The Chart That Scares The "1%" The Most
Capitalists have been gripped by 'systemic fear' making them worry not about the day-to-day movements of growth, employment, and profit, but about 'losing their grip'. An interesting recent article by the Real-World Economics Review on the Asymptotes of Power focuses on the fact that the capitalists are forced to realize that their system may not be eternal, and that it may not survive in its current form. The authors fear that, peering into the future, the '1%' realize that in order to maintain (or further increase) their distributional power (their net profit share of national income - which hovers at record highs) they will have to unleash even greater doses of social 'violence' on the lower classes. The high level of force already being applied makes them increasingly fearful of the backlash they are about to receive (think Europe to a lesser extent) and nowhere is this relationship between the wealthy capitalists and social upheaval more evident than in the incredible correlation between the Top 10% share of wealth and the percent of the labor force in prison. In order to have reached the peak level of power it currently enjoys, the ruling class has had to inflict growing threats, sabotage and pain on the underlying population.
During the 1930s and 1940s, this level proved to be the asymptote of capitalist power: it triggered a systemic crisis, the complete reordering of the U.S. political economy, and a sharp decline in capitalist power, as indicated by the large drop in inequality.
As we can see, since the 1940s this ratio has been tightly and positively correlated with the distributional power of the ruling class: the greater the power indicated by the income share of the top 10 per cent of the population, the larger the dose of violence proxied by the correctional population. Presently, the number of ‘corrected’ adults is equivalent to nearly 5 per cent of the U.S. labour force. This is the largest proportion in the world, as well as in the history of the United States.
Nowadays, the notions of systemic fear and systemic crisis are no longer farfetched.
In fact, they seem to have become commonplace. Public figures – from dominant capitalists and corporate executives, to Nobel laureates and finance ministers, to journalists and TV hosts – know to warn us that the ‘system is at risk’, and that if we fail to do something about it, we may face the ‘end of the world as we know it’.
There is, of course, much disagreement on why the system is at risk. The explanations span the full ideological spectrum – from the far right, to the liberal, to the Keynesian, to the far left. Some blame the crisis on too much government and over-regulation, while others say we don’t have enough of those things. There are those who speak of speculation and bubbles, while others point to faltering fundamentals. Some blame the excessive increase in debt, while others quote credit shortages and a seized-up financial system. There are those who single out weaknesses in particular sectors or countries, while others emphasize the role of global mismatches and imbalances. Some analysts see the root cause in insufficient demand, whereas others feel that demand is excessive. While for some the curse of our time is greedy capitalists, for others it is the entitlements of the underlying population. The list goes on.
But the disagreement is mostly on the surface. Stripped of their technical details and political inclinations, all existing explanations share two common foundations: (1) they all adhere to the two dualities of political economy: the duality of ‘politics vs. economics’ and the duality within economics of ‘real vs. nominal’; and (2) they all look backward, not forward.
As a consequence of these common foundations, all existing explanations, regardless of their orientation, seem to agree on the following three points:
- The essence of the current crisis is ‘economic’: politics certainly plays a role (good or bad, depending on the particular ideological viewpoint), but the root cause lies in the economy.
- The crisis is amplified by a mismatch between the ‘real’ and ‘nominal’ aspects of the economy: the real processes of production and consumption point in the negative direction, and these negative developments are further aggravated by the undue inflation and deflation of nominal financial bubbles whose unsynchronized expansion and contraction make a bad situation worse.
- The crisis is rooted in our past sins. For a long time now, we have allowed things to deteriorate: we’ve let the ‘real economy’ weaken, the ‘bubbles of finance’ inflate and the ‘distortions of politics’ pile up; in doing so, we have committed the cardinal sin of undermining the growth of the economy and the accumulation of capital; and since, according to the priests of economics, sinners must pay for their evil deeds, there is no way for us to escape the punishment we justly deserve – the systemic crisis.
Although there are no hard and fast rules here, it is doubtful that this massive punishment can be increased much further without highly destabilizing consequences. With the underlying magma visibly shifting, the shadow of the asymptote cannot be clearer.

what exactly is this said 'Libeterianism' that you speak of?
I believe that it is some form of vision problem related to churchgoing, something like presbyopiterianism. Not to be be confused with "Libermanism", which is the fanatical desire to start unjustified wars in the putative defense of a tiny troublemaking nation in the middle east.
Bullish for popcorn.
Wow, that's some dumbass bullshit.
Keep blaming the invisible rich for what your government and its rentier class of employees has actually done to you.
Whom, if anyone, would you interpret owns the allegiance of and directs the prerogatives of your two cited constituencies?
The rich are invisible because they can be.
It wasn't the government employees who got trillions in bailouts - it was the somewhat invisible rich. It's not the government employees who really make the rules for commodities trading, financial derivatives, who we go to war with, etc - it's the somewhat invisible rich. It's not the government employees that decide to make free trade with China/Mexico,etc - it's the somewhat invisible rich. Federal government employee costs are trivial in the total Federal budget. Most of them are military and they don't make a lot.
as an aside, since this article didn't say much but did so with superb prose, incarceration is the most barbaric, brutal, and trogladyte way for despots to deal with crimes and dissent.....the next waystation on the way to mass murder is concentration camps - something for which romney and obama lust in their stone hearts.....the high level of incarceration is an index to the criminality - not of the criminals - but of the prison keepers...the usa has a serious need for regime change
The terminals are comming.
Be a terminal.
I hate to say it, but in this case correlation does not imply causation.
Just because the rich got richer over the same time that more Amerikans ended up in jail does not mean one caused the other. Except for capitalists who run the for profit prison system that is.
They knew it and that's why they had to built so many FEMA camps for the rest.
and passed NDAA, no free speech zones, own the MSM, bought 500 million rounds of hollow tip bullets, have foreign armies (example Russia) practicing in the US, portable pillboxes for highways. When OWS started focusing on the 1%'ers, that is when TPTB hit panic button
The Generational Reset is coming, and indeed we live in an interesting time.
Is the income chart before or after tax? I'd like to see the same chart for after tax income.
Get ready 1%'s, Hell has 99% of its room waiting for you. We lived with difficulty for 80 years or so, you'll live in unimaginable horror for eternity. The best part is that they don't believe in Hell, making their trip there a lock.

Religion is a control mechanism for children.
If you believe in Hell it means you are a puppet. THEIR puppet.
Fool.

I bet my invisible sky demon can whoop your invisible sky demon's invisible ass!
According to the latest string theory quantam physics multiverse models, there are infinite other universes, variations on the one we inhabit. That gentelmen, means somewhere out there in one of the alternate universes there has to be an alternate planet Earth on which all men date supermodels that poop gold nuggets when you rub them the right way. Just sayin.
meh, this has already been priced in.
In America, smoke a little pot and you can get ruined for life. Don't pay $100 in taxes and you are thrown in jail.
Make billions of dollars off the drug trade, and offshore trillions of dollars of wealth to tax havens, and you get rewarded with free money from the Fed.
The United States is, without question, the single most corrupt nation on planet Earth.
very well put, add in Hillary lecturing the world on Human Rights
I don't know, there's some pretty goddam corrupt nations out there. Most murderous of other countries, I would say the US is, definitely. It seems like corruption is very big in every big country, and most small countries, especially the poorer ones. At least that was my experience back when I travelled alot, before I stopped flying because I don't want some pedophile drug smugglling thieving TSA fuckface getting their grope on with me.
Good post, nice Avatar. +1
Shit truly floats to the top.
Its not altogether clear that the main causes of the increases in incarceration rates are a result of an economic ruling class attempting to preemptively suppress challenges to their power through the criminal "justice" system.
There are alternate explanations of this phenomena although they describe no less pernicious an effect on societal stability.
The 1920's were marked by the Volstead Act, Prohibition, and an enormous upswing in acivity REDEFINED as criminal associated with the illicit alcohol industry. Likewise the gigantic increase in the number of incarcerated people since 1980 or so is largely associated with attempts at aggressively suppressing illicit drug use. In 1980 a quarter of Federal Prisoners were imprisoned for drug crimes. The number now is more than twice that (about 55-60%). Further, sentences have generally been lengthened, and sentences imposed for what once would have resulted in probation, and truth in sentencing has resulted in parole at the federal level. The result has been a build up of people in prison for longer and for doing less in the first place to get there, and once there having no way out except to complete the sentence.
I think this is more clearly the result of the growing and totally poisonous influence of the christian right in the body politic. Their perception of the best route to an orderly society is completely comfortable with the idea of imprisoning large numbers of people for offenses that are more accurately described as immoral behavior now recast as criminal behavior.
The simplicity with which the christian right magnifies and manipulates prejudices of all kinds to gain power results, once they have it, in the use of power to punish those who, by their lights, simply won't behave. There is no society, anywhere, that has benefited from the impact of fundamentalist religion on their political process. Quite the opposite.
You mistake cause for effect. The Christian Right does not rule, the rulers use the christian right as part of the polarization scheme that keeps the dogs on each others throats and away from the rulers.
Drugs are seen as a moral issue when it is convienient and a medical issue when it is deemed necessary. LSD caused genetic damage or so went the popular media screed.
Marijuana caused murder, rape and a break down of morals such that white women had sex with black men.
Drugs, like money are tools of control, and so too the laws that control drugs and money.
The only real us and them, involves not dogma or beleif, but a tremendous amount of dollar signs, commas and zeros.
Don't fall into their traps, realize you are being manipulated every moment you are within their sphere of media influence.
you mean white women would never have sex with black men for their muscular abdomens?
Only if they can snort white powder lines spread on the six pack abs...
That is the only US citizen way.
Translation: shoot your T.V.
I'm not sure Christianity has much to do with it. The path from dungeons to massive incarceration is a long complex history (with much to do with the "cruel and unusual" clause in the U.S. constitution). The explosion of incarceration in the past 40 years in the U.S. is certainly a result of the "war on drugs" launched by Nixon.
But this explosion has fuel in that prisons are structures that function to maintain social order. Young people who become addicted to drugs self-identify (by the very choice to use drugs) as disaffected. The war on drugs functions to allow disaffected proletariat to identify themselves for detainment. The massive prisons prevent the constant riots that would ensue otherwise in the poorest neighborhoods in America. Have you been in parts of Brooklyn? South Chicago? Detriot? Washington D.C.? South Central Los Angeles? These places are virtual war-zones. The prisons are the only thing preventing these places from becoming actual war zones.
I would say what every con says after being released for the first time... "Prison is just a school for criminals."
The maggots aren't capitalists, they are kleptocrats. When the money is no good no more they are sunk.
a kleptocrat is a capitalist gone Oligarchy networked and crony government connected, so that markets can be manipulated in his favour. The money is just an expression of their power. As long as they have the power they can change the rules all the time and money is only the skin of the snake which they can shed ad nausem; debasing it, manipulating its metamorphosis like Belzebubs. Their only real problem is the inherent entropy of the system which will destroy them if people's groundswell pressure does not. But the logical route is for the people to exert groundswell pressure and get their government/country back. That is what civilization is about; not waiting for entropy's debilitating disease to play out. As in the power vacuum created by organic and chaotic systemic demise under entropy crisis other Empires get sucked in to replace the dying one. History is such a bitch. Only human will can alter this recurrent dystopian pattern.
Complacency always killed the fat cats. We are here because the capitalist system is now gone viral and core corrupt.
The maggots aren't capitalists, they are kleptocrats.

Well, in the process of accumulating capital, theft is welcomed.
No matter how much you accumulate per day, if at the end of the day, you manage to grab that candy bar from that kid, your capital is increased by one candy bar.
Theft can not be bypassed when the aim is to accumulate more and more capital.
The problem is solved thusly:
In the future there will be (mosty just) two kinds of of people, criminals and the public sector that supports them. Let me explain. All criminals will be required to "pay" for the costs of their incarceration, they will have to sign notes stating that they are on the hook for $60,000/year. The good people at Goldman Sachs will then securitize these notes. The notes will be bundled up, sliced up, and sold to pension funds. Everything will be perfectly fine until some Fabulous person at Goldman Sachs realizes that criminals don't make that much money after leaving prison. Then the house of cards will fall apart, but not before a lot of people "need to" go to jail. People will go to jail for the pettiest of "crimes".
Fish Gone Bad
Well, this is the kind of cutting edge scholarship and analysis that earned a young and hirsute Ben Bernanke his PhD. Look where that sort of academic brilliance got him, and us.
Because of this report, I now know that in order for Steve Jobs to sell iPads and Mark Zuckerberg to (temporarily) join the $20 Billion Man Club, it was necessary for a couple of sociopaths to carry a gun into a 7-11 and scare the bejesus out of the pimply-faced teenager behind the counter. Makes perfect sense.
As obvious and inviolably logical as this analysis is, I might be risking heresy by wondering what was going on during the 1920's. Were those Roaring Twenties 1%ers more noble and less ruthless? I wonder if I could prove, using the same methodology as this article, that doing the Charleston is conducive to social harmony and living by the Golden Rule? On the other hand, might it be even more illuminating to prove that when judges and police are too busy watching Flappers shake their cute tushes, crime goes free and unpunished.
If the PTB on this peer review site allow it, I can advance my own pet theory that crime and punishment are directly correlated to the number of televisions per capita amongst the general populace. It's uncanny.
I wonder when the sheeple will realize the 1%'ers are haveing them sprayed heavily with chemtrails daily, rain or shine, hell or high water....
Fuck YOU's all Chemtrail spraying participants and enablers....
Fuck YOU's....!!!!!!!!!
We're living in a world where the water metaphorically continue to rise and the money grubbers are stealing the life preservers. Therefore, many are desperate. Not a good time for the mega-rich to flaunt it, I think. They may get more than papparatzi.
It's not metaphorical. Sea-levels are rising.
Toynbee's study of civilizations led him to conclude that successful ones usually end with the elite sucking up most of the wealth and maintaining their position by increased control while the general populations welfare declines. We got that. They are a long way from being hung yet though since their propaganda methods are much improved over Himmler's. Gay marriage! Abortion! Socialism!
what is the timeframe for a successful civilization and what is the resultant cost for its decline to those who are its future generations, spawned after or during the fall?
That is part of the equation if you undertand human evolution and history.
We have a good example in ancient Rome or ancient Athens. Take Rome : uber-alles from 146 BC... (end of 3rd Punic War, destruction of Corinth and Mare Nostrum hegemony. Rome's population quintupled in ten years when the social wars began because of resulting imported slave labour.)... to 325 AD; when Constantinople emerged, aka 500 years.
Rome has been a political surrogate from that date to this current date, aka 1700 years, where only the ROman universal church gave it pre-eminence in a divided and occupied Italy. For Athens it was even worse.
What does this teach us? That Imperial sway has a heavy price associated to it, as the mindset is corrupted for successive centuries and very difficult to resuscitate. Ask the Romans and the Athenians today, or the Persians and Arabs!
The nexus of the politicians and the top 1% richest in the world is making sure that the transfer of wealth from bottom to top is being done at breathtaking speed. This is definitely going to result in a war between the classes in the form of riots due to growing unemployment and hunger.

+10 very good perspective.
On the Charybdis of Statism and the Scylla of global Corpocracy.
I opened this thread expecting to see a chart of personal hours of labor and sweat/effort expended - that's the chart that scares the rentiers the most. On the other hand - perhaps their paid security forces will be willing to lay down their lives for the boss...it could happen...maybe...maybe not...
I sure hope that the 1% have honed their sales skills and gifts of persuasion.
No, it's not the hours and it's not the rentiers.
It's the theft flat-out, hours you work for which ZERO compensation is allowed - slavery. Both corporations & governments do it. Once they do it too much they are put to death by fire and blades.
That's how it is.
There's no rentiers involved, only killers and slavers and those not yet awake enough to fight back.
For the few who have already made an exit stage-left, no further comment is required (and none is wanted but for a little advice, see if maybe another lemming will wake up & leave)
At least in prison you get three hots and a cot, and free medical, tv gym membership, free sex and free education.
I can think of a few banksters and money trust scum that could make that chart go a little higher.
Lets not forget how the prison system makes money off of the prisoners, kind of similar to the concentration and re-education camps in the Nazi Europe, and Siberia.
Same deal IMO.
For now, pal, but considering the situation, that could change. No more cots, just beans' meels...

A Re-Analysis
of the
Michelson/Morley Interferometer
Since the whole theory of relative motion is a theory of measurement and operation, one cannot blow by the operation of measurement without asking how lengths are seen and measured. Feynman fails to precisely assign his variables. Feynman's illustration of the M/M interferometer also assumes, like every illustration before it, that the scientist collecting data from the device and the scientist looking at the illustration are the same person, or interchangable people. But in this case, the "theoretical scientist" looking down at the illustration and the "practical scientist" actually collecting data happen to be in different co-ordinate systems. They beg for a transformation equation. You need a transform simply to go from inside the illustration to outside the illustration. This is one safe that Feynman failed to crack.
But in this case, the "theoretical scientist" looking down at the illustration and the "practical scientist" actually collecting data happen to be in different co-ordinate systems.
You clearly do not know scat about relativity. Pray tell, what are the different coordinate systems?

WHAT SO-CALLED "CAPITALISTS" HERE ARE INDEED....
A very interesting history reading, still quite relevant until today!!!
The History of the House of Rottenschilds by Andrew Hitchcock
"The Rottenschilds have been in control of the world for a very long time, their tentacles reaching into many aspects of our daily lives, as is documented in the following timeline. However, before you jump to the timeline, please read this invaluable introduction which will tell you who the Rottenschilds are as oppose to who they claim to be.
. . .
The most wealthy bloodline in the world bar none and the leader of the Ashkenazi J--s in the world today is the Rottenschilds family. As you will see in the timeline, the Rottenschilds have obtained this position through lies, manipulation and murder. Their bloodline also extends into the Royal Families of Europe, and the following family names: ASTOR; BUNDY; COLLINS; DUPONT; FREEMAN; KENNEDY; MORGAN; OPPENHEIMER; ROCK3FELL3R; SASSOON; SCHIFF; TAFT; and VAN DUYN.
Reading above one will realize that the Rock3fell3r family are Rottenschilds descendants through a FEMALE bloodline!!!
And how this family intermarried with it's first and second cousins to preserve the family fortune (of the 18 marriages by Mayer Amschel Rottenschild's grandchildren, 16 were between first cousins - a practice known today as inbreeding).

Then some info about the Bilderberg Conference!
The Illuminati are a kind of secret world government, their main goal is to create the New World Order (NWO), a fascist-communist global 1984-style dictatorship where every citizen is totally controlled with an implanted RFID chip. One of the exoteric key institutions of the illuminations are the Bilderbergs, for example.
Within the illuminati one can distinguish THREE circles:
(1) EXOTERIC (OUTER) circle: e.g. Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and others. Many on this level (e.g. one-time Bilderberg participants) are more or less clueless what's really going on, but their egos are pleased that they are so close to those with the real power.
(2) INNER circle: e.g. regular Bilderberg participants
(3) ESOTERIC circle: e.g. Grand Masters of occult societies. That's where the NWO (New World Order) plans are erected. If these plans are implemented or not depends a lot on whether the outer circle can be convinced.
Back to Bilderberg: in the first decades secrecy was crucial but meanwhile they have become so powerful that that secrecy gets less and less important. Meanwhile we are close to the totalitarian-fascist New World Order, so it's time to accustom the population to the new world order government... MOREOVER, THERE IS ENORMOUS BIOLOGICAL TIME PRESSURE, time is running out for the esoteric circle: ZBIG BRZEZINSKI is 82 years old, HENRY KISSINGER 87 years, and DAVID ROCK3FELL3R even 95 years. They have worked many decades for their big goal and have to act (too) fast, which will bring about their downfall.

If one has the further curiosity, following books are good reading as well.
TRAGEDY AND HOPE: A HISTORY OF THE WORLD IN OUR TIME (1966) By Carroll Quigley
One should not spare this great book to fill in the explanation vacuum of mankind troubling history during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Professor Quigley was an extraordinarily gifted historian and geo-political analyst. The insights and information contained in his massive study open the door to a true understanding of world history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
It is a work of exceptional scholarship and is truly a classic.
"At Harvard, biochemistry was to be his major. But Harvard, expressing then a belief regarding a well-rounded education to which it has now returned, required a core curriculum including a course in the humanities. Quigley chose a history course, "Europe Since the Fall of Rome." Always a contrary man, he was graded at the top of his class in physics and calculus and drew a C in the history course. But the development of ideas began to assert its fascination for him, so he elected to major in history. He graduated magna cum laude as the top history student in his class.
Tragedy And Hope: A History Of The World In Our Time (1966) By Carroll Quigley

It's quite advisable that one reads the Quigley's work along with below companion guideline.
THE NAKED CAPITALIST (1970) by W. Cleon Skousen
Former FBI Agent W. Cleon Skousen’s book THE NAKED CAPITALIST first published in 1970 is described by the author as: “A Review and Commentary on Dr. Carroll Quigley’s (1966) Book: Tragedy and Hope—A History of the World In Our Time.”
Skousen’s book is highly recommended because it helps one understand the more salient issues Quigley has documented and puts Quigley’s monstrosity in perspective. Skousen helps the reader to comprehend what Quigley has written and discern Quigley’s biases.

Why would anyone give you 2 down on this? Its not like you made this information up.
The protectors of truth at work maybe?
I guess i should have made it clear earlier that the world's very trouble makers are the 0.01% CAPITALISTS who are gripping the world tightly at their hands, not just the ANY capitalist who is just too ordinary (to cause any substantial effect)!
yet in seeking the truth and only truth, who gives a damn to the down arrows? no amount of downs will beat the truth!
Reflection, reflection, reflection!
"...they will have to unleash even greater doses of social 'violence' on the lower classes."
"In order to have reached the peak level of power it currently enjoys, the ruling class has had to inflict growing threats, sabotage and pain on the underlying population."
Am I to take those as some definitions of 'capitalism"????? Umm excuse me, but capitalism is made up of voluntary human action.
I was speaking to my neighbor, who moved in a few weeks ago.
We were trading stories. Both of us had seen far better days and are in about the same shape now. Neither of us own anything and are struggling.
"Yeah, had 45 employees a few years ago. Even though I had tats and wore t-shirts, when I walked into my bank they called me Mr.," he told me, "now look at me."
"Look at it this way," I replied, "We both made a lot of mistakes, but at least we tried. Hell, that is better than sitting on the couch wishing we could do something."
We looked at each other and grinned.
Yes, the 1% are not just ordinary people, every last rich person is involved in a super secret society, where they vote on how best to supress everyone else. They are all evil hateful people, therefore we can hsve a clear conscience when we kill them all. Its just like Hitler said, they are responsible for what is wrong with society.
Killing them will bring nothing.
Middle class consumption is the issue.
Rich own much more than they can consume over a dozen of generations. But not enough to maintain US ciitzen middle class in their consumption habits.
No, rampantly growing and unsustainable Chinese consumptionism (and the associated massive environmental destruction) is the issue. As always, Chinese citizenism blobbing-up is to blame --- never underestimate the Chinese citizenism potential, and desire, to destructively blob-up.
Then, of course, their is the concomitant Chinese citizenism denialism, which even denies its own existence, while blobbing-up on the philosophical plane. Such is the eternal subhuman nature of running dog Chinese Citizenism.

Repost: Another Hidden US-Israeli Military Agenda: Balkanisation of Syrian Arab Republic By “Breaking It Into Pieces”by PHANTOM REPORT on JUNE 20, 2012
Source: The 4th Media
Detailed analysis on Syria.
A timely article in the Jerusalem Post last month brings to the forefront the unspoken objective of US foreign policy, namely the breaking up of Syria as a sovereign nation state –along ethnic and religious lines– into several separate and “independent” political entities. The article also confirms the role of Israel in the process of political destabilization of Syria. The JP article is titled: “Veteran Kurdish politician calls on Israel to support the break-up of Syria‘ (by Jonathan Spyer) (The Jerusalem Post (May 16, 2012)
The objective of the US sponsored armed insurgency is –with the help of Israel– to “Break Syria into Pieces”.
The “balkanisation of the Syrian Arab Republic” is to be carried out by fostering sectarian divisions, which will eventually lead to a “civil war” modelled on the former Yugoslavia. Last month, Syrian “opposition militants” were dispatched to Kosovo to organize training sessions using the “terrorist expertise” of the US sponsored Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in fighting the Yugoslav armed forces.
Sherkoh Abbas, President of the US based Kurdistan National Assembly of Syria (KNA) has “called on Israel to support the break-up of Syria into a series of federal structures based on the country’s various ethnicities.” (Ibid)
One possible ”break-up scenario” pertaining to Syria, which constitutes a secular multi-ethnic society, would be the formation of separate and “independent” Sunni, Alawite-Shiite, Kurdish and Druze states: “We need to break Syria into pieces,” Abbas said. (Quoted in JP, op. cit., emphasis added).
Ironically, while Islamist forces are said to constitute the main threat to the Jewish State, Tel Aviv is providing covert support to the Islamist Free Syrian Army (FSA).

MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2012URGENT: Expose NATO Dirty Tricks in Syria BEFORE They Happen
NATO preparing vast disinformation campaign.
Thierry Meyssanvoltairenet.org
June 12, 2012
In a few days, perhaps as early as Friday, June 15, at noon, the Syrians wanting to watch their national TV stations will see them replaced on their screens by TV programs created by the CIA. Studio-shot images will show massacres that are blamed on the Syrian Government, people demonstrating, ministers and generals resigning from their posts, President Al-Assad fleeing, the rebels gathering in the big city centers, and a new government installing itself in the presidential palace.
This operation of disinformation, directly managed from Washington by Ben Rhodes, the US deputy national security adviser for strategic communication, aims at demoralizing the Syrians in order to pave the way for a coup d’etat. NATO, discontent about the double veto of Russia and China, will thus succeed in conquering Syria without attacking the country illegally. Whichever judgment you might have formed on the actual events in Syria, a coup d’etat will end all hopes of democratization.
The Arab League has officially asked the satellite operators Arabsat and Nilesat to stop broadcasting Syrian media, either public or private (Syria TV, Al-Ekbariya, Ad-Dounia, Cham TV, etc.) A precedent already exists because the Arab League had managed to censure Libyan TV in order to keep the leaders of the Jamahiriya from communicating with their people. There is no Hertz network in Syria, where TV works exclusively with satellites. The cut, however, will not leave the screens black.
Actually, this public decision is only the tip of the iceberg. According to our information several international meetings were organized during the past week to coordinate the disinformation campaign. The first two were technical meetings, held in Doha (Qatar); the third was a political meeting and took place in Riyad (Saudi Arabia).
The first meeting assembled PSYOP officers, embedded in the satellite TV channels of Al-Arabiya, Al-Jazeera, BBC, CNN, Fox, France 24, Future TV and MTV. It is known that since 1998, the officers of the US Army Psychological Operations Unit (PSYOP) have been incorporated in CNN. Since then this practice has been extended by NATO to other strategic media as well.
They fabricated false information in advance, on the basis of a “story-telling” script devised by Ben Rhodes’s team at the White House. A procedure of reciprocal validation was installed, with each media quoting the lies of the other media to render them plausible for TV spectators. The participants also decided not only to requisition the TV channels of the CIA for Syria and Lebanon (Barada, Future TV, MTV, Orient News, Syria Chaab, Syria Alghad) but also about 40 religious Wahhabi TV channels to call for confessional massacres to the cry of “Christians to Beyrouth, Alawites into the grave!.”
The second meeting was held for engineers and technicians to fabricate fictitious images, mixing one part in an outdoor studio, the other part with computer generated images. During the past weeks, studios in Saudi Arabia have been set up to build replicas of the two presidential palaces in Syria and the main squares of Damascus, Aleppo and Homs. Studios of this type already exist in Doha (Qatar), but they are not sufficient.
The third meeting was held by General James B. Smith, the US ambassador, a representative of the UK, prince Bandar Bin Sultan (whom former U.S. president George Bush named his adopted son so that the U.S. press called him “Bandar Bush”). In this meeting the media actions were coordinated with those of the Free "Syrian" Army, in which prince Bandar’s mercenaries play a decisive role.
The operation had been in the making for several months, but the U.S. National Security Council decided to accelerate the action after the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, notified the White House that he would oppose by all means, even by force, any illegal NATO military intervention in Syria.
The operation has a double intent: the first is to spread false information, the second aims at censuring all possible responses.
The hampering of TV satellites for military purposes is not new. Under pressure from Israel, the USA and the EU blocked Lebanese, Palestinian, Iraqi, Libyan and Iranian TV channels, one after the other. However, no satellite channels from other parts of the world were censured.
The broadcast of false news is also not new, but four significant steps have been taken in the art of propaganda during the last decade.
• In 1994, a pop music station named “Free Radio of the Thousand Hills” (RTML) gave the signal for genocide in Rwanda with the cry, “Kill the cockroaches!”
• In 2001, NATO used the media to impose an interpretation of the 9/11 attacks and to justify its own aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. At that time already, it was Ben Rhodes who had been commissioned by the Bush administration to concoct the Kean/Hamilton Commission report on the attacks.
• In 2002, the CIA used five TV channels (Televen, Globovision, ValeTV and CMT) to make the public in Venezuela believe that phantom demonstrators had captured the elected president, Hugo Chávez, forcing him to resign. In reality he was the victim of a military coup d’etat.
• In 2011, France 24 served as information ministry for the Libyan CNT, according to a signed contract. During the battle of Tripoli, NATO produced fake studio films, then transmitted them via Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, showing phantom images of Libyan rebels on the central square of the capital city, while in reality they were still far away. As a consequence, the inhabitants of Tripoli were persuaded that the war was lost and gave up all resistance.
Nowadays the media do not only support a war, they produce it themselves.
This procedure violates the principles of International Law, first of all Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights relating to the fact of receiving and imparting information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” Above all, the procedure violates the United Nations General Assembly resolution, adopted after the end of World War II, to prevent further wars. Resolutions 110, 381 and 819 forbid “to set obstacles to free exchange of information and ideas” (like cutting off Syrian TV channels) and “all propaganda provoking or encouraging threats to peace, breaking peace, and all acts of aggression”. By law, war propaganda is a crime against peace, the worst of crimes, because it facilitates war crimes and genocide.

thank you, tyler. i guess when civilization reaches this point the jails, camps and graveyarrds are over flowing.
It is really funny how US citizens are bent to forget their own achievements.
One achievement is the decentralization of power achieved by US citizens.
US citizen elite no longer rule on their own behalf. Contrary to a King, US citizen elite no longer find justification of their power into themselves, they find the justification in the US citizen middle class.
Be it the political elite, the economical elite, all of them are empowered by the US citizen middle class.
Politicians rule with the consent of the governed and the US citizen middle class makes the elections.
Corporations draw their revenues from the US citizen middle class. Corporations are the expression of middle class societies.
This changes everything. The song about the 1pc, 0.1pc has no ground.
Those ones are beyond war. Because thanks to US citizenism, they have accumulated so much and keep accumulated so much war is no longer a survival burden to them.
War is a survival endeavour for US citizen middle class, the US citizen middle class consume so much that supply lines have to expand (physically less and less possible) and maintain.
Wars are waged to maintain the US citizen middle class in their lifestyle. US citizen upper class no longer need them as they own so much.
This omission makes the article so wrong. US citizen class upper class no longer need to exert violence on the downtrodden. The US citizen middle class takes charge of that. It is this class that requires that kind of actions. Upper class will not lead, only manage the pressure coming from middle class and take their share.
US citizenism is about classwarfare. And the US citizen class has been the most aggressive by war, fueling the colonization process and the associated wars, killing upper and lower class all the same.
US citizen middle class is the most endangered in present days. US citizen middle class has a different relantionship with the environment than the upper class that could last much longer on the planet's reserve and must prevent lower class from gaining speed as the resources to sustain the current middle class are running out.
Looting the rich will buy minutes to the middle class and there is an increasing pressure on the middle class to eradicate the lower class for fear they move up the ladder, therefore worsening middle class'problems.
Anonfucious say: Let Chinese citizenism man who is without sin cast the first roadside turd.
Wisdomness containinged in that very much so. Remindings me another wisdomary quotion.
Confusious say: AnAnonymousism like many words of nonsensation shat upon roadside. Many paragraphs indicate many piles. And always neglecting to bottom wipings.
As Confucius once said: "Man walking through airport sideways going to Bangkok - unless he Chinese."
“When we see men of worth, we should think of equaling them; when we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inward and examine ourselves.” — Confucius (551-479 BCE)
Who Was Confucius?
Confucius (September 28, 551 BC – 479 BC) was a Chinese social philosopher, whose teachings are well known for their emphasis on personal and government morality, family values, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity.
His thoughts became so popular that they had been developed into a system of philosophy known as Confucianism. Popularity was not confined to China either. It spread to Korea, Japan and Vietnam and was introduced to Europe by Jesuit Matteo Ricci.

This is not the capitalism crisi
this is the INTERVENTISM CRISI
we are living under fiat money !!!
http://mises.org/daily/5773
In praise of the capitalist 1 percent
http://mises.org/daily/1773
Why intervention persist
Capitalism without capital is not capitalism. Debt is not wealth.
debt is welth because you own slaves that will work for you
Ah, fact meets fiction and at last we have here the catch phrase : the crisis is rooted in our past sins!
No running away from it, Pax Americana is the expression of that past sin, that runs this world. Fix it and you start fixing the world's problems centered around the false economic and financial paradigm it created and the political fall-out this entails to sustain it. Corpofascism is its other name and its a global game. Reaganomics-Thatcherism-NWO-Bushism-WS Cabalism is all part of the same continuum of the politcal strain that is the outside manifestation of this closed, elitist system of values/power groups. We the people who suffer at its hands have to get inside this closed heirarchy to destroy its hold on society. After all, in a democratic republic it rules in our name with our hard earned money.
The 'problem' is corruption and little else. The author seems to completely miss this.
"One people under law" may have been a fine and noble founding principle but it's laughable in today's contexts; just look at Dimon's testimony recently. It seems the most pronounced/evident in the USA, but the corruption is widespread, deepseated and global.
The MSM is just distraction. Our leaders are corrupt/captured/ineffectual/incompetent/parasitic/pathological/etc.
Since the corruption has run so long and become so deep-rooted, the solution should be obvious (but sad) and the only remaining question is whether there are enough bullets.
The other question is who has them...
Re the chart that scares the 1% the most
Since the goal of the uber-elite is to OWN IT ALL, I hardly think a chart which shows them only owning a measly 50% is likely to "scare" them - unless the author means "scaring" them into making more of an effort to get the job done.
Indeed, if they're shaking in their boots at all, rest assured that it's not with fear - but with contemptuous laughter.
Under our current economic/financial system the reason for this collapse is simple. Money has outstripped production. Along with this we have a Gov't that spends more than it takes in. But the most frieghtening of all is giving the reward of hard work to those who will not work.
You mean "hard work" like naked short selling and plugging in off-the-shelf algorithms? Or "hard work" like renting Botnets on Yahoo Finance for temporary campaigns?
I think what those - mostly in my own party, the GOP - bemoaning the pseudo-fact that Americans are becoming "jealous of the Rich" fail to acknowledge is that most do not resent those "Rich" who build wealth by building enterprises which contribute to the Greater Good.
The real resentment is reserved for those "financial engineers" who have essentially stolen wealth from everyone else, creating nothing but stashes of unproductive assets not being used to further the Greater Good.
People feel that the Social Contract has suddenly shattered and that we are back with the Law of the Jungle, except with many fewer than normal Lions and Cheetahs and many more than usual Zebras and Antelopes.
There never was any social contract.
Look at this chart of two things that have nothing to do with each other! But the crisis is economic!
This is the worst article I've ever seen on ZH. And I've been reading since 2009.
There's something to be had in thinking about social power and the state and the recent attempts by those within the state to increase their power over the rest of society. There's also something to be said that the state attempts to increase its power in times of crisis whether real or imagined.
As about 60% of the US prison population is black or latino, I rather doubt the 1% is much concerned about their lost productivity.
Nonetheless, for those who engineered the dispossession of the US middle class via the importation of cheap labor and the exportation of factories and high value tech jobs, I'd be more than happy to contribute bullets to, or even participate in the firing squad when they are tried and convicted as traitors, and are being lined up against the wall.
Then again, there IS this:

Oracle CEO Ellison To Buy Most Of Hawaiian Island Lanai

Larry's got it figured out.
This island will be so exclusive that only people with a net worth of $10,000,000 will qualify for the minimal jobs of dishwashing and waiting on tables in the restaurants of the island.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
boil it down folks: crime pays. the system is based on Al Capone's empire.
for those socialist who decry wealth of others as evil and demand more gov control: the criminals in gov love you.
for those capitalist who demand freedom: were is the failure of mega corps in bail out land?
high crimes were understood to need swift and awful justice..
No Justice no failure multiple laws never enforced..the socialists define themselves idiots all
freedom always comes with a price in blood..better we not think to hard about it

Poverty has killed far more people and caused far more strife in the world than all the wars combined. They are doing a hell of a job inflicting poverty on Americans, be it through welfare, public housing, the War on Drugs, asset forefiture, anti-male child support, and so on. The most stratified society is the most violent society, but I doubt this graph is keeping any of the 10 percenters up at night.
hey, everyone is somebody's fool.
I'd rather be God's fool than the devil's. Some people are trophies of one or the other, exemplary individuals.
Need we repeat the mantra? Correlation is not causation. Just because the incarcerated population is greater does not mean this is directly attributable to the actions of a plutocracy. Demographics, politics, economic situation, family (or lack thereof) and plenty of other factors all play a role. There is no conspiracy here. Move along.
I have to stop eating ice cream (but not stop buying PM's) because that's when I have most of my boating accidents.
The essence of the current crisis is ‘economic’: politics certainly plays a role (good or bad, depending on the particular ideological viewpoint), but the root cause lies in the economy.
I couldn't disaagree more. It is ALWAYS a mistake to discuss economics or politics in isolation. Economics is about how things get made, and politics is about who gets to keep them. The two cannot be seperated. The political system is always a hindrance to the economic one, while sometimes also being a help in some areas. A functioning and actually "just" judicial system certainly helps, but we don't have one, and that is obvious. The political elite use the judicial system for self-protection; always have, always will.
Violent theft from the producer class is one of the essential hallmarks of any political system. There is no functional difference between the taxman and the masked highway gunman. Both use the same methods and achieve the same goals. The only difference, and it is one that is only surface-deep, is that one wears the imprimatur of officialdom, and one does not.
It is almost as if the OP contends that the bailouts were economic in nature. Of course, as ZH readers we all know that is not the case.
The premise is ludicrous, there are no capitalists in "the 1%".
