Inside The So-Called 'Resistance'

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Howard Kunstler via Kunstler.com,

Entropy never sleeps. It works remorselessly to transform things of value into useless, dissipated waste and heat. Complexity stokes it especially as the law of diminishing returns multiplies the wheels of futility spinning down to zero. Hence, the intellectual decay of American life in which spin is everything, anything goes, and nothing matters.

The latest manifestation of this dynamic is the curious movement that styles itself The Resistance, lately adopted by the grotesque handmaiden of the Deep State that the Democratic Party became in the regency of Hillary Clinton. Its mission is to undo the results of the last national election by claiming that Russia undid it. It pretends to seek the restoration of something — but what? Of dissipated power relations within the Deep State itself?

President Trump is actually taking care of that by turning government management over to his generals and the minions of Goldman Sachs. The generals are reinvesting in the strategic black hole of our military adventures overseas. The Goldman Sachs appointees are making Wall Street safe for the continued asset-stripping of the USA. The last time I checked, Hillary’s gang did not oppose either of these endeavors.

The Resistance employs cadres of useful idiots — Black Lives Matter, “undocumented” visitors, “Antifa,” the LGBTQ “community” — to pretend that it stands for social justice, but these are just straw persons fronting a gang devoted only to regaining the levers of “privilege” — which they also pretend to be against. The Resistance takes its name from the movement in World War Two France that fought the Nazi occupation, thus self-valorizing itself. But the pre-owned styling is just another victory of spin in the public relations nightmare that American political life has become.

It also begs the question: what would a real resistance look like? First, it would oppose the aforementioned asset-stripping that the US economy has become, the transfer of capital in all its forms — monetary, political, cultural, social — from the dis-employed former middle classes to the tiny, select beneficiaries of financial manipulation. Note that the things being manipulated — markets, currencies, securities, and interest rates — are increasingly phantom entities that appear to maintain their value only because the high priests of financial authority say that they do.

The shelf-life of that flim-flam approaches its endgame as it self-evidently immiserates the masses and their sheer faith in its recondite promises dwindles away to nothing. A genuine resistance would begin to deconstruct this clerisy and its institutions, namely Too Big To Fail banks and the Federal Reserve. The best opportunity to accomplish that would have been the early months of Mr. Obama’s turn in the White House, the dark time of the previous financial crash when the damage was fresh and obvious.

But the former president blew that under the influence of high priests Robert Rubin and Larry Summers. And the lower order clerics were allowed run their hoodoo machine flat out in the following eight years. Just look at the long chart of the Standard & Poors index. Tragically, this ever-upward arc is now taken to be the normal state of things, and when it fails the implosion will be orders of magnitude more violent than the last time.

One would think that a genuine resistance would also oppose the growing consolidation of power in the now-colossal spying apparatus of the nation — the often averred to “seventeen intel agencies” that show signs of being actively at war against other parts of the government and against citizens themselves. Hence, the non-stop murmur of allegation about “Russian interference in the election,” going back to the summer of 2016 without either any real evidence, or any clarification of what is actually alleged to have happened.

Another tragic turn is that this fifth column of rogue intel agencies has recruited the major organs of the news to incessantly repeat its allegations until the public accepts the story as established fact rather than just the manufactured story it so far appears to be. Well, the lives of persons and societies founder on versions of the “reality” they fabricate for their own purposes. A genuine resistance would show foremost some fidelity to a reality beyond the spin-factories of self-delusion. And it would lead in the hard work of shedding this over-burden of self-multiplying despotisms.

Maybe this Memorial Day is a good moment to question the claims of the so-called resistance, and perhaps patriotically meditate on what the nature of an authentic resistance would be to the ongoing decay of this nation while it is still possible.

Find the recipient of his heart, and you find the parents of the recipient, who may have posed as Seth Rich's parents to get the organ harvesting (oops, I mean donation) consent signed off on, perhaps under duress.  Georg Webb's work goes deeper and deeper into the revelations of the workings of Clinton and McCabe's FBI.

The rot has infected so deep the last 8 years (or longer) that it takes massive extirpation to remove it.

That's what Trump and his team are trying to do despite the subversives who call themselves the "resistance." Where was this self-righteous resistance when O'sama Bama was bombing wedding parties and overthrowing foreign governments?

Very good. I had not thought of the harvesting angle. Webb does great, insightful work and might meet the business end of a nail gun as he gets closer.

Going back to read your previous articles caused me also to read the comment sections. Zero Hedge has really changed.  This blog, like many others that appealed to reasonable and rational people have been over run since Trump's election by a sizeable number that uniformily post hate comments against Jews, Israel and the US.

....and I am so glad that ZH has gradually opened its eyes  - not just since the election..that's wrong -  to something else than FOMC minutes and fake employment numbers.

Don't get me wrong: In my opinion, ZH has always been just GREAT..but it is now that much GREATER for having started, a few years back, to show who and what lurks behind the curtains..

It does make for a more polarized type of commenting, but we do live in a more polarized world... getting ready for the great reset.

As my life begins to come to an end I consider myself fortunate to have lived dudring the 1950's and first half of the 1960's. If you missed the 50's and early 60's you have no idea what America was all about. I weep for this once great nation.

Jubal Early's picture

If you had grandchildren you would be weeping for them, not for the big flaming yankee lie called america.  It was never great, it was always a lie.  A lot of people died in order to help evil grow.

There's a very good example of the weak minded cult follower who would rather blame his failure on fantasy story about an evil tribe than accept responsibility for his actions.

@ dbTX:

I've heard the stories my whole life, from my father and his friends; I remember the 80's and a little bit of the 70's.

How great those times were, and though there were problems then, it was nothing like it is now. We're really a shell of what we once were, and I see that difference, even from my youth.

The "Government as Savior", and the "Multicult" crap started gaining traction, when I was nearing the end of high-school.

I remember an ADL-sponsored survey being passed around in my junior-year English class. The survey was supposed to be followed-up with a presentation in the gym. It asked questions such as "How do you feel about [insert minority group here]?"; "Do you believe in the Holocaust?".

I was literally the only student in the school who recognized it as a political/psychological profile, and refused to take it. That netted me a trip to the principal's office, but they weren't expecting the reaction they got, when the school called my father in for a meeting. He showed-up with a lawyer and our local Congressman (a friend of his), and proceeded to tear new assholes for the school's side. He asked them who the hell they thought they were, promoting political agenda to kids, and how a political/psych profile by an outside agency served any legitimate purpose to education.

Needless to say, the school cancelled the presentation, and none of the teachers or administrators ever even looked at me funny after that.

Like I've said in the past, "Libtards are Communism's Retarded Cousins"; they fervently believe their ideals, because they have no knowledge of, or experience with the predictable results, when those beliefs are put into practice. They focus on the feel-good crap, and have been "educated" to think within a narrow set of parameters, wholly-ignoring the fundamentals of liberty.

They will probably eventually get their wish, but who will they cry to, when they realize that the government is their oppressor?

God save us from stupid people.

Diversity and political correctness killed America.  Honesty is gone.   When I grew up in the 50s and 60s, nobody ever heard of diversity or political correctness.  Nobody gave a shit about it.  We had a lot more freedom in those days.  Sure the country was basically white and ruled by whites, but it was good.  Now the country has been ruled by semi-negroes and jews and faggots, and the labor force is flooded with illegals.  I am glad I didn't have any kids.  Having a white kid in America today is pretty much the equivalent of child abuse.

Do you think your black peers would agree with your reminiscences of the fabulous fifties? Or would you not give a shit about their opinions?

Damn! I've come over all progressives, and I hate that!

The blacks I interacted with in the 50s and 60s didn't complain about anything.  Mostly they were treated okay.

Yah, but don't go all old codger on us and pretend it was all that wonderful living under the fear of imminent nuclear holocaust, everyone smoking and drinking and dying by age 60, people dropping dead of air pollution in Pittsburg and only wishing they would die in Los Angeles, polio paralyzing three of your schoolmates every summer, etc.

Even so there was a positivity in the air that sure is missing today.

It bothers me that even a first-rate wordsmith like Jim Kunstler fell into the trap of misusing the phrase "begs the question."

How many times does everyone need to be told? To beg the question is to commit the logical fallacy of assuming the thing to be proven. It is not a synonym for "raises the question," which is what Kunstler meant.

Not only that, he often states things that are simply untrue.

http://davidwatkinson.blogspot.co.uk three books and three blogs. Obviously, I recommend buying the books.

Anyway, tip one. Relax and keep calm. Don't allow fear to make your decisions for you.

When you are at peace, you can think far more effectively.

Honestly, just work through my three books, slowly and with great care.

These problems that our society continually throw at us are merely distractions to prevent us from realising the truth. Should we choose to, we can allow society to slowly and quietly dissolve away as we each contribute towards creating an actual civilisation.

Society creates a fearful noise that makes listening to ourselves very difficult. Find an oasis of calm and listen. Perhaps simply listen to your breath. Try focussing upon the sensations of breathing.

Remember this, you are a human being responsible for yourself. You must become mindful of yourself before you can you truly take care of another.

Society is based on our collective fears.

Civilisation is based on our collective creativity.

Allow fear and society to dissolve.

Breathe in and breathe out. Let it all go.

Practise being a mindful human being and create the civilisation you wish to be a part of.

I have helped, as much as I am able.

Being most americans are lazy slobs who really don't care as well as to vote, lets start with that.

The resistance would probably only be a percentage of the 64 million Hillary votes.  The population is approximately 330 million.

So that would be 19.5 % of the population voted for Hillary and the resistance would not be that much greater then that number based on people who cared to get involved.

231 million are eligible to vote.  So we really have a huge "I don't care " population.

So in theory, if we use the 1/3 human equation,  (1/3 for, 1/3 against, and 1/3 neutral) The resistance at most, would probably only be about 6.5 % of the population.

The rule of 1/3 (For. Against, and Neutral) has been a constant since 1776.

The end game is what the left dare not say: big government run by a handful of elite who make all the decisions and confiscate all the wealth from the rest of us.

VisionQuest's picture

Resistance from the Left to individual liberty, useful education & individual responsibility is composed of a tiny minority of the globe's human population. Since the 1960's that tiny minority has given the appearance of being more powerful than it actually is. The main reason Leftists have gotten away with so much is ordinary normal people think adult Leftists (like Bill Ayers) are vicious, barking-mad enthusiasts incapable of living normal lives. Normal people haven't bothered to pay Leftists much attention until now.

In America, when the insufferable Nancy Pelosi had the temerity to say, "We have to pass the bill to see what's in it..." and then the debacle of Obamacare ensued, ordinary normal people began noticing that Leftists would probably not be content until they took totalitarian control of everything.

In America the push-back of ordinary normal people against Leftism began in earnest on September 12th 2009 in Washington D.C. On that day, ordinary normal people put Leftists on notice that business-as-ususal for Leftism was over. Donald Trump is one of many results from what started in 2009. Trump is significant but he is not stand-alone.

Here are 2 clear assessments of how it all stands at the moment:

https://pjmedia.com/richardfernandez/2017/05/28/farewell-aquarius/

SummerSausage's picture

We can't dismiss the left as a disappearing minority. Look at the college campuses.  Talk to public school children. They have been indoctrinated to believe the US, white people and Jews especially are the cause of everything wrong in the world.

We have an entire generation with no concept of American exceptionalism, No idea of the values that made the US the most prosperous and powerful country. They've been taught our success was a result of imperialism and oppression, not assimilation of shared values of freedom, self reliance and equal opportunity.

The left and Sharia Islam share the same idology and methodology. Until we can make the cult followers of the left open their eyes to reality, we are on the precipice of becoming enslaved to the Nancy Pelosi's, Chuch Schumers and Maxine Waters of the world.

VisionQuest's picture

I hear you loud and clear. It's a mess, no doubt. But where there is life there is always hope for a better day. The homeschool movement is a definite ray of real hope.

The indoctrinated Leftist mass will be disappointed & discouraged when the promises of Big Government fail to come true.  The smug hubris of Leftism was on full display in their certainty of Hillary's victory over Trump. The failure of Leftism in the Election of 2016 is a micro- of Leftism's overall failure.

Leftism in all forms goes against the grain of natural reality. Those who subscribe to Leftist philosophy & ideology are essentially deluded. What they believe (so fervently) about life on earth is in direct contradiction to life itself. Leftism works only when the terror of Leftist totalitarian autocrats exceeds the willingness of oppressed people to die for their liberty. The death-threats of Leftist totalitarians are antithetical to the natural ways and promises of natural life.

The Left has produced a lot of genuinely ignorant people who don't know any better due to the Left's stranglehold on education and other cultural institutions. Brack Obama was the global Left's high-water in western civilization. Just as it came in with the Russian Bolshevik revolution in 1917, the tide of Leftism is now ebbing. They won't give up power without a big fight but they will naturally lose.

Hip2BSquare's picture

LOL the Regressive Left has lost the plot. The decades of their dis-education is coming around full circle to bite them all in the arse. For example, students demanding their own segregation on campuses. That ain't "progressive" lol.  They completely missed "the resistance", which was electing a non-politician as President. The regressives are the party of self-destruction, with members leaving in droves.

SummerSausage's picture

How are the regressives different from Sharia Islam?  They both prey on the weak minded by assuring them they victims and oppressed. They both teach hate and tribalism.  They both are intolerant of anything or anyone they don't control.  They both spread fear through violence and threats of violence against any who don't conform in thought and deed.

The left is a throw back to the most primitive styles of government where a handful of elites own the people.

aloha_snakbar's picture

LOL...recondite...

SummerSausage's picture

There are only 2 types of government

1. The government that owns the people

2. The government owned by the people

The left supports the first, rejecting and delegitimizing everything it doesn't contol.

The second is what makes the United States exceptional and made it great.  For 240 years we have kept this experiment alive.  The left, Sharia Islam, globalists hate and reject it, rewriting history to depict us as oppressors and imperialists rather than the most generous nation on earth, fighting for the liberty of others without payment.

Trump is not the empty suit Americans have become used to - requiring a President Whisperer to tell him what to belive. Despite the author's insistence that he is an easily manipulated empty vessel, Trump's actions in 4 contentious months have demonstrated he believes that goverment is owned by the people and is Making America Great Again.

nevertheless's picture

lol, that's funny, so just the left support the current system...

FYI, Trump is as much a part of the system as was Obama. It is a joke how many fall for the "it's the other who is the problem, never us, bull shit.

Had Trump locked clinton up, or not surrounded himself with Wall Street warmongers, but that is exactly what he did, then headed to Saudi Arabia and Israel to show his loyalty...But you keep telling yourself its the "left". Just because the media tells you something does not make it true, quite to the contrary.

Almost all the world’s economic and political problems revolve around the hegemony of a global corporate cartel, which is headquartered in the US because this is where their dominant military force resides. The US Constitution is therefore the “kingpin” of an all-inclusive global financial empire. These fictitious entities now own the USA and command its military infrastructure by virtue of the Federal Reserve Corporation, regulatory capture, MSM propaganda, and congressional lobbying.

The Founders had to fight a bloody Revolutionary War to win our right to incorporate as a nation – the USA. But then, for whatever reason, our Founders granted the greediest businessmen among them unrestricted corporate charters with enough potential capital & power to compete with the individual states, smaller sovereign nations, and eventually to buy out the USA itself. The only way The People can regain our sovereignty as a constitutional republic now is to severely curtail the privileges of any corporation doing business here. To remain sovereign we have to stop granting corporate charters to just any “suit” that comes along without fulfilling a defined social value in return. The "Divine Right Of Kings” should not apply to fictitious entities just because they are “Too Big To Fail”. We can't afford to privatize our Treasury to transnational banks anymore. Government must be held responsible only to the electorate, not fictitious entities; and banks must be held responsible to the government if we are ever to restore sanity, much less prosperity, to the world.

It was a loophole in our Constitution that allowed corporate charters to be so easily obtained that a swamp of corruption inevitably flooded our entire economic system. It is a swamp that can't be drained at this point because the Constitution doesn’t provide a drain. This 28th amendment is intended to install that drain so Congress can pull the plug ASAP. As a matter of political practicality we must rely on the Article 5 option to do this, for which the electorate will need overwhelming consensus beforehand. Seriously; an Article 5 Constitutional Convention is rapidly becoming our only sensible option.

This is what I think it will take to save the world; and nobody gets hurt: 28th Amendment

Corporations are not persons in any sense of the word and shall be granted only those rights and privileges that Congress deems necessary for the well-being of the People. Congress shall provide legislation defining the terms and conditions of corporate charters according to their purpose; which shall include, but are not limited to:

1, prohibitions against any corporation;

a, owning another corporation,

b, becoming economically indispensable or monopolistic, or

c, otherwise distorting the general economy;

2, prohibitions against any form of interference in the affairs of;

a, government,

b, education,

c, news media, or

d, healthcare, and

3, provisions for;

a, the auditing of standardized, current, and transparent account books, and

b, the establishment of a state and municipal-owned banking system

c, civil and criminal penalties to be suffered by corporate executives for violation of the terms of a corporate charter.
