Trump Told Russians Firing "Nut Job Comey" Eased Pressure From Investigation

Tyler Durden's picture

It's that time of day again. The market is nearly closed, the weekend draws close and the mainstream media needs a new narrative. Well voila - from none other than anonymously source US officials, The New York Times proclaims that

President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official.

“I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”

Is that what they are laughing at in this image? Or are they scoffing at Anthony Weiner's sexts?

The NYTimes adds that The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting.

Additionally, one official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion, suggesting that the long knives close to Trump may be getting sharper.

There may heva been a method to Trump's madness, an "art of the deal" if you will. According to yet another government official briefed on the meeting and quoted by the NYT, "Trump was using a negotiating tactic when he told Mr. Lavrov about the “pressure” he was under. The idea was to create a sense of obligation with Russian officials and to coax concessions out of Mr. Lavrov - on Syria, Ukraine and other issues - by saying that Russian meddling in last year’s election had created enormous political problems for Mr. Trump."

It's unclear if this particular approach worked, although in retrospect it certainly provided hours of entertainment for the Russian foreign ministry.

In response to the NYT story, the White House did not deny the quotes but instead said that Comey's "grandstanding" and "politicizing" of the Russia probe hurt diplomatic efforts with Moscow.

"The President has always emphasized the importance of making deals with Russia as it relates to Syria, Ukraine, defeating ISIS and other key issues for the benefit and safety of the American people," White House spokesman Sean Spicer says in statement. "By grandstanding and politicizing the investigation into Russia’s actions, James Comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with Russia," Spicer says

"The investigation would have always continued, and obviously, the termination of Comey would not have ended it" Spicer said adding that "once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations"

Meanwhile, Comey is now merely the latest high profile figure portrayed in a similar way by Trump:

Trump's having a hard time dealing with Obama's magical empire for the rich and criminally insane.

Expat's picture

Which Obama inherited from Bush, which Bush inherited from Clinton, which Clinton got from Bush...and so on.

Oh, sorry, were you talking about some fantasy America where only left-wing jews are rich, powerful and corrupt?  I thought this thread was about reality.

Sorry, but I just realized I missed a major point.  Trump is one of the rich, criminally insane!

About a week ago he signed an executive order for the office of budget management to recommend a reorganization of the executive. To make it more "efficient". Every intelligence agency, justice, FBI all those pesky three letter agencies, every rebellious deep state piece of swamp crap under the executive is about to get flushed down the DC toilet.

These thing take time. I think his first full budget cycle, where it's "all Trump" starts in September.

Is Trump holding the heads of these agencies that are leaking accountable? He is the Boss.

They are not investigating.

They are searching for reasons to investigate.

Thus they are grasping at straws and creating straw men.

The straw men set Trump on fire.

They see new smoke and begin grasping at more straws.

They then hold a joint session and nobody knows what they’re smoking.

Where there’s smoke they create fire.

Trump Is Toast.

"Joint" session?? Haha. Take a toke for the cause

None of this matters. None of it. The fact that President Trump likes the word "nut job". and thought Comey was a colossal pain in the ass and was ecstatic he was gone

Like a raging fever in a delusional patient, something is breaking in the Anti-Trump Propaganda machine. When you have Hillary loving, Lolita Express flying Alan Dershowitz suddenly storming upon the scene to throw a big bucket of ice cold water on this six month effort to oust Trump, you gotta know something HUGE has happened behind the scenes. Just watch Dershowitz absolutely demolish the Dem's carefully constructed narrative:

I don't think it's a coincidence that this is happening the DAY Carlos Danger pled guilty in court and was sentenced to prison, Huma "Stand by Your Man" Abedin FINALLY files for divorce, and the Seth Rich scandal is set to explode.

Call it Karma kicking ass. Call it the stars aligning for cosmic justice. Or call it God moving to defeat Satan's kingdom (my personal favorite)......the end is drawing near.

az_patriot's picture

Comey is/was Hillary's bitch and is bought and paid for by the swamp monsters.  Damn good move on Trump's part to get rid of him, and I hope it's just the beginning.  And I agree that Comey was a nut case.  His public "exoneration" of Hillary proved it.

66Mustanggirl's picture

Amen to that. Many people are saying we will look back and say that firing Comey was a watershed moment. I think they are correct. There are cracks in the damn and the tsunami is coming.

King of Ruperts Land's picture

OK that's three votes YES, me you, Trump. Anyone care to stick their neck out and vote NO, Comey's not a nut job?

King of Ruperts Land's picture

Someone should do the poll "Is Comey a nut job? YES NO"

az_patriot's picture

The MSM is VASTLY underestimating the support for Trump, and overplaying their anti-Trump hand.  We sent him in there to drain the swamp, and the swamp is biting him back.  So far, he's taking the punches and it's appreciated by the voters.  The MSM can go to hell, along with their bullshit propaganda and "news" stories based on "anonymous" sources.

stljoe's picture

I would feel better about this if he actually drained the swamp but all I see is a guy who ratcheted up spending in the last budget and tried to rebrand Obamacare as Trumpcare. Not impressed with a guy who can't decide between draining the swamp with a straw or refilling it with a bucket.

az_patriot's picture

Considering the alternative (Hillary), most of Trump's supporters are still right there with him.  Think things are not going as expected now?  Try the Hildabeast on for size.  We would already be in WWIII, the Supreme Court further infected with liberal loonies, and our rights further stripped away.  I'm happy with Trump if for no other reason than the Supreme Court appointments.

The worse ones are the GOPe and NeverTrumpers. Trump assembled a majority built on the vast numbers of disgruntled former Dems and former Reps, aka the fastest growing party that now outnumbers the Dems and Reps combined. The GOPe doesn't care what happens after they destroy Trump so long as the status quo is restored. The NeverTrumpers are the worst because they believe that by destroying Trump, those of us who have strayed from the "conservative" plantation will have been chastised and so will return to the fold. WRONG!

Trump won because he recognized the 3rd Party potential jumping out of the Venn diagram and by avoiding using Dem-specific and/or Rep-specific language, united everyone around the key issues that ex-Dems and ex-Reps cared about. But rather than go 3rd party, he brought the vote into the GOP race by running, just as "radical extremist" David Brat had done, on the official GOP platform.

The way forward is to recognize Trump's major accomplishment of wrecking the Bush AND Clinton crime syndicates in one election and build on that new voter base. Getting fixated and obsessed about Trump will only serve to kill the last chance we have to get back to a functioning constitutional sovereign America. We need to make this work NOW! This is our LAST chance. There will be no "next time" should the establishment succeed in negating the last election.

Usually we start investigations with the certainty that an actual crime has been committed.  HABEUS CORPUS. Then we investigate who might have committed the crime.  And in the course of the investigations sources, and many "anonymous" sources, appear to make various assertions about who committed the crime.  Finally, when enough is known, we try the crime and criminal at once.

Here we have the assertion that a crime has been committed,  "Russian Hacking" emails, bundled with an assertion of guilt

But the people in question were using unsecured, unencrypted email servers in public domains.   This means the emails in question were litterally floating around the internet for completely naked, for all to see.    It is like printing a giant image of your credit card on a bus and then claiming burglarized your house and stole it.

We don't know if any hacking of elections has occurred yet.  We asked for opinions before we collected evidence.  Thus far we only know RT is popular...but that's not a crime.

Were now calling for impeachment and trials.   When will we have a specific crime to try?

Why are we holding investigations and calling for trials BEFORE HABEUS CORPUS???

I assert, it is because the real crime must remain unspoken...because it is no real crime.  The election.

And because they can no longer tolerate any moderation of their agenda, they now wish to thrust upon us a Rule By Star Chamber.

No.  Your wallet may be fatter, but your bullets are pretty much the same.   This won't end well for you, win, lose, or draw.

That these facts are disregarded makes me doubt the sanity of our elites.

Pasadena Phil's picture

Here is something I hadn't heard of before about Comey's deep ties with the Clintons:

Apparently, the illegal private email server wasn't the first case where Comey obstructed investigations into Clinton crimes. It seems that it has been his career for a long time. If this is true, why is it not BIG news?

seth rich's killing..nothing to see here move along

the real rock hard spying case,,is of course ignored:

"Imran Awan and his two brothers, Jamal and Abid, are at the center of an investigation that deals with, among other things, allegations of illegal access.  They have been barred from the House of Representatives network.

A member of Congress expressed concern that, “they may have stolen data from us.”

All three of the Pakistani brothers had been employed by Democrats. The offices that employed them included HPSCI minority members Speier, Carson and Joaquín Castro. Congressman Castro, who also sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, utilized the services of Jamal Moiz Awan. Speier and Carson’s offices utilized Imran Awan."

no matter how important or damaging the news story it gets burried if not in the elite

interest..funny is it not?

I was a minute taker. Summarizing meetings. In taking a summary salient points of what was discussed are taken, key issues are highlighted.
No direct quote with terms like 'nut job' would ever be taken down in minutes.
What would be written, if anything at all, would be something like this.
"The President informed the Russian Guests that he has ended the employment of FBI leader James Comey. The President informed his guests that Mr. Comey did not have the President under investigation."
This indicates that either the Minute Taker was planted to put something dirty into the minutes, or there is no such thing in them.
The White House should question then fire the person who took the minutes then move to question the person who hired this plant. And they should check what the minutes say against what was actually said.

Comey is a total nutjob. This has been totally obvious to any sane observer for some time now.
I saw that Comey was a nut job right after he held a press conference to let the witch off. Talk about obstruction of justice! Then with a flood of protests from ex FBI and a stack of resignation letters on his desk Comey sends an all users email memo to the FBI that only a nutjob could have written.

The problem now is that there are nutjobs up and down the halls of power. There was no chance of advancement if you were not either a nutjub or pretended to be a nutjob, and all that pretending could drive one to become a nutjob.

I would say Trump is batting 1000 on his nutjob calls (and enemy of the people calls.)

Sizzurp's picture

Obviously firing Comey had the opposite effect Trump was expecting, but I am sure it was satisfying.  Trump should have fired everyone from day 1, not doing so was his biggest blunder.  His administration is now riddled with spies and saboteurs. I see little chance for Trump to save the ship at this point, however there is one thing he could do to hit back hard.  He could go on a nationwide campaign to the grassroots.  Go visit every state and help the governors organize an Article 5 convention of the states to vote on new amendments to the constitution.  Limits on terms, federal taxes and spending, and immigration could be in reach. This would take an epic effort, but it could give him the greatest legacy of any president, even if he ends up impeached and thrown out.

King of Ruperts Land's picture

The ship is sinking (nutjob)! Jump off now (nutjob)! There is no time for a life jacket (nutjob)! Jump off now (nutjob)! Go for it! (nutjob)

By the way people. The constitution is just fine. Only gun grabbing communist lefties, Mohomodin Sharia extremists and globalist slime, among other traitorous scum need to fuck up the constitution to implement their demonic plans.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has refuted the claims that he had ostensibly discussed the dismissal of the former FBI director Comey with US President Donald Trump during the minister's meeting with the US President on May 10.

Earlier this week, mainstream media outlets like the Washington Post, New York Times published articles claiming that Trump had told Lavrov that firing Comey ameliorated "great pressure."

"We did not touch on that topic at all," Lavrov told reporters on Saturday.

Two separate National Security Council sources have confirmed that National Security Advisor H. R. McMaster and Deputy National Security Advisor Dina Powell have been leaking negative material about President Donald J. Trump to their allies in the anti-Trump media, GotNews can exclusively report.

“It’s very hard when your boss, the President, and your boss, the NSC advisor, see the world so differently,” says one staffer, who opposes regime change in Syria.

Staffers on the National Security Council describe a culture of intimidation, especially for those who didn’t come in under McMaster and support the Trump campaign’s commitment to put America First.

“It’s like the Bush years never ended,” notes one staffer who didn’t come in under McMaster. “I didn’t sign up for this shit and the American people didn’t vote for it.”

The staffer also doubts that Democrats are to blame for withholding security clearances, especially for those with ties to General Michael Flynn. The Pentagon under Secretary Mattis has been working with Senator John McCain to deny security clearances over the fictitious Russia investigation.

Senator John McCain was working with his long-time political ally James Comey. That FBI background process may have become easier now that Comey is gone.

McMaster uses Powell to plant negative stories in the Washington, D.C. media, our sources tell us.

“We all know she slept her way to the top of NSC, working her way from the receptionist desk at Dick Armey’s office,” notes one NSC staffer. “She has zero qualifications and given her ties to Huma Abedin is a security risk.”
Dina Powell, who is often described as “The Republican Huma Abedin,” is a member of Vital Voices, an organization founded and co-chaired by Hillary Clinton

Dina Habib Powell wants everyone to know that she used to bring leftover mloukhia to school for lunch and that she is a good friend of Hillary Clinton’s aide Huma Abedin, who worked with her husband at the Clinton-linked consultancy Teneo. Powell is also close to Valerie Jarrett.

Looks like Vital Voice, which Hillary founded and which Dina Powell is a member of, is a part of Hillary’s donation racket. It was mentioned in one of Hillary’s paid speeches: “Well, let me start with a thank you. I mean, I think Bank of America’s partnership with Vital Voices is just exemplary. I mean, what you’re doing to support Vital Voices in the mentoring and development arena really matters.”

Liz Cheney, the daughter of then-Vice President Dick Cheney, described Powell in 2005 as “an Arab woman who could serve as a role model to the Middle East”.

Powell took over staffing for the White House. She’s using her neocon connections to now staff President Trump’s National Security Council.

Powell has a history of placing hits against her perceived rivals, say those who worked with her in Dick Armey’s office.

In the 1990s she got in trouble leaking negative stories on none other than Ginny Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas. The attacks alienated Powell from working with Armey’s office and she was exiled to the Republican National Committee.

After several months of inquiry, GotNews will also be breaking news about Dina Powell’s time at Goldman Sachs and her relationship to former Goldman Sachs president and current director of Trump’s National Economic Council Gary Cohn later in the week, as well as her connection to Ivanka and Jared Kushner — a senior administration official confirmed via text message that Powell and Cohn have been having an affair.

Too good to be true? As Politico reported, GotNews is good enough to be read by President Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office — he reads us, and you should too.

Stay tuned for more.
