Mueller Probes Flynn's Role In $15 Million Plot To Kidnap Erdogan's Arch-Nemesis

Tyler Durden's picture

Last week, we reported that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is close to asking a grand jury to approve indictments for former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn and his son, Mike Flynn Jr., as investigators believe they have enough evidence to bring charges after speaking to multiple witnesses about Flynn's lobbying work, including whether he laundered money or lied to federal agents about his overseas contacts. Now, we have a somewhat clearer picture of what Mueller has been digging around for in his investigation of Flynn who was fired after just 24 days on the job.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Mueller is probing a plot involving Flynn and his son to forcibly, and lucratively, remove Fethullah Gulen, who as most regular readers know is Turkish president Erdogan's arch-nemesis, and the man who - according to Erdogan - controls Turkey's "deep state", and was responsible for the failed (and faked) July 2016 coup attempt against Erdogan. In more practical terms, Gulen is a 76-year-old Muslim cleric currently residing in rural Pennsylvania. And, as is also well-known, Erdogan has for years been attempting, lobbying and threatening the US in hopes of getting him extradited back to Turkey. This is where Flynn allegedly comes in: reportedly he, and his son, were part of a plan to grab Gulen and deliver him to Turkey in return for $15 millions. To wit:

Under the alleged proposal, Mr. Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr., were to be paid as much as $15 million for delivering Fethullah Gulen to the Turkish government, according to people with knowledge of discussions Mr. Flynn had with Turkish representatives. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has pressed the U.S. to extradite him, views the cleric as a political enemy.

While this may sounds too bizarre to be true - as are most things involving Turkey's cartoonish dictator - this isn’t the first time the public has been informed about an alleged plot involving Flynn to kidnap Gulen and rendition him to an isolated Turkish prison island to face charges of orchestrating the July 2016 attempted coup that killed more than 200 Turks.

Before entering the Trump administration as the president’s national security adviser, Flynn was lobbying on behalf of Turkish interests in the US, including on the Gulen issue. The problem is that - like Manafort and Podesta - he didn’t disclose that work until much later, in Flynn's case March of this year, well after he was forced out of the White House for misleading Vice President Mike Pence and other White House officials about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador.

Furthermore, Federal records show that the company, Flynn Intel Group, was paid $530,000 for advocacy work that “could be construed to have principally benefited the Republic of Turkey.” He is now facing military, congressional and criminal investigations into allegations that he improperly concealed his financial ties to Turkey and Russia, and into whether the ties played any role in his decisions as the president’s adviser.

More details from the WSJ:

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have asked at least four individuals about a meeting in mid-December at the ‘21’ Club in New York City, where Mr. Flynn and representatives of the Turkish government discussed removing Mr. Gulen, according to people with knowledge of the FBI’s inquiries. The discussions allegedly involved the possibility of transporting Mr. Gulen on a private jet to the Turkish prison island of Imrali, according to one of the people who has spoken to the FBI.

That wasn’t the first time Flynn allegedly met with representatives of the Turkish government to discuss kidnapping removing Gulen. As former CIA Director James Woolsey told The Wall Street Journal back in March, Woolsey attended another meeting in September where he says he told the group that the plan sounded illegal.

Ironically, the Fed's interest in whether Flynn was pursuing potentially illegal means to forcibly deal with Gulen indicates that the former Trump adviser faces another investigation stemming from his work on behalf of Turkish government interests, both before and after the presidential election. We say ironically because last time we checked, Turkey is not in Russia, at least not yet according to NATO.

Even so, the entire account is based on hearsay:

"the people who described the alleged proposal said they didn’t attend the December meeting and didn’t have direct knowledge from Flynn or his associates about its purported details. It isn’t clear how advanced Mueller’s investigation of the alleged plan to remove Gulen is, nor is there any indication that any money changed hands, according to those familiar with the discussions and the FBI investigation."

In light of the charges against Manafort and Gates, it is also likely that Flynn will face a charge of violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which requires US citizens to disclose when they are acting in the US on behalf of foreign powers. And, like Manafort and Gates, the violations being examined have nothing to do with Flynn’s work on the Trump campaign or his brief tenure as National Security Adviser. However, like Manafort, Gates and Papadopoulos, Mueller is working to find any dirt on anyone associated with the campaign in the hopes of flipping them, or convincing them to testify against their former boss in exchange for leniency.

Until then, look out for more indictments, and - of course - the best part: Erdogan's angry response which he is never too shy to deliver.

President Trump had no choice but to fire Comey. The guy was a bad cop. Mueller is even worse. This isn't a government. It is a disgrace. The Republicans are a joke. I would feel better if the Mafia was in charge.

The J-Mafia is in charge. Consigliere Kushner is in Tel Aviv meeting with the family as we speak.

So would I.

The Mafia takes much less percentage wise.

They understand business and skimming a little as opposed to choking it out of existence.

They are also not very supportive of deadwood

Where is the Russia collusion?

Next Mueller will be probing into whether or not Manafort, or his son, stole logs from his neighbors adjacent property.

Okay I caught you steeling logs Manafort now flip on the Donald and tell me if within the last ten years Donald Trump conversed with a Russian at a dinner party and actually ate hors d'oeuvres off the same serving dish with this Russian.

Meanwhile, Hillary & Bill made $145 million AND a $500K speaking fee on their crooked Russian Uranium One scheme. Forget about that as they are deep state connected. Notice how what little covereage this got on the MSM has grown as silent as the news updates on the Las Vegas massacre. Nothing to see there.

There is one set of laws for the deep-state and another set of laws for all of us peons!

Flynn was going to get paid millions of dollar by Turkey to get rid of a political rival.   That behavior is illegal and serious abuse of power and should be prosecuted.   As a patriot citizen of this country, I believe we should get impeach a President who lies non-stop, uses is position to enrich himself and is owned by the Russians.  I would like a President who represents the American people, not Putin.

Mike Masr's picture

What does anything you said have to do with Donald Trump? Whatever Flynn did or didn't do with regards to Turkey occurred during the Obama Administration.

This story has nothing to do with Russian collusion. I think you are confusing Hillary with Trump.Your so against Flynn's alleged behavior but say nothing about what Hillary did as an abuse of power as Secretary of State. Didn't Hillary & Bill make $145 million and a $500K speaking fee on their Uranium One scheme with Russia?

Precisely how is Trump owned by Russia? This probe and Senate enquires have been going on for almost a year and there is still not one shred of proof of any collusion between Trump and Russia. If anyone represents Putin it is Hillary whom Putin knows can be bought and owned.

The author is relying on information provided by exactly WHO to speculate at length for a narrative..This is how Fusion GPS makes it money as paid guns for hire. In the past an article like this would not be published without a source ..The fact a Special Counsel is rooting thru the life of a retired General with four Bronze stars who bucked the system on ISIS and so much more under the tyrant Obama is enough motive it seems...Click-Bait smears, innuendo and character assassination at its finest..

Seems to me like Meuller may have gotten his hands on a movie script and just ran with it.

But then again the truth is often stranger than fiction so you never know.

Either way it's pretty fucking bizarre.

QIG's picture

Bizarre is the term for it. Military man retires then turns his hand to a father son mercenary business. That is not why we train and employ professional officers in the USA. Disgraceful, meaaing "without any grace" to it.

sidfalco's picture

What the fuck does this have to do with Trump's election?

The Special Prosecutor - basically a Witchfinder General with no democratic oversight and no right of defence - is a disgrace.

QIG's picture

Whatevr his mission, Meuller is running into a lot of dirt that needs sweeping. I suspect Trump may have turned him now so that he is working for rather than against swamp draining.

DjangoCat's picture

You are correct, he is sweeping up the dirt, but not the dirt you seem to suspect.  Flynn was on the trail of Gulen, who is a deep state traitor in league with a criminal CE I eh?.  Big time drug smuggler.

Mueller seems to be trying to sweep that under the rug.

QIG's picture

I have never heard before this of a high ranking officer going out into retirement and forming a mercenary political opertion with his son doign dirty work of foreign Presidents.

That is perverted. Politics mixed with the Military is a sick develpoment. Officers are supposed  to be non-political, and they are not suppose to speak in public.

Trump need his generals now though becaue we are in fact, "at war", and we have been since the civil war ended. Not like the civil war though, but more like the one Geo. Washington had to fight, external invasion of third world barbarians being let in by traitors (I call them "infill-traitors") in our Governement whose loyalties are running back directly or indirectly to the Vatican and its "NWO" which means "not our country" but rather "total domination".)

We are a land of "heretics" rememebr? The country most filled with "protestants" (root word is "protest"). The Barabians have been allowed in by those like Bush/Clinton/Obama who are into government as agents of a foreign power - judging them by tehir actions while in office.

The USA has been invaded for a long time, and if Hillary had achieved the Presidency you would be very aware of that by now.

QIG's picture

There is a deep sickness within our miltiary and recent retirees that make them believe that instead of being loyal and queitly efficicent public defenders they are, in fact "masters of the universe", entitled to whatever they can get "gaming the system" or working outisde it as "free enterprise demons" pretending that the half a life time of secure retirement checks is a ticket to go haywire with power lust and greed.

They get too much money both inside their careers and afterwards. You see it in their arrogance and posture, and speech.

We need a cadre of highly honorable "professional military types" full of idealism, and who are mainly steadfast patriots, not "money horders". We need a small standing force that has as its focus defense and mobilizing into the services the civilians as may be needed in times of stress and training them to fight.

I also think we need the draft with safeguard against abusing that for "foreign adventures of conquest".  A short period of Universal service in early life binds the people together.

Our miltary in recent years has beern too "mercenary" and too "rouge".

Endgame Napoleon's picture

Why are you comparing small military pension checks with millions made overseas by our leaders, including speeches where ex-civilian, political leaders, like Clinton and Obama, are paid anywhere from $500k to $3.2 million for one-hour speeches to foreign financial institutions?

There is a lot of contract work in foreign countries, not just through the military.

America's problem is that its mommas would rather do anything—work any two-bit, low-wage job—than raise their own children, resulting in historically high rates of incarceration and mass murder.

Just like two-career parents who are not investing much time in their children, despite all the excused absenteeism from work and all the welfare and tax-code favoritism they enjoy in the name of having children, America’s business leaders would rather do anything than invest money and time in building up their own country.

Any foreign entanglement entices them more.

The system rewards the negligence of both groups endlessly.

QIG's picture

I do not know what to say to you.

I did not compare military checks to civilian ones. In theory the two systems are entirely different. In the military you get paid to take orders and destroy things and people that need it.

In civilian life you get paid to create new things, render services that are wanted and needed.

The military, since it is not productive nor competetive needs to be taken care off well and fairly, but it now now pampered at officer levels. For many is it a start into the society, But it has been mistreated, exploited and over paid grossly at the top ranks.

I hope trump will fix it.

I am actively looking into getting HW Bush, and his son George W., to Iraq, to appear before a tribunal to answer for their war crimes.

I am also actively inquiring how to bring Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and many others, to Syria, Yemen,  and Libya, to appear before the proper authorities to answer for their unspeakable war crimes.

I do not defend General Flynn; I have no idea if he is the victim of a smear campaign or if he is incredibly stupid and greedy.

Please help!

Respond below with ideas; or use different message sites and boards to continue this inquiry.

If more and more people throughout the world continue to speak of these war criminals, and demand action; we may just get somewhere!!!

Nor, presumably, of his terrorist financing in central Asian republics to cause trouble for the Ruskies.  Nor, presumably, of his being invited into the USA by Bill and Hillary and having his Green card application signed by two senior CIA officials.

This is the stink they are trying to perfume over.

Everybodys All American's picture

Flynn was actually trying to shut down a well known Clinton era installed ratline of drugs coming into the US through Gulen operatives. His big crime according to Sibel Edmonds is that he exposed the Obama administrations role in creating ISIS and basically said fuck no I'm not sending our units in to fight along side ISIS in Syria. This is all about seeking revenge on Flynn by the deep state.

"The people who described the alleged proposal said they didn't attend the December meeting and didn't have direct knowledge from Flynn or his associates about its purported details."

Wow, what great sources.  These are going to be GREAT witnesses at trial.

This is a big nothing burger, just like everything else around this "Russian collusion" story.

If you watch the WSJ's interview of Woolsey, Woolsey is very non commital about what he heard, other than there was discussion of illegally removing Gulen.  But Woolsey says that he "can't recall" if Flynn or Flynn's employees were discussing this, or who even brought it up.  And Woolsey was late to the meeting, and missed half of it.

In other words, there is no first hand witness, with first hand knowledge in any press account, that Flynn did anything other than listen to rants from Erdogan's accolytes.  Its irresponsible, and betrays an anti-Trump agenda, for the WSJ to be running such a headline, with such weak sourcing.

But then when it comes to Trump, no sourcing, and the most outrageous headlines are the order of the day.

Conspiracy in criminal law requires two people to discuss an idea and then to take one act in furtherance of their discussion.  No act, no crime.  You can't jail someone for having discussions about something that is illegal.

This is more from the President's political opponents trying to dirty up the President, by dirtying up those around him.

BobEore's picture

As per your advisal... watched the whole interview...

"Turkish Ministers" were present in the room
"Brainstorming about a very serious matter that would - pretty clearly - be a violation of the law"
"Avoid the process of extradition"

"I don't recall who said what specifically"

I'm thinkin this thru... the man who would became director of the National Security of the USA... in a room with state ministers of an Islamist jihadi-run regime... who he was receiving money from... to press their case against Gulen and other policy matters.
\\\\\\even if/////no talk of an illegal snatch took place...

Gulen is just a front for the whole network of Yankee CIA, and possibly even whole of Anglo plus French, operatives, agents and traitors in Turkey. Many were in academia, media, state bureaucracy and other places of influence from where such agents can spread corruption and colonize a country. It's a classic western scheme of colonization and subjugation really. But Erdogan purged that covert western occupation force.
