America: A Government Out Of Control

Something odd and not quite as planned happened as America grew from its "City on a Hill" origins, on its way to becoming the world's superpower: government grew. A lot. In fact, the government, which by definition does not create any wealth but merely reallocates it based on the whims of a select few, has transformed from a virtually invisible bystander in the economy, to the largest single employer, and a spending behemoth whose annual cash needs alone are nearly $4 trillion a year, and where tax revenues no longer cover even half the outflows. One can debate why this happened until one is blue in the face: the allures of encroaching central planning, the law of large numbers, and the corollary of corruption, inefficiency and greed, cheap credit, the transition to a welfare nanny state as America's population grew older, sicker and lazier, you name it. The reality is that the reasons for government's growth do not matter as much as realizing where we are, and deciding what has to be done: will America's central planners be afforded ever more power to decide the fates of not only America's population, but that of the world, or will the people reclaim the ideals that the founders of this once great country had when they set off on an experiment, which is now failing with every passing year?
As the following video created by New America Now, using content by Brandon Smith whose work has been featured extensively on the pages of Zero Hedge, notes, "we tend to view government as an inevitability of life, but the fact is government is not a force of nature. It is an imperfect creation of man and it can be dismantled by man just as easily as it can be established." Unfortunately, the realization that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and absolute central planning leads to epic catastrophes without fail, seems a long way away: most seem content with their lot in life, with lies that their welfare money is safe, even as the future is plundered with greater fury and aggression every passing year, until one day the ability to transfer wealth (benefiting primarily the uber rich, to the detriment of the middle class which is pillaged on an hourly basis), from the future to the present is gone, manifesting in either a failed bond auction or hyperinflation. The timing or shape of the transition itself is irrelevant, what is certain is that America is now on collision course with certain collapse unless something changes. And one of the things that has to change for hope in the great American dream to be restored, is the role, composition and motivations of government, all of which have mutated to far beyond what anyone envisioned back in 1776. Because America is now saddled with a Government Out Of Control.

Don't let what Bob or anyone else has to say about OWS guide you. Go to Union Square (or any oposition venue) and feel (it) first hand and then form your own opinion. - the stock market NOT crashing
- gold and silver NOT becoming preeminent
That's a lot of pressure. Think of it. The FED manipulates every single financial market so the status quo goes on - it's an "open secret," so to speak.

On of the things that bothers me is that they can confiscate your house, your food, your water, etc. Many have been prepping for the potential of major problems in the US. But, with the way the Law has been worded they can come and take all of the goods you stockpiled in preparation of a collapse.

What could be more fun and exhilarating than that?
The ridiculous growth also occurs at the local level. My County is fairly large geographically, but not heavily populated. A couple cities of about 10,000 people each, a sprinkling of villages with 200-800 residents each, and a bunch of farms & Martha Stewart Country Living rural homes. The population count hasn't grown much over the past forty-something years. Growing up, the Sheriff's Department split the county into sectors for patrolling. One or two squad cars per sector, and the Deputies shared the cars for their shifts. Each squad had a shotgun in the trunk, a police radio, and a spotlight. The Deputies had service revolvers and big flashlights. Somehow they kept crime from running rampant. Today, the Sheriff's Department has five times as many Deputies. Each Deputy has their own squad car that they take home with them so they're available at all times in case of a crisis. The squad cars have police radios, CB radios, radar detectors, GPS systems, onboard computers, and a bunch of other gadgetry. The interiors look like space shuttle cockpits. The Deputies are armed with tazers, shotguns, fully automatic rifles, Glock pistols, and flash grenades. Maybe other stuff I don't know about. They wear Kevlar vests. The Department has also accumulated a LOT of additional crime-fighting equipment. They've got snowmobiles on trailers in case there's a big blizzard and they need to chase bad guys around on impassible roads. Also trailers full of 4-wheelers in case they need to pursue bad guys off-road. They've got several fully-equipped four-wheel-drive SUV's to pull the snowmobiles & ATV's around on their trailers. And two powerful speed boats in case terrorists infiltrate the local lakes & rivers and pursuit is called for. Also a helicopter and pilot. And two K9 special officers for hunting down Osama Bin Laden in that manner. Plus a million-dollar communication center housed in the new multi-million dollar County Jail building. And a hostage negotiating team. And a HazMat unit with a special $100,000 truck full of gear, in case Sadam Hussein attacks our cornfields with chemical or biological weapons. A full-time School Liaison Deputy. There's more, but you get the picture. Response time is great! If the Sheriff's Department gets a 911 call about suspected kids riding minibikes in the road in sector four-niner-foxtrot, they arrive with two squads and secure the area within ten minutes. They nab mandatory seatbelt scofflaws left and right. Dogs At Large don't remain at large very long, believe me. I feel safer! Having lived in such a system before, I can tell you it's far, far, far worse than you could imagine.

We have this element of Congress that is so digitally illiterate that feels once they make a law that is not digital today, that it will survive businesses who are digitally advanced in running business intelligence algorithms that model and work around certain provisions.
I would like to see Big Data used if nothing else just for querying in Congress, so everyone has the same starting point and they don't do that and all come up with their own source of numbers. Speaking of numbers, they don't lie, but people do.
