The Truth About Nuclear Proliferation And North Korea

Tyler Durden's picture

The U.S. is communicating with North Korea about its nuclear program and testing Pyongyang’s appetite for negotiations, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in the first public acknowledgment by a senior administration official of direct contact on the matter. As Bloomberg reports,Tillerson, speaking to reporters on Saturday after meeting Chinese officials in Beijing, insisted that the U.S. would never accept a nuclear-armed North Korea.

His remarks offered the clearest glimpse so far into U.S. strategy, and suggested a willingness to get to the negotiating table with Kim Jong Un’s regime -- even after President Donald Trump tweeted in August that “talking is not the answer!”

“We are probing, so stay tuned,” Tillerson said.

“We can talk to them, we do talk to them directly, through our own channels,” adding that the U.S. has “a couple, three channels open to Pyongyang.”

All of which was 'good' news in a time when we need some. However, a few hours later, the State Department commented that...

"North Korean officials have shown no indication that they are interested in or are ready for talks regarding denuclearization."

And that, as Jim Rickards warns below, is why war is coming...

Authored by James Rickards via The Daily Reckoning,

I’ve been arguing for months that we are headed for war with North Korea because of its nuclear program.

This brings us to the topic of nuclear proliferation.

Nuclear proliferation of the kind we are seeing in North Korea is nothing new. The U.S., Soviet Union (now Russia), U.K. and France all had nuclear weapons by 1960. China joined the club in the mid-1960s.

India and Pakistan started becoming nuclear powers in the 1970s. Israel has never officially announced it has nuclear weapons, but it is well-known that Israel possesses them. At various times, South Africa, Brazil, Iran, Syria, Iraq and Libya have pursued nuclear weapons development.

The Iranian program is the only one of those that is still active.

Critics of any effort to attack North Korea to stop its nuclear weapons program point to this extensive proliferation over 60 years as a reason not to risk war.

According to these critics, the world has learned to live with eight nuclear powers. One more won’t matter. Deterrence works.

North Korea knows that if it uses nuclear weapons, it will be subject to a nuclear attack by the U.S., and therefore it won’t use them.

But this analysis is wrong on a number of levels.

The U.S. began its nuclear program to end World War II. The U.K., French, Russian and Chinese nuclear programs were part of a Great Power dynamic in the Cold War that does not apply to lesser powers like North Korea.

For the Great Powers, deterrence does work.

Israel’s program is a response to an existential threat from the Arabs (four large wars and many smaller ones in less than 70 years) and Israel’s lack of strategic depth. India and Pakistan are mutually hostile and their weapons are aimed at each other, not at the west.

North Korea is different because it continually threatens to use nuclear weapons on the U.S. and its allies, like Japan.

Deterrence does not work on Kim Jong Un. The North Korean leader will be safe in his nuclear bombproof bunker. He does not care about his people.

Kim’s threats involve actual nuclear missiles striking cities and a potential electromagnetic pulse weapon (EMP) detonated in the high atmosphere that produces a power surge that would destroy the U.S. power grid.

All communications, cellphones, computers, bank ATMs, debit and credit cards, gas station pumps and lights would be disabled. U.S. civilization would last about three days before food and water were depleted and society descended into rival gangs of looters and vigilantes.

That may sound paranoid or alarmist, but it’s not. It’s a legitimate possibility.

This is why North Korea will not be allowed to have nuclear weapons.

This is why war is coming.

The writer fails to mention that the zionist state was the aggressor in the wars.  They launched attacks and then claimed they had to preemptive strike for defense, and with their superior weapons given by "superpowers", they wrecked their neighbors.

He also fails to mention the Samson option, where if the zionist state appears to be falling, she would launch nuclear weapons against European capitals in some wild retaliation for imagined wrongs.

We Americans should also remember, that our "right to bear arms" is a natural right believed to be held by all men, given to us by our Creator.  It stems from the natural right to defend one's life, family, and property.  If you believe in such natural, God-given rights, then how can you deny the Koreans the same defense you believe you are entitled to?

It got posted here because Jim Rickards, at some point in the past, had more than his current tangential connection with reality and talked about things which were somehow related to investments or something. He has since either gone off the deep end of crackpottery or revealed that he suffers from chronic neoconstipation.

At various times, South Africa, Brazil, Iran, Syria, Iraq and Libya have pursued nuclear weapons development.

The Iranian program is the only one of those that is still active.

There has never been credible evidence of an Iranian nuclear weapon program. For what purpose does Rickards repeat this lie?

The U.S. began its nuclear program to end World War II.

Debatable. The actual use of nuclear weapons against Japan was to try to intimidate Stalin, because the US was scared shitless of the Red Army. That's why they refused Japan's repeated offers of surrender until a couple of cities could be vaporized.

Deterrence does not work on Kim Jong Un. The North Korean leader will be safe in his nuclear bombproof bunker. He does not care about his people.

Utter rubbish. The DPRK knows that deterrence works, which is the entire purpose of their nuclear weapons program.

Engdahl says Kim Jong Un is false opposition.

Engdahl says that Kim Jong Un lived in Switzerland from 1991 until 2000. He attended the Liebefeld Steinhölzli school in Köniz near Bern. The strongest hint that Kim Jong Un is a "Pentagon" puppet and not a communist (Chinese) puppet is that he had China's best friend in Pyongyang, Jang Sung-taek, executed. He also ordered the systematic execution of all other members of Jang's family including children and grandchildren (and others that were considered too close to China).

Other hints are that he is usefully (to the US) provocative and doesn't seem to listen to China.

Engdahl also thinks North Korea is an Pentagon Vassal State, but it seems more likely that Kim Jong Un is indeed a "Pentagon" man but that North Korea is (i.e., will be treated as) an enemy state.

https://journal-neo.org/2016/11/01/north-korea-is-an-pentagon-vassal-state/

Remember: The first rule for fighting a (real) war is to place your own puppet as the leader of the enemy.

Also, one should not forget that Trump, Obama, Bush and Clinton are all Jews.

Engdahl is over-analyzing, he is wrong (and i seriously doubt that Hitler was a double agent)

The title of the article is wrong, too. North Korea already HAS nuclear weapons, it is not a question of whether they will be allowed to have them.

The experts think that North Korea has between 30 to 60 nuclear weapons,

including thermonuclear weapons.

You want to see a nuclear weapon detonated near or in the US, go ahead, start a war.

"Deterrence does not work on Kim Jong Un. The North Korean leader will be safe in his nuclear bombproof bunker."

Bullshit. The only reason the US could/would go to war with North Korea is political cover for the "global finanical reset" targeting the US dollar. Period. The notion that Kim Jong Un would personally and politically survive a nuclear war with the US --and would therefore risk said war--is absurd.

"Debatable. The actual use of nuclear weapons against Japan was to try to intimidate Stalin, because the US was scared shitless of the Red Army. That's why they refused Japan's repeated offers of surrender until a couple of cities could be vaporized."

I disagree.  The Japanese were not agreeing to the terms demanded by the US and it's allies, unconditional surrender.  I believe the US dropped the two bombs to quickly end the war and prevent Russians from entering Japan and to keep Japan from becoming another divided country like Germany.

Honestly, the bitches had it coming.

Shemp 4 Victory's picture

As early as January 1945, Roosevelt was aware of multiple offers of surrender from the Japanese, the terms of whch were essentially the same as those accepted in September 1945.

On  January 20, 1945, two days prior to his departure for the Yalta meeting with Stalin and Churchill, President Roosevelt received a 40-page memorandum from General Douglas MacArthur outlining five separate surrender overtures from high-level Japanese officials. This memo showed that the Japanese were offering surrender terms virtually identical to the ones ultimately accepted by the Americans at the formal surrender ceremony on September 2 -- that is, complete surrender of everything but the person of the Emperor.

I just read an MSM article about one of the Navy carrier groups on whose last Mideast cruise some pilots downed an SU-22. They link a "spectacular" camera gun of the missiles taking down the Su-22.  If I am not mistaken I thought we (The US) was fighting ISIS who apparently has an air force  OR the Navy with their expensive Super Hornets bagged a Syrian Air Force plane who was fighting ISIS.  To my knowledge we were no invited to fly over Syria but rather Mr Obama decided it was his right to kill people fighting ISIS.  And we wonder why people in the world want nuclear weapons to protect themselves from US.

The Napoleons in DC have realigned. Must bring war to someone's street. This season it's NK, before that it looked more like Iran and Russia.

Bay Area Guy's picture

NK is simply more convenient at this time and, let's face it, Lil Kim is pretty much off his rocker.  One may hate Iran and/or Russia (among others that the US will eventually target), but neither the leader of Iran nor the leader of Russia is crazy.  It makes it easier to targer a nation with a boogeyman as the leader.  Which is the reason the neocons and their pals in the MSM are so avid about painting Putin as Adolf Hitler on steroids.  They haven't quite succeeded in getting people to believe that, so Plan B required a more amenable target.  Enter Lil Kim.

el buitre's picture

It takes two to tango.  If the little rocket man is crazy, what does it say about our Tweeter-in-Chief.  Xi and Putin are planting their faces in their hands in disbelief and disgust.

I agree, I have noticed how multiple anti war publications from none mainstream media sources are now all sounding like John Maccain agaisnt North Korea. NK has a right to defend itself and it's the US and the "West" who is bullying them. I don't like the NK regime but I feel this is all propaganda. Maybe this EMP attack is just a false flag to reset the US debt clock somehow. Maybe all this war talk is just BS to hide something bigger and to blame an insignificant country like theirs.

delacroix's picture

there is no emp that can knock the whole grid out. circuit breakers disconnect individual regions. and it would have to be so big, loss of electricity would be a moot point.

bigkahuna's picture

Who needs electricity when he has no skin - it would have to be some blast to affect a whole continent with emp strong enough to do widespread real damage.

I would be more concerned with the mess that a blast in space would make of the satellites. Try launching any spacecraft through a giant cloud of orbiting debris. NK could cause a big problem for all the countries with satellites - but as far as dooming us to armageddon - nope. Even if he took out the gps and it's time signal (which it would)- there are plenty of assets on the ground which can also supply time data.

Agreed,

North Korea understands that if it does not have nuclear weapons it will be regime changed by the USA, just ask Saddam Hussein, Mumamar Gadafi, Bashar Assad.

E5's picture

No place for this line of ignorance.

War is asymetrical.

We attack, and no one will know who detonated the other bombs in america and elsewhere.

We have already stoked the world opinion too much.  Any nuke goes off and people will wonder if it was NK, Sauds, Turkey, Israel, Russia, USA.... but it will be the South Africans and their gold will be back in business as the only trusted currency.

like i said, asymetrical war can only be stopped if you shut your trap and keep opinions 5x5.

Simple answer.  USA are the only kids allowed to make the rules and throw stones in the playground.  Nobody else gets to have a say.

Friggin idiots.  So tell me when USA USA wakes out of the stupor.  And actually defends it's constitution?  Yeah OK.  Black Friday is coming so it has to wait.

historian40's picture

Well, the Constitution hasn't truly been followed since it was abolished 151 years ago, and the Republic was replaced with a Federal Union with dominion over the States and We the People, and which took the sovereignty of the States and gave it to itself.

Immediately after the radicals overthrew the Republic, they instituted Federal education control in 1867.

While the States were still under military rule, and no Republican form of government was established in many of them, the radicals proceeded to "amend the Constitution", which was in breach already.  The Constitution itself requires a Republican form of government be guaranteed in the States.  Those amendments were invalid, just as everything the US regime has done has no basis in the Constitution.

Long story short, the US regime is lawless, behaving in whatever manner it chooses for itself, with their only inhibition being the need to balance the population, which is easily done by dividing the voters into two groups and pitting them against one another.  They have maintained this charade for 151 years, and the empire has expanded across the globe, using the same techniques originally used against the States to subdue other States/Nations.

It's curious also, that in the 1700s, when the Great Seal of the US was made, they chose to place the 6-sided hexagram, "Star of Saturn" to dominate above the American eagle.  Long before the zionists openly proclaimed it as their symbol, even renaming it the "Star of David".

It's likely the same people who set out on this course of the "Rise of the Reign of Saturn"(from the same declogue that the motto Novus Ordo Seclorum was taken), intended for the US to be just what it is today.....

Blue Steel 309's picture

True. The Constitution was abolished in 1862. Not even 2 generations after it was written. Lincoln was assassinated before he could even send all the Africans back. Almost like the whole thing was orchestrated by the BOE to set up shop here.

Not like Andrew Jackson fought of the hostile take over by the BOE just a little while before that.

Interesting that it took them another 50 years to fully establish the Iron fist of Jew rule in 1913.

Lets get real, arabs are thought in schools to hate jews and israel all day long. Israel needs nukes or else they would have been attacked with chemical weapons a long time ago.

historian40's picture

So you say, but in reality, the zionist state repeatedly violates their neighbors' territory and has committed a multitude of acts of war on them.  Lebanon and Syria as the latest examples.  What has the Syrian response been to the zionist state's aggression?  Stern words, not chemical weapons, or any return attack for that matter.  Having conrol of the US, the zionists fear nothing.  They show it in their boldness to act as they wish.  The victims dare not even raise a hand to defend themselves.

Pharisaims(judaism) teaches that "jews" are superior to all others.

1 Thessalonians 2:15 tells Christians that jews are contrary to all men.  Nothing has changed since then.

Israel first or America first. Trump already chose the former. He sold his own daughter to the Tribe. Some evidence the Trump line is crypto.
