Anonymous Hacks Greek Ministry Website, Demands IMF Withdrawal, Threatens It Will Wipe Away All Citizen Debts

Tyler Durden's picture

If there is one war that Greece could not afford to join, that is with the global computer hacking collective known as Anonymous. Yet as of minutes ago, that is precisley what happened, after Anonymous, as part of what it now calls Operation Greece, took down the Greek Ministry of Justice ( While the pretext for the hacking appears to have been an arrest of the wrong people, is seems to have angered Anonymous to the point where they have left an extended message of demands on the Greek website, warning that unless the IMF withdraws from the country and the government resigns, all debts of Greek citizens will be wiped clean.

Translated from the Greek:

     Citizens of Greece

     We are Anonymous.
We watch every day your government abolishes the constitution and institutions of the country.
We see them leading you closer and closer to poverty.
We see them pass laws that deprive you of any right to dignity.
We see them and deliver the country to the IMF and the bankers.
We know about the soup kitchens in schools,
for people who are left jobless and now wait in queues for a plate of food.
We know that your country voted ACTA in your effort to silence and other Greeks.
We know everything ...
The Republic in Greece has died.
He died while a government that has not been elected by the people.
And for this reason that the time for discussion came and went.
Not negotiating anything with any of those who murdered him.
Can you hunt as you like, you can even capture some of us,
When you attempt to silence us ...
But for every one that will capture 3 others will spring up. There are 5 or 10 or 100.
Now the Greeks are all Anonymous.
We are millions against you and the 300 in this war tear gas will not help you.

     Occupying Government of Greece
These days are going to vote for a bill that will be the last nail in the coffin of the Greek.
A bill to return the country to a totalitarian rule.
To bring the country and its people in absolute poverty.
We will not allow another misery to the Greek people.
We demand your resignation immediately, and elections.
We demand not paid a cent to moneylenders 'friends' you.
We demand the immediate withdrawal of the IMF from Greece.
The Justice Department was only a small sample of what we're capable of doing
Even you have not seen the full wrath of Anonymous.
For each article of a bill that would shame the vote,
we will shut the system and deleting an Inland Revenue debts of Greek citizens
Debts which requires them to fascist pay.
Can the demonstrations of the Greeks to their encounter with incredible violence,
anexelekta hitting, but the internet is our field. And I love this war.
We are many and we will be brief.

Citizens of Greece, Anonymous is now fighting on your side ...

Government of Greece, let us wait ...

     E X P E C T  U S !

     J U S T I C E  I S  C O M I N G !

I'm going to wait to applaud yet another self-appointed group who has decided they know what's best for everybody else.  Seems everybody thinks himself a god and is anxious to demonstrate his parlor tricks.  Such beliefs haven't exactly made the world a better place in the past.  The corruption of power and all that.  Oh yeah, Anonymous would be the first humans in history not to abuse whatever power they amass.  Sorry, but I won't be fooled again.

Now if they transfer all the Greek debt to the emptied bank accounts of Tim Geithner, Jamie Dimon and Lloyd Blankfein, I may rise for a standing ovation or at least a good laugh.  Until then, it's just another guy comparing dicks in the locker room expecting everyone to be impressed.

There is a corner of me that has these kinds of thoughts too. I hear you loud and clear. I just wonder if this isn't the way of it, that some folks have some huge egos, want to flex, and that is how the "oppressors" change. I know it sounds fucked up.

Some of the posts here talk about a very democratic seeming process, where they (the hackers) all have a voice and individuals make a choice on what they feel like doing. If enough make the choice, it happens. If not enough make the choice, it happens lamely. If none do it, it does not happen.

But yeah, I don't have their skill set. I am really easy to fuck over because of it (you know personally just how dippy I am with computers, I, for chriminey's sake, tell the truth when I don't need to and don't know better). They can use that (lack of skillz) against most of us (unless they are full of shit and only able to do DOS attacks). All of us would feel unsafe and at their mercy.

Hope you are well and the folks around you safe in these odd ball times.

Words! Nothing but words! They may be able to bring down Homepages and some servers, but I doubt that they would be able to do any real damage to a bank. Just think about it: Banks have so many fail safes compared to a normal website. All their databases have to be redundant. Maybe they could do a DOS attack on some services but they wouldn't be able to touch any bank account or data related to Greek debt.

Why? Simple: If they could do as they say, they would prove it. It's as simple as that. What do we have? Nothing but smart words on a wall. How about some bank account numbers or anything that would prove the claims? Nothing.

"Let each man be judged by his deeds".

@Annonymous: If anyone of you reads this: Guys it is about time that you get your act together, don't you think??? If you actually CAN do something except for making hallow statements, then JUST DO IT. Hasn't this whole crap gone far enough? We all know Orwell's 1984, right? Well guys, it's 2012...

The warning is so the Greek Govt. can hastily move back up data to more remote regions/locations that Anon' cannot reach.  But of course, they'll be taking a Trojan Horse with them that will ultimately give Anon' access into the deep regions of that govt. with ease.  Anonymous is playing a game of chess here and the Greek Govt. will play right into their hands.

google: bank database breach

Assumption is that action is necessary.  This is an IDEA.  You can't kill an idea.

TPTB have been controlling us through IDEAS.  Clearly we've heard the refrain of "it's about confidence."  I suggest that this ISN'T a confidence builder for TBTB's System.

Yeah, all "sides" are trying to leverage things, that's human nature.  Somewhere along the line our confidence in the existing System WILL collapse, it's just a matter of time before the REAL controlling forces apply themselves: Mother Nature bats last.

What will be most telling is what unfolds in the near term. Wouldn't it have been more effective to make at least a token effort?  A sort of statement of intentions?  It sends a clear message if you carry out some of your stated goals.  When you simply make a threat, you've given opportunity to enhance countermeasures, etc.  If you don't follow through, and the net result is making security tighter (and/or giving easy justification for new legislation), what's being gained?  Youv'e potentially added obstacles, and made your goals more difficult to attain.

Perhaps Anonymous is the manifestation of the matrix where the system itself becomes conscious and begins to purge from within those elements poisonous to the system itself.

Okay, probably not, but that still paints a good analog for the human collective consciousness which Anonymous is most likely a reflection of.

Why the preamble?  This is like watching a movie where the villain has to give an hour long monologue before he/she decides to actually get around to doing the deed.  In which time the good guy has time to get away, sleep with the girl, get drunk, blow up half a continent, take a nap and then get around to killing the villain before said deed is executed.

A Better translation from Greek, by me, below:

"For each article of a bill that would shame the vote,
we will shut the system and deleting an Inland Revenue debts of Greek citizens
Debts which requires them to fascist pay."

"For each article of this shamefull bill which it will be voted, we will shut down one by one the system of an IRS Section, deleting-writing off the greek citizens debts. Debts which you in a fascist way yo demand to pay"

"Can the demonstrations of the Greeks to their encounter with incredible violence,
anexelekta hitting, but the internet is our field. And I love this war.
We are many and we will be brief."

"During the demonstrations you encounter the Greeks with increased violence, hitting without remorse, the internet is our field of battle. And we love this kind of warfare. We are many and we will be brief. Justice is coming."

Viva Anonymous!

Hey, the new Robin Hood, Spartacus, Cartouche, all rolled into one.

My favourite Anonymous was Arnaud de Brescia, he chased the Pope from ROme in 1154, ironically the ONLY English Pope in History : Nicolas Breakspeare,  for being a Religious fascist; after having succeeded in declaring Rome a Republic! In 1148!

Poor Arnold got his come-uppance in 1155 when the Emperor, at war with Pope, decided to occupy Rome and burn Arnaud as felon. But he was the true son of Abelard, the father of french scholastic reform; nominalist, who said : to believe one must first understand (dogma)... And the reformist movement never stopped as it would subsequently blossom over six centuries, (whew), bringing down Papal theocracy, eventually.
