Chairman Of Armed Services Subcommittee Asks What Obama Has Offered To Russia As A Bargaining Chip

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the earlier microphonegate (someone really need to tell politicians that any time they speak, they are now on the record always, and no just for the benefit of the NSA's brand spanking new compound in Utah known as "1984", that includes Portuguese and German politicians too) it was only a matter of time before the more conservative republican elements went beyond the simply rhetorical and asked some pointed questions, such as this from Mike Turner, Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, who minutes ago said that "It’s Unclear What the President has Offered up to the Russians as Bargaining Chips." Additionally, what is funny is that a part of the much hated NDAA which essentially eliminates the bill of rights for American citizens who are suspected of terrorist activity, Congress specifically targeted missile information sharing with Russia. To wit: "Congress has included in the FY 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, Congress, which the president has signed into law, a provision constraining his ability to share classified U.S. missile defense information with the Russian Federation. Congress took this step because it was clear based on official testimony and Administration comments in the press that classified information about U.S. missile defenses, including hit-to-kill technology and velocity at burnout information, may be on the table as negotiating leverage for the president’s reset with Russia." So let's get this straight - Obama signs the NDAA, with supposed reservations because he is well aware it is unconstitutional, and yet when it comes to its plain vanilla provisions, he violates them? Has anyone figured out yet what follows a banana republic in the escalation to pure centrally-planned lunacy, because America is there now.

From Mike Turner:

Turner: “Obama’s Plans for Missile Defense Won’t Stand Up to Electoral Scrutiny”
It’s Unclear What the President has Offered up to the Russians as Bargaining Chips

Congressman Mike Turner, Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, wrote to the president today, requesting an “urgent explanation of [his] comments to President Medvedev in Seoul this morning.” The president had stated that “this is my last election, and after my election I'll have more flexibility,” in regards to missile defense in Europe.

“Congress has made exquisitely clear to your Administration and to other nations that it will block all attempts to weaken U.S. missile defenses.  As the Chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, which authorizes U.S. missile defense and nuclear weapons policy, I want to make perfectly clear that my colleagues and I will not allow any attempts to trade missile defense of the United States to Russia or any other country,” wrote Turner.

Congress has included in the FY 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, Congress, which the president has signed into law, a provision constraining his ability to share classified U.S. missile defense information with the Russian Federation. Congress took this step because it was clear based on official testimony and Administration comments in the press that classified information about U.S. missile defenses, including hit-to-kill technology and velocity at burnout information, may be on the table as negotiating leverage for the president’s reset with Russia.

“Despite signing the FY12 defense authorization legislation into law, you then issued a signing statement signaling that you may treat that provision protecting U.S. missile defense information as non-binding.  This morning’s comments, on top of that action, suggests that you and your administration have plans for U.S. missile defenses that you believe will not stand up to electoral scrutiny,” added Turner.

No one with an ounce of sense should be anywhere on Facebook.  It's easy to thwart, don't use that shit, and if you do you're asking for it.

Google is tougher to get around, and will become increasingly so.  But there are some important steps you can take:

- Don't use G-Mail!  They parse all your personal e-mails.  This happens to prisoners and you think "oh how awful" but Google does it and people just take it up the butt.  Ridiculous.  In fact, it's best to have a fairly regularly used e-mail account overseas, there's plenty of them that are free and don't do any of the privacy invasion crap.

- Use a secure browsing setup, or at the very least use the "incognito" mode on the various browsers.

- Don't get any sort of Google account, or if you do, don't surf while logged in.  If you must have one to use Youtube or something, use a separate browser!  Browsers don't share cookies with each other.  So pick some alternate browser to do your youtube stuff on.

- Set your browser to delete cookies and passwords when you shut it down.  Yes you'll have to remember your passwords instead of storing them in your browser all the time.  Don't get lazy and use the same password.  Come up with some sort of system to help you remember them that wouldn't occur to someone randomly.  Once you get good at remembering them, it will seem natural to log in each browser session.

eh?! ... what you're saying is the complete opposite of the truth. There is no such thing as, "... a uranium deficit ...", nor any shortfall of production and supply, and none likely for at least 150 years. There has in fact been a massive GLUT in uranium for decades, since the end of the cold war, as Russia and the US decided to blend-down national weapon-grade HEU stocks, to reactor-grade fuel.  Plus they stopped buying uranium to process into weapons decades before this, so the production of uranium has collapsed due to a lack of demand, not due to any physical lack of uranium.

The resulting global GLUT and production oversupply has strongly suppressed prices to very low levels thus rendering previously economic mines, uneconomic, and caused them to close with large known reserves still sitting in the ground.  Plus for decades there has been a more-or-less constant number of reactors (if we ignore Israeli attacks) and since Chernobyll the demand for uranium has not grown, as there has been no new generation of reactors being deployed.

And now Fukushima has killed global demand again, and further increased the tendency to oversupply and reduced prices, making uranium much less attractive to further mining investment.  Plus the biggest uranium mine in the world just expanded its scale and got a whole lot bigger.

Thus the only countries an companies now able to compete in uranium mining today are the ones with the largest economic deposits of the highest grades plus the cheapest extraction capacities.  The REAL problem these companies face is that uranium is much too plentiful and thus too cheap, and many thus rely on making money via extracting secondary metals and minerals from the same uranium mine operations (like gold and copper). Thus making the uranium extraction itself viable, as price fluctuates.  Thus higher commodities prices have helped in that regard (but the wild swings in commodities has not helped).

But to suggest that there is some sort of 'deficit' of uranium supply, that's forcing the US and Russia to cannibalise nuclear weapon HEU components in order to supply civil reactor fuel needs, then you're completely wrong and talking pure nonsense.  There are plentiful economically extractable uranium reserves in the ground in multiple countries, and it's remarkably cheap to produce.

Everything is literally insane right now, from the gutting of basic, core provisions in the U.S. Constitution, to a two party system that is the equivalent of heads you lose-tails you lose,  to a Non-Federal Reserve-less Non-Bank that is enabling a corrupt political class working on behalf of a corrupt Crony Capitalist (aka Socialist) class to nearly double the official (and fraudulently understated) debt in just 6 years by conjuring fiat toilet paper from thin air and buying treasuries in the secondary markets (an illegal backdoor end run around clearly prohibited activity), to a PCLN/CMG/SHLD (and let's not leave out toxic REITs, many of which have been 5 or 10 baggers since 2009 despite being mathematically insolvent)  full retard stock rally on trading volume that is now at 1999 levels (which is the last time the indexes were this high, in NOMINAL terms, coincidentally).

I offer the taxes from every 1st born child; I'd give more but.. the 2nd thru 4th will be paying the interest on the debt, 5th and 6th paying to defense contracters and bankers, while the 7th and 8th will be paying other families without jobs or skills to take care of themselves... But, we always hit their parents with a death tax to ensure they are devoid of dignity and there is not excess cash left for the others in the family to uprise, so maybe I can supplement with that.

Poor little Trayvon … turns out to be a burglar after all.

Funny. I still haven’t heard that fact mentioned by Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, Lawrence O’Donnell or Rachel Maddow on MSNBC tonight.

Nothing about “No Limit Nigga” on Twitter either:

Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a “burglary tool,” The Miami Herald has learned.

Trayvon, who claimed that an unnamed friend had given him the jewelry, was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald…

The MSM has a narrative: poor little Trayvon, a mere child armed only with an Arizona iced tea and a pack of Skittles, was murdered in cold blood by a White racist vigilante.

It turns out Zimmerman saw a suspicious acting thug prowling the neighborhood, reported him to the police, and is guilty of nothing more than asking poor little Trayvon what he was doing … WHEN HE WAS APPROACHED BY TRAYVON.

Trayvon viciously attacked Zimmerman, broke his nose, tried to bash his brains out, and then went for his gun.

Someone called “No Limit Nigga” is trying to fucking kill you for asking a question … and they are the victim?

Remember the story of the Zimmerman telegram from WWI?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimmermann_Telegram

There are a lot of German-named Mexican nationals (I know this particular Zimmerman is  supposed to be Cuban; see downthread).  The German influence is strong in Mexico because a Hapsburg was installed as a pretender to the Mexican throne (Emperor Maximillian).  This where the great Mexican beer comes from and that Mexican music that sounds like an oom-pa-pa band at Oktoberfest.

But like the WWI Zimmerman, this Zimmerman incident is probably an intelligence operation designed to foment strife where it is not necessary (thanks in part to the Zimmerman telegram, we went in on the wrong side in WWI).  A good race war is just what we need to derail the next phase of the Occupy Movement.  These bastards are one-trick ponies.  Its the old divide and conquer!

The Occupy movement is targeting Obama's biggest contributor base,  i.e. Wall Street.  Who is Soros?  Another financial looter.  Why would he finance Occupy (as well as SEIU, Moveon, and sundry other groups involved in destabilization operations)?  They serve the same purpose as the Brownshirts did for Hitler, to make the ordinary citizen fearful and demanding more "protection" from the state.

If the Occupy people and the Tea Party people ever got together, Soros and Wall Street would be in the crosshairs.  It takes a play like the Trayvon affair to keep them apart.  I'm already seeing Occupy supporters I know jumping on the Trayvon business by wearing hoodies in support.  This won't strengthen their movement but it might ignite a race war that will be just the grand distraction Obama needs.  Obama has already set the dynamite in the inner cities where black youth unemployment is over 50%.  Trayvon might be the fuse to set off riots ala' the Rodney King affair.  There is a long hot summer of discontent coming.

You must live on a nice gated community with armed guards shooting everyone in sight before they ever disturb your perfect little world.

I live in a nice middle class community which borders a rather run down larger city. There has been a dramatic rise in thefts and burglarized homes. My neighbors car was broken into in the middle of the night while we were all home sleeping. We all have guns and we are all on notice. We know there isn't a single black living in our neighborhood. Around the block one neighbor has a security cam monitoring his garage because he has over $100k worth of automotive tools and parts in it. His alarm was set off and his cam caught two black teenagers running from the garage.

If any one of my neighbors sees a suspicious black kid wandering around our yard in the middle of the night you bet every one of us will blow the person's head clean off. We all have young kids and we aren't taking any chances. That is life now. The majority of young blacks are criminals that would kill anyone they wish if they have the opportunity and that isn't a generalization or an unfair stereotyping. It is the truth and if you don't believe it you are naive.

Just remember theres a damn good chance that guy driving slow in his pickup just got dumped by his GF after she found out he was laid off earlier that day. He may also happen to have a 45acp on the seat next to him and understand how the law works when someone starts attacking you.. SEE Guns really do make folks more polite

Good points, the other facts glazed over was that George' Zimmerman is Cuban and poor little Trayvon as portrayed by MSM pictures is actually over 6' tall. Go to his Face Book page for more details never mentioned.

RIP Trayvon.

All the pics shown of poor little angel Trayvon from his early teens (12-14 yrs), rather than those of a 17yr old young adult.

I find that pretty funny as well. All the photos of this little kid. When I first saw the story my local news said that an 11 year old was shot. Turns out the only photo they got was one the mom put out of him when he was 11.

The story is such black race baiting garbage. This wasn't a little helpless kid on his way home from a convenient store. This was a 17 year old 6' thug gang member with a Kayne West wannabe mouth full of metal known as "No Limit Nigga" casing homes for his gang to rob. He was probably a scout trying to make his way up the ladder in a local gang.

The entire story shows the absolute hypocrisy of our politically correct bullshit media. Every single day a white person is shot dead by a black. They don't make national news and have groups of white people putting out bounties on the heads of the shooter. Every single day multiple black children are raped, killed, etc by other blacks without a peep being uttered by our great "impartial" media.

A young white kid was set on fire by a group of black kids. Not even mentioned on MSNBC.

In Chicago it's usually blacks murdering other blacks, and these deaths occur frequently. Hundreds of mostly black people (but not exclusively) rallied in the Loop to protest Treyvon's killing in distant FL, yet no one protests against the hundreds of blacks who are murdered in their own hometown. What hypocracy.

If you read the NDAA signing statement, the provision limiting the sharing of secrets with Russia was one of Obama's objections.  He never intended to adhere to that part of the law.

From the signing statement, http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/12/31/statement-presiden...

Other provisions in this bill above could interfere with my constitutional foreign affairs powers. Section 1244 requires the President to submit a report to the Congress 60 days prior to sharing any U.S. classified ballistic missile defense information with Russia….

Also, if you would fucking read the signing statement, you'd know Obama didn't have objections to the NDAA because it might be unconstitutional.  He had objections because of the few limits Congress tried to put on him.  Quit spreading that bullshit about Obama having objections because it was unconstitutional, Tyler.  Read the damn statement yourself.

One more for you Black Hole since you mentioned 666. 666 was the seal of Nero who slaughtered a pig when Jeruselam was recaptured. The number 666 is geometry, the triangle or pyramid. 333 represents a human lifespan of 80 years, 666 is 160 years or two lifespans of the model and depth of Monarchy with a ruler on top of the pyramid. Call it the 3D government model for three branches of government.

The angel in Revelations measures a new Jerusalem or a new government type consisting of twelve branches or a 12D model. America and other nations could attempt a 5D model consisting of the current three branches but adding banking and military for further checks and balances. I doubt such is implementable at this time and though I have ideas, I won't push it or try. The geopolitics must now play out first. I am under no illusions that I can change the system at this point in time. I do what I can to mitigate loss and look after some folks at the local level. God bless you all, we're going to need it.

The 'Obamination' of desolation? That would be quite the ironic fulfillment of Daniel and John of Patmos.

Daniel and John seemed to be the only two prophets that put numbers behind thier prophecies in years, number of combatants and casualties. If correct then it is good news in regards outcomes but a dangerous period of tribulation to live through.

Revelations is broken down into two parts, the wrath of man phase which describes world war caused by man's failure to learn from previous mistakes and the wrath of God phase summed up as an asteroid or comet strike.

I prefer logic, physics and cycles of human nature over scripture but it is tough for me to discard the accuracies of Daniel's calculations and John's description of a coalition of governments that are forming the beast. History is demonstrating national consolidations and pain of each. The good news is a world that is more stable, less skirmishes but now the wars are global and brutal. I would venture we'll learn the hard way as John wrote.

So I hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I believe the next eight years will test the mettle of nearly every individual.
