Facebook Founder Warns "God Only Knows What It's Doing To Kids' Brains"

Tyler Durden's picture

38-year-old founding president of Facebook, Sean Parker, was uncharacteristically frank about his creation in an interview with Axios. So much so in fact that he concluded, Mark Zuckerberg will probably block his account after reading this.

Confirming every 'big brother' conspiracy there is about the social media giant, Parker explained how social networks purposely hook users and potentially hurt our brains...

"When Facebook was getting going, I had these people who would come up to me and they would say, 'I'm not on social media.' And I would say, 'OK. You know, you will be.' And then they would say, 'No, no, no. I value my real-life interactions. I value the moment. I value presence. I value intimacy.' And I would say, ... 'We'll get you eventually.'"

"I don't know if I really understood the consequences of what I was saying, because [of] the unintended consequences of a network when it grows to a billion or 2 billion people and ... it literally changes your relationship with society, with each other ... It probably interferes with productivity in weird ways. God only knows what it's doing to our children's brains."

"The thought process that went into building these applications, Facebook being the first of them, ... was all about: 'How do we consume as much of your time and conscious attention as possible?'"

"And that means that we need to sort of give you a little dopamine hit every once in a while, because someone liked or commented on a photo or a post or whatever. And that's going to get you to contribute more content, and that's going to get you ... more likes and comments."

"It's a social-validation feedback loop ... exactly the kind of thing that a hacker like myself would come up with, because you're exploiting a vulnerability in human psychology."

"The inventors, creators — it's me, it's Mark [Zuckerberg], it's Kevin Systrom on Instagram, it's all of these people — understood this consciously. And we did it anyway."

In this 'confessional', it appears Parker has become "something of a conscientious objector" on social media.

Howeever , as Axios notes, Parker ends with just enough crazy to make you wonder...

"Because I'm a billionaire, I'm going to have access to better health care so ... I'm going to be like 160 and I'm going to be part of this, like, class of immortal overlords. [Laughter]

Because, you know the [Warren Buffett] expression about compound interest. ... [G]ive us billionaires an extra hundred years and you'll know what ... wealth disparity looks like."

Never used Facefuck, and never will. Not a snowflakes' chance in hell anyone or anything changes that.

I do look upon Facefuck users with a bit of pity though. As a general rule they have no clue what they have been exposed to, nor what it has done to them.

And I would concur with Parkers' sentiment...it's unlikely this story gets better over time.

I'm in the process of creating suckfacebook.com
It's an app that allows 12-16 year olds to utilize Skype to make out with each other over their smartphones.
No more need for contraception. The Catholic church and Planned Parenthood are large investors.

His (FB founder) Confession is eerily reminescent of jew supremacist Edward Bernays-"the father of spin", and the author of "propaganda"

He was the nephew of jew supremacist sigmund freud

E. Bernays insured that U.S. goyim boys fought and died in jew warI & jew warII, to the heart rendering grief & dispair of their parents.

When two men are hunting each other for whatever reason...

You can't trust no one, no friend, no family, and no mothers... goes without saying about DC, Lobbyist, Wall Street, the people that do your elections, that do book keeping, auditing, taxes, financial ratings,... under-writing...

But hell that is just control of the people & divorce!

Mostly just power of the people that have ... power, wealth, control, access, lands, titles, money, status,

To me what makes it so toxic is the unlevel field aspects. The more one sided the management is the more toxic. Same goes for this place too. What sets this apart is the posters that back their shit up well. Not with spelling but facts, links, science, reason and logic. The hurt feelings are just a bonus. Its an intellectual man up thing. That thing is what FB and the like dont get. They just count on soft fuzy emotion exclusively kinda cheer leading people away from the harsh reality of truths. Think of it like a petting zoo for your dogma.

I say we walk all them dogmas out back an see just whos dogma is best. Trot um out folks.

" Not with spelling but facts, links, science, reason and logic."

Speaking of logic, that is not a sentence. And of science, you do realize most of the people who post on here beLIEve we went to the moon in the 60's?

VWAndy's picture

There are lotsa beliefs around. Truths ? Thats worth looking for. Just sayin its gonna be kinda hard selling lies when truths are the same price.

+1 for attempting to educate a moron. Good luck.

I had to try. Maybe if enough of us try the willfully blind will follow simply because they are followers and dont have what it takes to lead.

Grammar and logic are not the same thing.

We're not 'speaking' here, we're writing.... Visual stimuli going straight to Brokaw's area of the brain, idiot.

Andy's post made perfect sense.

The current overlords have forgotten the lessons of the French Revolution, if they ever knew them, or even went through the process of tying past events to present realities.  One thing for sure has not changed much since then - human nature and anger and the need for 'social justice.'

For anyone that missed it, this was a timely discussion by Stefan Molyneux with a guest on video game addiction. https://youtu.be/3qn10NAvZw0

When companies openly use the following domain: www.usedopamine.com you know phone / addiction is intentional.

He received a lot of backlash from his legion of dolts. He's just another controlled oppositon who spreads crumbs of truth. I enjoy listening to the callers issues and imagine what I'd tell them. Molenuex spreads the lies of space, evolution and there is no God. That is the easy way to know he's controlled. He doesn't need contributions to survive. That is just the icing on the cake. Walking around money. He has his marching orders and his marching money.

I think phone addiction is to keep you in the EMF field as much as possible. Lucid dreaming is one of the main enemies of the elite. It opens the doors of good. EMF radiation is an effective weapon agains Lucid dreaming, which is a main reason I never use any wireless devices.

The zucker is trying to rewrite history.

It was the telecoms that figured out the model to eat your time as time is money and searched for ever- expanding ways to generate more ticks (from you and that you payed for)

Then came the porn industry that took it a step further and made it personal with sexlines, datingnumbers, chatboxes and profiles.

The zuckers took it outof the pornsphere and went for the masses; career/professionals and kids first.

Try have a conversation with a stranger on the street. They are all zucked in... ZuckerZombies.

Face (CIA)book, I've come to realize, has been created to make you either angry or depressed. They claim they might not know the scope of the damage it does. I suspect they know exactly what it does. I've used it twice, and each time,  after a number of years, came out the worse for wear. I'll not go back this time. Alcohol & or drugs are better for you. At least w/ those there is a chance of retaining your dignity should you not wander too far in. All 3 rely on addiction for your next visit at some level.

Zuckerberg means suckerville. He's just a (disarming) face they put in front of a government program. He likely had little to do w/ its creation. There is much evil science behind it.

Faeriedust's picture

Possible.  But I think more likely, he really does think he invented it.  Like most inventions, once the preliminary research, development, and infrastructure was in place, the application was probably mostly inevitable.  It might have been designed slightly differently -- GOOGLE was designed very differently from the current product originally, and only became the mind-trap it is today because financiers took it over and put it on a "profitable" footing.  Left in the hands of Page and Brin it would have remained an excellent and unbiased search engine.  Had Facebook been embraced by university culture and funded on a nonprofit basis, it might also have become a harmless social utility.  Monetizing the social utility has turned it into a dangerous parasite. Surrepticious government support has made it a danger to civil liberties.  But something like it would have come into being regardless; the only choice really was how we would implement and control it, and to a certain extent we still have those choices -- if we were to choose to exercise them as a society.

CIA was all over Google from the start, meeting with the two developers every month before is became a live product.  CIA venture firm put in early money.

But google if it was not protected in its corporate position would have been wasted by now for all the criminality they supported.

They are the network so they know every criminal act etc. and no plausible deniability exists.

Nobody cares about them. Nobody cares about you. Nobody cares about the country. Nobody cares about the planet.

Not enough to cramp anyone elses lifestyle anyway.

No brains, No birds, no bees, no frogs, no butterflies, no star fish, no sea horses, no water, no air, no food, no antibiotics. 150* in the shade. Who Cares? I had mine! And boy was it FUN!

FaceBook is the single major vehicle that creates snowflakes, alarmists and social justice warriors. Worse yet, those that actively use FaceBook readily give up their privacy and their money to FaceBook advertisers and the mobile carriers while being mentally poisoned and socially destroyed.

There's a new class of slaves created in America. This time, instead of being abused and forced to do heavy physical and menial work, they are systematically intellectually abused by monopolistic silicon walley social media industry billionaires.

The propaganda is so thick in the US lying media that we have to have the Communist Chinese state propaganda org tell us the facts.

That's pretty fucking sad in the land of the free & the home of the brave...

This article is a DAMNING INDICTMENT of the US media.

"State Media: Chinese People ‘Cheated’ by ‘Absurd’ U.S. Media into Hating Donald Trump

“This doesn’t come easily, as the initial impression of Trump was completely led by US media reports,” it continues. “These absurd reports deeply influenced Chinese public opinion. It wasn’t until his election victory that the Chinese public realized they had been cheated by the American media.”

The Global Times, a media outlet fully controlled by the Chinese communist government, argues also that the Chinese public no longer trusts American media, in part because of “fake reports during the elections and subjective opposition against Trump.”

As for Trump, the outlet declares that Chinese people prefer his honesty to Hillary Clinton, “who always puts on airs,”

Mark Zuckerberg seems analogous to my kid brother when he was in the first grade and I was in the fourth grade. He used to tag along with my friends and I while we horsed around at recess. Then, he went home and tattled on me to our parents, hoping to gain their favor. That’s how I see Facebook, except that Zuck is rewarded far better for spying, targeting, and selling people out to others than my little brother ever was.

Neighter of them use it and are probably much happier because of their choice....

I'll bet my date on Saturday with the Most Beautiful Woman in the World

that he also has said that 1) Guns are responsible for killing people, 2) hollywood bimbos who trade their body parts for movie parts, are victims, and 3) social justice means giving descendants from slaves ten million dollars apiece for reparations.

When will so-called smartest people in the world ever wake up to the fact, the reality,  that every product, object, or service ever invented is merely a tool that can be used for good or for evil and everything in between?

Under the absurd logic of this billionaire, the Wheel is responsible for every cart, stagecoach, auto, gear, truck, and ball bearing equpped guillotine that killed or maimed anyone.  The operators of same bear none.

It's true. You can be so smart that you go eventually go 360 degrees around the horn into lunacy, idiocy, and ignorance.

What is TV doing to kids' brains?. Can you flip through the channels with out seeing somebody getting shot?

TV is is telling us GUNS are the solution to our problems.

haruspicio's picture

Yes all this crypto fascist Hollwood shit is telling the kids that extreme violence is the answer to every problem. That cops are entitled to beat up and trample on the rights of every suspect, that they are heroes when the shoot first and kill any/everyone; that working for the CIA gives you the right to go into any country on earth and shoot the fucking place up; that the ends justify the means. It works on adults as well as kids. Throw the box out and returm to happiness.

I was an early adopter of the internet back when it was Listserv mailing lists run out of academic back (black) systems.  I had a gang of friends that discussed esoteric subjects that you couldn't find more than one person in 10,000 who knew enough to be worth talking to Outside.  We had our trolls, our spats,  our love affairs and flirtations in spontaneous poetry that lasted for weeks on end.  Eventually it ended due to too many trolls, too many spats, making it too much work for the list owners to keep civil.  I lost a community.  But I think it served as an innoculation against Facebook.  That garish, ADD-designed visual cacophony of picyune interpersonal trivia will never compare with month-long conversations about Plato intermixed with mystical poetry; "likes" from local "friends" who got through college by purchasing their term papers will never compete with the acceptance of world-renowned scholars as a worthy if nonpaying student.  Nor is it at all comfortable baring my inner thoughts to a circle of "friends" who know where I work and can get me fired if they shoot off their mouths

No, thank-you.  I understand the psychological mechanism of Facebook.  I just can't understand why people are gullible enough to fall for it.  Obviously they didn't spend their pre-adolescence learning the nuts and bolts of brainwashing, psychological programming, and psychic self-defense.  That being the case, they can't control their thoughts, can't discipline their realities, can't discriminate between truth and the bullshit someone is feeding them for unspecified purposes . . . so why in the world could I possibly give a damn what they "think", since they are incapable of quality, independent thought?
