Trump Told Russians Firing "Nut Job Comey" Eased Pressure From Investigation

Tyler Durden's picture

It's that time of day again. The market is nearly closed, the weekend draws close and the mainstream media needs a new narrative. Well voila - from none other than anonymously source US officials, The New York Times proclaims that

President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official.

“I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”

Is that what they are laughing at in this image? Or are they scoffing at Anthony Weiner's sexts?

The NYTimes adds that The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting.

Additionally, one official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion, suggesting that the long knives close to Trump may be getting sharper.

There may heva been a method to Trump's madness, an "art of the deal" if you will. According to yet another government official briefed on the meeting and quoted by the NYT, "Trump was using a negotiating tactic when he told Mr. Lavrov about the “pressure” he was under. The idea was to create a sense of obligation with Russian officials and to coax concessions out of Mr. Lavrov - on Syria, Ukraine and other issues - by saying that Russian meddling in last year’s election had created enormous political problems for Mr. Trump."

It's unclear if this particular approach worked, although in retrospect it certainly provided hours of entertainment for the Russian foreign ministry.

In response to the NYT story, the White House did not deny the quotes but instead said that Comey's "grandstanding" and "politicizing" of the Russia probe hurt diplomatic efforts with Moscow.

"The President has always emphasized the importance of making deals with Russia as it relates to Syria, Ukraine, defeating ISIS and other key issues for the benefit and safety of the American people," White House spokesman Sean Spicer says in statement. "By grandstanding and politicizing the investigation into Russia’s actions, James Comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with Russia," Spicer says

"The investigation would have always continued, and obviously, the termination of Comey would not have ended it" Spicer said adding that "once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations"

Meanwhile, Comey is now merely the latest high profile figure portrayed in a similar way by Trump:

Idiot! Your good senses have thawed out.

Should only take a few .. maybe up to half-a-dozen (they ARE dense, after all) and the leaks would finally stop.

Jeffersonian Liberal's picture

See my post above (with a short, numbered list) to see why you may be believing a lie by the leftist-controlled Statist media.

Honest John's picture

Here come the leaks again. Gotta bomb Syria or North Korea to get the dogs off his back. Sad. Very sad.

Cassandra.Hermes's picture

The levels of crazy in this story
1. he said this to the Russians of all people
2. Bragging about canning Comey
3. the thing actually leaked

FrozenGoodz's picture

WH Responding to this story:

1) Never happened

2) Trump tweets about it

3) It happened but it's not big deal

4) No further questions

HopefulCynic's picture

Yeah...... because the media does what Trump wants them to do.

Cassandra.Hermes's picture

Yeah this one was most probably leaked by Trump, it is done just one hour before his foreign trip and on the meeting were 6 americans and 5 russians,

not hard to find who did it.

SDShack's picture

If I was Trump I would tweet "I said this to have more "flexibility" to deal with the Russians later"... and watch the lamestream media and dumbcrat heads explode. I mean... "At this point, what difference does it make!"

Jeffersonian Liberal's picture

How much do you get paid for you moronic trolling comments?

Seriously, your supervisor ought to consider firing you and replacing you with someone who understands subtlety.

You are a waste at this 'agent provocateur' game.

nmewn's picture

Extreme levels...the phantom document doesn't even give a date...preferring to say "this month"?

You would think they could at least expend the effort to at to nail it down to sometime after May 9th...lol.

Every time I think I couldn't hate these rags any more than I already do, they come out with shit like this. Unbelievable. Anti-trust these sons of bitches, or better yet, burn their studios and newsrooms down.

How about a cruise missle? :-)

Trump and Lavrov both look like they slept past the sun-lamp timers.

LyLo's picture

That's what happens to older people with very fair complexion that spent their whole lives getting a lot of sun. My grandpa looked even worse, but he was a red head that worked a farm his whole life.

Used to be a pretty common look. Just FYI.

This story may be a load of crap, but I wish at least one leaker of any sort of classified information would get caught and thrown into the slammer. That might send a message.

SRV's picture

How about shutting down the paper that dumps anti-Trump fantasy pieces on a late Friday after a string of bad Deep State news...

irie1029's picture

But Comey is a nut job!

nmewn's picture

According to the NYT'S, the document was read to the NYT'S by an anonymous government official.

They're not even trying to hide their moonbattery now...lmao!!!

irie1029's picture

Ha I missed that thanks!

Did he have a southern drawl, exhibit the Ole Coke Snorter's sniffles?

Then it just may be a FORMER gov official fairly well known in the 90s...

Monitor Pence. I think he is behind all this shit.

This is off the charts surreal.

Last of the Middle Class's picture

A double tap to the back would slow some of that shit down.

SDShack's picture

Hmm. today Weiner pleads guilty, Huma files for divorce, Biden throws Hitlery under the bus, Rosenstein confirms Comey firing was appropriate, rape charges against Assange dropped, the Russians say Hitlery murdered Seth Rich.... the Friday news dump wasn't looking good for the lamestream Sunday press. So look....Trump Squirrel PLUS the Russians are involved!" Now they can all run with another fake news story and bury all the real news once again.

indio007's picture

Whoop there it is ^^^^

One of We's picture

To be fair, if ZH hadn't reported on the NYT story I would've never known it had happened.....if it happened.

Grandad Grumps's picture

Hmmmm ... nutjob weasel? Do you recall the crazy prehistoric squirrel creature in Ice Age, the move? << Comey. "Nutjob Weasel".

loveyajimbo's picture

And just WHO supposedly took these notes that were leaked? I doubt that there was much of a crowwd with Trump and the Russians in the Oval Office... Fuggin' NYT, and the rest of the far left MSM should lose their licenses if they continue with this SEDITIOUS shit...

mc888's picture

It says 3 govt officals... WTF?? Hard to believe they had a 'press conference' with 3 leakers. More likely NSA or CIA has the office bugged. That's why they haven't identified the leakers yet.

So why in the blue hell hasn't Trump repealed the Obamunist EO distributing classified info to all the agencies? That's a no-brainer that shoulda been a zero-day.

rejected's picture

Thanks ZH,,, I no longer have to go to the NYT web page to read their crap...

whatamaroon's picture

Same here, I refuse to give Wapoo, Nyt etc click revenue.

Smedley's Butler's picture

I recall footage of Lavorv giving a joint press conference with Tillerson when a reporter tells him a Comey was fired...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVYJGKJ0pyM

These idiots with cameras and notepads told him first... while taping it... wtf is going on?!

Also, the world now knows that firing Comey did not end the investigation.

Lastly, I encourage this daily behavior by MSM. Get your followers all emotionally worked up then let them down when the truth comes out. Few by few they will break off and give up on the b.s.

khakuda's picture

It is awful to see who they collude to destroy people. I knew a guy who was being investigated on something, had his name leaked to the papers and after almost 2 years was never charged, but they refused to exonerate him. They just said they would not be bringing a case against him. He ended up losing his job because his employer didn't like the fact that anyone could google and his name would come up with the bad headlines.

What is going on with the President is classic government and media bullying to sway public opinion and prevent him from getting anything done. Party before country liberals.

Only half of that news is fake. You pick.

An anonymous source once told me that Obama liked being the chocolate filling between two old white men, even as POTUS, while his tranny wife watched!

LyLo's picture

My anonymous source read the transcript of one of the encounters, and two other anonymous sources that said they were present agree with the account.

GunnyG: your story totally checks out, according to my super-serious reporting skillz.

As long as Mr. Trump doesn't backpedal, apologize or equivocate, he'll be fine.

In simple terms, be proud you said it and tell the press to FOAD (politely)

An old Planet of the Apes scene comes to mind - the hologram of the giant ape, bleeding and falling to his death, only to be dissolved instantly when the real ape decided to ride right through it.
