America Under Attack: Pictures Of Assault On US Consulate In Libya

Tyler Durden's picture

It has been a long time since US territory abroad, i.e., a US embassy, was openly attacked. It has been even longer, or about 33 years, since a US ambassador was last killed in the line of duty in 1979 Afghanistan. Both happened last night. Below, courtesy of Reuters, are pictures of the event.

Us bloody yanks?  Really?  Obama unconstitutionally and illegally attacked Libya under the guise of legitimacy utilizing NATO, which happned to include lots of men and weaponry from you bloody Brits.  Are you ignorant of NATO involvement?

And yes, most Americans are ignorant.

Sorry I am not Anglo Saxon and yes I agree the British & that Hungarian Frenchman and Italians are also culpable. All out of the same kipper box ! This after the Brits and the US were fawning around Gaddafi's son to get their hands on Libya's sovereign wealth fund. However Goldmansucks managed to lose a great deal of that and the rest is history. The entire Libyan fiasco and the interference by the Banksters and their henchmen is again being played out in Syria. Iraq was the initial training ground.

Glad you could pry your tightly pursed lips from your tea and boyfriend's cock to chime in. You seem to like girth more than lenghth (we'll keep it short) and so this will be ancho as they say in Bolivia. First and foremost, you are a real fucking Gaddafi fan as your repartee harkens back to those halcyon days of Muannmar proffering the Libyan people with the "highest standard of living." Do you have posters of him on your wall or just dried ejaculate on his pics? Did you like his sons' soccer or porn exploits? Would you lenjoy being a Libyan working for dirt while the privaleged post up in the Ritz Carlton in Paris matching ferraris and suits daily? Most statistics I'm aware of portray a pretty bleak picture of life under that Pan-African chieftain and provide a stark contrast to whatever the fuck you are talking about. We kept it civil with that prick but most nations including Britain have wanted him dead at one point or another(I believe there were some cables exchanged over that). So America destroyed Libya? Really. The big bad USA. Was it? No other NATO nations were complicit in the latest round of regime shuffling? Over the years? It was all th USA? Here is what you need to understand: a relatively low level diplomat (if you are big time you get a better assignment somewhere with good private schools) and two marines were murdered ostensibly over a fucking movie by psychos. If that makes you happy then I can't really fuck with you and, moreover wish that your own excrement is fed to you while monkeys rape/disfigure your boyfriend. You can hate America all you want, cheer when Americans get killed, and root for fucking sharia law but that only makes you a dumber motherfucker than the decerebrate that you are (whatever country you are from) and karma is a bitch. Hope you like shopping at Harrods during Ramadan bitch ass.

Two men consentually performing oral sex on each other (Marigold and Gaddafi let's say) isn't violent or even aberrent. There are a ton of fags in the Republican party as far as I can tell and I don't begrudge them for their sexual orientation. Marigold loves dick and there is nothing wrong with chiding him for his proclivity for bathouses and rest stops. If people want to make fun of me for worshipping pussy go ahead. Despite what it seems, I am a champion of gay rights and anything that is an affront to Republicans.

Reality:

“The US ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, has been killed in a rocket attack in the eastern city of Benghazi along with three other embassy staff, the White House confirmed on Wednesday,” reports France 24. However, images released in the hours after the attack show Stevens’ body being paraded around by a mob. The body appears to show signs of torture.

Ambassador Christopher Stevens has some. . . backstory.

He graduated with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1989. He later studied for a Master of Science (M.S.) from the National War College in 2010. He spoke Arabic and French. Prior to joining the United States Foreign Service, he was an international trade lawyer based in Washington, D.C.

Stevens joined the United States Foreign Service in 1991. His previous overseas assignments included: Deputy Principal officer and Political Section Chief in Jerusalem; political officer in Damascus; consular/political officer in Cairo; and consular/economic officer in Riyadh. In Washington, Ambassador Stevens served as Director of the Office of Multilateral Nuclear and Security Affairs; Pearson Fellow with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; special assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs; Iran desk officer; and staff assistant in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

He served twice previously in Libya, as the Deputy Chief of Mission from 2007 to 2009 and as Special Representative to the National Transitional Council from March 2011 to November 2011 during the Libyan revolution. He arrived in Tripoli in May 2012 as the U.S. Ambassador to Libya.[4]

Back in the good old days a decade or so before 9/11 (certain) US Ambassadors could (and would) tool around MENA hotspots in an antique armored Cadillac, with just a driver w/ a concealed sidearm.  But then the actual Embassy was also nothing more than a traditional mudbrick and mortar building downtown.  After 9/11 the armed escort should have increased in proportion to the reinforced steel & concrete fortresses now used.  WHAT WAS THIS CLOWN THINKING?  2-3 escorts, on 9/11?  Look at his resume, he would both remember the good old days and know a lot better.  Something stinks with the official BS.

It was protected by two US Marines who were killed. Media is spinning this one hard.  Two marines died doing their duty and they are referred to over and over as security personal. The ambassador dies of smoke inhalation? Please. Was that while he was in the burning car or in the burning consulate? No mention of how the two marines died, I wonder why?

This is also a consulate, not the embassy. But I have to wonder whether our two marines were allowed to have loaded weapons or not. I am guessing that they didn't. Doesn't appear in any news reports so far that any of the "freedeom fighters" who attacked them were killed.

An American on AMERICAN soil.

For the same reason Julian Assange isn`t now sharing a cell with PFC Manning.

Although it was ironically a Libyan (with a gun) on Libyan soil in London, that led the UK attaching "conditionality" to its recognition of sovereignty.

Why isn`t that banana republic butt wipe on TV condeming the acts in Libya, since he desires his joke of mission in London to also be respected as sovereign soil.

I thought your sweater was merely a, "generous donation," to the President.

After Carter left the presidency, his interest in the developing countries led him to having a close relationship with Agha Hasan Abedi, the founder of Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI). Abedi was a Pakistani, whose bank had offices and business in a large number of developing countries. He was introduced to Carter in 1982 by Bert Lance, one of Carter's closest friends. (Unknown to Carter, BCCI had secretly purchased an interest in 1978 in National Bank of Georgia, which had previously been run by Lance and had made loans to Carter's peanut business.) Abedi made generous donations to the Carter Center and the Global 2000 Project. Abedi also traveled with Carter to at least seven countries in connection with Carter's charitable activities. The main purpose of Abedi's association with Carter was not charitable activities, but to enhance BCCI's influence, in order to open more offices and develop more business. In 1991, BCCI was seized by regulators, amid allegations of criminal activities, including illegally having control of several U.S. banks. Just prior to the seizure, Carter began to disassociate himself from Abedi and the bank.

Let's just keep pretending it's something its NOT! Let's pretend if we replace the black guy with a Mormon, the world will magically fix itself. Let's pretend religion has nothing to do with it, let's pretend oil has everything to do with it, let's pretend our CIA did it, let's pretend the Jews did it,...........there doesn't that feel good!!!! Now we can get back to the football games and fantasy scores!!

But if you want to talk truth, that's much harder, and won't feel quit as good! The truth is, Islam is a world religion, with nearly 2 billion faithful followers, which at its core, is violent, intolerant, and unforgiving to those who question it, challenge it, or don't believe in it!!! It's doctrines, as practiced by muslims outside the US and in perticuliar the middle east, aren't compatable with the founding principles of our nation!!!! Having said that, Muslims, not surprisingly, that are raised inside the US or immigrate hear for political protection, are peaceful and understand the value of our constitution and it's principles!! However, that doesn't change the fact that 2 billion people outside the US, don't believe in the separation of church and state, free speech (including speech that criticizes religion), women's rights, a free press that also can criticize religion, no taxation without representation, and on and on!!!! If Countries are about ideas, and religion is about ideas, then we need to face the reality that, America is at war with radical Islam, as it is being practiced with regards to human rights around the world!!!

Truth 2: American foreign policy over the last 60 years, has been and still is, completely out of sync with the principles of this Country, it's Constitution, and our founding fathers beliefs!!! We are engaging in such hypocrisy with regards to our policies and procedures around the world on a daily basis, drone attacks over sovereign territory, Guantanamo Bay, torture, murder, invasion of Countries, bombing some people and supporting others who have the same ideology, all courtesy of the American taxpayers!!! It's unAmerican what we are doing in the name of America, everyday!!

Truth 3: these two things ARE connected, and have been for over 100 years! You can't claim moral superiority and then exhibit no morality, you can't lead the world toward freedom, liberty, and justice for all, with one hand, and be dropping bombs on children in the name of freedom, liberty, and justice with the other!!! If those ideas of our founding fathers are worth dying for, then we need to practice those principles on a daily basis, in every aspect of our politics, foreign policy, and diplomacy!!

The truth is, we are a weak Country right now because we have abandoned out principles, not the other way around!! We could stand up to radical islam, if we weren't in bed with them for the oil, we could stand up to Iran on nukes, if we weren't allowing Israel to do the same thing and turning a blind eye to it, we could condemn rightly the abuses of women and children around the world, if we weren't dropping bombs on women and children with drones over Countries we are not at war with (supposedly), and torturing, and selling weapons to dictators, and list goes on!

If America is going to be strong again, we need to start by rediscovering ourselves and the values that founded and built this Nation, ovtherwise there is NO difference between us and Iran or the murderous mobs in Libya or anywhere else!!

Agree with the majority of your post, however, TPTB do not want a strong America, it simply doesn't fit into their plans. The banksters that run the show have no loyalty to any nation.

The challenge for us is to figure out how to change their plans.

On another note:  I have been on "guard" duty in the USMC in the jungle of the Phillipines "guarding" a broken down helicopter, guess what weapons our fearless leaders left us with: Zilch!  Yup, only had our KBar knives.

So, if there indeed were two Marines on "guard" duty, they most likely had empty weapons.  WTF?  It should be no wonder why a large portion of Marines end up being Libertarian.

mebbe head over the "male jobs" threads, both the weekend and yesterday, to see just where the amrkn "values" are with regards anyone not white, and male.

However, that doesn't change the fact that 2 billion people outside the US, don't believe in the separation of church and state, free speech (including speech that criticizes religion), women's rights, a free press that also can criticize religion, no taxation without representation, and on and on!!!! separation of church and state?  that's waaaay down the list of amrkn values, almost non-existant within voter's minds. . . women's rights are apparently a Zionist plot to overthrow men's gawd-given rights, and "taxation without representation" is a huge myth, as is a "free press". . .and PLEASE don't get me started about "human rights" when speaking about the amrkn war machine, sooo profitable.

"America" is at war with it's MYTH, and the war is still being fought in the minds of everyone. . . I'm thinking some are losing that war, as evidenced by the majority posters. . .

Anybody climbing the embassy walls should have gotten turned to confetti with heavy machine gun fire. This hands off polictally correct approach when dealing with emabassy security is a joke. The rest of the world is laughing at us. Treat savages like savages and keep the communication simple and blunt.

The security here was Blackwater dudes, bad ass, been through most ALL Spec Ops progs, and are VERY well trained.I seriously doubt any heavy machine guns were available, either way they won't overcome RPG's,esp if there are many fired.

They fired OVER the heads of the mob at first, no word on any radical casualties.

I agree totally w/ your assessment, but my blame for this lies squarely at the feet of the Libian forces in charge.THEY Should have been the one's shooting the radcals.

If this were to happen everytime this crap starts, it would soon be a non starter.

They get all riled up whenever there's any negative potrayal of their shady prophet. I don't think that general portrayal is misinfo. Do you?

And IF it IS true, then, well, it's tough to support.

If they were pissed about something else, and they may well be, that's another matter for a different type of discussion. But the idea that Islam is some cool religion of peace is kind of skewed, eh?

Speaking by phone from an undisclosed location, the writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, describing Islam as "a cancer". The 56-year-old said he had intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.

Bacile, a California property developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew, said he believed the movie would help his native land by exposing Islam's flaws to the world.

"Islam is a cancer, period," he said repeatedly.

The two-hour movie, Innocence of Muslims, cost $5m (£3.1m) to make and was financed with the help of more than 100 Jewish donors, said Bacile, who wrote and directed it.

One of the fundamental differences between The West and The Middle East is the concept of free speech.  Free speech is often used to lambast the sacred cows of society, also functioning as a pressure valve, which can be healthy.  In The Middle East, there has been much less exposure to this concept - whether it is criticism of the state or criticism of religion.  If the state employs violence for criticism of it (which it does), or Muslims employ violence for criticism of their faith (which they do), the region may as well forget about democracy or any sort of open society.  Of course, this is precisely what many of them have been telling us for decades - that they do not want it.  Fine.  They do not, however, then get the right to don The Victimization Hat and insist that the rest of the world is trying to destroy them once their society unravels.  They need only look to Israel to understand how disgusting an overdeveloped sense of victimization corrupts and destroys a society.  The West, for all of its flaws and corruption, at least has gone through reformations that have countered these tendencies.  Islam has never had this.  It is why you do not see Americans storming embassies or killing people over here when "offensive" cartoons or movies are made over there.  If they want to storm our embassies or kill Americans, it should be out of desperation in confronting our foreign policies, not because some artist or pastor in America non-violently criticizes their ideology.

The Assange affair is quite a bit different than this.  Most glaringly, The U.S. is not employing violence on Assange or Australian diplomats.

Because we are talking about freedom of speech, it is not something that is achieved, never having to fight for it again.  We certainly have backsliding in the West and I'm all for fighting the tendencies in the U.S. to encroach on those freedoms (including in the case of Assange).  But I see a difference between an element of a society launching an armed attack on a foreign embassy, murdering officials for a social criticism stated by another citizen in a different country, and Assange being sought for extradition to face charges for publishing a bunch of dispatches that did not belong to him.
