Bernanke Is "Very Concerned" About Europe, Won't Bail Out European Banks

Tyler Durden's picture

Just a headline for now, but the last time Bernanke was "very concerned" about something, the presses were already in motion.

  • SENATOR HATCH SAYS BERNANKE `VERY CONCERNED' ABOUT EUROPE - BBG

And the kickers:

  • BERNANKE TELLS SENATORS NO FED RESCUE OF EUROPE BANKS: GRAHAM - BBG
  • BERNANKE `VERY CLEAR' FED HAS NO EUROPE BANK AID PLANS: CORKER - BBG

Unless, of course, he has no other choice...

All the Fed has to do is buy european bonds or be the backstop for any entity that is buying debt tied to the euro.

Technically, this bails out european banks. This also

1. Supports the euro and weakens the dollar

2. Props up the U.S. market (S-T price only)

3. Supports U.S. inflation targets

4. Keeps Americans buying like there is no tomorrow, because economically, there is no tomorrow

The problem is, once again the Fed (U.S. taxpayer) is buying lousy investments with little chance of any return. The benefit is only short-term and does not allow the economy to reset and bottom so that a real recovery can begin.

Banks=bonds=soverign debt, yet all we get is semantics.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The decision has been made.  Combining what Kyle Bass said about recaping EU banks AFTER the default is now the most likely scenario.  Benny and the Inkjets are just waiting for the default part of that , and then they jump in with all four feet.  This is coming from Europe, and Lagarde: the EMU cannot survive and everyone knows it.  Queue EMU exits, new currencies, defaults and devaluations, bank natioalizatiosn, and massive write downs and austerity.  But once past that Rubicon, expect massive printing to keep the world for going into a second Dark Age.  Depressions are for pussies.

remember, in a court of law, he'd say the swap lines and the low interest loans weren't a bail out. the were loans some other technical thing that swaps are because it is paid with sinterst or not given away free). the guy once more is telling some kind a falsehood although correct on a technical/ legal basis. Or he won't do it, but the ny fed will do it. something like that. Or he didn't do it, but told someone else to do it.

Rogue capitalism: see the film Rogue, about the crocodile in Australian back waters. It tells you all about the mind set of predatory capitalism; Kyle Bass et al. Included.

But his job is to worry about employment in the US AND Inflation, not the European banks, they are none of his buisness. Where is this authority found, in the Rothchild manual?

The Fed won't bail-out Europe's banks, Germany will.  The Fed will bail-out Germany however.

As Kyle Bass has clearly pointed out, bailouts of any kind will not work.  Period.  Major elimination of debt via bankruptcies will occur no matter what way they attempt to fix or even postpone the correct and inevitable solution.

I think Ben is stuck - China will shit a brick (technical term) if Fed fires up the printing presses - and it may very well send Japan over the edge. We kicked the can- and now it's the end of the road. Pull up your shorts and buy gold on the pull back.

Bennie is waiting for more turmoil in Europe.  Bennie is waiting for more turmoil in our markets and of course the typical media spin that 3 years I too a sheeple would have believed and then he will swoop in to save the markets and the people of the world!  You forget most people still do not get it.  As long as they have their Ipads and toys and reality TV they will be satisfied.  The printing presses and computer keyboards will all be singing, print baby, print, and he will stand in front of the podium next to Obama, when the markets get their crack and soar, how the Fed and this administration saved the world!

The people will cheer and walla another term for Obama!

In other news, the Federal Reserve via the IMF will eventually have to print endlessly in order to bail out Europe, regardless of how "concerned" Ben Bernanke is about the Euro-zone. Gold. Do it!

He used to be very confident

... we have this technology called a printing press ... and we even have helicopters ... if it comes to that ... blah de blah blah

and then he used them

...so now he's all "very concerned"

Good thing he has a full range of tools for the chopper!
