Angry Girl Scouts Lash Out: "The Boy Scouts' House Is On Fire"

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the somewhat stunning 'grand virtue signaling' decision by the Boy Scouts of America to allow girls to join the ranks of its Cub Scout program, as well as create a Scouting program for older girls, the Girl Scouts of the USA has issued a blistering rebuke.

"The Boy Scouts' house is on fire," Girl Scouts told ABC News in a statement today.

"Instead of addressing systemic issues of continuing sexual assault, financial mismanagement and deficient programming, BSA's senior management wants to add an accelerant to the house fire by recruiting girls."

The Girl Scouts initially responded Wednesday to the Boy Scouts' decision with a blog post citing what it said is the power of the "single-gender environment."

"Girl Scouts is the best girl leadership organization in the world, created with and for girls," the organization wrote in the post.

"We believe strongly in the importance of the all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment that Girl Scouts provides, which creates a free space for girls to learn and thrive."

It continued, "The benefit of the single-gender environment has been well-documented by educators, scholars, other girl- and youth-serving organizations, and Girl Scouts and their families. Girl Scouts offers a one-of-a-kind experience for girls with a program tailored specifically to their unique developmental needs."

In the past, the Girl Scouts have been cool to the idea of admitting girls into the Boy Scouts, citing research that showed many girls learn best in an all-female environment.

"We are unparalleled in our ability to build great female leaders who contribute to society at every level," said Andrea Bastiani Archibald, a psychologist who helps guide the Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scouts organization, founded in 1912, has a membership of 1.8 million girls led by 800,000 adults, according to its website. The organization generates nearly $1 billion, half of its annual revenue, in sales from the famous Girl Scouts cookies.

So how long before Girl Scouts are denigrated by the left for not accepting boys? Not long we suspect.

Wouldn't it be nice if boys had a place free from little whores?

Boys don't want the girls there anyway.., they were just trying to be polite.

Didn't work...

The people who run the Girl Scouts could've made it badass, but instead farted around for 50 years. Now they want the menfolk to fix everything for them. That pretty much sums it up.

ufos8mycow's picture

The answer is pretty obvious. Government mandated membership in the Scouts for ALL children. They can set up a committee to come up with an agenda.

Boy Scouts?

Talking about a dictatorship structure. Why would any women want their daughters there?

the discriminatory "boy scouts" should also be required to open membership to grown men

that's our demand

In some cases, true.  It depends on the VOLUNTEER leaders.   We have a Troop that's regularly hiked 50-100 miles, gotten SCUBA certified, spent  a week on a desert island in the Keys, gone iceclibming, canoed Lake Champlain, gone whitewater rafting on class 4 and 5 rapids, and gone climbing in the GUNKS and elsewhere.  Our Scouts have done more community service than I can count (min 200 hours for an Eagle project and we average 3 a year).  We've sent kids to West Point and Annapolis.

And yes, we've had gay kids - who were never treated differently.  Some haad their own tent while one had a long time friend (who was definitely NOT gay).  Sex was NOT part of Scouts - period.  The topic was simply 'off the table' and no sexual activity of any kind allowed.  That includes the teen male bragging about 'conquests' and such.  NOT allowed.

We had a range of kids - jocks, nerds, stoners and skaters - Scouting was the ONLY place where some of these groups overlapped.  It was a GOOD thing for all.

BUT it all depends on the local leaders.  The local paid staff generally is horrid and BSANational is GODAWFUL

and btw - there's a difference between homosexuals and pedophiles - the latter should not be tolerated in ANY organization serving youth.

And as far as girls worrying about males in a coed org.... I recall a scandal a whiel back where 16 year old girl scouts threw themselves at NY Cops accompanying them on a camping trip.  The simplest way to avoid problems is a blanket prohibition on ANYTHING sexual.   It can be done.

Escrava Isaura's picture

It sounds like that you have a very sophisticated crowd there to the point that some end up in Annapolis. Kudos to you.

What you have/had there is not your average boy scouts.

We're well aware we are NOT typical but also believe we are what Scouting CAN be with the right leadership.

My youngest's patrol started out with 8 kids.  Five stayed through HS graduation - One Life and four Eagles - four Philmont trips, Four SCUBA qualifications at Sea Base, Two Desert Island treks.  Two National Merit winners, Two semi-finalists.

An amazingly accomplished group - but not all that unusual.  While this Troop regularly turns out Eagles that is NOT the focus - it's about learning

Again though, it depends on the adults involved and ironically, the most involved are often blue collar or even f/t SAHD's.  Some white collar fathers are involved and do go on treks but an awful lot are rarely seen.

BECAUSE we do so well, we DO get a lot of 'problem kids' whose parents hope Scouting can straighten them out.  Most don't last long when faced with our rules though a few do turn around.

As you guys probably gathered from some of my posts here, my boys are both Scouts.  This news hit me like a punch to the gut yesterday.  I asked "whose fucked up political decision was this?"  And... "Guys, Trump won, we don't have to do shit like this to appease the libs any more."

Want to see the BSA press release wherein they just about break their arm patting themselves on the back for this wonderful decision?  Here you go:

I called them up.  Told them two things:

1.  I am not taking teenage girls camping.  For about a thousand different reasons that should be obvious.

2.  You just "NFL'ed" the Boy Scouts.  Congratulations, assholes.

The Girl Scouts are right to be pissed off.  (Please note that Girl Scouts are a completely separate organization from Boy Scouts- they are not "sister" organizations to eachother.)

skinwalker's picture

I worked my teenage ass off to become an Eagle Scout.

Now I have to see a once proud organization become completely cucked.

Damn right I'm angry.

NoDebt's picture

I hear you, brother.  Eagles Scout rank is going to get watered down until it's basically meaningless in this process.

DocBerg's picture

I have been a Boy Scout merit badge counselor for about 20 years.  I recently had a bad experience working with a local Troop, because the scoutmaster thought I was taking too long to get the Scouts through the 3 Citizenship badges required for Eagle.  He also would not let me work with the Scouts at the regularly scheduled meetings, and I had a lot of problems with kids not showing up or doing the work.  So, I was pushed out, and the scoutmaster signed off on the blue cards when most of the requirements had not been covered.  This Troop is a notorious Eagle factory, and has been for years.  I complained to the Council, but was blown off.  All they care about is the Numbers, not whether those badges were really earned.

Too many Eagle Scouts got their rank in this way.  Those 3 merit badges are the heart of the Scout Law and are the core of Scouting.  So, the Eagle Scout rank is already watered down.

After my experience, and because of the liberal stupidity shown by the BSA Board, I am going to stop being a merit badge counselor.

UmbilicalMosqueSweeper's picture

Good job. NEVER justify or support an asshole's existence!

cynicalskeptic's picture

Sadly this is not uncommon.

Ironically we have something of the opposite problem in that the Council Eagle Review Board is old guard and views themselves as 'keepers of the flame' or something. The true irony is that only a couple of them actually made Eagle and frankly, they tend to be TOO hard on some kids.

My youngest son's patrol had 4 Eagles- outstandingly qualified.  Two almost quit because their presentations were being micro criticized - by people who were honestly dumber than they were.   Our own Eagle 'advisor' had a HS education and was 'correcting' writeups done by two Merit Scholarship winners.

Our kids also tend to average 30-40 Merit Badges - Eagle required plus some other major ones.  None of the BS like 'Scholar or Reading.  You see way too many kids elsewhere raking up a zillion merit badges with perfunctory work. Too many Eagle mIlls have a ridiculous number of merit badge counselors who come close to simply rubber stamping minimal work.

cynicalskeptic's picture

Eagle HAS been watered down.  You need 200 hours min on an Eagle Project in our Council.  Too many places churn them out.  LDS (Mormon Units) were notorious for 'one day' projects where a congregation would do a clean up or something.

I hate cunton's picture

You mean the leaders get to take teenage girls camping?   Hmm let me rethink this .

NoDebt's picture

Yeah, all humor aside, you can see the obvious problems that could arise here.  In an age where the mere allegation of inappropriate behavior IS THE SAME AS BEING CONVICTED OF IT..... no fucking way.  I'm not doing it.  The potential liability exposure is practically endless.  For me AND for my sons.

Blankone's picture

Several friends have told be the multi group camp outs could get animated with lots of high jinks and dark humor practical jokes on other squads. Including the good old taping naked to a pole etc.. And a bit physical when raiding others supplies/goodies. Most done in a competitive way. Things that make girls cry.

Gays in the BS. Now girls. Watch the girls be given the edge and boys expected to defer to them. Accomplishment awards to participation/effort awards. How are male leaders going to push girls in a masculine manner as opposed to coddling. So, get ready for women as scout leaders (will happen) and new categories of badges. (And there will be sex acts on some camp outs.)

cynicalskeptic's picture

Hazing and other BS should NEVER be tolerated.  Opens the door to even worse stuff.

The mood set in a unit is directly related to the way the leaders behave.    Elsewhere I've seen units with leaders drinking on campouts and doing far worse.   NOT GOOD

someone i knew once explained to me that church camps were the best place to get laid. i was a bit of an innocent child so to speak, and had honestly never concidered the possibility.

you'd have to be mentally defficient to put girls and boys together into the environment normally associated with what boy scouts used to be. cub scouts, maybe.

I do not know much about BSA except they attracted a lot of joo$ when I was young.   The HQ was in deep Bible belt SC but the retards continue to sell out every day like it is run by a a bunch of f&gs like Lindsey Graham.  SC GOP-e is one of the worst with Lindsay graham and that Hinjoo fake NeoCon in the UN.  The stupid cunt Sikh or hindjoo.

SC is supposed to be conservative but it is filled with ZioCons and retards.  Are all the pastors in SC like Rev. John Hagee.  He praises the IDF each time they shoot some Christian Iraqi, Palestinian or Syrian in the back.  Even Libya had Christians that Ghaddffi protected.

chubbar's picture

This is the same shit that is going on all over. They have some cucked, dickless douchebags in the upper level managements that are so fucking keen to be looked at as progressive and diversity oriented, so eager to suck up to women, that they put forth these stupid fucking ideas that have no merit. They could give a shit whether it is good for the business, for their clients or any other fucking metric. Assholes like these people just need to be fired and returned to being a barrista somewhere so they can't fuck up any more business models.

Seems like we are dealing with just another version of Russia Today.
