Florida Sheriff Declares "This Is War!!", Tells Americans To Arm Up

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com,

A Florida Sheriff’s video, which urges civilians to arm themselves and prepare for war, is quickly making the rounds on social media.  But he has a point when one listens logically.  He warns that when a mass murderer strikes, the government won’t immediately be there to save you; it’ll be your job to save yourself.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted the controversial video message on Facebook Wednesday, two days after a deadly workplace shooting in nearby Orlando claimed the lives of five people.  The Florida sheriff urged citizens to arm themselves in self-defense saying “this is war.”

He doesn’t mean war in the sense that nukes will be flying, but the war against mass homicides and sociopaths who only seek the destruction of human life.

“What’s next is to fully understand that this is war, and you better be prepared to wage war to protect you, your family, and those around you if attacked,” he said. Ivey stressed that attackers rely on people running, hiding, and waiting for help, rather than fighting back.

And they will use guns, knives, bombs, and even trucks to kill innocents. “What they don’t count on is being attacked themselves, having to become defensive to save their own lives,” Ivey argued.

Become the first line of defense to prevent the loss of life, and protect yourselves and others.  That was the underlying message the sheriff sought to convey.

Ivey’s video is irritating anti-gun lobbyists and politicians who seem content with letting people die with a minimal chance of survival.  Ivey encouraged people to take self-defense classes and urged those with concealed weapons permits to carry their guns with them at all times. “No matter who you are or what your position is on guns, there’s no denying the fact that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun or a knife is an armed and well-prepared citizen or law enforcement officer,” Ivey said.  Ivey is simply stating the obvious.  Yet, he’s being called “controversial.”

Ivey’s being accused of “fear mongering” and riling up vigilantes for refusing to toe the line. As those in government, police included, continue to lean toward more gun control, (for everyone but themselves, of course) it’s becoming obvious that those in charge want us to suffer at the whims of the sociopathic mass murderers. Leonard Papania, the police chief in Gulfport, Mississippi, spoke out against weakening gun regulations to the New York Times, saying, “Do you want every incident on your street to escalate to acts of gun violence?”

Gun control is a sensitive issue for most, as the logical in society understand that gun ownership doesn’t make one a mass murdering homicidal maniac or terrorist.  But the emotional side of people inhibits their brain from understanding that a gun can be used in self-defense, and may even prevent the loss of innocent life. When guns become outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.  An old saying, but one the hoplophobes seem to continue to forget.

Wayne Ivey is my Sheriff.

I think I'll stick around here.

He is right about getting a sidearm and carrying it at all times.

I wish I could make it horseman, I'm sure it will be a blast.

We drove up to Chicago to visit one of my sons for the week. It's funny how I couldn't bring my gun up here, yet three times last night, as we slept with the windows open on the third floor, the sound of rapid fire rang out.

My son lives in Irving Park, north side of the city. Million dollar homes. The "good" side of town. I can't imagine what it must be like at nite in south Chicago.

Back home in Florida, where we can walk down the street with a gun on our side, the sound of gun fire in the nite is a rare thing.

If we handed everyone in Chicago a gun and said go defend yourself, after the dust settles, the psychos would mostly kill each other off, and the rest would be scared to assault anyone, knowing they'd likely end up eating led

I'm willing to bet this gathering is NOTinterrupted by any of the Soros backed lefties. They'll get their arses kicked to oblivion if that's the case. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing....

Good luck with the meeting.

The mayor of Kohl told every Deutscher, "Buy a bracelet, 'Do Not Rape me'" and accept the invaders.

“I really think that citizens should arm themselves against terrorists. And I honestly admit that I changed my mind, because previously I was against [citizens] having too many weapons. After these attacks, I don’t think so [anymore]”.

We may be related, or at least tribesmen.

That depends on its purpose.  Knives are the jack of all trades.  They're most often used as a tool.  You cut your steak and you open packages with them.  You open letters and cut twine on bales with them.   Have you ever accidentally cut yourself when using a knife as a simple tool?  Imagine if the knife were sharper next time you do.

Manthong's picture

geez..do you realize how great a sharp blade is scraping plaque off of teeth?

..and then pocket it to cut a bad throat or two.....

But Um…

If I am not mistaking, I am already there with storage...…

In fact, I would be surprised and amused if the sheriff  had moar weaponry in his department  than I do in the bunker.

I have battle-ready throwing knives and nun-chucks down there outside of the .50 stuff.

lol....most people are more of a danger to themselves than anyone else with a pair of nunchakus in hand

joe90's picture

Sharper the knife quicker the heal. Just close the cut as quick as you can and seal it. Next minute it's gone.

SubjectivObject's picture

I have found this to be true with sharp knife cuts to fingers/hand (some variation of construction work)

Got to be quick about it though; lotsa times used masking tape to hold things closed until I could get to better materials.

Nobody For President's picture

El Vaq - after 40 years on a homestead, and Army duty and woodworking before that, I've cut myself with knives before, and have the scars lt prove it, and there is no question in my mind (and the scars I bear) that it is better to cut yourself with a sharp blade than a dull one. I really thought everybody knew that.

Sharp blades (like X-Actos) cut clean and heal well. Dull blades leave bigger scars.

If You're going to be stabbed in the gut and your given the choice between a butter knife and a steak knife, which would cause the most damage?

STP's picture

The steak knife would penetrate much easier and quicker.  The rounded tip of the butter knife would take a lot more initial 'push' to penetrate the skin and muscle of the stomach or gut area, thus saving your strength and time for a second puncture with the steak knife.

What is it about Wayne Ivey's video that is controversial.

What he says is pure common sense and should be done by anyone who wants a gun and cares about their loved oves.

Wayne Ivey is a true patriot. It's too bad all cops don't share a similar opinion.

He is a Hero to me. I think most Cops are looking out for themselves. He is a real Cop.

I had a "Cop' testify against me years ago and he just fucking sat there and told lies, I went to Jail for Months and my Life was pretty much fucked.

Good Cop , Bad Cop, I guess.

Wayne Ivey is a Man. God Bless him and piss on the False witnesses.

Mine too, Down here on the bank of the St Sebastian River.  I've met Wayne a couple of times, good guy (for a cop) if a bit of an egomaniac.

If you like Wayne IVey, send him some campaign money or campaign for him.

Guaran-fucking-teed Mikey Bloomberg is going to come for him next election cycle.

Sheriff Ivey is 100% correct.

PaulDF's picture

Wayne is my Sheriff here in Brevard county too. I second his recommendations and emphasize that just owning firearms isn't enough. You need through training and regular practice if you want to have firearms in your home. If you aren't VERY comfortable with all aspects of weapons usage, and KNOWLEDGEABLE with the legal ramifications, then don't bother. Firearms are not toys, they are deadly weapons designed to protect you and neutralize threats. Make the commitment to be an effective and safe gun owner.

Bwana's picture

You are absolutely right. I can shoot a possible on a Bulls-Eye or B-27 target. I practice weekly. However other training is necessary. In our area we have a firm that offers various full day courses such as; Active Shooter, Home Invasion and various other courses that teach participants when and how to shoot dummies on a wire (moving targets) dummies with a hostage in your home.  In one course they brought in a well used car and we were trained in how to shoot out of the car and how to use various parts of the car as a shield while shooting. They make the situation as real as possible with plywood structures and furniture. One time we put on protective masks and sweat clothes and with air-soft pistols shot it out with the instructors in various simulated situations and areas such as offices, stores, restaurants and open spaces. I don't believe it is possible to over train. Much of self defense is when to shoot or not to shoot. And if you shoot don't shoot like a New York City cop. Two instances of their lack of ability made the headlines. In one instance two uniformed LEOs opened fire at about 15 feet on a criminal who was trying to get his pistol out. They fired 17 shots hitting 8 innocent bystanders before they hit and killed him. Just imagine the lawsuits. Another time they opened fire on an armed criminal who took off running. During the chase other officers got involved and it was a running gun battle. They missed the first 78 times and hit the man in the calf with the 79th shot and he gave up. Unfortunately their lousy marksmanship resulted in an innocent bystander being killed. We non LEOs are given permits for SELF DEFENSE and once we or the people around us are not in mortal danger we are required to cease any deadly action. I also suggest you get an insurance policy such as the ones offered by the USCCA and the NRA.

I used to live in this guys district. He was hugely popular. He is also completely correct. Most governments and police agencies prefer the serfs of their district to be unarmed and helpless, and therefore utterly dependent on them to show up whenever is convienent.

The guy in gulfport is what you get when you have a largely black populace electing a typical democrat. They don't want their people having moar guns, since they can't seem to stop shooting each other. Brevard county, FL is a white, very conservative area, although unfortunately migration from northern states threaten to undue that. Hence the great divergence in opinions.

greenskeeper carl's picture

You live in Ivey's area? We musta been pretty close until last year. Too bad.

Obama didn't lift a finger to stem the huge surge in Chicago murder rate in his own backyard where guns are already outlawed.

Tell me again that the government cares about protecting it's citizens.

Debt-Is-Not-Money's picture

True, but did this problem in Shitcago begin with OBama? But you're right - he didn't "lift a finger" to fix it. The only thing that govt wants to help us do is to die- the sooner the better!

At the time our Constitution was ratified the Founders created something that, to their knowledge, had never existed in human history- a middle class- that championed individual accomplishment and achievement. Ever since the opposition has worked tirelessly to undo what the Founders created. Many have gotten lazy and prefer to hire politicians to steal from our neighbors and transfer the funds to the FSA while the govt removes our means of self-defense.

As RWR said: The most fearsome words in the english language are "I'm from the government, and I'm here to h'ep you"!
