From Arab Spring To Greek Autumn To European Winter
Yesterday in Tunis:
Today in Greece - A man pours a flammable liquid on his body to set himself on fire outside a Piraeus bank branch in Thessaloniki in northern Greece September 16, 2011. The 55-year old man had entered the bank and asked for a renegotiation of his overdue loan payments on his home and business, according to police, which he could not pay, but was refused by the bank (Reuters).
Tomorrow in Europe:

Talk about making an ash out of yourself!
Gotta respect the human torch.
did he lose a bet?
His last words were 'FUCK IT!'
Why wouldnt you burn the ECB down before lighting yourself on fire...?
The Epsilons are rioting. Must double check those bokanovskified eggs.

One is the act of a defeated man, the other is an act of a courageous man.
TPTB prefer the former.
Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul.

yup. burn 'em.
"It's better to light a candle than curse the darkness." - Eleanor Roosevelt
It helps if you have a match. And a candle for that matter. And you can find them, in the darkness, which you're cursing.
I am Chumbawamba.
I would rather see a picture like this

What beautiful artwork!
Where can I buy it?
With Silver of course.
E-Bay.
the artist live in LA. he wants far too much for it right now.
there's a sort of 'novelty' premium attached to it.
chumbawamba,
pretty damn good, if i do say so. i think socrates said something similar to meno; or maybe i have my symposiums mixed up -- it happens.
neverthelss, i like yer style.

chumba
i think im going to get mileage from that quote.
WOW, THAT WAS HEAVY!
Aside: a lot of gun control quotes attributed to Nazis are bogus (or at the very least poorly documented). Not sure about the Himmler one, but it sounds too perfect to be genuine.
You are correct. They like to make up quotes that say what they want the Nazis to say.
Here is one from Unknown:
Start a fire, keep a man warm for an hour. Start a man on fire, keep him warm for life.
I agree. I'm sick of all this Nazi bashing.
When there is a government that does horrible things, comprised of people who are behind these things, it is very good to expose it as often as possible.
However, when TPTB make up quotes, make up atrocities, make up or distort history, they cast doubt on the things that did actually happen, the things that were actually written, said, done. When we repeat these false things, we aid and abet the distortion of history.
Nazi has become the boogieman. Hitler has become a cartoon.
Hitler was a bad man. Stalin was a bad man. Mao was a bad man. FDR was a bad man.
Hitler invaded other countries, he put people he deemed 'lesser' in slave labor camps, including German homosexuals, handicapped, mental retards and defectives, Jews, political opponents, etc. In Poland he filled the slave labor camps with Polish Roman Catholics, Gypsies, Jews. Once worked out, or deemed unable to work, they were killed. Or they died from malnutrition, working to death, various plagues and illnesses.
Let us try to stick to the truth about them [Stalin, Hitler, Mao, FDR], and we will do a service for humanity. Lies are lies, no matter who you are making them up about.
Example: we have heard over and over and over about the Jews dying in the death camps, movie after movie after movie and books and magazines and on and on.
Where is the movie about the millions of Polish Roman Catholics who died in those slave labor camps? Did they deserve to die? Why does Hollywood lie by omission? Polish Christians are not worth as much as Jews?
Only one documentary I can find about how Stalin starved the Ukrainians to death. Made in a liberated East Bloc country. I guess the Jews that run Hollywood only find Nazis killing Jews worth making a movie about, millions of dead Christians in the Ukraine is of no interest to them.
When they finally did make a movie about the resistance in the Ukraine, it was about the Jews. Not the rebel Army that fought Stalin under the Black Flag until into the 1950's. Nope. No Jews involved.
Making up false quotes about Nazis isn't Nazi bashing, it is called lying. You pro-lying, A.W.E.S.O.M.-) 4000?
Why don't we claim the Nazis put he Americans of Japanese decent into Concentration Camps? They deserve it, right? If I said they were behind FDR doing that, and you said it was incorrect, would that make you a defender of Nazis?
You are a brainwashed drone I think.
You make a very good point, but you may have missed an implied /sarc tag. Recall the classic exchange between "Jiminy Glick" (Martin Short) and Mel Brooks:
JG: What's your… what's your big beef with the Nazis?
MB: What's my big beef?!
JG: Yes, it seems like you're always knockin'…
MB: What's my big beef with the Nazis?!
JG: Everything you do, you're always knockin' the Nazis. "Oh, let's… it's time for Mel Brooks to knock the Nazis", it seems.
MB: Oh, I don't know, I think they're rude.
You may not be in the mood for that sort of thing, but I think that's what was intended.
Than you for this great post.
Hollywood can't make a movie about soviets killing people because most of people controlling soviet union were Jews.
The history of WWII makes more sense if put in proper context of Zionism.
Jews in Europe were an intellectual elite of Jewish world, and they were against Zionism because it is against their religion to fight actively to reestablish holly land.
Jews in USA were the financial elite and have seen great interest in active fight and of course in borrowing fiat money to both sides.
WWII solved this great conflict.
Inhale some Zyklon-B.
all sentiments i share, Mr. Howard.
i'll only add that you forgot about nazi persecution of seventh day adventist, gypises, 'slavs', etc. ad infinitum.
the great crime of fascism (corporatism) is its lust for uniformity. this is the devil of our modern age: the compulsion to compel conformity, wherever deviation from the 'norm' occurs.
it is my mission to 'liquidate' normalizers -- a genocide of the 'gentrifiers'; hopefully, i won't have to actually follow through. for now, we shall only warn them.
there is a black flag risin from the capstone of the new ediface.
so, yes, common man, an auto-de-fe everday may not keep tptb at bay; but it will signal something clear and resonate to satan: TAKE US FUCKING SERIOUSLY BEFORE WE START DRAGGIN YOU FROM YOUR HOMES AND LIGHTING YOU ON FIRE!!!
everyday my bloodlust grows.
every single day.
give up now, tptb.
i hear you gordon brown; i hear you jimmy carville.
i say MORE!
i say ALL!
i say NOW!

No way do I burn myself to death. I am WAY too wimpy for THAT one.
no kidding, thomas...
MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.....
Austerity by the public is what is going on, while Manuel "please-dont-do-anything-to-change-my-life-style" Baroso and his crony friends continue to blow huge amounts of cash on meetings, five star travel, and pointless regulations.
but to burn yourself. NO WAY, greco, NO WAY.
This sums it up pretty well.
Greece under Dictatorship

It's better to burnout than the fade away....
Why do Americans care we have killed 50,000 people in Libya, whats one more, fuck him, hope he gets a ticket for having a fire in a public place. Still paying taxes then you are complicit
Canada is complicit as well - Oh ya Nato!
Ticket him for burning trash without a permit.
actually, that was pretty funny - in an insensitive way. Still, funny!
Ur way too hot too. Would be a shame. Maybe if you just burned your dick off?
Seriously? Huh. Note to self--never make a dick joke in a tranny thread...
What a painful way to go
Best to start randomly grabbing bankers and dousing them!
Might not be far off.

Let's not forget the "Days Of Rage" are supposed to start on Wall Street 2morrow. Although I think the police state will show up quite quickly in NYC should banksters feel threatened. Banksters own that town.
Oh yes and Mr. Mayor has been proactive -why exactly did this come out today - not being cynical but hell I should have thought of it!
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/09/16/2011-09-16_mayor_bloomberg_predicts_riots_in_the_streets_if_economy_doesnt_create_more_jobs.html
NY Mayor Creates Self Fulfilling Prophecy.
read all about it......
Maybe the Mayor is warning the city that there will be riots in the upcoming months.
Maybe he's signaling that the city will be more tolerant if people choose to rally to express discontent.
Maybe he's signaling that it's understandable people will want to protest because they're upset.
Time to show the footsoldiers there's something more frightening than unemployment or a lost pension.
Sounds like a 'hot' trend to start on wall street.
go LONG on kerosene?
People jumped out of the World Trade Centers to avoid burning to death.
I'm with you on that, not the way I want to go!
I don't care wherther the banksters burn or jump, as Nike says "Just Do It"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yge311sFhC8
No shit, that has to be the worst way to go.
Followed closely by being eaten alive.
My Father burnt himself to death in act of political protest.
OK, he got drunk and fell asleep with a lit cigarette. But it's close.
Tx Fuu for the memory. saw the guys white car either in Saigon or Hanoi a few years ago....
Nobody can understand all the dynamics that brought him to this, but you can empathize and understand a lot of how the emotions were formed.
It’s happened here, too.
Remember?

Seems they all have the same need: Justice. Good look with that one. Go long matches.
people are running out of options, and don't know what to do... i would suggest that the can of gasoline could have a far better use on certain "institutions" and "people" that are really behind disaster taking place around the world.
more and more people will keep doing this, suicide by some dramatic fashion (setting themselves on fire).
As more and more people realise that doing this won't bring on a 'European Spring', they will turn to taking other people along with them.
This will be termed 'terrorism', and the governments will take away what little liberties everyone has left to combat this terrorism.
Amen. Rage turned inwards. Fucking horrifying. The whole fucking thing.
But I just don't get it. I have faced a number of crises since I was a young child. and am still alive. Life is so much better than death regardless of your personal situation. Maybe these people have a pre-conditioned idea as to what life should be like. Cog diss? You can always find something to make you smile whether an email from a child or someone holding the door open for you. I find this type of thing - don't understand.
I don't understand either and I find this kind of behavior very frightening. I find it tragic for him, his family, and his community. These kinds of actions challenge my beliefs about what being human is - or means. I don't want to believe that life is that worthless - his life, my life, anybody's life.
I still prefer to believe sometimes against all odds.

Thnx for that.
Bob
I can't find anywhere in the MSM that this is being covered.
I know who owns them, and that I shouldn't be surprised, but it still gets me from time to time.
Why would it be? After all, Beyonce bought a new hat.
well, the gurl gotta accessorize, don't she?

Maybe he lost everything, his house, his money, his pension, and his family. What makes him different that the rest of us shmucks? This guy did something, in USA we go crazy, and have guns out the wazoo. NOW if the guy was a banker I would say I would say balancing his karma
Remember?
I had forgotten. Fuck me.
That was a horrifying read. Thanks for posting it.
Tom Ball was a desperate man. I am sorry that his sacrifice didn't get more notice. The welfare state and police state go hand in hand.
didn't someone tell him to burn the bank instead...
I think Billy the Kid had a better way of dealing with the banks. He knew THEY were the real criminals.
Billy the Kid did not deal with banks. He was a foot soldier in a range war.
You may mean Jesse James, and he wasn't exactly a moralist.
Good afternoon, Mr Amer. Everything is going extremely well.
Open the QE3 doors, please, Hal.

Miami Herald just posted.
Miami Herald snooping on ZH?
i hope so, that way they can report real news
You're sick. Funny - but sick.
So that's how you put out a Greece fire!
[and I'm out!]
He should have poured the flammable liquid on the Branch Manager.
He wanted to go out with some drama, not a 40 caliber round to the forehead.
You gotta love conceal and carry here in the states. Never leave home without it is my MO now. And I'd defend any innocent passersby given the chance so should you ever feel so brave to go after someone in a public place, remember we be packin'.
!! yeah. The textbook on the subject is "Man against himself" by Menninger, of the eponymous clinic. It;s extremely educational.
I am the first to advocate humor in the face of tragedy, but looking at the pictures and imagining the pain -- both physical and emotional -- makes it difficult to laugh at this. This is a small business owner, folks. Many here have advocated for him in the abstract. Here's a real human fucked by the oligarchs and/or bad circumstances.
Your empathy doesn`t register with psychopaths, for them suffering is as much a spectator sport as pleasure. Alternately, laughing at tragedy could be a defense mechanism...

why didnt he do this INSIDE the bank?
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
some like it hot
