Bill Maher "Applauds" Ron Paul, Calls Paul Detractors "Brainwashed Liberals"

Tyler Durden's picture

When Bill Maher, hardly a conservative, says that he applauds Ron Paul on his positions, and calls those Paul detractors in his audience "brainwashed liberals" it is safe to say we have seen it all. And so, once again, Ron Paul is officially cool.

YOu can't wash what does not exist. Liberals (another stoopid term) or otherwise. Knock, knock, look.... nobodys home.

didn't this same idiot slam RP awhile ago???

gojam's picture

It begs the question - How many Rons could a Ron Paul pull if a Ron Paul could pull Rons ?

Note: Rons read Reagan support.

redpill's picture

I didn't even know this guy was still on tv.  I strongly support Ron Paul, but who really cares what Bill Maher thinks?

Kimo's picture

"who really cares what Bill Maher thinks?"  Apparently, you do.

redpill's picture

Well that's an interesting non sequitur, how do you figure?

Mercury's picture

If Maher thought Ron Paul was a real threat to Obama he'd be whistling a different tune...and he only mentions one issue worth applauding anyway  (how many liberals think Obama is ending our wars too quickly? ).

And from a Dem point of view, it makes the most sense to "support" the candidate most likely to split the GOP vote.

He's hardly sticking his neck out here as he lamely attempts to appear "politically incorrect".

tarsubil's picture

Are Maher's comments going to divide Republicans or are they going to make Democrats think twice? If Bill thinks he's doing what you think he is doing, he is making a big mistake. Peace train, bitchez!

pan-the-ist's picture

Maher really does share many of RPs values, as a Liberal I share many of RPs values, the thing is that I will not back a candidate with zero integrity like Gingrich or Romney, but I would vote for Paul.  At least with Paul you know what you're getting.

We liberals want to end corporate welfare as much as "conservatives" wish to end personal welfare, and these things are really two sides to the same coin which is that the government taxes people to give the money to someone else... which must be ended if the country has a realistic chance of survival in a meaningful way.

This is why I oppose SOPA, the MIC, Farm subsidy, the occupation of the rest of the world, etc.

Government Regulations should not be used to exclude people from markets and protect market share for others, but at the same time, we can't have companies dumping benzine where ever thy wish and sharks putting idiots into debts they cannot pay back.

+1 Merc.

Their strategy is to split the GOP vote in the "hope" that the weakest is chosen. But I don't think it really matters as any one of the flawed as every one of them are in their own 1000% better than O'Barry.

Its really the only card they have when you think about it.

What will O'Barry run on? Crony capitalism & Solyndra/GE/LightSquared et al, Fast & Furious, Dodd-Frank, ObamaCare and spending more than any other president before him?

They're dead meat and they know it...they'll be lucky to hold the Senate IMO.

were doing the right thing but we actually have created generations of
dependency, and now we have to admit that they have not worked and
that they were mistakes."-Bob Beckel

Mental note to self...dude with avatar of Vendetta dude is certifiably INANE.

At this point in Amerikan history, if you are a "Democrat", if you are a "Republican",

you are part of the problem.

Flakmeister's picture

You noticed that too about the Vendetta dude...

He is a twisted obfuscating fool...

nmewn's picture

You have defended Marxism to me personally. You have also defended government paid "scientists" lying to extort the population at who most resembles or you Flak?

Flakmeister's picture

As I expected, a cheap slur... no doubt inspired by your soul-mate Gingrich...

I have never defended Marxism...

Now go off and practice your fastball....

nmewn's picture

A slur you say?...Marx & Engels is now a slur?...ROTFLMAO!!!

You've never defended Marxism?...just what does your precious socialism derive itself from Flak? You will now resort to a bold face lie and say our long thread encounter never happened? Thats rich.

And appropriate for you.

The thing about a fastball is not whether or not it hops or pops...its whether or not you can get yourself on base or afford to chance the strike by its offering.

V for you know what it means between us, I told you that night and didn't pussy foot around about it ole chum.

A "mental note to self" posted for the world to read is silly...or as you say, inane.

who really cares what Bill Maher thinks?

Unfortunately, quite a few "brain washed liberals" think Mahr is brilliant and he does influence people because he is a "celebrity" and sounds like he knows what he's talking about. IMHO Mahr is nothing more than a brain washed Progressive who is flying a false flag if he has anything good to say about RP. Maybe the Soros/Obama Machine believes RP would be easier to defeat that the others.  We shall see.

buckethead's picture

Perhaps we can take Maher at his word when he states that RP is closer to his foreign policy heart than BHO.

He has not been inconsistent regarding wars of aggression.

It occurs to me that this is an attempt at intellectual honesty. Something we need much more of, but is in very short supply among partisans.

I have personally attempted to transcend my own self indoctrination (leaning to the right) and have observed the same effort by many on the left.

There is no utopia, right or left, but intellectual honesty is always a step in the right direction.

Hive Raid's picture

Just dropped in to say Bill Maher is a lying sack of shit, generally speaking.

But I suppose even a sack of shit is right once a day, if you attach it to the top of a pole, and bury some of his guests around it with their heads poking up out of the sand at mathematically precise intervals, to make a sort of liberal-shit-head sundial.

Bastard attacks people who speak the truth about 9/11... politically incorrect (within the safe boundaries of debate assigned by the cultural engineers) with bill maher.

Captain Kink's picture

Yes, right on... what about Ron Paul for VP?  guaranteed winning ticket?

monoloco's picture

He would never share a ticket with any of those clowns.

LongBalls's picture

I agree by-in-large but it does signal one glaring fact. RON PAUL IS ELECTABLE. As he himself would state, "freedom is universal".

Freddie's picture

All of TV and Hollywood is total shit.  Anyone who views their crap enpower the elites.  TV is for sheep who are controlled by the media.

It is pathetic to see supposed "conservatives" on sites like Free Republic bashing Ron Paul and pimping for RINO and CFR POS Newt.

If you have to choose for POTUS it would be Ron Paul then Santorum (better than Mitt or Newt), then Romney (gag) and then anyone else followed by Newt then Satan followed by Obama.

Ron Paul 2012

tarsubil's picture

You got your order mixed up. It should be: Ron Paul first, everyone else and the antiChrist second.

LetThemEatRand's picture

Of course if one supports a candidate, he must agree with everything the candidate does or says at all times.  Slamming the candidate one day and yet supporting him on balance the next day does not compute.  It's a black and white world out there, isn't it Trav.  It's called complex thinking and seeing two sides to an argument.  Try it sometime.

Flakmeister's picture

You have some replies waiting elsewhere....

Frankie Carbone's picture

@ trav. No, Maher, who I personally think is a jerk, has never slammed Paul. In fact, I jhave seen nearly every comment about Paul by Maher, including his interviews with him.

Maher likes Paul's positions on Foreign Policy and Civil Liberties. THAT is why he is so friendly with Paul.

One comment that Maher once made that really stuck out at me - giving me insight as to why such an strange bedfellow relationship exists is this... He once said something along the lines, to paraphrase..

"You know, you would think that Ron Paul's positions on social issues drive me crazy, and they do... But I like Ron Paul. I really do. Here's why. He is spot on with America's foreign policy and is often the only person of authority to openly and consistently admit what we all think but are afraid to say. Also, when it comes to civil liberties he's the only person on the national stage that, when we hear that tired cliche of "America the free", repeatedly shows that the emperor has no clothes. But most importantly, Ron Paul is consistent, day in and day out. He means what he says and says what he means."

I vividly remember those comments. Let me see if they are on YouTube and I'll post them.

Hobbleknee's picture

He was pro Paul in the last election too.

Libertarian777's picture

I remember back in 07/08 Neil Cavuto was literally LAUGHING in Ron Paul's face during one of the intervews. Completely disrespectful.

NOW, Neil Cavuto LISTENS to RP. He actually asks relatively 'fair' questions to RP now.

My real fear is that RP doesn't get the nomination. Then, much like his prediction about the housing bubble, a full blown currency crises will descend on us, which, by then RP will likely have passed on, and there will be NO HOPE.

Whether he gets the nomination or not isn't as relevant as the fact that RON PAUL HAS WON.

How? Newt Gingrich is talking about a gold standard and a gold commission.

Huntsman was talking about bringing the troops home.

Perry spoke about closing cabinet level departments.

The only position Ron Paul hasn't managed to sway any of the other's yet is on foreign policy. ANd that's because the establishment requires WAR to stay in power.

fockewulf190's picture

Don't be fooled by any of the other candidates sudden support for Paul's views on issues. They are all political vampires and are just trying to suck some voters out of Paul and into their own political bloodstream. They are all status-quo mofos at heart, and if elected will drop Paul's views faster than an invitation to Nancy Pelosi's re-election party.

Ron Paul must go third party and nuke the republican establishment. Fuck em!

bill maher has been a ron paul fan for years, and had him many times on his show.

I think bill maher with all his flaws, is at least a very rational person, as we can see

with his anti-god, anti-religion stand. I applaud him for that.

But he was also a big, big obama-cheerleader in 2007-2008.... so really how deep

The man's a comedian for fuck sake....

margaris's picture

So? A good comedian has to know and care how the world works... or how is he going to make those jokes snappy and "to the point"?

In these times when massmedia is only lying and producing false news, it is EXACTLY the comedians who should use the situation to

bring out the truth in a funny & blunt way!

Bill maher has highly neglected economics and the power of "the money masters" etc...

He doesnt talk about the real issues (yet)... he should go home and do his homework...
