Former CIA Director Calls For A Coup If Trump Fires Mueller

Tyler Durden's picture

In the most vocal opposition to president Donald Trump yet, former CIA Director John Brennan said that if the White House tries to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, government officials should refuse to follow the president orders, as they would be - in his view - “inconsistent” with the duties of the executive branch.

"I think it's the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry that out. I would just hope that this is not going to be a partisan issue. That Republicans, Democrats are going to see that the future of this government is at stake and something needs to be done for the good of the future," Brennan told CNN's Wolf Blitzer at the Aspen Security Forum, effectively calling for a coup against the president should Trump give the order to fire Mueller.

The exchange is 43 minutes into the clip below:

(Full transcript here)

Brennan appeared alongside his former colleague, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and both men who served in the Obama administration, told Blitzer they have total confidence in Mueller. "Absolutely. It was an inspired choice- they don't come any better, " Brennan said adding that "If Mueller is fired, I hope our elected reps will stand up and say enough is enough." Some have responded with questions where Brennan's devotion to the Constitution was in the aftermath of the events in Benghazi.

Falling back on his neocon roots, James Clapper, who has waged a long-running vendetta with Trump, once again warned about Russian interference in US affairs. When asked about the June 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort with a Russian lawyer and others, he responded: "I'm an old school, Cold War warrior and all that - so I have, there's truth in advertising, great suspicions about the Russians and what they do. A lot of this to me had kind of the standard textbook tradecraft long deployed by Russians. It would have been a really good idea maybe to have vetted whoever they were meeting with."

Clapper was also asked about Trump's comparison of the intelligence community to Nazi Germany. Clapper said he called the President-elect nine days before he left the Obama administration saying he "couldn't let that reference pass" and it was an insult to him, CIA Director John Brennan and the workforce. "That was a terrible, insulting affront, not just to me or John, we get paid the big bucks, but I'm talking about the rank and file, men and women, patriots and intelligence community -- that was completely inappropriate and over the top - I had to do something about it."

And so he did: on the call Clapper said Trump asked him to "to put out a statement rebutting the contents of the dossier which I couldn't and wouldn't do. It was kind of transactional" referring to a dossier that alleged ties between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russia. It was not clear if he wouldn't and couldn't do it because the contents were legitimate, in his view, or because the dossier is what started the whole "Russian collusion" narrative in the first place. Curiously, Clapper saw it as a favor to Trump not to issue a statement: Clapper was asked by Blitzer why he didn't put out a statement replying: "The whole point of the dossier by the way was we felt an obligation to warn him to alert him to the fact it was out there. That was the whole point."

It was not clear if James Comey, whose subsequent leak to the NYT led to the appointment of Mueller, would have applied the same reasoning when asked by Trump to rebut the dossier's contents.

Their fits have nothing to do with gender. It's all about the new world order globalism cart being turned over by Trump. Along the way all of their crimes are going to be exposed and that puts their way of life at risk bigly. Treason, sedition, etc. is all in the cards for these two. Their roles in supporting ISIS alone should get them both shot.

MsCreant's picture

Fair enough. I am the one who brought up gender. They are grown men though. No dignity.

Mscreant - I got your point they are whining like little bitches. Subtle bomardment of metrosexual culture will influence them too over time. Despite some  intellectual prowess.

My opinion is most woman dont want a confused identity. If your gay your gay. But if straight act like a man.

That doesnt mean rule of thumb or John Wayne or Rambo eifher. Of course a lot men out of work which may mean loss of respect to a woman or raked over the coals by the legal system are not pissed. They should be. But focus on cause, not just effect.

If your on ZH and stick around as a lady, well your the marrying type to me. Whats a real man? Do what you say and dont just whine, do something constructve. That could be near any job, working around the house or charity. Whine and bad actions just make a man unrespectable. My take anyways.

My wife tells me "your such an asshole" as she slaps my shoulder and laughs when she is being unreasonable and I say NO! I am not perfect but she knows I will go to the very gates of hell for her.

You sound like a great couple. Head strong, honest with each other, and you know how to have fun. You respect each other too it sounds like.

My husband and I talk about how we both bring out the best in each other. He's great and challenges me to be my best self, a better one than I would be without him. That is when you know you are in something good. And he does set boundaries with me and he won't take shit. I like that.

You are on to something. I have been a member of a bicycle club. Had a guy say he knew where he was going, wanted to show us a new route. He didn't know shit, got us lost, got hurt himself and he would not admit he was wrong. I can't tell you how angry that made me. He was forever a pussy (is that bad?) in my eyes after that. Had the same thing happen to me with an old boyfriend on a canoe trip, claimed he knew what he was doing and everything screwed up because he had no idea what he was doing (he took us out the day after a very major storm). I was enraged, things got bad on that trip (I admit I was no help myself that day). Integrity means knowing when you don't know and when you do. Meanwhile, I should be mad at a woman if she did the same, but if I am honest, I would be just annoyed probably. When men take on leadership they don't deserve, I get angry because I thought I could relax, when I should not have.  Also when they do it, they preen like idiots. Gets under my skin.

There are good men and women on this web site, one of the reasons I lurk and post. Thanks.

Exactly right.  They get very triggered by the least little thing.  A continuous state of triggered outrage allows them to avoid any tendency to reasonableness.  If you keep up the tension long enough you can persuade a crowd to take leave of their reasoning faculties and follow you.

Women should not be involved in politics...not because they are bad people, but because they are (most of them) good women. And women are more giving, trusting and submissive than men,...bad qualities in political leaders. Women have submitted to the jews much more than men have...witness their few numbers on this site and others like it.

First fire Sessions... they guy has no balls.

Then have the new AG indict both Brennan and Clapper, Hillary and Bubba, Rice and Samantha, Rhodes and Podesta... Comey, and Wasserman-Shits and her Pakistani shitbags for a START.

Ask the Supremes to rule on conflicts of interest of Maggot Mueller, then fire HIS corrupt ass.

artichoke's picture

No!  If Sessions is fired, then Rosenstein is running the whole DOJ until a successor is confirmed.  And that successor will be neutered in the confirmation process (Will you promise to assist and not terminate Mueller's mandate?) or he won't get confirmed.

chubbar's picture

Fire Rosenstein first and make sure he is replaced by a pitbull, then fire Sessions as he is worthless.

I'm behind Trump but he should have put Sheriff Clark in as F.B.I. director. The arrests would have been immediate. If acting director [concerning the Executive branch issues] and NWO dong, Rod Rosenstein gets wacked, Rachael Brand  (#3) will have effective control of Justice. She has conservative credentials and word is, she ain't bad...

We are coming to a flashpoint.

Dilluminati's picture

I think you can resign or carry out a lawful order?

That is allot of grey area that is being discussed and the essentially open threat to refuse to perfom atcs of governance is similar to the gal who refused to marry gay people.

If the acting or Attorney General fires the guy for cause, well he is fired.  Then the House judiciary Committee can write articles of impeachment for that activity under obstruction of justice.

According to those regulations, a special counsel “may be disciplined or removed from office only by the personal action of the Attorney General” (or in this case, the acting attorney general). And Rosenstein can’t just do it on a whim, either. According to the regulation, special counsel can only be removed “for misconduct, dereliction of duty, incapacity, conflict of interest, or for other good cause, including violation of Departmental policies.”

In a Senate hearing on June 13, Rosenstein said he alone exercises firing authority, and that he had not seen any evidence of good cause for firing Mueller.

“It’s certainly theoretically possible that the attorney general could fire him, but that’s the only person who has authority to fire him,” Rosenstein said. “And in fact, the chain of command for the special counsel is only directly to the attorney general, in this case the acting attorney general.”

In a House hearing that same day, Rosenstein again said that the decision to fire Mueller was his, and that he would not be swayed even if Trump ordered him to fire Mueller.

One area where I have always drawn the line is crossing the rubicon, now to be sure I'd resign before I carried out an act I did not agree with, or enter into employment inconsistent with my beliefs, but to just say that I could nullify due process becasue I disagreed?  On that disagreement alone?  There needs to be quite a few caveats with that statement.

The assumption you just make up the conditions of your employment?  That sounds like Kim Davis and her belief that she, or Isis, or some other fucking belief was greater than the law itself, a bad precedent when Comey was the source of the leaks??

I blame the Democrats for this entire shitstorm, they didn't run Biden or draft Biden and tried to impose the Clinton Crime Family upon America and we just knew that those two Bill and Hillary were fucking crooks and said HELLL NOOO and that was a legitimate election.

On "violation of Departmental policies" see Comey and his leak

On that basis I almost see reason to fire Mueller if he in any "way or manner knew of the leaked memo"

artichoke's picture

So ... fire Rosenstein.   There's certainly enough reason.  For one thing he's a political holdover, which is enough.  For another he showed bizarre judgment, first writing a persuasive essay about why Comey should be fired, then saying Trump was terrible when he did it.

Who has the authority to fire Mueller after Rosenstein is out of the way?

Dilluminati's picture

I don't know where this is heading but the guys in the video didn't call for a coup, and the wording wasn't well stated either.  My objection with the process was the unmasking and the leaks from Comey, there had better be some real there-there to substantiate that activity.  If not?  Then the cocksuckers need to go to jail.  But you don't decide which laws to politcally uphold or ignore, you make an oath to uphold the law, not interpret it which is what the Supreme courts jobs is.  Now to be sure the AG can be replaced with someone who can fire Mueller, but that if it warrants the charge, if there is no substance to the midconduct or unprofessional handling of the office of special prosecutor can result in again Congress writing articles of impeachment.

Bill Clinton fired FBI Director William Sessions in 1993, and he didn't like Janet Reno.

Morris said Clinton wanted to drop Reno after his first term in office but Reno threatened to tell the media that it was Clinton, not she, who ordered the raid on the compound in Waco that ended with 76 men, women, and children killed when the building was burned to the ground.

"Reno threatened the president with telling the truth about Waco, and that caused the president to back down," he said.

"Then he went into a meeting with her, and he told me that she begged and pleaded, saying that . . . she didn't want to be fired because if she were fired it would look like he was firing her over Waco," Morris said. "And I knew that what that meant was that she would tell the truth about what happened in Waco.

And it was the Clinton Crime Family and "I didn't have sex with that women", I just shoved my penis in her mouth and blew a fucking wad of Jism down her chin and onto her blue dress which she took home and kept under her bed, "I didn't have sex with that women" I just shoved a cigar up her twat as she sat on my desk, nope no sex from me.. not the Clinton Crime Family, no sirrreee!

(272) At one point, the President inserted a cigar into Ms. Lewinsky's vagina, then put the cigar in his mouth and said: "It tastes good."(273)

And then there was Marc Rich

And then there was Haiti

These democrats better have some "there-there" and plenty of it or there is going to be one hell of an ugly 2018 election, and to insinuate that we voted against that ridiculous cunt Hillary becasue of the Russians is the largest fake news story of the century and going to piss of allot of flyover America, like in don't bother fucking visiting, because we do know wtf the Clinton's were and how damn fast they closed their foundation after the election, we know them well.

All Americans need to recognize the CIA's founder, a papal knight, "Wild Bill" Donovan only recruited for his CIA startup at Roman Catholic schools.

They and the FBI are run by conformed papists, conformed to the satanic pedo homo Anti-Christ we came to America, the biblically prophesied "Zion," in express covenant with the Creator, God Almighty, to escape.

Traitor Brennan was raised Roman Catholic and is just pretending to be of Sodom and Gomorrah's "Islam." Pompeo may also be pretending to be Protestant, a servant of the Anti-Christ's Beast of (((Gog))) and Babylon Fifth Column.

Nor Lynch, Comey, Lerner, Podesta, or countless other swamp creatures. Sometimes I think that just enough truth is put out there to rile the intelligent conservatives, but on purpose no effective counterpunch from Trump (to heat the political climate to a boil with no real justice being served ON PURPOSE), while the deep state players to lay the groundwork for another civil war here in the US. If you can, check out Mike Adam's "The Health Ranger" piece on how this logic defying push of the corporate media is done on purpose to undermine the reasoning capacity of the masses, training them to follow a predetermined agenda without putting 2and2 together, much like Hitler's use of propaganda that trained the Germans to believe that Jews were inhuman despite Germany's having been one of the world's great intellectual and cultural gems just a few years before.

Sad that Bill Casey got suicided before the CIA-Mossad 9/11 Coup that destroyed

all IRS, SEC, Military Intelligence and Congressional investigation records in WTC7,

and in the new Pentagon Annex, a miracle, then destroyed both of the biggest bond

brokers in NYC, hitting directly under their offices in WT1 and WT2, another miracle!

Then $240B in fresh, bleached US Treasury bonds magically appeared in CIA vaults!

God surely blesses New Israel with harsh vexes and tribulations for the UnBelievers.

I think Bill would've liked to see his Iran-Contra Tree of Liberty bear such satanic fruit,

and I'm sure, on the whole, John Brennan thinks that OEF was worth it, yes.

Both NASA and Thiokol engineers had recommended the launch be delayed.  But Reagan's handlers

Chernobyl knocked the House hearings right off the map and they were cancelled.
