does not pass the smell or laugh test.  of course perhaps like the nist investigation of why building seven fell down, which expressly ruled out the possibility of explosions before it started the investigation, perhaps the fbi ruled out an insider leak before it started its investigation, looking only for exactly how those russian "adversaries" managed to hack the dnc server which, i'm thinking, actually had, like, passwords and stuff.

what with all the excitement about the campaign and the election, these questions never really got a thorough going over.  it's a good thing the democrats have made such a big deal about the russians stealing the election from hillary or president trump and rod rosenstein might not have had to appoint bob "9-11" mueller the special counsel.

another thing we might should make sure gets a good check out is the "he said she said" over the fbi's getting a chance to look at the dnc servers that were supposedly hacked.  the dnc (she) says they were never asked by the fbi, while the fbi says they asked but were "rebuffed".  now i want to learn how to do that.  how do you "rebuff" the fbi, presumably with search warrants (and if not why not?).  you could make some real money on the internet giving lessons on that technique.

The political left and left media (left aka kike) got another kick in the teeth

One would think that after all the Berkeley ass kicking they should be accustomed by now.

Because they deserve it

Why the Political Left Feels Emboldened to Shut Down Free Speech

jeff montanye's picture

i'm going to have to disagree with you on the aka kike part.  first it isn't jews per se, it's zionists and they come jewish and goy, though by far the strength of the core is the jewish likud/mossad of israel.

but please do not think, for one instant, that whatever right wing media one might peruse is free from similar influences.  the libertarian party's vp nominee this election was given to william weld a notorious zionist.

though the crusader, the kkk newspaper, seems to have been one of the 25 or so that endorsed trump, vs. clinton's 500 or so, that could change.

john mccain, notorious zionist, got low two hundreds of newspaper and magazine endorsements when he ran against obama.  trump got about 25.

that's about the size of it.  the non-zionist right media.

the non zionist left?  about the same i would hazard.

but the gamechanger is in your name: the internet and the social media. they are far less zionist than the legacy media and that is making a world of difference.

AltRight Girl's picture

Well, there are also those right wing brainwashed bible nuts that hold jews in high regard.

Whitey needs to overcome the christian low self-esteem (same as "modern white guilt") and go back to pre-christian values / barbarianism. If not, they'll be nothing but kikes' and now muslims' bitches. (best example Scandinavia: Christianized by force until they lost all balls. Since then they bend over for everybody)

A good start is reading Nietzsche - The Antichrist. Nothing to do with demons, it's just a criticism of Christianity = the religion of the slaves and the weak (as Romans put it) Christianity = Pure Socialism.

ahhhh Nietzche,..... the wellspring of ideas from which the Nazi party sprung. And now you are here amongst thoughtful people promoting your own form of Nazi propaganda. In one short post you manage to demonstrate racism against three races, two religions, and a couple of political ideologies, and prove yourself to be a problem creator, not a problem solver. Well done, junior!

ThuleNord's picture

You've never read one single page of Nietzsche. Racism, the tried and true Jewish virtue signaling and psychological guilt control.

Again, if you had ever actually read Nietzsche you'd realize how much of a mindless puppet you really are.

Then again, intelligence is like height, you can only be so tall.

look into the arkancide connection to one of the responding officers....rich was alive when they found him

jeff montanye's picture

yes, i'd love one too.  it was a busy summer for accidental deaths as well as murder that year, note the addenda to this article that points out that seth rich did seem to be alive for a while and had been severely beaten, not usually part of robbing someone if you are going to shoot him to death anyway.

http://altereddimensions.net/2016/dnc-staffer-seth-rich-assassinated-for...

that the fbi has never looked at rich's computer in the ten months since his murder, with assange offering a reward after mocking the russian hacking story and the internet full of accusations of hillary clinton's ordering the murder of up to five people that summer beggars belief.  the story is as fishy as one bullet hitting all those people in jfk's cadillac.

For the mentally challenged here: this is what Obstruction of Justice means:

* You or your appointees are being investigated
* You ask the investigator not to investigate
* The investigator refuses
* You fire the investigator

Hope this helps, you idiots.

Why are all alt-rights stupid? Perhaps they should be called dolt-rights?

Your under criminal investigation by the Fed, and your husband corners the AG in her plane and reminds her of all the dirt he has on her.............While said husband collects millions from the Russians for his priceless "speeches", days after the wifey signs off on the uranium to Russia deal....... While the daughter shakes down the greased palms of favored oligarchs for foundation cash.....all the while, hiding all her top secret correspondence in a home server, to avert FOIA requests.....

Dolts abound, especially in progressive lala land, where the Clintons are untouchables, and Hillary lost, because the Russians rigged the election.

Hurrah for Her Russia "reset"!

Certain times past seem utopian, idealistic, appurtenant. We, however, shape our own future. It is in our collective efforts to shape the world in which we inhabit that realization and fruits of such labour materialize.

It is up to us to do our part, speak-up, enlighten others, exchange ideas -- it was precisely this construct, the symposium, which pit bright peoples together and shaped and propelled countless civilizations into immortality, having discussed politics, art, music, law, business, history, literature, mathematics, science, medicine, astrology, etc.

Afterall, we need not be confined in a physical space in order to achieve such interactions. No, my friends, the virtual-space has made this possible, and to a larger degree, inter-continental, in fact. Ideas now travel about the globe embedded in electro-magnetic waves. We are at a finger's touch, or a series of voice commands from one another.

We, collectively, can bring about change, one that benefits humankind, one less concerned with wealth, but altruism instead. Look no further than the Apollo Space program, one which JFK envisioned. There is nothing that can detract a group of bright, ambitious, dedicated, diligent individuals from achieving a collective vision other than inaction, self-interest, capitulation.

Turn your frustrations into initiatives, goals, and achievements, in the end! There are no short-cuts to hard work. You will be surprised by what can be accomplished.

Will we wait for others?

The future awaits...

In the immortal words of JFK, back when it meant something:
"My fellow Americans ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

I ask all of you, including the ones hiding in the background, long-time contributers, fellow kindred listeners, step-up for your country because now your country needs you more than ever!

@J S Bach, while I share you namesake, I refuse to surrender! It is through human ingenuity that we survive (or perish from lack thereof). Look at your handle for one such genius example!

I prefer a thousand deaths by a thousand spears by a thousand enemies than a single utterance of "spare me"!

What say you? Will you be counted? Silence speaks volumes, but any discontent should be judged as pretentious, in the aftermath. (I am merely advocating for ideas, propositions, collective-thought)

What are your thoughts?

JSBach1's picture

Thank you for coming forth. People are cynical about the government because it does not serve their needs, quite the opposite in fact, it servers it's own self-interest.

If enough people want to change the status quo in the government, then it is possible to start draining the entrenched swamp from the ground up. It is a logical fallacy to believe that someone, anyone will come along and do this on our behalf. It is clear that the two party system is a house-of-cards. Whether we look into the viability of another party to start removing these swamp creatures one-by-one (I know it has been tried numerous times before, and it will be meet with resistance from the DC mob) or working within the current structure or something entirely different altogether can be put forth, but doing nothing is clearly fruitless.

You see, it all hinges on the climate of the people and the level of dissatisfaction. People like to vent, and rightfully so, put ideas have to be put forth that can actually make a difference. Until there is a climate of dissatisfaction large enough, and those people are interested in change, than this is all for naught, I am afraid.

I will not be attending, to answer your question. Discourse in the public domain, in order to raise awareness, is where we are at now, it seems to me unfortunately.
