Banks And The "Whole Democracy Thing" In 90 Seconds Or Less

Tyler Durden's picture

90 seconds that describes the sad reality of US banking and politics - in Dr.Seuss style prose.

"Now cabbies and crop-pickers will pick up the slack; your taxes will bring the bankers right back;

where we'll keep spreading our good news, of deregulation and free market views - 'We know what we're doing, just stop with the rules!'"

"Now we're buying both sides to do our good bidding; That whole Democracy thing? Surely You're Kidding"

That bothers me too. "Regulation" will be the next great pre-election meme:

"We [bankster-controlled agencies] didn't regulate YOU enough before; we need EVEN MORE POWER!"

So goes the progression from so-called "Democracy" to the new eco-socio-fascist-we-know-better-than-you-with-a-dash-of-green authoritarian mobocracy.

Heaven help us. Things have not yet begun to get truly nuts.

"The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later, is the people versus the banks." - Lord Acton 1834-1902.

"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the republic is destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln

"Banking was conceived in inequity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the ability to create money and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But if, you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own salary, let them continue to create money." - Sir Josiah Stamp, Director of the bank of England in 1928, reputed to be the 2nd wealthiest man in England at the time.

In today's America, a shocking 500,000 small businesses are created every year. At this rate, and with potential layoffs in government regulators, the number of small businesses per government regulator is set to soar.  The recent surge in so called "innovative" business apps like "salesforce" and "google cloud connect" have only exacerbated the problem. This is not something nerdy libertarians want to hear, but this figure simply has to be reduced to a more manageable level, or we risk having a total wild west type economy with businesses literally hiring and selling at their own discretion. We need to rethink the way we structure society in America. Government regulators are literally drowning in red tape and we simply have to reduce the number of small businesses to a more sustainable level.

You're partly right MDB.

But what we really need is a system to get rid of babies and young infants that can't fend for themselves.  Just imagine how much more productive the taxpaying mothers of this fine nation would be if they weren't burdened with the trivialities of their needy children.  This, I think, will expand government coffers and allow more useful people like Larry Summers to be hired on at the executive branch level.  This is sound fiscal policy and, quite frankly, I'm surprised that Larry hasn't proposed this already.  Perhaps he is over worked, as his picture clearly shows that he is tired.

Excerpt from Anthem by Ayn Rand:
Before we removed all our garments, we stood in the great sleeping hall, and we raised our right arms, and we said all together with the three Teachers at the head:

“We are nothing. Mankind is all. By the grace of our brothers are we allowed our lives. We exist through, by and for our brothers who are the State. Amen.”
- Anthem, Ayn Rand

Of which is not much different from...
http://www.dollarvigilante.com/blog/2012/5/30/the-triumph-of-modern-schooling-academia.html

We stood in the government school room facing the United States flag, with our right hands over our hearts, and we said all together:

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

The propaganda drilled into the future livestock/slaves of America from their years in Statist public schools tells you to make sure you pledge your allegiance to the State. Mooo! We get to grow up to be milked or slaughtered for meat. But for now, get back into your cage!

It is a Democratic Republic.

My prefered state is a free state, that is a capitalist anarchic state - I dont think im the only one here on ZH.

Switching to anarchy isnt going to be easy, and there is an entrenched pile of scum who will resist - but it is the ultimate solution to basically all the major problems.  It doesnt mean there wont be problems, but it does mean that people have a better chance of having some control over their own lives at least.

"MDB is a moron."

MDB just uses the words that TPTB use in their own minds.

What is so striking is not MDB's satirical articulations, but rather the stark realization that some people actually formulate and adhere to a belief in that garbage and give it merit.

MDB's worth lies in his/her ability to see those ridiculous concepts clearly enough to reduce them to words for others to gaze upon and gawk at the sheer braindeadness of their folly.

Me thinks many may not see the brilliance hidden behind the mask.

I just wish most Presidential candidates were forced to use MDB for a speechwriter. At least that way their words would finally match their intentions.

When i hear "democracy" I think of Ben Franklin's quotes below..

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.

Where liberty dwells, there is my country.

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Democracy

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Widely attributed to Benjamin Franklin on the internet, sometimes without the second sentence, it is not found in any of his known writings, and the word "lunch" is not known to have appeared anywhere in english literature until the 1820s, decades after his death. The phrasing itself has a very modern tone and the second sentence especially might not even be as old as the internet. Some of these observations are made in response to a query at Google Answers.
In 1992, Marvin Simkin wrote in Los Angeles Times,
Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote.[1]
A far rarer but somewhat more credible variation also occurs: "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner." Web searches on these lines uncovers the earliest definite citations for such a statement credit libertarian author James Bovard with a similar one in the Sacramento Bee (1994):
"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner."
This statement also definitely occurs in the "Conclusion" (p. 333) of his book Lost Rights: The Destruction of American Liberty (1994) ISBN 0312123337
Variants of this statement include that by Larry Flynt, as quoted in "Flynt's revenge" by Carol LLoyd in Salon (23 February 1999)]:
Majority rule will only work if you're considering individual rights. You can't have five wolves and one sheep vote on what they want to have for supper.

This system is a complete joke, but it's precisely because of not because of a lack of too much government.

Very true...but the part about politicians doing the bidding of their corporate masters is spot on.

Government regulations have largely been about restricting competition. The well connected corporations do well, while the smaller businesses suffer.

The history of the United States is rife with corruption (including selective enforcement of regulations) and influence peddling.

We need LESS central government and MORE enforcement of current regulations.

And the bankers are delighted to enable their political whores to spend, spend, spend and promise the goodies.

On the other side of the trough are the lobbyists who need the extra cash so their industries can line their pockets with the freshly created funny money or Benny Bucks.

Sure, blame the welfare recipients who are kept stupid and enslaved to the system by design. Whose families have fallen apart because it suited the banksters to have everyone employed and everyone on credit and everyone equally broke - except for THEM.

Why is the Dollar pretty much worthless, because it is worth less and less? Is the top 1% poorer with the same worthless Dollar or do they always have more than enough to keep up with inflation but the 99% need to borrow, borrow and borrow some more just to survive?

Banks have power because of govt. You're confusing cause and effect. Govt creates demand, banks fulfil the demand. ie govt is the source of the problem. He is right.

No, he is wrong, as are you.

Governments are dependent on funding and made up of people that need funding to populate it.

The banks control the currency and the interest rates. They lobby to procure pliable politicians. They use their influence to direct the power of the State for their own purposes. For example, the voters were against bailouts for banks, but we got them anyway. Prosecutions? Not seeing much of that either.

Government is the problem in the sense that ANY government is a problem. Why? Because it allows people with the means to create the best environment to succeed AT THE EXPENSE OF EVERYONE ELSE. However, having a central banking system with legal tender laws is the ultimate in financial tyranny- brought to you by BANKS.

A small group of people's philosophy empowers government. At no point in the history of the US have the "people" empowered government. Even the Constitution was a document formed against the will of the people (The Articles of Confederation were never rescinded) and by a distinct minority that represented landed gentry- composed of between 3 ans 12% of the population ( The Economic History of The Constitution of The United States).

The distribution of funding is a result of the ever increasing fascist State, beginning with Roosevelt. The growth of social spending is balanced with the expenditure for the military industrial complex to benefit the people that pay the highest percentage of taxes. While the bankers preside over the collection of debt interest.

Government, as a form of social contract has ALWAYS been a failure for the People, but a huge benefit for the wealthy. Please present an example of another result.

It is the incredible ignorance and naivete of people like you that are the problem. Now wipe that banker cum off your face.

Actually, they forced everyone to vote for EITHER Gore or Bush, Kerry or Bush, McCain or Soetero. This is how the parties are structured, if you want to be the candidate that is supported by the party, then you must get the party's approval. As that approval is determined by the banksters that pay the way, then yes, they did force it.

An appropriate example is the shenanigans at the Louisiana Party convention concerning the Ron Paul delegates.

While it is a half truth to blame the people for being misinformed, it is made more difficult by the degree of propaganda practiced within society at large and through the education system. The People's ignorance is irresponsible, but with a caveat.

The banker's full knowledge and machinations within the system, their effect on legislation and regulation, is not the fault of people without the means nor intelligence to play the game. The bankers could have made different choices, but they CHOSE not to. They chose to put themselves before the country and the world.

Save your blathering, sycophantic, banker blowjob for your bosses.

Please find a poll or study anywhere that demonstrates your hypothesis. The People are incapable of understanding your premise. The redistribution is a function of tax law and the antics of the Treasury (As run by the NY FED). As the Elites create the tax law (Please find citizens capable of waxing on about tax law), they are the ones redistributing.

Since much of the redistribution is to bankers or stock and bond holders (which involves only 20% of the People, but is concentrated in the top 5%, it is impossible for the people to be the cause of the problem.

You cannot deal with reality, because it doesn't allow you to place yourself above a part of the population, ala white trash. It is the heavily dependent entitlement receivers that provide voter support for the corporate welfare programs that protect large companies and BANKS, created by the politicians they own.

Or that all the FDA regulators now fully occupied by Monsanto schills are going to make your food safe?

These guys can not be fired, why would they care? Just as civil a servant as the best donut eating, student pepper spraying cops.

When asked they can probably not even name one peace of deregulation. The most they can come up with is the repeal of Glass Steagall. They propably do not know what was in it. The part that was repealed is about security activities allowed by commercial banks. IF you think that this caused the crisis, you have some explaining to do about why pure investment banks also failed.

Just a bunch of populist nonsense, bank bashing. Your own government is plundering you, that's the bottom line. Adn they have police, military and judicial power over you, so try to say no.

The welfare state all the chickenhawk repugnicants complain about is a small pimple on the ass of the massive amounts of money pissed away on " debt " servicing each and every year, much less the federal budget in it's entirity.

The value of a compassionate society is hope - as in no need to become a drug dealer or pimp to get by, no need to be a gang banger, no need to drink yourself stupid imprisioned by a lack of a future, no need to go humgry, and live in poverty. That does not mean there should be a permanent free lunch. A merit based system that upped the support for those who proved that they were out to better themselves through education, work, self improvement or whatever else you can think of, would be preferable.

If human beings have the ability to reach their full potential, we all win. Who knows where the next Bill Gates or Tesla will come from - and we will never know if they squander their opportunity to become that being in order to survive and die in poverty. This is a country wealthy beyond belief, about to get flushed down the toilet by those who run the banks, carved out monetary policy, raped, pillaged, and plundered the wealth of the entire world - for what ?

What is their legacy ? More of the same. I am not a Republican, Democrat, Christian, Liberal, Conservative,  or any other fucking stupid pet trick media label you may wish to foist upon me. I am a citizen of the world, and, so are you. Stand up and be counted as something other than a fucking sheep, following some bankster asshole to the slaughterhouse, simply because he has a bag of grain htat he is trickling a few crumbs out of to encourage you to follow.

If you do, expect to get economically shot in the head, eviscerated, skinned, hung, and cut up into manageable pieces. You get what you pay for.

The poverty you are so affraid will rob the next Tesla of his opportunity is born from taxation and interest payments to banks (interest paid on money that was created out of thin air).

Free markets, sound money, no tax, no fractional reserve, no Federal Reserve - and poverty will only exist for those who are completely incompetent, and have no family to help them - and those people will likely be helped by charities.

Socialism relys on theft by force, it weakens the family unit, it destroys incentives and it creates a massive drag on the economy of a people.  Under no circumstances is using force to redistribute peoples property moral - it is evil, pure and simple - regardless of whatever excuse you make for it (for the children .. ) the state simply wants more money flowing in, more legal power - this will always engender more corruption.
