Harvard Study Reveals Huge Extent Of Anti-Trump Media Bias

Tyler Durden's picture

Via HeatSt.com,

A major new study out of Harvard University has revealed the true extent of the mainstream media’s bias against Donald Trump.

Academics at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy analyzed coverage from Trump’s first 100 days in office across 10 major TV and print outlets.

They found that the tone of some outlets was negative in as many as 98% of reports, significantly more hostile than the first 100 days of the three previous administrations:

The academics based their study on seven US outlets and three European ones.

In America they analyzed CNN, NBC, CBS, Fox News, the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal.

They also took into account the BBC, the UK’s Financial Times and the German public broadcaster ARD.

Every outlet was negative more often than positive.

Only Fox News, which features some of Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters and is often given special access to the President, even came close to positivity.

Fox was ranked 52% negative and 48% positive. - "Fair and Balanced" indeed.

The study also divided news items across topics. On immigration, healthcare, and Russia, more than 85% of reports were negative.

On the economy, the proportion was more balanced – 54% negative to 46% positive:

The study highlighted one exception: Trump got overwhelmingly positive coverage for launching a cruise missile attack on Syria.

Around 80% of all reports were positive about that.

The picture was very different for other recent administrations. The study found that President Obama’s first 100 days got a good write-up overall – with 59% of reports positive.

Bill Clinton and George W Bush got overall negative coverage, it found, but to a much lesser extent than Trump. Clinton’s first 100 days got 40% positivity, while Bush’s got 43%:

Trump has repeatedly claimed that his treatment by the media is unprecedented in its hostility.

This study suggests that, at least when it comes to recent history, he’s right.

Somebody had to do a study to figure this one?

In a paternal hierarchy, nothing is real until someone in authority says it is real.

The opposite works as well. If the authority denies reality (i.e. lies) who is there to confirm the truth as we know it by denouncing the lie. Thus the lie carries on.

The only way to overcome this is whit derision and mockery......William Banzai7 style.

Seems like Fox is indeed "Fair and Balanced".

Maybe that's why Ailes was taken out?

"... the tone of some outlets was negative in as many as 98% of reports."

What a coincidence... 98% of (((those who own the media))) voted for the witch.

Harvard came to this conclusion and released the document under their banner?

Hold still, we need to get a sample.

This study can't possibly be accurate. It is biased by the accurate use of statistics and therefore flawed.

Really, so wall street jews ONLY gave money to Clinton, I think you need to check your facts, Sheldon Adleson and his Zionist banker cohorts game millions to trump as well.

Those who own the dems also own the republicans, that is pretty obvious by now...

It is our harsh Germanic tone that gives the appearance of negativity.

Oh, and the decided Middle Eastern cadence.

(((They))) will allow some internal squabbling, but when it comes to war, the media is in lockstep.

They will fight the pipeline route *until the last Syrian*.

Steve Jobs was half-Syrian. His biological father was no slouch in the IQ department either.

Tomahawks into Cupertino, it's the only way to be sure!

I met a retired Syrian pilot hotel proprietor in Europe once, he spoke French, English, Russian and native Arabic.

Never aware of him Snackbaring, or being tempted to blow anything sky-high. He was pretty good at organising breakfast classic French-style though :D

Gotta give it to FOX... They actually try to live up to their "fair and balanced" slogan. I wonder if someone in the newsroom keeps a tally so they can get such an evenly split outcome. The rest of these organizations are total garbage, so no surprise there. They crave the President's blood, and will stop at nothing to draw it, even going so far as to destroy their credibility. Good, let them die.

Lurk Skywatcher's picture

Funny how the left sees their media as fair and balanced, while fox is rabid ultra right wing.

Yet another example of how out of touch with reality they truely are.

How about if Trump does something Positive?

He should actually do something other than mostly sign executive orders, which are sound and fury signifying nothing.

He has done only one thing he promised, accecepteg Heritage's recommendation to nominate Gorcush ... aprroved by Republicans by changing rules!

Trump has shown the light on the cockroaches.

Trump has shown how deep the infestation has become.

Trump has shown he can't do it alone.

What are you going to do?

delmar Jackson's picture

the reporting on Trump and his immigration policy was almost twilight Zone. if you had read his immigration policy on his website and ignored his inflammatory rhetoric in his speeches, you would have seen an amazing moderate or even progressive stance on immigration policy. He was quite clear. He did state all illegals had to go home, but in the same sentence, he said those who were not criminals would have their return expedited so as to come here legally. This is ruleof law and amnesty. this would have meant he would put illegals on an expedited path to return here legally and presumably become lawful citizens. This is not hardline anti-immigration. It is a very forgiving and magnanimous policy. but to hear the media and those in both parties talk about trump and immigration it was often to hear comparisons to Hitler and the holocaust. The demonization of trump and his supporters who wanted a sane immigration policy was a factor in his win. If the globalists in both parties and the media demonize him and manage to oust him, his supporters may well look in desperation to candidates who are as evil as Trump's opponents thought he andn his supporters really were. The anti trumpers may end up making their nightmare come true.

Cordeezy's picture

Pretty sure Zerohedge has been talking about this since Trump has been the republican candidate, and it took a Harvard study to prove this? Lol who didn't know this ?

What do they know.

I checked with the news media and they said they're all professionals and only report the facts.

It's news that reasonable people have a beef with an idiot like Trump?

nevertheless's picture

So Harvard tells us the media is bias, Harvard, the globalist shit hole?

Of course that is what Harvard will say, this is all about pushing the media bias, the left will believe the media more, and the right hated the media anyway and will run to support Trump, who is: "under attack by the media".

This is all a dance, the media is owned by the same Wall Street filth that owns Trump.

Does the media really attack Trump, or do they just through soft ball attacks that are easily refuted and bias?

When was the last time the media reported anything substantive, like his dealings with Jewish mafia?

No, the media just wants you to think they hate trump, if they really hated him, THEY WOULD IGNORE HIM LIKE THEY DID RON PAUL!

You have to be starter people, stop buying into the obvious narratives, it IS destroying America.

nevertheless's picture

My Godson went to Harvard, his dad told me his first semester they were required to take a class on the Haulocast...

That should tell you all you need to know about Harvard's goals are...

While they may play like they hate Trump, its just a role, a role that allows Trump to pardon Clinton, fill his cabinet with Wall Street filth, and kiss Israel's and Saudi Arabia's ass, while his supporters still think hes's great!

It is always about divide and conquer, Zionists are pros at it, here in America and certainly in Europe and England.

NPR = Anti Trump Radio

LOL NPR is most pro-Trump radio on the East coast at least, it always invites Trump representative and gives them equal time as his opponents.

Ahh well the the best and brightest Republican minds, the president, is hated by 61% of the county, so must be because of the anti-Trump media bias, ironically the 61% are the most educated Americans. Of course there is bias, Trumps sells, all media except Fox are over-performing. Daniel do you need Harvard University to know it?

There are some powerful men who run the world...who own the media, banks, etc. They have an agenda.

When I see 100% of the media do the equivalent of a hanging mob, I ask myself how many publishers told their editors to print these things? And how many publishers were told by their banker? And who is the banker?

When I read that over 80% of the media flipped from their usual attacks on Trump, and were infavour of the missile strikes in Syria, I knew I was right.
