Trump Told Russians Firing "Nut Job Comey" Eased Pressure From Investigation

Tyler Durden's picture

It's that time of day again. The market is nearly closed, the weekend draws close and the mainstream media needs a new narrative. Well voila - from none other than anonymously source US officials, The New York Times proclaims that

President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official.

“I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”

Is that what they are laughing at in this image? Or are they scoffing at Anthony Weiner's sexts?

The NYTimes adds that The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting.

Additionally, one official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion, suggesting that the long knives close to Trump may be getting sharper.

There may heva been a method to Trump's madness, an "art of the deal" if you will. According to yet another government official briefed on the meeting and quoted by the NYT, "Trump was using a negotiating tactic when he told Mr. Lavrov about the “pressure” he was under. The idea was to create a sense of obligation with Russian officials and to coax concessions out of Mr. Lavrov - on Syria, Ukraine and other issues - by saying that Russian meddling in last year’s election had created enormous political problems for Mr. Trump."

It's unclear if this particular approach worked, although in retrospect it certainly provided hours of entertainment for the Russian foreign ministry.

In response to the NYT story, the White House did not deny the quotes but instead said that Comey's "grandstanding" and "politicizing" of the Russia probe hurt diplomatic efforts with Moscow.

"The President has always emphasized the importance of making deals with Russia as it relates to Syria, Ukraine, defeating ISIS and other key issues for the benefit and safety of the American people," White House spokesman Sean Spicer says in statement. "By grandstanding and politicizing the investigation into Russia’s actions, James Comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with Russia," Spicer says

"The investigation would have always continued, and obviously, the termination of Comey would not have ended it" Spicer said adding that "once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations"

Meanwhile, Comey is now merely the latest high profile figure portrayed in a similar way by Trump:

Obama and Hillary are really accessory to murder in the Bengazi

And then absolving themselves of responsibilty to the American people by blaming a movie?

To preserve his re-election????

Weiner is Guilty...

So now try Hums and Hillary.

I'll file this story away under the "Who Cares" category.

barysenter's picture

Soetoro leaked this. He's a major nut job. Apart from everything else, Trump has become the focus of his envy. Soetoro needs a distraction.

kuz's picture

I have a feeling Trump himself  is leaking half of these stories to the media, to keep them and liberals in the state of hysteria.

RICKYBIRD's picture

Or as bait to identify a leaker.

john316jr's picture

The race is on: Can some one to get Weiner to roll on Hillary, Huma, et al before the machine eats Trump? One thing that keeps coming to mind with all this: Can some one name a previous president that has the experience with thus is able to handle scandal to the extent that Trump can?  Anyway, the race is on.

FoggyWorld's picture

Based on the little he was charged with, looks to me as if Weiner is getting the benefit of being Comey's final cover up.

SDShack's picture

There is nothing that anyone could offer me to roll on Hitlery...

Sure he did ;-)

Gotta keep the meme alive...

This one I might partially believe, Comey is a fucking squirrel. NYT and WaPO are turning into the fucking Onion.

Trump looks in the mirror and talks:

Comey is a nutjob, means little donnie boy is a nutjob.

Lying Ted, means little donnie boy is a liar.

Low energy Jeb , means little donnie boy is low energy.

Little donnie boy needs to quit and go away.

100 things we like about Trump
11-20 He's not a career politician
21-30 He made his own money. Lots of it.
31-40 He noes well the brillig toves Al Gore calls home, from under which Shrub Niggurath's other slimy issue crawl.
41-50 Every day he is most odious to my enemies.
51-60 His weekly progress is consistent. His feedback is good.
61-70 Watching my enemies squeal is not only just, and entertaining, it is confirmation.
71-80 I was right. Now everybody knows I was right. Watch and learn.
81-90 Any fool can see the crimes now, their enemies killing them, slowly, in real time.
91-100 First president since at least Bonnie Barrow whose wife has class, brains and integrity. Possibly the 1st ever.
One Regret. Bill Gates. He was a Roarke. He chose to be Toohey. What a shame.
No matter how bad it gets, just wait. You don't want to miss this redemption and vindication of your society.

My sources are telling me that the Autists have uncovered definitive proof of a conspiracy to commit Murder!

The strategy will be to release this information en masse to prevent any one individual from being discredited.

Im told this will be an "actual Happening" and that time is now on their side. Take that however you want it.

U.S. Luge champion Dina Powell was present in the room.  She has a good, good friend at the New York Times named Maggie Haberman.  Remember that an investigation is closing in on who leaked the earlier story about the laptop bombs and revealed classified intelligence.  So the same person may be fighting back.

Akzed's picture

On Tuesday, GotNews revealed Powell to be a leaker, and can now report Haberman received classified information from her.

"the White House did not deny the quotes "

Was wondering about the little amount of ZH spin. Nice try dragging sleazeball Weiner into this though. Nobody can claim that the Tylers ain't trying.

Ah yes, another "read on the phone" memo. Unless it was a video feed, how do you even fucking know Shallow Throat is reading from a doodle and not just talking out of his ass ?

The new Deep State leaks today have WAPO saying a current white house official is under scrutiny.
It would have to be Stephen Miller Jared Kushner or Steve Bannon as they say it is a top advisor. Of Course we all know that such scrutiny could be for reasons that are completely ridiculous.
Is it more political madness as defined below

FoggyWorld's picture

Well we know it's not Jared being put under scrutiny.

You have to wonder what Congress and the Democrats would do if they found one, just one, top secret e-mail on Trump's private server? (Well, that won't happen, because Trump says he doesn't use e-mai), but you know what I mean).

One of We's picture

No-fly zone over Mar a Lago, carpet bombing of lower Manhattan, John Podesta appointed as foster parent for Trump's little boy.....for starters.....

Nope, not email. The way this man operates it is more likely he'd tweet the nuclear launch codes to make some obscure point.

Hey, has anyone heard if Trump farted when he took a crap today? Come on NYT, get on it. America needs to know!

The New York Times is a Jewish rag that has finally lost any importance it once had and is now heading into the dumpster accompanied by other lying filthy rags such as the Washington Post owned by that greedy Jew Bezos with their unnamed fucking sourced reports..

Grandpa says he wouldn't even wipe his ass with these papers because they would make him feel dirty.

And as an aside, why the necessity of reporting these bullshit stories here ad nausea?

NAV's picture

Some people find the media conspiracy a comic subject...until they are destroyed by it.

NAV's picture

There has to be something that protects us from the vitriol of the media; a no-media-without-representation sort of thing. When the likes of CNN is in every gym, every office, every sports bar, when the NY Times and WaPo and their ilk are on every street corner and in every library – when they are owned solely by one ethnic group -- that’s not free speech. That’s Leninism. That's Marxist Pravda. One of the purposes of the U.S. government was to break up monopoly, like this media. We need an enforcement by government that enables free speech to flourish and that disallows a national media monopoly. A  monomedia that lies to the American people, en masse, and then asks people to make a choice – based on the lies they’ve been force fed, has no place in America.

Unfortunately, half of Americans, and that includes 60% of the Congress, have become so decadent, they will fight for nothing, not even truth. They have no spines left.

Waiting for the Barbarians (C.P. Cavafy)

What are we waiting for, assembled in the forum?
The barbarians are due here today.
Why isn’t anything happening in the senate?
Why do the senators sit there without legislating?
Because the barbarians are coming today.
What laws can the senators make now?
Once the barbarians are here, they’ll do the legislating.
Why did our emperor get up so early,
and why is he sitting at the city’s main gate
on his throne, in state, wearing the crown?
Because the barbarians are coming today
and the emperor is waiting to receive their leader.
He has even prepared a scroll to give him,
replete with titles, with imposing names.
Why have our two consuls and praetors come out today
wearing their embroidered, their scarlet togas?
Why have they put on bracelets with so many amethysts,
and rings sparkling with magnificent emeralds?
Why are they carrying elegant canes
beautifully worked in silver and gold?
Because the barbarians are coming today
and things like that dazzle the barbarians.
Why don’t our distinguished orators come forward as usual
to make their speeches, say what they have to say?
Because the barbarians are coming today
and they’re bored by rhetoric and public speaking.
Why this sudden restlessness, this confusion?
(How serious people’s faces have become.)
Why are the streets and squares emptying so rapidly,
everyone going home so lost in thought?
Because night has fallen and the barbarians have not come.
And some who have just returned from the border say
there are no barbarians any longer.
And now, what’s going to happen to us without barbarians?
They were, those people, a kind of solution.

So many clueless Americans are so bedazzled by the Barbarians who’ve commandeered our government and media, that they have no sense but to welcome and appease them. Their group mind makes then very easy prey for the Barbarians.

Trump needs to get his fucking house in order, the fucking place is bugged.

NAV's picture

Who needs to "bug" an anonymous source?

bardot63's picture

Wondering why Trump would have to tell anyone he fired Comey.  Everybody knew it.  No need for Trump to tell anyone, especially Ruskies.

Mzhen's picture

There was joking about it.  Lavrov had been quoted, acting astonished, saying, "They fired Comey?  You're kidding!"

Mike Rotsch's picture

I think it's time for some legal action against the press - citing anonymous sources does not make one immune to committing libel.  If it comes down between the press and the "anonymous sources", they're going to take care of themselves first.  That would kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Mzhen's picture

The Washington Post reporters who printed the classified intelligence from the meeting will probably be subpoenaed.  They may even dramatically go to jail rather than give up their sources because of their dedication to the nobility of the journalism profession.

IridiumRebel's picture

OMG SO NOBLE. Lie like a bitch and then retract 6 days later on page 13.

Journalists are shithead stupid. Newsreaders. They have the critical thinking of syphilitic donkey.

"The results showed that journalists' brains were operating at a lower level than the average population, particularly because of dehydration and the tendency of journalists to self-medicate with alcohol, caffeine, and high-sugar foods.

Forty-one percent of the subjects said they drank 18 or more units of alcohol a week, which is four units above the recommended weekly allowance. Less than 5% drank the recommended amount of water.

However, in interviews conducted in conjunction with the brain profile results, the participants indicated they felt their jobs had a lot of meaning and purpose, and they showed high mental resilience. Swart suggested this gave them an advantage over people in other professions in dealing with the work pressure of tight deadlines."

"they felt their jobs had a lot of meaning".....sycophantic fucks that they are.
These MSM rags can get bent.

NAV's picture

We are being propagandized by vengance and hate. A conniving minoriity backed by the banker-owned media, is bent on killing or jailing the leaders of the freedom movement around the globe, using money easily traceable to America. They are fomenting revolution, made in the U.S.A.

Joebloinvestor's picture

I would almost believe the exchange if the Russian had said, "We don't fire people."

IridiumRebel's picture

"In Mother Russia, we don't fire people. People become on fire."

shadow54's picture

The White House doesn't deny Trump said Comey was a nut job. Trump also said that he was not under investigation in the Russia thing.

It referred to foreign policy, that Trump couldn't do foreign policy with Russia because of all the screaming about so-called Russian Conspiracies

Comey was a nut job - he usurped the Department of Justice in the Clinton case, announced all sorts of crimes she committed and created an entity called intent to let her off.

That it is what a nut job does, so I have no doubt that he was using the Russia investigation to block foreign policy by the White House just like Trump says.

Kefeer's picture

What is really funny, in a sic way, is that the leftist actually believe the NYT's and other fake news outlets narratives.  There cannot be many functioning brain cells in any progressive liberal.

VWAndy's picture

Did Trump talk to the Russians about Seth? That would be interesting.

fatlibertarian's picture

The press knows what Trump's administration can uncover regarding the Democrats and the press (what the press has covered up) so they're trying to work with deep state to destroy his administration's credibility. He's got Sessions in place and on the verge of appointing new FBI Head. Look for counter-leaks to increase against the Clinton/Obama machine. The PROBLEM is, the NYTImes, WaPO, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN are only interested in anti-Trump information. The Trump admin can essentially only leak to Foxnews, online bloggers. They can also leak to congressmen/senators and they're doing that.

Trump said he was going to drain the swamp, and this is what it looks like. The old "conspiracy theory" that deep state really ran our country was CLEARLY ACCURATE.

Bernard_2011's picture

What kind of "nut job" would explicitly say that he fired the FBI Director because of an investigation that "put great pressure" on him?

Furthermore, what kind of "nut job" would say this sort of thing to the very country that is part of the investigation?

Beyond that, what kind of "nut job" would say this sort of thing in a meeting which is going to be DOCUMENTED?

And lastly, what kind of "nut job" would say such a thing given the intense political controversy that already surrounds the issue?

If the Trump quote is accurate, he really should be impeached right now.  This is banana republic type of stuff.

This is so ridiculous it is almost hard to believe that the quote is real---if not for the fact that it is said to be recorded in a White House document.
