FEMA Chief, Miami Beach Mayor Warn: "Get Out Now, This Is A Devastating, Nuclear Hurricane"

Tyler Durden's picture

After laying waste to the Northern Caribbean and leaving most of bankrupt Puerto Rico without power - perhaps for months - Hurricane Irma, still a category five storm, is expected to make landfall near Miami this weekend. Florida Gov. Rick Scott has already declared a state of emergency, and last night more than 100,000 Miami-Dade residents in Miami Beach and low-lying mainland areas were instructed to leave their homes by Miami Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who issued his first evacuation order.

Now, FEMA Chief Brock Long says that the storm will have a "truly devastating" impact when it slams into southern coastal areas of the US, adding that people in Florida and other states must heed evacuation orders after the storm killed more than 10 people in the Caribbean.

The FEMA chief said Irma would be only the fourth Category Five hurricane to hit the United States since 19851, conjuring memories of Hurricane Andrew, which demolished parts of Florida in 1992.

"Bottom line is the majority of people along the coast have never experienced a major hurricane like this. It will be truly devastating," he told CNN.

While mandatory evacuation orders have so far only been issued in parts of Florida, Brock expects similar orders to be issued for Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina within the next 48 hours, Long said: "The entire southeastern United States better wake up and pay attention," he added.

The mayor of Miami Beach Philip Levine also warned that Irma could have an impact of "nuclear" proportions, though it was unclear if he was referring to the two nuclear power plants that lie directly in the path of the hurricane.

“We have talked to people in your city who say, ‘We ain’t going,’” CBS4’s Hank Tester told Levine. “I hate to hear that. I’ll do anything in my power to convince them this is a very serious storm. This is a nuclear hurricane. They should leave the beach, they must leave the beach."

"As you know, as of yesterday, I have been telling our residents I strongly urge they please leave Miami Beach. You have friends, you have family – go visit them,” Levine said. “Get out of the barrier island and I am very happy Mayor Gimenez issue the mandatory evacuation early this evening.”

The storm is massive and already doing catastrophic damage to several island nations, Levine said.

“This storm will envelope us whether it is off shore or on shore. It won’t make a difference,” Levine said.

As weather forecaster Michael Ventrice noted on Twitter, Miami remains the most likely major city to experience hurricane-force winds because of Irma.

Long, whose agency is still busy with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, which hit Texas and Louisiana last month, said around 3,000 federal workers have been mobilized to deal with the emergency. A Harvey relief bill has passed the House, and looks to soon become law after Trump made a deal with Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. Otherwise, the agency risks running out of funding by the end of the week. Three navy ships are also anchored off the coast of Puerto Rico "to support life-saving missions,” Long said, although there have so far been no reports of major damage after Irma swept over the island on Wednesday night.

Floridians who are fleeing Miami-Dade, Broward County, Palm Beach and elsewhere were finding highways and backstreets transformed into parking lots as the scramble to get out of the path of the storm creates epic traffic bottlenecks.

Meanwhile, supplies of water, gas and other necessities were running out as residents stocked up...

A nuclear hurricane?  They didn't try to shoot one at it did they?

And yet they're still on the beach:

My advice: If you hear Cuban music, swim the other direction.

Dear Leader Obama will be posting to his Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts about how cruel Trump is for doing this hurricane to our vulnerable seniors.

This is true white supremacist, Nazi, stuff. Or so I'm told.

Get Out Now, This Is A Devastating, Nuclear Hurricane

Those are very carefully chosen words – if the nuclear plants go BOOM, they wanna cover their asses: “I told you so.” Fuckers!

"The FEMA chief said Irma would be only the fourth Category Five hurricane to hit the United States since 19851."

Wow. That's a long time. Is this the year 19851 B.C? Over 21,000 years.

Sorry, dude, but I just wanted to lock the “since 19851” in.   ;-)

All the proven technical models point to a breakout at 82W, with plenty of support down around Cuba, leading to a short to mid term target of Houston.

Record-Setting Hurricanes; Record-Setting Wildfires; Record temperatures; ya think it might be global warming?

So, why is the global rise in temperatures so worrisome?

For one thing, as temperatures rise good farmland will become desert (e.g., dust-bowl conditions will probably return to the American Midwest).

Another major problem is sea-level rise.

Have a look at http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/fs2-00/

The U.S. Geological Survey people claim that;

The Greenland ice sheet melting will raise sea-level 6.55 meters (21.5 feet),
the West Antarctica ice sheet melting will raise sea-level 8.06 meters (26.4 feet),
the East Antarctica ice sheet melting will raise sea-level 64.8 meters (212.6 feet),
and all other ice melting will raise sea-level 0.91 meters (3 feet).

For a grand total of about 80 meters (263 feet).

So, what does an 80 meter (263 feet) rise in sea-level mean. Have a look at the following map of the world after an 80 meter rise. It means that over one billion people will have to be resettled to higher ground and that much of the most productive agricultural land will be under water. Fortunately, at current rates, the Greenland ice sheet will take over a thousand years to melt and the Antarctica ice sheet, much longer. However, the greater the temperature rise the faster the ice sheets will melt, bringing the problem much closer. Remember, the huge ice sheet that recently covered much of North America, almost completely melted in only 15,000 years (today, only the Greenland ice sheet, and some other small patches of it, remain). Since then (15,000 years ago), sea-levels have risen about 125 meters (410 feet), only 80 meters to go.

The ice sheets have been continuously melting for thousands of years. What is left of them today, is still melting, and will continue to melt. Human caused global warning will cause this remnant to melt significantly faster. This is a big, big, problem.

For HUGE detailed maps of the "World after the Melt" go to:

Global temperatures are increasing. And by quite a lot each year.

2016 is the hottest year on record for global temperatures.

This is 0.0380 degrees centigrade hotter than the previous record year which was 2015.

0.0380 is a large increase in just one year.

2015 was the hottest year (at that time) for global temperatures.

This was 0.1601 degrees hotter than the previous record year which was 2014.

0.1601 is an absolutely huge increase in just one year (at this rate temperatures would increase by 16 degrees in a century).

2014 was the hottest year (at that time) for global temperatures.

This was 0.0402 degrees hotter than the previous record year which was 2010.

The conspiracy to hide global warming data.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is given tax money to make global temperature records available to the public. However, certain people at NOAA continually sabotage this aspect of NOAA's mandate. For example, these people have (deliberately) sabotaged the web-page that delivers the temperature records.

Look for yourself:

Go to the page: https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/monitoring-references/faq/anomalies.php scroll down to the The Global Anomalies and Index Data section and click the download button and see what happens. Well, you get the message:

"Not Found. The requested URL /monitoring-references/faq/anomalies-download was not found on this server."

I guess that the 2017 data must be truly horrible if they have to hide it away.

It turns out that this seems to be the case; NASA reports that:

July 2017 had the hottest average land temperatures on record.

The new July 2017 record was +1.20 degrees centigrade above the 20th century average (of the July data). The previous record average land temperature for July was just last year. It was +1.10 degrees above the 20th century average.

Did the media bother to tell you about this? No!

I'm pretty sure the storm surge in Atlanta will be negligible, still she is expecting some inclement weather.

As a side note out here in the SF Bay we have been experiencing what we old timers call "Earthquake weather". Boy wouldn't that be a co-inky-dink if the big one hits, and yes we are way past due.

Why haven't you left this incredibly scary place called planet Earth with its terrifying climate that can only be controlled via high taxes and government control of people's lives?

BTW - What is the correct tax rate to keep Earth at today's climate? Is there some type of PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) tax algorithm that will keep climate fluctuations to a minimum?

greenskeeper carl's picture

Thats the quadrillion dollar question right there. This nonsense is just another scheme to skim more wealth off the average western citizen and move it upwards. Nothing more. Any 'problem' that its proponents claim can only be solved by drastically increasing taxes is nothing but a wealth redistribution scheme. Western liberals seem to think this will just mean a slightly lower standard of living and energy usage, what they don't seem to understand is that 'slightly lower' standard of living our rulers have in mind for us probably resembles Calcutta.

mtl4's picture

Those taxes preventing global warming are called carbon credits and only GoldSach or other Clinton Foundation donors will be allowed to create them from thin air.

Slacker, inconvenient truth alert:

Ocean surface area = 360E6 km2.  Antartic ice sheet volume = 26.5E3 km3.  If the ENTIRE antartic ice sheet MELTED it would raise sea level ~ 70m.

However...truth alert...NASA determined the Antartic Ice sheet is GAINING mass, not losing mass.  Oh no!

So you and Al Gore can keep dreaming of wealth distribution, supranational authrities with their binding laws, and of course the IJ with their hand in the middle of the carbon credit exchanges, but we aint gonna never see an 80m sea rise.  Never Ever!

Und...the perimiter is shrinking more slowly, but the depth and overall mass is increasing more rapidly....Sounds like typical negative feedback of the natural earth climate control is in effect.  And we're past peak temp.  Winter is coming.

Gorgeous @ Sep 7, 2017 2:04 PM "but we aint gonna never see an 80m sea rise. Never Ever!"

Pity you can't read.

Since the end of the ice age (15,000 years ago), sea-levels have risen about 125 meters (410 feet), only 80 meters to go.

But there will never be a rise of 80m sea rise. Never Ever!

A couple of points: firstly, if you ever get to leave the USA, take a  trip to Pompeii, where there is an extensive seaside dock comp!ex. You can't actually see the sea from Pompeii, because the coast is something like 10km f on where the docks are - 2000 years makes quite a dfference (not a comment on sea levels rising or falling, just that things change).

Secondly, about sea level rising at Tampa. Wait until Saturday, and let me know your thoughts.

Tiwin's picture

Pompeii...volcano...geology....More likely the ground itself has moved While Mt. whateverits called recharges for another blow.

I am saying it is a fact that the water at the seawall at my childhood home is exactly where it was in the mid 1960s.

Case Closed. Absolutely nothing you or anyone else can say or no official or scholarly document can change that FACT.

As far as Saturday goes, no thanks i will be out here in the sticks far from the cesspools that modern American cities have become.

btw Tampa will be on the left side of the eye and will likely not get anything past a normal thunderstorm-unless the track shifts more westward.

Yes, and that sea level rise 15,000 years ago happened over the course of about 2-3 weeks. You read that right. The sea just rose 400' in 3 weeks.

"How" you ask. Well, At the time the North American continent was covered by an ice sheet a mile thick. Temperatures were thawing it slowly, then Earth got smacked by a comet almost a mile wide in the middle of the ice sheet. The ice melted, raised sea levels 400 feet in a matter of days. Then it caused a temperature dip in ocean temps (from the icy water) that took decades to normalize.

Do an Internet search on the "Younger Dryas comet impact". There is plenty of peer-reviewed data that supports this.

So, if you're worried about catastrophic impact to human life on this planet, we should be working on planetary detection and defense from comets and large meteors. We just happen to be flying through that same bit of space right now as when we got hit by this big bastard between 15 and 20 thousand years ago.

Nature changes. Collecting more taxes to prevent this won't do shit.

And if you can't do anything about it, you're first reaction of blaming others for it is just an idiotic reaction.

REALITY CHECK    http://www.climatedepot.com/2015/07/06/nobel-prize-winning-scientist-who...

Global warming is very real as is Global cooling.  A few years one way a few years the other.

The FACTS speak for themselves.  The FUCKTARD GORE that actually got a Prize for the best bullshit Documentary that was believed has claimed that we would have had Sea Level increases of 20 feet by now.

Oddly one of the places he selected actually has more beachfront now then when he published the report over 15 years ago.

WAKE UP and see the real deal.  This is the same story with thinking Republicans can save us but Democrats will fuck us.  IT DOES NOT MATTER.  There is but one group and its a game they play that most of them think is real but those on top know its all a facade.

We are under the same Rule as we were in 1700.  The QUEEN is the top dog.   Here group of Satanic aliens need to be wiped out and then maybe we can try to create a world we can live peacefully in.  But that can only happen when you all drop these agenda's of hating people because of the color of their skin or what culture they believe in.

Its so simple yet we have all been brainwashed to believe otherwise.  New born babies need a completely different training experience then they currently receive.  One in which they learn that as a Human you have natural inate abilities to create your life.  This needs to be learned very early on in life, such as in the first few years.

Imagine if they did the research into how to teach LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.  Many of you are too COOL to relate but the true resolution to all the worlds woes are LOVE.

There is no question about this.  I am not a JESUS lover or religous in any way because it is spirituality that matters not some organized insanity.

Think about the way the media and Movies Games etc  and how violence is the big seller.  When you are surrounded by negativity and hate you end up with a world in turmoil.  LOVE simply destroys hate and negativity.

IMAGINE      Lennon said it very well.

Geoengineering_Genocide's picture

You don't need facts and figures.  Just go outside, feel how hot the sun is on your skin.  That's 10x the amount of UVB radiation that is "officially" getting through the ozone.  Plus a dash of UVC, which is one level below X-RAY.

Take four minutes right now to see the meter reading for yourself.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1yjlhti2AE

If you don't believe it, buy your own UV meter (set you back less than one ounce of gold) and conduct your own simple test.

In the end, it doesn't matter what you believe.  In the very near future, you won't be able to deny it any longer.
