The Biggest Shock From This Friday's Payroll Report (Sorry Men)

Tyler Durden's picture

By now much has been written about the joke that was the collapse in the labor force participation rate. Perhaps too much, especially for a topic which as we predicted back in early 2011, would be the primary fudge factor allowing mainstream media headlines to blast America's economic renaissance. Remember: it is all about "confidence." Little, however, has been said about the constituents of this dramatic plunge to a 31 year low, namely the simplest distinction: that between genders. As the chart below shows, when one spreads the labor force by sex, the Friday data is particularly sad for one class of workers: Men. Because as the seasonally adjusted data shows, the labor force participation rate for men just printed at 69.8%. It has never been lower.

The winners, if one may call it that? Women, whose participation rate, while declining and merely where it was back in 1993 last, is still nearly double where it was in 1948.

America is already elbow deep into class warfare. In order to comply with Caesarian and Napoleonic principles, and divide and rule "more better", has the time come to throw in some sexual conflict into the mix as well?

stirring the weekend pot, letting off the steam. . .

And it's now official: Women dominate men at every level of higher education, in terms of degrees conferred. Here's the breakdown for graduates of the class of 2009:

Associate's Degrees: 167 for women for every 100 for men.

Bachelor's Degrees: 142 for women for every 100 for men.

Master's Degrees: 159 for women for every 100 for men.

Professional Degrees: 104 for women for every 100 for men.

Doctoral Degrees: 107 for women for every 100 for men.

http://mjperry.blogspot.com/2009/06/women-dominate-higher-education-at.h...

centuries of male only university educations, jobs for the boys, closed professions, higher wages because of "sole support of families" cultural engineering. . . all lost to competition for jawbs.

Cute list. So how's about rustlin' up one show the comparative student debts loads, or how many are holding jobs requiring said degrees (does any job require an Associates)? Even better, how many of them end up with good ol' gubermint jobs?

What does it say about the whole scam that women are now "dominating" in degrees just as said degrees are hemorrhaging marginal utility? Degrees are cheap, but school is expensive, that's the real problem. The growing disparity is a sign of systemic failure, not feminine achievement.

Portagul spent billions to send every young person to college, but failed to do anything to assure that they might actually have jobs when they graduated. Sound familar?

Those statistics make sense. Men realized long ago that degrees are a useless, expensive endeavor. Men continue to build things without formal university educations while Elmer Ph.ud-ette continues to rely on us to keep her happy as she shovels more paper into the system that contributes nothing to productivity of any kind. To be a paper-pusher in this world today means you are nothing more than an obstruction to be removed in the future. Get real skillz, cuz I for one am sick and tired of useless assholes (male or female) trying to suck my productivity dry to fund their uselessness.

In 1948 a large percentage of women were involved in a different form of labor participation - it was the third year of the Baby Boom, remember? Women like my mother, who had been employed prior to 1946, really only shifted from being paid to work to working even harder as mothers and housewives. Paid employment, in my mother's circles, resumed in the 1960s after the children were old enough to take care of themselves.

Shifting gears - is American society beginning to resemble the natural order as seen in the way lions organize? The males are mostly lazy, let the females do the hunting for the pride, and get active only for food and sex. Human males are luckier - we can have a female or a dog bring us beer.

Women are the fairer sex but they are more susceptable to temptation. As in buying nonsense crap. A manly man will get by happily with the bare necessities. Those of you men out there who have rid themselves of a woman have probably noticed how much more money you can save. Now a womanly man will waste a lot of money just like an average woman. You know, a fancy car, fancy house filled with lots of useless dust collecting trinkets, fancy clothes, etc.
So you have a clue as to WHY it has been encouraged that women catch up to and eventually take over the "buying shit" role. More Debt Piled Higher, Piled Deeper. The emasculation of the average man is no accident. It has been PLANNED! ;)

I once knew a guy who was notorious for dating stunningly beautiful women that turned out to be absolute mental cases. During one chat I had with him he was discussing the current mental case he was dating and said, “I don’t know what to do… for the past 10 months I’ve given her everything, I’ve done everything she wants, I’ve helped pay her rent, and it’s cost me $12.000 so far and I don’t even see her often. She keeps treating me like a virus whenever the mood strikes her”.

Well, I’m not a relationship counselor (I know, hard to believe) so I broke it down into something he could understand… MONEY. For $12,000 over a 10 month time frame he could have hired a $200/hour call girl for six one hour sessions per month. After the hour is up, she leaves and you’re both happy.

After a short silence on the phone he says, “What about love”? I said, “What about it? If that’s what you’re looking for stop dating beautiful mental cases”.

The real irony here is that this fellow was quite a mental case himself, having served with the Queen’s SAS back in the 70’s fighting the IRA. I guess he never got used to being out-mental-cased.

In our bathroom, I'll bet, my wife has no fewer than two to three thousand objects. To be sure, that's probably counting each item in a box or bag individually, but wtf!?! I need and have perhaps five or ten objects. There are times when no fewer than 15 bottles of different shampoos, conditioners, etc. litter the shower floor. One year, she wrote 1,437 checks (seriously). When it comes to money, women are insane.

This is due in large part to the attack on the Middle Class by trickle-downers over the last 30 years.  It has forced families to have two wage earners instead of one just to be able to live the same lifestyle as previous generations did.  This, of course, means more women in the labor force which then just by law of averages forces down the calculated participation rate for men.

If wages had increased with the rate of inflation, this wouldn't be such a problem.  But since trickle-down economics is a fraud (and one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated on the American people), wages for the middle class have been flat for 30 years.

You hand the reigns of power to kleptocrats like Ronald Reagan kicked into high gear in the early '80s and this is exactly what you would expect.  And since so many Americans have been brainwashed into thinking that supply side Jesus is a reality, it will only continue.

Men and women have a roll to play in developing a healthy social fabric, government has been ripping it apart at every opportunity. If you think I am wrong try to tell government to butt out of your family altogether, push this to the fullest extent and you and your wife will find yourself doing time or bleeding out in your own home at the hands of statist dresses in battle gear.

Other then that men and women are wired completely different, forcing them to play rolls (no women cannot be firemen, they are still fireWOMEN) and men do not make moms. Blurring the lines get you blurry lines, nothing more.

No battle of the sexes here, men and women can be great or terrible employees equally.

Seems like women are more likely to be supporting themselves today vs the past.

I would be curious to see the deomgraphics of employement.  Men typically gravitate towards productive work, like construction, manufacturing, and engineering.

Women seem to gravitate towards service jobs, medical, hospitality, and government services.

The problem is NOT a "desire to help" versus "desire to produce".  The problem is the "desire to force others to finance" whatever you do.

Which puts almost everyone in the health-destruction industry, the financial-industry, highly-unionized industries and government-jobs on the destroyer side of the equation.

Sadly, so-called "jobs" based on force, control and manipulation grow every year, while productive jobs (both service and physical production) decrease.

The problem comes from imposing force and non-voluntary features into a natural economy --- to the point that the natural economy is now vanishingly small.

How long has it been since most people were hired because of "what they know", not "who they know" (or "who they are", which includes race, gender, sexual preference, etc).  Identify that and you understand the problem.

I suspect America is now the most pussified society on the planet, even more so than Europe or Japan.

In those places they have millenia old cultural norms which still break through the blur of modern life.

America has embraced "modernism" through and through, which of course means unrestrained feminism, and unrestrained "lifestyle" marketing to females which leads to debt based consumption.

I'm no misogynist, trust me, but I'm sick of it.  I'm sick of all of these uppity American females and their know-nothing "we need a big welfare state to take care of us, and a big military state to protect us from those evildoers who want to murder our children."  "And then we'll all live comfortable, perfect lives."

.The gender glass ceiling has been shattered. And it was deliberate. Of course the feminists are delighted but the real action came from our rulers, whose power increases with the breakup of the family structure.

Pressures from the outsourcing of America’s manufacturing base and high end engineering, research and development jobs along with importation of cheaper labor for male-dominated jobs, coupled with political correctness and anti-family prejudices, are putting women into America’s driver’s seat.

At the same time, the outsourcing along with the influx of cheaper labor for male-dominated professional and construction jobs because of Congress’ H-1b and open-border programs will continue to diminish the American male’s raison d’etre.

BLS figures hot off the press in March for 2009 show that “almost 40 percent of U.S. working wives now out-earn their husbands.”  These stats appear in Liza Mundy’s book - “The Richer Sex – How the New Majority of Female Breadwinners Is Transforming Sex, Love and Family.” – stats slipped to her by a BLS economist for her book before they were officially published.

That figure has been rising a steady 1 percent or so every year since 1987 (when Goldman was busy with its global acquisitions and mergers) which means that today that figure is probably 43 percent or above.

In addition, by 2050, at the present rate there will be 140 college-educated women in the U.S. for every 100 similar men.

Here is more on the changing demographics of America’s workforce from “Fact Sheet 2010:  Professional Women Vital Statistics” from The Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO.

Between 1997 and 2008, almost 60% of women worked (now about 55% in the chart above).

Women make up the majority (57.5% and 57.2%, respectively) of professional and related occupations and service occupations, the occupations expected to grow most rapidly (16.8% and 13.8%, respectively) from 2008–18.

Women have been earning more bachelor’s degrees than men since 1982 and they have been earning more master’s degrees than men since 1981. They are projected to earn 59% of all postsecondary degrees conferred in 2008.

Women are projected to earn 52% of professional degrees conferred in 2008–09, up from 2.6% in 1961.

Women are projected to earn 52.7% of all doctoral degrees in 2008–09, while in 1961 they earned only 10.5% of all doctoral degrees.

The proportion of women in medical school increased from 5.8% in the academic year 1960–61 to almost 49% in the academic year 2007–08.

Between academic years 1959–60 and 2005–06, the percentage of degrees in dentistry earned by women increased from 0.8% to 44.5%.

In 2009, 92% of registered nurses, 81.9% of all elementary and middle school teachers, and 97.8% of all preschool and kindergarten teachers were women.

In comparison, only 7.1% of all civil engineers, 9.4% of electrical and electronics engineers, and 10% of all aerospace engineers were female.

The percentage of technical writers who were female increased from 36% to 50.4% between 1985 and 2009.

Women pharmacists increased from 30% in 1985 to 49.3% in 2009.

The percentage of female chemists increased from 11% in 1985 to 30% in 2009.

In 2008, women accounted for 32.4% of all lawyers, 32.2% of all physicians and surgeons, and 68.8% of all psychologists.

As you can see, the robots will not wake up, until it is too late, and you cannot awken a robot that does not want to be awoken. all you can do is throw a rope in the black hole, and pull the kids out that prepare accordingly.

the economy is a function of where those kods want to go. just complete the circuit forward.

funny how trade policy never was discussed during our wonderful political party conventions that showcased candidates that are interchangeable except in rhetoric

Is it true that all those women are working for the government? Must be.  All the jobs for men were out-sourced.

Stuck on Zero, the largest employer in the world is the government. Over half the jobs in the U.S. are Gubermint, so, Mr. Down Arrow may want to weigh the scale and stop singing ''Under My Thumb''.

The Drag Queen Bride of the Suicide Vampire Squid second largest employer is the Great ''Wal Mart'' of China. Now that is outsourcing Freedom for the Antichrist New World Order Secular Communist Fascisim.

Hard to be married when you don't have a job. Really hard for a man to even get a date with a woman, she just does not have the time. She's too busy working to sustain the last moments of the life of the black hole, while in line for Gubermint tax breaks and money, her children are paying for, while trying to feed the single parent public school Union latchkey kid on High Fructose.

The Drunk Whore of Babylon, riding the Beast, tempted by the Suicide Vampire Squid's offer, holds the Golden BTFD Cup filled with the prophetic Wine of Warth.

Well Judas Priest is a Drag Queen Bride now ...Bitchez. Victim of ''Change'', that's no lie.

Hayek was right. Black markets absolutely prove the viability of free markets, in fact in the face of severe police state opposition. The cronyism proves Keynesians to all be ball lickers.

The reality is MUCH, MUCH worse than the charts imply.

Remember, the stated employment INCLUDES government "employment".  But government "employment" is much, much WORSE than unemployment!  That's right, much, much worse.  Think about it.

Each unemployed individual produces nothing, and some of them receive unemployment payments.  That is indeed bad.  However, each government employed individual receives a much larger paycheck than the unemployed individual.  But they are NOT producing anything, unlike many privately employed individuals, AND in fact their activity HARMS productive individuals (in almost every case), and in every case the money paid to them is STOLEN from producers directly (via taxes) or indirectly (via money printing or other nefarious actions).

So, to make those charts representative of something real, you must subtract about 2 times the increase in government employement over the same time periods to achieve a realistic, meaningful chart.  Of course many government workers cause FAR more damage than others, so the multiplier is difficult to determine with any accuracy.

AND, every other less direct influence I can think of is also negative, sometimes very, very negative.  For example, 20 years ago I knew lots of people who wanted to create, invent, develop new products and services, and start new businesses.  Today I know almost zero, and those I do know who still have this idea are "clueless fool types" who clearly have very little to offer.  Anyone with even a tiny bit of brains understands the current situation is hopeless, that their time, effort, work, skills and investment will almost certainly be co-opted to feed the predators-DBA-government, predators-DBA-banksters or predators-DBA-huge-corporations.  So they say "why bother" and restrain their actions to private, small scale ones that have a chance to slip under the radar.  Or they just give up and live a simple, frugal, intellectual life.

Yup, the reality is, those charts are GROSSLY optimistic as measures of anything important.

I believe the article's author needs some enlightenment. All men my be created equal, but the federal government and Fortune 500 companies don't see it that way.  What I am saying is this: as long as you are ANYTHING other than a straight white male, you stand a good chance in finding "traditional" employment. Thanks to EEO and it's evil twin affirmative action, larger companies and government agencies have drank the multicultural and diversity kool-aide. The best people for the job as no longer being hired in the USA. This is just another thing{of many others} killing our competitiveness. The multiCULTS hammer this message over and over into the minds of our children and young people in school and in the media {especially entertainment}. The straight white male is the ONLY one not considered part of a protected class, as long as he is not handicapped or over 60, at which time he is out of the workforce anyway. The majority of straight white males who are over 40 and unemployed due to the 2007 "recession" {lets be honest, it's really a depression}are screwed. It is doubtful most will ever find employment again. Could this be where the flood of the SS disability claims are coming from? I'd bet so.  There is no special interest group to advocate for them. Even the military has been instructed by the White House to promote "traditionally disadvantaged group members" over the SWMs in the services {read it myself in the Navy Times}. The administration also was distraught over the high percentages of SWMs in elite units from southern and western states, and were looking into ways to CORRECT THIS TRADITIONAL TREND {from the same Navy Times article}. Maybe this will prove a Godsend to SWMs. Forced into going it alone, perhaps they will become the truly independent person we need today.

SWMs should avoid university studies and concentrate on trade schools. After completion of said school, apprentice under a master-craftsman and learn his trade for five to ten years, then go into business for himself. Offer substantial discounts to his customers for cash. Report as little as possible income to the same system who is trying to destroy him. On paper, he should look like he is just barely getting by. Until there is a change, if there ever is, this is the best strategy going forward for a SWM living in the USSA. And of corse, if all else fails, he can always join an Amish community. They are exempt from paying socialist security taxes and Obamacare. They are also granted exemption from Selective Service registration. Best kept secret in the mid west!

American women after 30+ years of preferential workplace treatment have achieved their dreams of being hired in greater numbers than men.

Pick any mid size or Fortune 2000 company, thinktank and academiic institution. Look at the proportion of women vs. men holding the majorrity of jobs in Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Information Technology, Customer Service, Media, as well as the traditional areas of teaching, nursing and administration. Look at the actual numbers.

Another 10+ years and women will make up close to 70% of the workforce. Other than the tradional men dominated professions of construction, engineering, war fighting, and heavy lifting manual labor, men will not be needed nor wanted by female dominent organizations.

Very, very, true.

What group will be next to be labeled unfavored and not chosen to "avoid discrimination"?

White Women?  Then African American males?  Then Latinos?  Then Asians?  Then mixed race transgender left-handed Tibetans?

The way we are going we will at some point be back to hiring white males.

The juvenile reasoning and narcisissm of our mad society seems to have no end.
