"The End Game: 2012 And 2013 Will Usher In The End" - The Scariest Presentation Ever?

Tyler Durden's picture

If Raoul Pal was some doomsday spouting windbag, writing in all caps, arbitrarily pasting together disparate charts to create 200 page slideshows, it would be easy to ignore him. He isn't. The founder of Global Macro Investor "previously co-managed the GLG Global Macro Fund in London for GLG Partners, one of the largest hedge fund groups in the world. Raoul came to GLG from Goldman Sachs where he co-managed the hedge fund sales business in Equities and Equity Derivatives in Europe... Raoul Pal retired from managing client money in 2004 at the age of 36 and now lives on the Valencian coast of Spain, from where he writes." It is his writing we are concerned about, and specifically his latest presentation, which is, for lack of a better word, the most disturbing and scary forecast of the future of the world we have ever seen....

And we see a lot of those.

Consider this:

  • We are here...

  • We don’t know exactly what is to come, but we can all join the very few dots from where we are now, to the collapse of the first major bank…
  • With very limited room for government bailouts, we can very easily join the next dots from the first bank closure to the collapse of the whole European banking system, and then to the bankruptcy of the governments themselves.
  • There are almost no brakes in the system to stop this, and almost no one realises the seriousness of the situation.
  • The problem is not Government debt per se. The real problem is that the $70 trillion in G10 debt is the collateral for $700 trillion in derivatives…
  • Yes, that equates to 1200% of Global GDP and it rests on very, very weak foundations
  • From an EU crisis, we only have to join one dot for a UK crisis of equal magnitude.
  • And then do you think Japan and China would not be next?
  • And then do you think the US would survive unscathed?
  • That is the end of the fractional reserve banking system and of fiat money.
  • It is the big RESET.

It continues:

  • Bonds will be stuck at 1% in the US, Germany, UK and Japan (for this phase).
  • The whole bond market will be dead.
  • Short selling on bonds - banned
  • Short selling stocks – banned
  • CDS – banned
  • Short futures – banned
  • Put options – banned
  • All that is left is the Dollar and Gold

It only gets better. We use the term loosely:

  • We have around 6 months left of trading in Western markets to protect ourselves or make enough money to offset future losses.
  • Spend your time looking at the risks of custody, safekeeping, counterparty etc. Assume that no one and nothing is safe.
  • After that…we put on our tin helmets and hide until the new system emerges

And the punchline

From a timing perspective, I think 2012 and 2013 will usher in the end.

THE COUNTRY OF SPAIN IS THE COLLATERAL YOU MORONS. Sure..."all the scary people live in Valencia these days." I hope to visit one day myself! Still...i didn't find the video particularly alarming. Perhaps it's because my threshold of "fear" has been increased exponentially oh these last few years.

Pfft.  The problem is energy.  Water.  Etc.  We can't freely grow as we are flirting with carrying capacity.

So not being able to short stuff isn't that scary.  You want scarier?  Hunger games with 6 billion losers.

Arisu's picture

Good to point this out. This is going to be the ultimate barrier to the system's expectation of exponential growth, no matter what tricks they'll employ to buy more time.

The hyperinflation is predetermined because actual resources can't be duplicated at will and technological progress is subject to diminishing returns as complexity rises, yet everyone acts as if it will never become a problem. This lack of adaption will make the crash velocity very unpleasant for us when we hit the wall of confrontion with reality.

There is that number 13 again

Revelation 13

King James Version (KJV)

13 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

No man will know the end times including John the rambling author of Revelations. Perhaps he should have listened to Jesus.

I feel the same, I have one on the way. My wife really thinks I'm nuts when I try to tell her how bad things are. I didn't want to even have a child at this point in history but I couldn't stand to deny her that...it's gonna be crazy soon. Good luck all....

To the both of you:  There are many things outside your control.  These leave up to faith.

Do what you can to prepare with the usual list.  And remember that almost anyone you meet can be as kind or as cruel as you can.  Once the angry mobs have subsided, then the people who have cool heads and real life skills can think about getting back to work rebuilding things.

I once was worried about my two young kids.  Since I have started to teach them the values that they deserve, I have found strength of duty in doing so.

Purpose so to speak.

Give em a hug and remember money systems have collapsed all throughout history.  Misery will surely follow for some, but it does not have to follow for all.

Dr. Engali's picture

I feel your pain. I have three kids , the oldest one is thirteen the youngest is five. But the thing about it is , when I first woke up to what is really going on in the world I felt the exact same way. My wife thought I was nuts and all I could do was fret for my family. But after a while , of study and silent prepping I started seeing things differently. I figure if I can teach my kids the skills they need and the values of putting the needs of others before their own , then they will be the seeds of a new and better system.

I also learned not to be so direct when talking about it. I learned to quietly point out the truth or certain current events. I let my wife come to her own conclusion about things. She isn't quite on board, but she also doesn't look at me like I'm crazy when I continue to stock the larder.

I believe it's going to be a rough go for a while but With a little faith and preparation it could lead to something better.

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Dr Engali,

Reading what you said truly saddens me. I feel like I have to apologize for women everywhere. My father in 1971 had a heart to heart talk about the importance for holding real assets ( gold, productive land and property) because Nixon taking us off the gold standard. To him the world was going to end. I was 10 yrs old. Each time his Howard Ruff newsletter came he read it to me and tried to get me to understand how to prepare for the future. Being 10 not much sank in but I'll never forget his passion. I never forgot his passion for gold ( his masters thesis at Columbia was about the gold standard). When he died in 1981, I tried so hard to do what he wanted me to do. I can't tell you how many people laughed at me and said I was foolish, and like an idiot I listened to them. My own husband said that if we impemented my dad's ideas, we would end up living under a freeway ramp in our retirement (he's seen the light now and regularly
buys gold with me). I had financial planners laud my husbands
investments and tell me that my dad was a product of his time and his
ideas had no application to modern life. Yet again I believed them. My
husband has eaten a lot of crow the last few years but, honestly, I'm more
angry with myself. I should have taken my own money and prepped the
way my dad told me to do long ago and given the middle finger to all who
ridiculed me. Thank God some people have the balls to follow the proper path in a sea of naysayers! You have my respect. I wish there was the Internet in the 1970s and 80s so like minded people could have connected. Those were very lonely years.

my puppy for prez's picture

Your wife is a lucky woman, Engali!  I am the wife in this house, and I am the one who is doing all the prepping!  I feel like the protector most days, and that saddens me.  My hubby is a good man, works very hard, makes a fantastic living, but I can't seem to get him to internalize what is coming and DO something, damn it!  He tends to do the "ostrich" thing.  I'm doing the best I can, but I don't have complete control of the finances.  I dread the thought of the day when the stuff we didn't get out of the market goes up in smoke....I am afraid I will be extremely resentful.  My three kids are all so different.  My girl (21) is like me and is learning to live off the grid.  My eldest son (23) is the eternal optimist brainwashed by the business school, and loves the "modern life".  My 15 yr old son is pretty solid, and has some rudimetary survival skills plus some serious marksmanship.

I guess the best we can do for our families is to have an emergency plan....you know....for "natural disasters", I tell them, so they don't look at me too askance!

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

You go girl! Nice to hear there are crazy prepper women like me out there too. After reading ZH, sometimes I feel all women are doing the "ostrich" thing... most embarrassing. I mean... men cant be the only ones awake. I like to think all the women are lurking here and are afraid to decloak in the man cave.

my puppy for prez's picture

Thanks for your words!  Maybe we should start the "Annie Oakley" club!  lol

You have been blessed to have had a dad who would teach you these things.  I stumbled into the "truth movement" about 5 years ago in the weirdest way.  Someone asked me if I had ever heard of the Hegelian Dialectical Process.  I had to find out what it meant, and then, down the rabbit hole I went!

Good to know that at least one other woman in the world is plugged in and can handle the truth!  I sometimes want to scream to women:  Wake up!  Your lunch dates, Junior League, nail appts, Pilates workouts, and Botox aren't going to even EXIST pretty soon!

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Annie Oakley... That's great! I wish I could shoot as well as she, but I am working on it. Yes, I took the bait and googled Hegelian Dialetical Process. Very interesting. I now have something to read tomorrow on my day off, thanks. I share your views about the soccer moms out there. All the women I work with are only interested what's on tv or what other form of entertainment they will engage in. Reminds me of that old Star Trek episode the Cloudminders. They frustrate me so! Then I drive home after work and pick up some steaks at our local butcher shop. The butcher seemed a little down and I asked why. He was working on prepping and realized his wife, who had surgery to remove her thyroid, must have medication. He was afraid when the SHTF he wouldn't have enough meds stored. I told him as a butcher he had a lot of access to beef thyroid and with some research he could possibly make his own, though he would have to be extremely careful an overdose could be fatal and I would do anything to help. He was so happy and said I had lifted an enormous burden off his shoulders. So, in my experience, the so called uneducated blue collars seem to be more awake then the college educated.
Keep the faith and stay strong...nice to find a kindred spirit.

Hello Miffed and My Puppy.  You are not alone.  I read ZH every day and try to warn my friends.  My husband was a gold bug and made a lot in the 70s but did not do well 80 to 2000.  He passed away then and did not live to see the rise but he was right about the preparations and I am carrying on.

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Hi Jemlyn,

Well you made my day. I can now count at least a few women who are not asleep. ZH has saved my mental life. I'm sorry to hear of your loss and I hope you have support. It's a tough world out there and I hope you aren't going it alone. I'm at the shooting range and got to go for now. Take care!

for every "woman" with her head in the sand, there's also a "man" in denial - let's not perpetuate myths, particularly here @ ZH.

here are some links to awake people who happen to be female - pass 'em on.

humans, being.  no need to draw divisive lines, particularly at this stage of the game.  we can all work to wake others up, no one benefits from leaving loved ones behind. . .

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Dear C. Aura

In my post I was not trying to devisive but simply stating personal experience therefore anecdotal and NOT scientific. All personal experience has personal bias. Frankly the 1:1 ratio you speak of can hardly be proven...even it it were what's the point? In my experience, women tend not to like to face fear. I'm included in that category. It's taken a lot of courage to face my own fears as well as societal fears. I believe women tend to find more comfort in safety, perceived or otherwise, rather than men. This is a generalization of course and not meant as absolute. Perhaps the reasons are biological in origins. I would find myself extremely fearful walking in an area with a known rapist was committing crimes, my husband would not.

My intent was not to judge, denigrate or offend anyone.

Hi Miffed and My Puppy,

I was taught at the age of 7 by my Father to Shoot a rifel.  I became a Marxman.  My Father took me with him to Hunt and Fish.  He had permission to Hunt Ground Hogs on a friends farm as they would eat all of the Farmers Crops. We even had a target in the basement where I practiced with a pellet rifle.

Even as of today I still have the skills and ocassionally go with my Son to the pistol range to keep in practice with a hand gun I have for protection.

My Father taught me like a Son and I am so grateful for everything he taught me and the time we had together Hunting and Fishing.
