Something odd and not quite as planned happened as America grew from its "City on a Hill" origins, on its way to becoming the world's superpower: government grew. A lot. In fact, the government, which by definition does not create any wealth but merely reallocates it based on the whims of a select few, has transformed from a virtually invisible bystander in the economy, to the largest single employer, and a spending behemoth whose annual cash needs alone are nearly $4 trillion a year, and where tax revenues no longer cover even half the outflows. One can debate why this happened until one is blue in the face: the allures of encroaching central planning, the law of large numbers, and the corollary of corruption, inefficiency and greed, cheap credit, the transition to a welfare nanny state as America's population grew older, sicker and lazier, you name it. The reality is that the reasons for government's growth do not matter as much as realizing where we are, and deciding what has to be done: will America's central planners be afforded ever more power to decide the fates of not only America's population, but that of the world, or will the people reclaim the ideals that the founders of this once great country had when they set off on an experiment, which is now failing with every passing year?
As the following video created by New America Now, using content by Brandon Smith whose work has been featured extensively on the pages of Zero Hedge, notes, "we tend to view government as an inevitability of life, but the fact is government is not a force of nature. It is an imperfect creation of man and it can be dismantled by man just as easily as it can be established." Unfortunately, the realization that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and absolute central planning leads to epic catastrophes without fail, seems a long way away: most seem content with their lot in life, with lies that their welfare money is safe, even as the future is plundered with greater fury and aggression every passing year, until one day the ability to transfer wealth (benefiting primarily the uber rich, to the detriment of the middle class which is pillaged on an hourly basis), from the future to the present is gone, manifesting in either a failed bond auction or hyperinflation. The timing or shape of the transition itself is irrelevant, what is certain is that America is now on collision course with certain collapse unless something changes. And one of the things that has to change for hope in the great American dream to be restored, is the role, composition and motivations of government, all of which have mutated to far beyond what anyone envisioned back in 1776. Because America is now saddled with a Government Out Of Control.

Right before BHO was Erected, I was planning on buying two new vehicles( I keep mine a long time), and a new big screen( one I have also getting old). I would be less sure about what soldiers and police won't do. In times of war they have incinerated/destroyed whole cities of "enemy" civilians. As for beating and shooting protestors, well ...
Soldiers and police would primarily be tasked with rounding up "suspected" dissidents and activists, and they already do that. Division of labor removes responsibility at each step of the process. 1) round them up, resistors must be traitors 2) "courts" find the detainees "guilty" or at least suspected of becoming guilty based on classified information 3) turn those "guilty" over to the tender mercies of prison guards at Gitmo and elsewhere.
Sadly, the .001% has armed and convinced a sizable percentage of the lower and middle classes to protect that .001%. They have also convinced a sizable percentage to maintain surveillance of everybody else.
I'm with you rwe2late - the "average US soldier" has shown that following orders is rather high up on their list, and they certainly fire on unarmed citizens in other nationstates - all those who give the orders need do is "re-brand" the target with any number of fancy descriptives - terrorist, activist, whatever - and order will be carried out.
c'mon people, even HERE behind computer screens, there are plenty of people willing to "kill" their fellow citizens, getting "permission" and a weapon will be chaotic, to say the least.

I think the logic can be extended even further. The typical US soldier will assist the unarmed citizen. Blackwater, Xie, whatever TSA fuckstick will be swept away like a cork in the tide. The grand delusion that is government and in America that the Founding Fathers created a government devoted to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness continues to exist and remain the only option for civilized society- that is how well we have been programmed.
One, government is minority rule of the majority for the benefit of the minority. There have never been exceptions to this rule.
Two, banking is a criminal operation that adds neither value nor production of goods to an economy. They exist for the operation of transfering the wealth of the majority to the minority- mostly, the bankers. This is enabled by the institution of government and of course, the control of the currency, ala the FED.
Three, the founding fathers were merchantilists that believed in a superior class to rule the masses. They just wanted to be the ruling class versus the ruling class of England. When power bequethed under the Articles of Confederation proved inadequate, they created the Constitution to guarantee that power, especially through taxation. The original Republic is structured to minimize democracy and protect the wealthy class from their excesses. Whether you look at the Executive, Senate or Judicial branch. The Bill of Rights was supposed to balance these powers, but have, over time, been eviscerated.
Four, the foundation of civilzation is private property and contracts. These two legal entities and the wisdom of the society are sufficient for all the needs of a society.

I am against governement telling me they are saving me by bailing out too big to fail banks. I am against government as a war mongering, fear instilling entity that looks for every opportunity to grab more power and steal more wealth.
