Meet DOJ's Rachel Brand: She'll Be A Russian Spy By Next Week

Tyler Durden's picture

Before this morning, most people in the United States had never heard of Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand.  But, an ABC story (which we covered here) suggesting that Acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein may have to recuse himself from overseeing Special Counsel Mueller's Russia probe, and that Brand would be the next inline to step into that position, changed all that.

So what do we know about Rachel Brand?  Well, we know 4 things with absolute certainty:

  1. She was appointed by the Trump administration and confirmed on May 18, 2017
  2. She is an active contributor to Republican campaigns
  3. Democrats hate her
  4. Therefore, by the transitive property, we also know with absolute certainty she is a Russian spy

This is how ABC described Brand:

As for Brand, she previously led the Justice Department's Office of Legal Policy, and she most recently served as a member of the government's Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. She graduated from Harvard Law School and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, according to the Justice Department.

Sessions recently said she "has proven herself to be a brilliant lawyer."

"She is also a dedicated public servant who is strongly committed to upholding the rule of law and our Constitution," he added.

Of course, a couple of quick internet searches revealed far more 'suspicious' discoveries...

First, Brand is clearly a Conservative and has been an active contributor to several Republican campaigns in recent years, including "Ted Cruz For President" and "Ted Cruz For Senate."

Moreover, Democrats hate her as evidenced by the fact that she was only confirmed in the Senate via a 52-46 vote along party lines...

...and Senator Elizabeth Warren's opposition speech in which Brand was "branded" as just another greedy capitalist:

“...has extensive experience, years of experience, fighting on behalf of the biggest and richest companies in the world.”

Finally, since Democrats have been hyper sensitive, in recent hearings, to the Acting Attorney General's authority to fire Special Counsel Mueller...

...an authority which could soon be passed to Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, it's only logical to conclude that Democrats and the Washington Post will spend the weekend telling you why Rachel Brand is most likely a Russian spy.

So, what's the over/under on how many days it takes Brand to recuse herself...two?  Four?

Indeed. I've called all my representatives both state and federal. Told them the same: Pull your head out of your ass and deal with budgets, etc. We're broke.

Means nothing to these idiots. Nothing at all. We are on auto-pilot as I have said many times in the past several years. The end game here, unfortunately, is civil war. Damn near unavoidable.

She's not bad. I'd hit it.

I wish her name wasn't Rachel, but she sounds like someone I could really learn to love.

If she clerked for Anthony Kennedy, she's got my vote of confidence.

... >>> "Meet DOJ's Rachel Brand ..."

... according to this 10-year-old article, Rachel Brand was Assistant Attorney General at the DoJ along with her husband Jonathan Cohn who is Assistant Deputy Attorney General ... and now, Rachel, appointed by Trump as Associate Attorney General ...

... "Okay, working at the U.S. Department of Justice may not be a party these days. But the recently announced, imminent departure of Assistant Attorney General Rachel L. Brand — her last day at the DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy is July 9 — had nothing to do with recent controversies (contrary to some insinuations).   As tout le monde in D.C. legal circles knows, the fabulous Brand — known to some as the Prom Queen — was planning to step down for some time. The reason? She and her husband, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Cohn, are expecting a baby boy next month."

>>> source:http://abovethelaw.com/2007/07/why-did-the-prom-queen-leave-the-party/?r...

... and on another site, it says:

... " ... "Is it possible to prevail against such heady competition? Well, yes -- if you happen to be Rachel Brand (AMK, OT 2002) and Jon Cohn (CT, OT 2000), this year's Prom King and Queen. Brand and Cohn are "an attractive and overachieving couple, if ever there was one," and "they are at the epicenter of conservative legal circles." (*)

At the tender age of 31, the "turbo-charged" Brand has already risen to the high post of Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General of OLP. She "knows how to work a room like no one else," and she is "incredibly blessed with abundant brains and beauty." As one UTR reader asks, presumably rhetorically, "How many DAAGs do you know with flawless skin? If the 'law' thing doesn't work out for Rachel -- in other words, if she's not a circuit judge by age 35 -- she can go be the next Noxzema girl!"

The "high-powered" Cohn, who is only 32, oversees immigration litigation around the country, as head of the DOJ's Office of Immigration Litigation (OIL). He is "the intellectual equal of Rachel -- and that's saying something!" He is also "quite cute," even if "not as stunningly good-looking as his wife." ... "

>>> source:http://underneaththeirrobes.blogs.com/main/2005/01/robing_room_rep.html ...

... (*) looks like the tag-team couple (Rachel Brand and Jon Cohn) might be well-qualified to get on Mueller's nerves ...

;)

I can't wait.
Since we already know that this shit's just set the stage for the next 4 years, that we should be rooting for Hillary to run in 2020.
Might be our true saving grace, ace in the hole.

Plus we send her a contribution, we're on record as being "one of "Them""

Papers!
Oh, but I'm one of Them
Oh, sorry sir.  Please have a nice day sir.

Listened to the whole Pocahontas thing.  Three non-specific innuendo charges against Brand, the rest of it is a poorly written, more-poorly delivered and oh-too-predictable diatribe against Trump.

Fuck you. Warren, you shitbag.  I hope Communists die horrible screeching deaths.  Right fucking now.

fourteen billion dollars.  i am glad to see rachel arrive on the scene, though her beginning government work via the bush administration and her religion rankle my zionist prejudices.  i hope i am wrong.

but more than that, much more, i hope that ms. brand gets the fbi to explain in granular detail and under oath, why they didn't investigate seth rich's murder and what is the protocol for "rebuffing" the fbi's evidentiary search in, especially, top profile national security cases (aka "the rooskies").

and more than that of course, but these two really puzzle me.

Stone is a genious film maker. I have not always agreed wth his political persuasions, but I know he is finally seeing thru the propaganda and realizes he was duped like many lefties with the bullshit from PRAVDA/MSM.

The film "Platoon" was not necessarily a war movie, it was a documentary of exactly what happened, how and why ! It was an expsoe' of how people react under extreme stimuli and circumstances. I think every American should re-watch this film under this perspective and realize what Taylor said and did at the end of the film. First, he was judge and jury when he killed Barnes, for good and valid reasons. Then his ending discourse as he was flying out to Deros, was an incredible message for all of us today as we are faced with that exact message. Very profound and prophetic conclusion. The man is a genious even if I do not agree with all of his poliitcs. But I am glad he is seeing his own shortcomings recently.

jeff, i admire your hope for justus, but unfortunatly nothing will come of this. rebublicans are part and parcel of the one party tyrannical ruling body commonly called the deep state. we only get privy to the out layers of this deeply inbedded crime syndicate. generations of power do not roll to a few do gooders that are willing to "fall on the sword". ask snowden. ask any of the ghosts of the"ultimate cunt's" path of death. these fuks play for real. the rest is showtyme on fox, cnn  to fill the minds of usefull dolts that run to the polls....

Fire Mueller now and his whole cadre of clowns.  We don't need three seasons of this disgusting reality show.

If Trump believes firing them would be a trigger for impeachment he has to realize that the whole purpose of Mueller's investigation is to trigger impeachment.  You lose just for fighting.  End it.

A Nanny Moose's picture

Rather than innuendo, think of it as projection by the comminists. It all begins to make sense.

nmewn's picture

Thats really the essence of it, they are master projectionists. Just look at where we are and the known-knowns...

1. The only "collusion" found in the 2016 election was the triumvirate of Debbie Wassername-Schultz & Hillary & Fake Nuuuz to defeat Burnie Marx.

2. The only "obstruction" was Lowrenta Lynch's directive to Comey to call a criminal investigation a matter, before she met privately, on an airport tarmac, without reporters to document the meeting, with the husband of the woman under criminal investigation, a week before that subordinate (Comey) decided to not refer charges against Hillary to Lowrenta for prosecution.

3. The only people found to be making lucrative business deals with Russians was in fact, millionaire Clinton Foundation donors and registered foreign agents like the Podesta brothers, one of whom just happened to be in charge of Hillary's campaign.

4. To top it off, THE ONLY ACTUAL CRIMES that are KNOWN to have been committed (ten year FELONY CRIMES by the way) is the unmasking & publicizing of names gained from FISA warrants. Those are actual, provable felony crimes. Crimes admitted complicity to by the Fake Nuuuz.

The questions that are not being asked are often the most important ones. What evidence was given to a FISA court that was rejected the first time and then, what evidence was given to a FISA court the second time and accepted AND who were the targets of those warrants? Comey says the warrant was on Carter Page but Flynns conversation happened the last of December 2016 and Carter Page was long gone by then.

There are a helluva lot more actual felonies that have been committed than we are being told and none of them done by Trump or his campaign.

mc888's picture

I wouldn't call them "master projectionists", more like they have a very limited choice of tools in the toolbox.

There is some projection here but don't overlook the coverup. Who do you call for a massive coverup? The guy that covered up 9/11.

Oldwood's picture

The miscalculation by progressives is their failure to take lessons from McCarthy. The overzealous prosecution of anything and everything that MIGHT be communist, numbed the senses of the public to any real subversive threat that communist's posed (and we now see as real). The left's constant irrational screed against foreign and corporate intervention in our politics and policy leaves the door inevitably wide open to it.

......er, maybe that IS their intent????

It's ALWAYS about burning down our (self)defenses. They would NEVER take us on in a fair fight of rational debate. They must convince us we are too stupid to defend ourselves or simply to corrupt to deserve survival.

Sinners begging for forgiveness.

What are the policy positions of the husband and wife team, with the baby, the Noxema whatever, the references to high school and the ability to work rooms of Establishment Swampians with equally high salaries, families to raise in style and global connections that help bolster careers at the top, but do not in any way help to increase the size of the American middle class?

Does the new appointee have a grasp on how policy issues affect real-life citizens, not just cliched groups, like "working families" and "working moms?" A lot of Trump voters do not fall into those categories. We have an absolute ton of people in government beating those drums. It is NOT increasing the shrinking middle class one bit.

One clue is the Ted Cruz connection, which is a conservative line of thinking. Otherwise. the personal-life characteristics sound very similar to other Washington power couples. No one should have their well cared-for skin held against them, though. It is good if Trump is hiring more conservatives. It kind of depends on what type, however.

Some conservatives are mostly grounded in theory. Some are street smart as well. Trump has some of those in his adminstration. Kellyanne Conway and Bannon seem to be that way. Long before the election, I saw enough of Kellyanne on C-SPAN to see that she understood the Deplorable issues, like the opposition to mass immigration and why people oppose it. And then, her polling company literature backed that up.

Most people are way more concerned with issues that affect them. I guess Trunp's rising polls suggest otherwise, because the recent news is focused on the effort by the MSM to subvert his career. But I think the issues are still what led people to actually vote. Anyone can answer a poll. You do not have to follow it up with the chore of actually voting.

Another fucking lawyer to save America.

There was a very Great man. His name was Julius Caesar. He was a great politician and outstanding general the human history ever known.

When the Roman Senate has ordered to Caesar to disband his army and report to the Senate, General Caesar has crossed Rubicon and appeared on the Senate floor with his legionaries.

He told to sitting Senators that he decides to appoint some of his officers to become new Senators. When Senators asked him by what Roman Law he justified his actions, Caesar replied: "I just changed the Roman Law". When senators asked Caesar: "How will we explain to Roman people these actions?" Caesar replied: "People of Rome trust my judgments!"

This was a very GREAT MAN, POLITICIAN, and GENERAL!
