Aircraft Carrier CVN-77 Parks Next Door To Syria Just As US Urges Americans To Leave Country "Immediately"

Tyler Durden's picture

Yesterday we reported that the Arab League (with European and US support) are preparing to institute a no fly zone over Syria. Today, we get an escalation which confirms we may be on the edge. Just out from CBS: "The U.S. Embassy in Damascus urged its citizens in Syria to depart "immediately," and Turkey's foreign ministry urged Turkish pilgrims to opt for flights to return home from Saudi Arabia to avoid traveling through Syria." But probably the most damning evidence that the "western world" is about to do the unthinkable and invade Syria, and in the process force Iran to retaliate, is the weekly naval update from Stratfor, which always has some very interesting if always controversial view on geopolitics, where we find that for the first time in many months, CVN 77 George H.W. Bush has left its traditional theater of operations just off the Straits of Hormuz, a critical choke point, where it traditionally accompanies the Stennis, and has parked... right next to Syria.

From Stratfor:

And from CBS:

"The U.S. Embassy continues to urge U.S. citizens in Syria to depart immediately while commercial transportation is available," said a statement issued to the American community in Syria Wednesday and posted on the Embassy's website. "The number of airlines serving Syria has decreased significantly since the summer, while many of those airlines remaining have reduced their number of flights."

The warning followed an announcement in Washington this week that Ambassador Robert Ford would not return to Syria this month as planned, indicating concerns over his safety.

The Obama administration quietly pulled Ford out of Syria last month, citing credible personal threats against him.

The Turkish foreign ministry on Wednesday urged Turkish pilgrims to opt for flights to return home from Saudi Arabia and avoid traveling through Syria for security reasons.

The warning came two days after Syrian soldiers opened fire on at least two buses carrying Turkish citizens, witnesses and officials said, apparent retaliation for Turkey's criticism of Assad. The Turks were returning from Saudi Arabia after performing the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Uh...Got Brent?

It does sound like they're trying to provoke Iran. Although most Americans are Imperial warmongers, they still don't have the balls to launch an offensive war without a false flag or other reason beforehand.

"Poor babies"  WTF?  The secret to successful negotiation is to make sure the other side doesn't realize what a moron you are.

America, the U.K., and all of Europe (U.N. and NATO) are all the strong arm of the world's bankers.  Blow up the death star, you blow up the world.

Personally this would be great, because at least then we can find out precisely who's labor is really worth a shit.  The only people who fear total collapse are paper pushing fucknuts who know their labor is not worth their current compensation.  Total collapse is just fine with me.

Wrong. If it wasn't for US weapons technology most European nations couldn't enforce a no-fly zone over their own fucking countries. NATO is a joke without the US.

This is a free association post, its random and rambling. Appologies if you dislike it. If other elements pop into your mind, list them here.

Elements, what do they mean?

Nixon, the gold backing, the seven days war.

Market instability, uncertainty. Confusion, coverup, but in any case the time frame must be short, less than three months if they start this fight now.

Hollidays, the only time in the next six months something can be pulled off with empty parlaments and congress.

Banks that need to fail, in an orderly fashion, and soon.

Countries Bonds that need to be supported, and others that need to be let go, to be driven forfiet soverienty.

A country that has only one overwhelming advantage left, it's military.

The currency war, provoked, advanced, the time frame shortened, is this an escalation or speeding up of hostilites or a reaction as the system is certainly going to fail soon? Do it first or don't bother?

We don't care very much about foriegn citizens, so this is not about syria, might it be about the suez canal and oil priced in dollars?

The Stirling, the British reserve currency, surived both world wars, and a great depression, but not the loss of the suez, and oil priced in stirling

3 months after libya decides to price oil in gold, it is conquored, 3 months after Sadam decides to price oil in euros, it is conqoured

1/3rd of all Egyptian officers trained in France and US, military funded by US, first Egyptian revolution failed giving power to the military, but they are rebelling again.

Israel, ready to fight, and in danger of losing the 11,000 USD per citizen we give it in aid... very soon.

results, instability, uncertainty, cover for politcal actions, licence through crisis to take action, leverage upon piigs, China and Russia as enemies outright.  Why do we want this war? Are we at the point we have no choice but to fight it now? What do we gain?

Thank God Iran has a shitload of UNSTOPPABLE missiles. Hopefully it acts as a deterrent to WW3.

"IRAN WILL CLOSE THE STRATEGIC STRAIT OF HORMUZ THE WORLD'S VITAL OIL SUPPLY LINE BY IMPLEMENTING ASSYMATRIC NAVAL WARFARE WITH MASS AND DISPERSED SWARMING TACTICS. THE UNITED STATES NAVY AIRCRAFT CARRIERS AND CARRIER BATTLE GROUPS (NAVY FLEETS) WILL HAVE NO CHANCE. THEY ARE ALL DESTROYED JUST WITHIN A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE WAR STARTS. THE BEST OPTION FOR IRAN IS TO ATTACK FIRST. IRAN WILL USE VERY POWERFUL SUPERSONIC C802 ANTISHIP MISSILE (NOOR MISSILE) ATTACK FROM LAND BY USING SHORE BASED MISSILE BATTERIES AND MOBILE MISSILE LAUNCHER VEHICLES. C802 ANTISHIP MISSILE ATTACK FROM AIR BY USING C802 LOADED IRANIAN FIGHTER JETS AND ATTACK HELICOPTERS. IRAN WILL ALSO USE ITS MOST POWERFUL ULTRAFAST MISSILE BOATS LOADED WITH C802 MISSILE AND RUSSIAN MADE ULTRAFAST SHKVAL TORPEDO (IRAN HOOT TORPEDO) THIS SUPER TORPEDO IS SO FAST THAT IT IS CALLED A UNDER WATER MISSILE. IRAN WILL USE INNUMERABLE SMALL SUPERFAST SPEEDBOATS ARMED WITH POWERFUL ROCKET LAUNCHER AND POWERFUL SMALL ANTISHIP MISSILE IN MASS AND DISPERSED SWARMING STRATEGY. THE SLOW MOVING UNITED STATES AIR CRAFT CARRIER SHIP AND ITS SUPPORTING CRUISERS AND DESTROYERS ARE ATTACKED BY ALL SIDES FROM LAND, WATER AND AIR WITH INNUMERABLE SUPERSONIC ANTISHIP MISSILES, POWERFUL ROCKET LAUNCHERS AND UNSTOPPABLE SUPERCAVITATION SHKVAL (HOOT) TORPEDOS. IT IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEND FROM SUCH ALL SIDE ALL WAY ATTACK THE U.S.A. NAVY CARRIER BATTLE GROUP HAVE THE DEFENCE MEASURES SUCH AS THE RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile AND THE Phalanx CIWS SYSTEMS. FOR EXAMPLE IF TEN C802 ANTISHIP MISSILES ARE FIRED FROM LAND, AIR AND WATER TO ATTACK A U.S.A. NAVY SHIP AND SEVEN C802 MISSILES ARE INTERCEPTED OUT OF TEN AND ONLY THREE C802 MISSILE CAN HIT THAT NAVY SHIP TAHT WILL BE ALL. THE SHIP WILL BE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. AND THAT IS THE GAME IRAN WILL BE PLAYING. IRAN ALSO HAVE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF SMALL FAST SUBMARINES EQUIPPED WITH THAT UNSTOPPABLE SHKVAL SUPERCAVITATION TORPEDOS AND VERY POWERFUL LATEST GENERATION INNUMERABLE "BOTTOM" NAVAL MINES. INFACT THE NAVAL MINE CAPABILITIES OF IRAN'S MISSILE BOATS, SMALL SPEEDBOATS AND SMALL SUBMARINES IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR COMPLETELY BLOCKING THE STRATEGIC STRAIT OF HORMUZ FOR YEARS AND THAT IS THE GAME. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AND NOW THE GRAND FINALE EVENT -------- THE ULTIMATE U.S.A. CARRIER KILLER WEAPON FOR IRAN TO KISS THE ASS OF U.S.A. NAVY CARRIER BATTLE GROUP ------- THE SUPERSONIC STEALTH UNINTERCEPTABLE SOLID FUEL ANTISHIP BALLISTIC MISSILE ----- """"" PERSIAN GULF MISSILE """""" -------- THE SUPER WEAPON OF IRAN. ----------- JUST FIRE "THREE" PERSIAN GULF MISSILE FOR EVERY SINGLE NAVY SHIPS OF THE U.S.A. NAVY ""5 TH FLEET"" AND THATS IT. ---------- PERHAPS 15 PERSIAN GULF MISSILE FOR THE BIG BOSS SHIP -- "AIRCRAFT CARRIER SHIP" -- ALONE. --------- THE U.S.A. 5 TH FLEET IS JUST SITTING DUCK FOR IRAN TO KISS THE ASS."

Hello to our latest silly pro-Israel-can do-no-wrong-pro-war shitbird.

Thankfully POTUS Kennedy did not likewise cheaply and stupidly under-estimate nor misunderstand the fearsome capabilities they faced in the technically pitifully backward and ecomically and financially retarded land of Cuba, back in 1962.

For if they had looked at Cuba, in the way you look at and assess Iran, we would already have gotten a 2nd generation of post-WWIII humo-mutants struggling to manually plow their radioactive mid-western fields.

You have no clue at all what the real balance of power is, your hubris blinds you.

The world of the big powers is polarising again, and the Iranian status and its "right to bear arms", in a nuclear-armed pre-emptive-attack world is a catalyst for polarising.

Proxy war will result.

And yes, Iran will be hammered to dust, just like Vietnam was, and like Vietnam, they will hold on, and they will win, if they have proxy support.

And the NWO will make a colossal fortune and will be very pleased indeed.

they could not arm up for such an attack without being noticed...jfc, do you THINK?  You suppose they can mass all these boats with supercavitating torpedos and our spies and satellites won't see it?

At such a turn, the CVN group moves 200 miles offshore...then what?  CVNs are valuable because you can strike hard from them outside the range which you can be struck except by atomic weapons on ballistic missiles.

Even if Iran did manage to engage a CVN group successfully, we have only like what, 10 more of them?  And at that point it would be on.  We have fucking air force bases all over the fucking region.  Naval power like CVNs are useful where nations do not have bases.  We have them in the NEXT COUNTRY OVER, on BOTH SIDES.

Maybe, though China is not going to very happy when the world's largest debtor nation creeps closer to defaulting  by shoveling more borrowed money into a 4th military quagmire. In case you hadn't noticed the USA still the backstop the world economic system and no other wold power seems to be showing themselves to be a better bet that the USA these days.

China rides a knife edge as far as stability goes and could fall into a bloody revolution at any time. If you think that their economy will be saved by making jungle boots and 7.62x39 ammo you're sorely mistaken.  They need us to stay solvent so they can beat us up verbally while selling us our cheap TVs, stereos and kids clothes and toys it to keep their growing population pacified. If we screw the pooch and default... the resulting economic collapse will spin the world into total chaos. At that time all the players may seek to cut their losses with spoils of war.

If you thought more than one foot in front of your face you would have seen my point before shooting your mouth off.

Don't try to win an arguement by putting words into your opponents mouth.  I do business with both Russia and China and my Grandfather provided the poultry stocks for Russia post WWII.  Let me make this as easy for you to understand as possible.  The bankers currently control ALL the armies of the world.  It is NO different in Russia or China as the term "banker" can very easily be replaced with "government".  The end game is very clear - parity and EVERYONE works for Chinese wages.  That is what the owners want.  The U.S. defaulted a LONG TIME AGO.  Everyone coming to the same end game from different directions.  plenty of physical assets on the books of the U.S.A. to appease any REAL Chinese demand.  My apologies if I insulted you but wake the fuck up, we have had one world governence since the creation of the Fed.  This has only been further strengthened through the U.N.

If and when the Chinese let their currency float, then they can be taken seriously.

Yes, excellent point.

America's future depends on the military more than anything else. They're the only ones now who can stop what this criminal imperialistic power-crazed police-state government is doing.

People don't like the idea of a military coup in America. But it's the only way to stop this criminal government from destroying America.

Do a military takeover of DC, arrest the president, his cabinet, his advisors, arrest all 535 members of congress, arrest Bernanke, try them all for treason in military courts, and execute most of them.

That would make Wall Street banker criminals run for the hills fearing for their lives. TBTF Wall Street banks would collapse overnight and be gone in a week.

Shut down the Fed, seize the Fed's gold, seize the Treasury's gold.

Declare FRNs no longer legal tender, issue a new military-controlled gold-redeemable currency at $10,000 per ounce fixed exchange rate to get enough currency in circulation to keep the economy going and prevent wanton currency printing in the future.

Set the FRN to new currency exchange rate at 1 to 7 reflecting the current market price of gold.

Unable to borrow anymore money from the Fed, and being under military control, the US government would collapse down to 1/5 its current size, eliminating all welfare, entitlement, and retirement spending, including social security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. EPA, DOE, HUD, and all other unconstitutional government departments are shut down, including Homeland Security, TSA, DEA, FBI, and other outright treasonous government agencies. IRS is shut down because the Fed is shut down. Taxes are collected by the US Treasury, the constitutional way.

US military bases overseas would be shut down, military forces would be brought home ending the imperialistic invasions and occupations of other nations, and most of them would be released from military service. This would cut the defense budget down to 1/5 its current size.

With the US government reduced to 1/5 its current size, taxes would be cut 50%, no more deficits, no more borrowing, the government lives on tax revenue from now on.

All judges in the federal court system are kicked out and replaced with military judges who know the constitution far better, know the law far better, and will enforce it.

Wall Street bankers lose control over the federal judicial system, giving them more reason to fear for their lives and head for the hills.

And it has to happen before too long. This criminal power-crazed government is meddling in things now that could get our major cities turned to glass and ash.

hand in glove.

The 27-nation bloc last month banned the delivery to Syria’s central bank of bank-notes and coins produced in the EU in a seventh round of sanctions designed to step up economic pressure on President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

The last round also included a ban on European firms making new investments in Syria's oil industry, biting further at Assad’s regime after an earlier ban on imports of Syrian crude to Europe.

Europe buys 95 percent of Syria’s oil exports, providing the regime with one third of its hard currency earnings.

Dipshit - googles your friend I suggest you use it and pick up a newspaper once in awhile.

The US helped immensely at the beginning by launching Tomahawk missles then flew airbone sorties from the 19th March and exited Libya on the 3rd of April handing over command to NATO led by Canada - the US was to remain strictly as a support / intelligence role afterwards but I see from below post that wasn't strictly the case. 26 nations had aircraft in the sky over Libya during that time with the US comprising of half ot total 300 aircraft deployed. Canadian F18's actually flew the majority of missions over Libya as default leaders. Bombing of ground targets continued without interuption till mid October 6 months after the US's exit.

My argument was that NATO can / could enforce it's own no fly zone.

Here's a start

Believe it or not, Obama lied about the US role in Libya:

AFRICOM: AF, Navy still flying Libya missions

By Dave Majumdar - Staff writer
Posted : Thursday Jun 30, 2011 12:33:04 EDT

Air Force and Navy aircraft are still flying hundreds of strike missions over Libya despite the Obama administration’s claim that American forces are playing only a limited support role in the NATO operation.

An Africa Command (AFRICOM) spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that since NATO’s Operation Unified Protector (OUP) took over from the American-led Operation Odyssey Dawn on March 31, the U.S. military has flown hundreds of strike sorties. Previously, Washington had claimed that it was mostly providing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and tanker support to NATO forces operating over Libya.

“U.S. aircraft continue to fly support [ISR and refueling] missions, as well as strike sorties under NATO tasking,” AFRICOM spokeswoman Nicole Dalrymple said in an emailed statement. “As of today, and since 31 March, the U.S. has flown a total of 3,475 sorties in support of OUP. Of those, 801 were strike sorties, 132 of which actually dropped ordnance.”

Obama initially stated we need to establish just a no fly zone so tens of thousands of people don't get killed.

What happened?  Much more than keeping Libyan planes out of the sky as they (NATO which = US) bomb many "targets" that had nothing to do with a no fly zone enforcement.

AND, bonus, tens of thousands of people were killed any way (despite that being the specific rationale for us bombing Libya).

MSM yawns.  Never challenges BHO.  Even declares success.

Not at all.  I just don't believe at this point the false flag is required.  This will simply be another hank paulson emergency that will have to be dealt with by executive order or some other congressional/U.N./NATO trick.  My point is that all of America's supposed "enemies" are also completely on board with this (they both have citizens that need employment as well).  Iran is not buying enough Chinese or Russian or American products to matter to employment in these countries so why not get all the Iranian resources onto the international market for all the big consumer/producer creditor/debtor nations.  China and Russia will say its wrong and be the first in line to purchase the resources/assets.

The end game for TPTB is simple, everyone working for chinese wages, period.  Iran is but another pimple on the ass of a sick customer/producer relationship that has made the world go around for a long time now and kept the NWO in power.  Iran is simply not part of the one world government and their resources are required, so they shall be "liberated."

There's two Americas.  There's the douchebag representatives and corporate elites and then there's the taxpaying citizens that bankroll the former.  The latter is slowly waking up to the fact we are not top dogs. Some of us recognized it a long time ago.  Unfortunately we haven't found the balls to forceibly throw the the former out of the physical land border called America.

It's like a prizefighter taking fight after fight to protect his title.  How long before he runs out of stamina?  Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and many unreported conflicts has to be leading the American armed forces to fatigue.  Utter fucking foolishness.  Eisonhowser must be rolling over in his grave.

In my opinion if attacking Syria draws in Iran this could get ugly really quick.  Israel would likely also be drawn in along with the Turks and Sauds.  How many other countries will join the conflict?  Isn't Hugo Chavez a friend of Iran.  And a little further west, how long before the European Union stops coming up with utter failing policies to address their debt crisis and starts the nationalistic finger pointing followed by armed conflict?  WWII still has to be a fresh memory for some of those countries.   Then China can't be too happy about our announcment to station 2500 Marines in Australia to...

Given our track record for playing world police, I don't think my bets would be good in America as far as "last man standing."  If "the world comes crashing down" as you say, it's probably due to countries lobbing nukes at one another.  Did you have another "crashing down" in mind?  It'd be hard to imagine America not being one of those nuke lobbers.

And if that is the case, the nuclear fallout will be such that any last man standing is like have a winning lottery ticket.  Hmm this is a tough question.  Wait, will there be space colonies on Mars?  If so, that's my final answer.  I'd want to be in a space colony on Mars.  I'd no longer be an American, but a space cadet.

In all seriousness, how old are you?  I ask that, and not to make generalizations, but I generally hear that argument from older Americans who use America's past as the logic for your argument.  Being younger I tend to use the present situation and how it will play into the future of America.  Given our sovereign debt crisis amongst other things, when I judge the future of this nation, we are not the Top Dog.  I'd be interested in hearing a logical argument for how given our current situation, America will still be the Top Dog, 10, 20, 30 years from now.  Our manufacturing base is diminished, our school systems are failures, our military is overextended, the socioeconomic gaps are widening, our corporations and politicians are continuously involved in corruption and on and on.  And I haven't even started to touch the financial and economic issues within the country.

You have a hard case to make brotha for America being the Top Dog, but I'm very interested to see what you can bring to the table.
