US Air Force To Test Launch ICBM From California Tonight

Tyler Durden's picture

Tonight the U.S. Air Force will test launch an unarmed Minuteman 3 intercontinental ballistic missile California, its fourth such test in 2017.  The 30th Space Wing says the missile was to be launched between 12:01 a.m. and 6:01 a.m. Wednesday from Vandenberg Air Force Base, located 130 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

In a statement, Vandenberg base said the test would show the "effectiveness, readiness, and accuracy" of the weapon system.

Col. Michael Hough, 30th Space Wing commander, is the launch decision authority. "Team V is postured to work with Air Force Global Strike Command to test launch the Minuteman III missile," said Hough. "Our long history in partnering with the men and women of the 576th Flight Test Squadron shows that the Western Range stands ready and able to create a safe launch environment."

The 576th Flight Test Squadron will be responsible for installed tracking, telemetry, and command destruct systems on the missile.

While Minuteman missiles are regularly tested with launches from Vandenberg that send unarmed re-entry vehicles 4,200 miles (6,800 kilometers) across the Pacific to a target area at Kwajalein Atoll, the latest U.S. launches come amid tensions with North Korea as that nation develops its own ICBMs.

According to military analysts, who analyzed North Korea's latest, 2nd in one month ICBM test, a broad part of the mainland United States, including Los Angeles and Chicago, is now in range of Pyongyang’s weapons. In response to last Friday's launch, the U.S. Air Force flew two B-1 bombers over the Korean Peninsula on Sunday in a show of force. The U.S. also said it conducted a successful test of a missile defense system located in Alaska.

Speaking to repoters, on Tuesday afternoon Rex Tillerson said that the US is not seeking regime change in North Korea, adding " we are not your enemy", although he conceded that the US is seeking to apply "peaceful pressure" on the Kim regime. He also clarified that the US does not blame China for the situation in North Korea, but wants it to use its economic leverage on Pyongyang. From Reuters:

  • U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE TILLERSON SAYS U.S. IS SEEKING TO APPLY "PEACEFUL PRESSURE" ON NORTH KOREA, SAYS OPTIONS ARE LIMITED
  • U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE TILLERSON SAYS U.S. DOES NOT BLAME CHINA FOR SITUATION IN NORTH KOREA, BUT WANTS IT TO USE ECONOMIC INFLUENCE ON PYONGYANG
  • TILLERSON SAYS U.S. DOES NOT SEEK REGIME CHANGE IN NORTH KOREA, "WE ARE NOT YOUR ENEMY"
  • TILLERSON SAYS WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A DIALOGUE WITH NORTH KOREA AT SOME POINT
  • TILLERSON SAYS U.S. AT PIVOT POINT IN RELATIONSHIP WITH CHINA, LOOKING AT HOW TO DEFINE RELATIONSHIP IN FUTURE

Previous Minuteman ICBM launches this year were conducted in February, April and May. That month, the Air Force also conducted a test of a missile interceptor launched from Vandenberg which destroyed a mock warhead over the Pacific.

NO!! We're a Constitutional Republic. Or, we're supposed to be anyway. But, yes, the masses have been brainwashed to think we're a democracy.

Roughly 50 years ago we sent a man to the moon, with technology analogous to putting cements wheels on a Porsche and sending it to the race track. Five decades later we haven’t returned, instead sending some shuttles into orbit, blowing up a couple of them in the process, because someone wanted to save a nickel (literally) on a couple of rubber O-rings. It’s mind boggling to me that with the technology available to us today (my cell phone has more computing power, than all of Nasa back in 1969), we haven’t colonized the Moon and half the solar system by now. Instead, we spend trillions removing tin-pot dictators (killing millions in the process), building fighter jets that crash more frequently than my portfolio, and testing missiles in an attempt to intimidate yet another tin-pot dictator, who we could mollify simply by sending him a couple of Kardashians (a win/win if you ask me).

If we don’t get off this rock, and soon, humanity will be another footnote in the biological record of planet Earth. Another in a long list of species (99.9999%) that have gone extinct.

It's that God damned (literally) dome that is impossible to penetrate. They tried nukes in the 60s but no go.

If we as a species can't do better than what we are becoming it can't happen too soon.  Mother Earth can give another species a shot ...

Expect a NK retaliation right after they determine it's headed their way. That could be 5 seconds after launch.

Waiting a week to demonstrate "effectiveness  & readiness" is weak.   We'd all be deceased before retaliation.

Russia, China, US ... this looks like 'The Guns of August', 100 years later.

Maybe it will only contain Dennis Rodman action figures and they'll drop it right on Kim's bountiful head....you know, to send a message.

"US Air Force To Test Launch ICBM From California Tonight"

They're not supposed to do that.  North Korea did that last week and got shit for it.  I don't think launching ICBMs is allowed.

Everyone knows the North Korean dynasty is coming to an end.

Todays world simply has no room or tolerance for these kinds of nations, the gap is growing rapidly, North Korea can try and emulate the west as much as it wants, it will never keep up and eventually internal pressure on its own will force regime change.

Sharpening our swords and taking our guns to the firing range and making sure they are sighted in is good defensive response to NK.

So, good on you for testing bombers and ICBMs. This is Americas defense against NK. It exists and is plenty.

Preemptive strikes are prima facia immoral war crimes. If we find out the imminent threat was fake or some lame excuse like wmds or they don't let their girls go to school or whatever, then we need to round up and put on trial convict and hang our own war criminals. We cannot grant our own leaders blanket immunity. America does not work that way. We cannot have liberty and justice unless it is "for all" including our leaders and our so called news outlets.

I'm pretty sure the Norks know that our missiles work.  Launching ours will neither deter them from launching theirs nor instill fear.  Washington's history of toppling governments based on lies pretty much have convinced the World that nuclear weapons is the only way to stave off invasions.  There shouldn't be any confusion on why the World is dumping the US dollar for trade.

The Air Force has a new toy and they want to play with North Korea. Same story, different year.

We test them so that we know they work.

"this war" Ha! Deep state wishes. Deep state knows deep down that the next war will be the US vs Deep state traitors themselves. Give up now deep state.

300% increase in Shark attacks in Hawaii since Fukushima

I have seen others, let's call them Shark Apologists, pretending that there is no increase in shark attacks.   Or pretending that the increase can be explained 100% by more people in the water.

I would say 90% of the increase can be explained by destruction of the Pacific food chain.

HMMM.

The 'Minuteman-III'.

The last production was 39 years ago. REALLY? YES:

http://www.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/104466/lgm-30g-mi...

Talked to, um, 'someone' about the back-channels regarding the SALT II treaty, just a couple of weeks ago (coincidentally). It IS a 'MIRV' ('multiple indepent re-entry vehicle'), you know. I always was led to believe that it was equipped with TWELVE indepententally-targeted thermonuclear warheads in the low-megatonnage/high kilotonnage range (a figure that may be incorrect, by the way). CONUS still claims to have 'only' 450 of these, that are fully operational (as per the link).

FUCK.

The USSR had a bunch more, and CHINA... well, we won't talk about THEM.

India, Pakistan, France, Isreal (SHH...they don't have ANY...), and that short, fat ASSFUCKING QUEERBOI with a shitty bowlcut named KIM (for fuck sakes)...

That parapeligic brain-cancerous traitor to his nation McFUCKstain is whipping up shit about IRAN 'maybe' getting a nuke in (for over 40 years) the next few months...

If all the nuclear weapons stockpiles were detonated in one particular place on Earth, it would send the Earth out of the orbit of the Sun, and also cause a 'doomsday machine' type destruction of this planet (at the same time).

I mean, if FUKUSHIMA poisoning the Pacific Ocean of Earth in a SLOW and PAINFUL DEATH isn't enough, let's all test out our missile stockpiles!

FUCK!

It's MASS MADNESS on a scale never imagined in the history of this planet!

I wonder what happened to MARS.

FUCK...

TMI?

I read the artice and listened to THIS:

I had my view all picked out... do you have any popcorn?

Some of the comments really make me think that we are going to get what we deserve (as a race).

Scott out.

Is it a test, or is the US going to nuke Korea?

Russia and China should prepare to launch a full scale retaliatory attack.
