Paul Craig Roberts Laments "The Assault On Trump"

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Paul Craig Roberts,

We are witnessing an assault by the national security state and its liberal media on a President of the United States that is unprecedented.

Wild and unsupported accusations of treasonous or illegal Russian connections have been the mainstay of the news since Trump’s campaign for president. These accusations have reached the point that there is an impeachment movement driven by the national security state and its liberal media and endorsed by Democrats, the American leftwing which has turned against the working class as “Trump deplorables,” and luminaries such as Harvard Law Professor Larry Tribe. The Washington Post, which was not present at the meeting of President Trump with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, purports to know that Trump gave Lavrov US national security information.

The Russian government has offered the presstitute media a transcript of the meeting, but, of course, the pressitutes are not interested.

The latest story is that Trump tried to bribe FBI Director Comey, before he fired him, not to investigate Trump as part of the “Russian investigation.” Clearly there is no intelligence left in the American media. The President doesn’t need to bribe someone he can fire.

What we are witnessing is the determination of the national security state to keep their prized “Russian Threat” in its assigned role as the Number One Threat to the US. The liberal media, owned by the CIA since the 1950s is in accord with this goal.

The American media is so accustomed to its enslavement by the national security state that it does not think of the consequences. But Professor Stephen Cohen does. I agree with him that the greatest threat to national security “is this assault on President Trump.”

Cohen said that there is a 4th branch of government, the intelligence community, which obstruts the management of American foreign affairs by the executive branch and Congress.

As an example, he reminded us that “In 2016, President Obama worked out a deal with Russian President Putin for military cooperation in Syria. He said he was going to share intelligence with Russia, just like Trump and the Russians were supposed to do the other day. Our department of defense said it wouldn’t share intelligence. And a few days later, they killed Syrian soldiers, violating the agreement, and that was the end of that. So, we can ask, who is making our foreign policy in Washington today?”

In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy thought he was in charge, and he was assassinated for his belief. JFK blocked an invasion of Cuba, the Northwoods project, a preemptive nuclear strike on the Soviet Union, and spoke of ending the Cold War.

In the 1970s President Nixon was driven from office, because he thought he was in charge of foreign policy. Like Kennedy, Nixon was a threat to the national security state. Nixon pushed through SALT 1 and the anti-ABM Treaty, and he opened to China, defusing those tensions as well. The military/security complex saw its budget dwindling as the threat dwindled. Nixon also determined to withdraw from Vietnam, but was constrained by the national security state. Nixon, the most knowledgeable president about foreign affairs, was forced from office, because his efforts in behalf of peace constituted a threat to the power and profit of the military/security complex.

It is important to understand that there is no evidence whatsoever against Nixon in the Washington Post “investigation.” The Post’s reporters simply put together a collection of inuendoes that cast aspersion on Nixon, whose “crime” was to say that he learned of the Watergate buglary at a later date than he actually did. Nixon kept the burglary quiet until after his reelection, because he knew that the CIA’s Washington Post would use it in an effort to prevent his reelection.

The “crime” for which Nixon was really removed was his success in establishing more peaceful and stable relations with Russia and China.

Trump, being in real estate and entertainment, was unaware of the landmines on which he was stepping when he said it was time to normalize relations with Russia and to rethink the purpose of NATO.

The US military/security complex sits on a budget extracted from very hard-pressed American taxpayers of $1,000 billion dollars annually. By threatening to normalize relations with the enemy which was created in order to justify this vast budget, Trump presented as the major threat to the American National Security State’s power and profit.

This is why Trump will be broken and/or removed as President of the United States.

Once again democracy in American is proving to be powerless. There is no one in Washington who can help Trump. Those who could help him, such as myself, cannot be confirmed by the US Senate, which is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the military/security complex, Wall Street, and the Israel Lobby.

Trump tried to connect the suffering American people to their government, an act of treason against the oligarchy, who are now making an example of Trump that will dissuade politicians in the future from making populist appeals to the people.

I think you're in the wrong bowl of alphabet soup, RK.  MSNBC CNN NYT WaPo, they're all just running operation Gladio for the real enemies of democracy, FBI CIA NSA DNI...  these are the organizations that have to be purged and reorganized. And fear that's a far more dangerous job for DJT.

Next thing you'll see, is the Divide & Conquer trick played on the GOP:

The Media and Progressives will build up Pence, to get Repubs to desert Trump, impeach him, and put in Dense Pence. The Never Trumpers approve.

More than anything, it's an assault on his smarts and courage, to... "Do whatever is required."

That means handling blatant Sedition, Sabotage and even Treason.

Because he's avoiding these 'manly' decisions that require real man-balls, everyone now knows that he's all bark, no bite. He's an Old Yeller, kept on his leash by his Handlers: Kushner, GS agents, Paul Ryan, Pence. Even Sessions is an utter leather-sniffing sissy. No one has been arrested.

No team execution to a grand strategy. Only rushing from one Let's Make A Deal to another, like a hustler or car salesman.  Sad. Tragic.

Obama PURGED even the military, why can't Trump purge the Deep State?  Things are reaching a state that would justify the military stepping in.

Only the citizens themselves can ever hope to save themselves.

No one is going to do it for you.

It's called the Declaration of Independence because the only true safe spaces are won by hard work and dedication, same as it ever was and same as it ever will be.

Make sure the door they knock on isn't where you actually live.  A couple of strategically placed claymores (or improvised units) set to answer the door on your behalf......

Past explosions do not guarantee future results.

conraddobler's picture

Sure maybe or maybe not.

Because you can only cure what is wrong with the world by curing yourself first.

You can't beat sick and twisted with some new improved sick and twisted.  The only thing that truly beats sick and twisted is being a better person.

Once sufficient people resort to this a miracle happens, the fog of hell lifts and the world becomes a better place.

So I don't recommend that people "do" anything.  Quite the opposite.

They get you that way by trying to out compete everyone you run the hamster wheel they use to enslave us all.

Don't run on it and it loses all it's power.

That is the only thing that will ever save us all.

You can't out evil these fuckers by doing that you'd become what you hate.

The answer isn't hate it's complete indifference.  Just pretend they don't exist and soon they won't.

Simple fix but to do this you have to be at peace with a lot less stuff at least the love of stuff and money because that's the root of all evil.

America's own greed is powering this evil without that greed non of this would be possible.  The solution is not to do anything but become better people and in doing so we will all find we're now deserving of better leadership and much better able to spot it.

It's really the only thing that's ever saved anyone.

Not saying don't defend yourself but to truly defend yourself you have to have a defensible position.  You can't be a greedy fuck and expect to be in a defensible position against other greedy fucks.

It doesn't work that way at all.

That is the nicest excuse I have heard so far for doing nothing at all.

The "just" don't initiate force nor do they become unjust by responding in kind. They are only unjust if they have the means act but make lame excuses for inaction.  You don't have to choose a violent course of action but you must actively resist evil if you have the means to do so.  There are many ways and doing nothing is not one of them.

Thomas Jefferson and his cohorts fought for their property which included ownership of their own lives.  They risked everything and chose a path that can only be construed as violent.  Kind of sad our current oppressors make King George look like a saint by comparison.  George may have been a pompous asshole but he was not even close to the level of total evil we see now.

If only they (founding fathers) thought like you .....

conraddobler's picture

I actually said that people should do the only sure thing anyone can do.

That is work on themselves.

Control is an illusion and if you fight evil you will become it.   I am not saying you should tolerate it or not stop it when you can you should but if you actually take up the cause of fighting evil you will become that which you fight.

The war on terror is a great example of this.

You can't win a war on terror you can only stop being terrorized, the more you wage a war on terror the more terror there will be.

You are what you consistently do.

How can you fight evil when you have to abide by rules and evil does not?

You CAN refuse to be evil and if enough do, then evil loses all it's power.  If you FIGHT evil then you have to resort to evil to win and you lose.

Get it?

I doubt it.

But I thought I'd try.

The founding fathers you speak of have created something which has morphed into, for WHATEVER REASON, the EXACT STINKING THING THEY WERE FIGHTING only about several trillion times worse.

Proof of what I'm saying is no clearer than that.

You are what you fight against, don't fight, just be.

We were created by God to live and be, not to work at a job or fight terror, but be better people, you win that way, not by fighting but by just being who you are.

They have no defense for that because THERE IS NONE but to be who you are and not fight takes the most courage of all.

jaxville's picture

You are right .....  I don't get it, at least what you are saying.

Those running America (and all Western States) only succeeded because the principles behind the revolution have been forgotten. Also all that God sought to give us through Jesus is now belittled on every level by the real owners of the state.

That was no accident.  It was a counter revolution financed by the purveyors of credit, rationalized by their brethren in education and media and enforced by their brethren in the judiciary.  Had we followed Jefferson's advice concerning watering the tree of liberty we would not be held by the throat by those who worship the serpent

But you probably don't get that so I guess we are even.

OverTheHedge's picture

That's almost Taoist in its non-action advice. Keeps your head down, concentrate on your own development, and leave all the big decisions to those who know better. Someone else will sort it all out and in the meantime, you will have become a better sheep.

Sadly, I almost didn't read this article, because I wasn't feeling insoucant enough, and then lo and behold! No insousance! I now feel cheated, and there was nothing insoucant in the article at all.

It would seem that it is now a case of The People vs The Intelligence Community. We need Harry Tuttle (or was it Harry Buttle) to ride to the rescue.

It's fair to say that, if there is another World War, (((We The People))) will have failed.

After that line of stirring rhetoric, I am off to have fun with the family on a picnic - leaving all the big questions for someone else to sort out. Anybody ought to ........

Socratic Dog's picture

I felt betrayed by the lack of insouciance in the article.

But full credit for somehow managing to slide Harry Butler's name in there. A Hedge first, I daresay.

Hide and watch.  When they come for you then make your decision. At that moment do not be dissuaded.   Understand this, you are not alone.  Roughly ten million Americans will stand up and resist tyranny when it arrives at their door. It is in our genes.  It is part of our nature as a people.

Solzhenitsyn understood.   “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

You are kidding of course.  You do realize that ever customs officer, postal clerk and magistrate was the King’s servant.  On third of the population were intimately connected to those servants and supported the King.  That third worked as a network of spies and support for the Crown.  Ben Franklin’s own son supported the King.

All of this is not going to end well for anyone in the U.S./ AND Globally...

Not only the majority of the people; this includes the media duped citizens, the deep state, the politicians AND the Rothschild bankers & industrialists/ WallStreeters who own this country through it's debt.

Ultimately, those assholes will also lose as their investment totally tanks.

Let's just see them try to repo whats left of their collateral after default.

Most "assets" pledged as collateral are just more paper.  Fractional Reserve/Conjured Money/Infinte Debt is just a front running mirage. There is no "collateral" in any conventional sense. Perhaps 10 cents on the dollar.
