Appeasement Arrives: Joint US-Israel Exercise Postponed For "Budget Reasons", US Will Not Enforce No Fly Zone Over Syria
First we had news that out of the blue, the Western embargo against Iranian oil exports would be delayed by 6 months, and now, in the aftermath of last night's developments out of Iran which blamed the CIA for the murder of its nuclear scientist we get this (from Bloomberg):

- EXERCISE WAS TO TAKE PLACE IN NEXT FEW MONTHS, RADIO SAYS
And just so it doesn't look like a total cave in:

As a reminder Iran made it very clear an escalation in joint US-Israel war game cooperation would be met with yet another miliary exercise out of Iran.
And in other news, in response to the latest discovery that Russia not only was using Syrian ports to park its military ships, but to supply the locals with ammunition we get this:

Put a no-fly zone over Syria and see if Russia doesn't deliever a few S-300 mobile anti aircraft missile systems to Syria. Or have they already and this is why the no-fly zone is not flying?
I admit surprise that US and Israel have put off their joint anti missile exercise. Budget reasons? When at least 600-700 billion in direct military spending by the US is done every year? There is clearly a lot more to this story. Have negotiations opened between Iran and USA/Israel? Secret of course, but neither side can afford this war now, putting it off is vital to all concerned. Someone just blinked maybe?

A "no fly zone" does nothing to protect civilians who are victims of ground attacks unless it permits air-to-ground strikes. If and when the Syrian resistance becomes more organized and better armed, Assad will resort to CAS and air power making a traditional no fly zone effective.
Syrians managed to supply Hezbollah well enough to kick the shit out of Israel when the Israelis invaded Southern Lebanon.
Don't think the Syrians and Hezbollah are not getting lots of help from Russia and China.

They must travel around the souterhern tip of Malayasia through the straight of Malacca, into the Indian ocean to head into the Arabian Sea. The Lincoln's role is to follow standing orders. As it stands they are headed west, ostensibly in continuance of their "around the world" cruise which will end in Norfolk, Virginia. Eventually.
As long as the Stennis and the Vincent are in the Arabian Sea, 15K troops are deployed in Israel, 15000 are deployed in Kuwait, and a third Carrier group is headed towards the Arabian Sea, I am keeping my eyes and ears open.
