China Shuns US And Invests Direct In Iran Oil-Fields

Tyler Durden's picture

Between Clinton's 'prices to be paid' and Obama's new trade-war, is it any wonder the Chinese have decided to escalate their 'more-than-rhetoric' from bartering away from the USD. After ignoring the sanctions and then receiving their exemption, PressTV reports tonight that China is to invest in developing north and south Iranian oil fields (which will produce 700,000 barrels per day of crude). One of the oil fields, Azadegan, has one of the world’s largest oil deposits, with in-place oil reserves estimated at 42 billion barrels - enough to tide China over a for a while - as Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi adds after 10-15 years of negotiations the decision has finally (and coincidentally very timely) been reached as "the Chinese side has started its activities by investing USD 20 billion in the oil fields".

Via PressTV:

Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi says China has agreed to invest USD20 billion in developing north and south Azadegan and Yadavaran oil fields which will finally produce 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil.

Speaking to reporters in a visit to the Petropars Company on Sunday, the oil minister said the agreement for developing Azadegan and Yadavaran oil fields has been reached after 10-15 years of negotiations with the Chinese side.

He added that the Chinese side has started its activities by investing USD20 billion dollars in the oil fields.

"So far more than 20 drilling rigs have been installed in Azadegan and Yadavaran oil fields and plans have been made for the daily production of 700,000 bpd of crude oil [when development of both fields is complete],” Qasemi stated.

The minister said contracts have been signed for the development of 12 new oil fields in the past few months, adding, “Development of some fields, including Azar and Changouleh oil fields has also begun.”

Qasemi said necessary measures have been taken for the development of Darkhoein and Mansouri onshore oil fields as well as offshore fields such as Farzad A.

Yadavaran oil field is located in the southwestern Khuzestan Province bordering Iraq. The development project of the oil field is expected to be implemented in three phases. Upon the completion of all phases, some 300,000 barrels of oil are expected to be pumped out on a daily basis.

Azadegan oil field has one of the world’s largest oil deposits, with in-place oil reserves estimated at 42 billion barrels.

Iran holds the world's third-largest proven oil reserves and the second-largest natural gas reserves.

The country's total in-place oil reserves have been estimated at more than 560 billion barrels, with about 140 billion barrels of extractable oil. Moreover, heavy and extra heavy varieties of crude oil account for roughly 70-100 billion barrels of the total reserves.

Very odd. Almost like someone is skewing the ratio so none of it makes sense. Just noticed it this evening. Even though we all have differing points of view, the greens and reds are generally awarded for thought, and the supporting argument. OK, sometimes just because they are funny as hell. The rating made sense. Today nothing does. This is good in a way. It's a pretty tight community when any tinkering is obvious almost right away. Do we throw out someone with a different POV? no, but someone just out to mess things up, I would like to know there is a bouncer around.

"The bomb" is extremely useful.  Such devices are used every single day.  Only a few possessors of such things (e.g. the UK and France) arguably don't have much use for them today.

Down arrows seem to indicate there's only a handful here.  I would imagine the meat trolls are getting spread rather thin these days what with the proliferation of alternate media outlets and the mini-gun article posting here.

A.I. responses really aren't that sophisticated, if you look you can easily spot the bot responses on things like Yayhoo Finance, and that shit doesn't work too well here (e.g. partisan shit gets shouted down pretty fast); and the level of discourse here is almost always too complex for A.I. to do anything but seem wildly out of place.

I wonder how these SOBs are going to explain the hole in their resume's.

Yes toady, I agree with you. I haven't checked the talking heads on this issue yet, but I would expect this Iranian oil investment deal is the "Line in the Sand Moment" for China. They have had it with orders coming from Washington telling them what they can and can not do.

I suspect China has decided that they have heard enough threats, lies and abuse coming out of the  mouth of that neo-con whore MS Clinton. She demands this, she threatens war, she lies, she abuses and plots murder and mayhem around the world. Why would China listen to that slut anymore?

I think Washington is having meetings right now to decide how to handle this new independent China and it's move to invest in and support Iran's oil industry.

All this story needs now is for Russia to stop taking orders from Israel and the US Pentagon and to sell Iran the Anti Aircraft Missile systems it needs to defend it's airspace. So far Russia has met US and Israeli demands that no truely modern mobile AA missile systems be sold to Iran, thus leaving them open to a massive air attack by Israel and NATO.

WIth China supporting Iran's economy via oil investment and purchases Iran would have the money needed to buy systems like S-300 and maybe even ultra modern S-400. In that case the opeing air assualt by NATO will see a loss rate in aircraft that would reduce the air war to no more than a couple of weeks before losses mounted to a point where attacks would have to be limited.

Clearly China has opened a new front, a front that says NATO will no longer dictate China's economic future. They know how bad America's and the EU's fiscal situation is, they are waiting for us to implode!

This move by China may make war inevitable as the Clinton whore says "China and Russia must pay a price." And lastly, I think this move also may mean China and Russia are not going to let NATO conquer Syria as the west is preparing it's air campaign at this very moment according to the war monger slut MS CLinton!

Of course they're marxist/socialist. What planet are you from??  Seems the only people who don't know are the ones who like getting bitch slapped by Obama's state run MSM everyday.

Obama is a third generation commie. His white grandparents made sure their daughter attended the Seattle school with a communist principal. And they introduced litttle Barry to Frank Marshall Davis, a very active lifetime member of the Communist Party USA during the peak of the 1960's cold war. FM Davis would later introduced Barry to Valerie Jarret's Socialist father in Chicago to make the Chicago connection.

Both Obama and Clinton are disciples of marxist Saul Alinsky, Clinton's won't release her college thesis on Alinsky. In college Obama was a member of the campus marxist organization and even snarked to the leader, John Drew, that he wasn't marxist enough!

Sen Obama was the most socialist by voting record of all senators, even beating the admitted socialist Bernie Sanders who was only number 4; Biden was #3, and Kennedy was #2, Obama was numero uno. As president Obama teamed up with Hugo Chavez to back the failed Marxist takeover of Hunduras, our ally. Obama has also ran guns to cartels in Honduras, like he did Mexico, to try to destabilize their Constitutional Republic.

The US elites have now created all the laws necessary to run a Stalinist police state at home, and yes, it is all legal by acts of congress. So why should the average American continue to support a political class who sees us average working people as potential terrorists and enemies of the state? The patriot act and Obama legal signings have given any president the power to kill, arrest, torture, jail and spy on any American they choose.

She is a puppet of Israel, who is not going to take kindly to China signing on as an economic partner of Iran. Clinton says what Israel tells her to, so listen carefully when she responds to this news, it will be the official Israeli line that she will spout!

My thoughts are, War is now coming sooner rather than later. The USA, NATO and Israel will have to strike before China gets too deeeply invested and before Russia changes it's mind and sells ultra modern anti aircraft systems to Iran and sends their own men to operate them. My guess is the war on Iran has just moved up on Obama's "To do list!"

Pakistan, Russia, Iran, China, Khazakstan, Syria.

Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
(Macbeth: Act 4, Scene 1)

A tidbit about reserves, Tyler.

Iran and Iraq have been jacking up their reserves estimates on the basis of spending not a penny in exploration money.  They declare reserves politically and for OPEC quotas.

The technology aspects of reserves do not apply to "in place" numbers.  They apply to recoverable numbers.

So most of these numbers quoted are bogus.  OTOH, behold further evidence that China's domestic oil production is falling.

We have never defeated an Asian force backed by the Chinese....(Korean War, Viet Nam)...and the only Asians we have defeated took the nuclear bomb to do it.

Now....we are way too interdependent to even think about nukes at this point.

If you did not know it now....know it from here on out....we are totally impotent against not only our own home-grown  Banksters but our Chinese overlords as well.

But we did it to ourselves....no one else to blame.  The Left and The Right have kissed that yellow ass for a penny more debt purchases since Nixon and the abolition of the gold standard.

And to think that we have that thick-ankled bitch-with-dick wife of a rapist out there as our finger wagger Secretary of State.

What a cess-pool country we have become as we are the political gene-pool for these fuckers.

there were a lot of things at play during the Korean war, mao was busy with stalin, but he knew, or at least gambled and it paid off, that the US wouldn't risk much in the conflict (that's partly why he called the US a paper tiger)...desperation may force the US to play with a much greater commitment this time. the trick of course will be to think clearly rather than falling victim to hubris, fear or desperation.  wisdom as always will be crucial.

While financing their unprecedented economic growth and investment in Central asia, the Middle East and Africa and fueling the US housing bubble for the past decade through the rabid acquisition of US debt bearing bonds, the Chicoms have also been financing their own strategic encirclement as they subsidise the US/NATO military juggernaut as it runs roughshodup against and through their interests in MENA and Central Asia.(Remember the 35,000 Chinese workers hastily evacuated from Libya last April before the NATO bombing)

Their endemic and inscrutable predilection for allowing their adversaries to expend resources, energy and manpower in deploying apparent political and military strategic advantage is an lasting and important inheritance from the legendary Sun-Tzu whose tactic was to encourage the false assumption and hubris of invulnerabilty in ones opponent while adopting the patient and age old stratagem of orderly retreat until the moment when the exhausted undermined and weakened foe could be effectively dispatched. Apparently that point has arrived.

Remember this too folks. When Mr. Clinton turned the entire NATO air forces loose against tiny Serbia back in the 90's one of the priority targets in Belgrade was the Chinese Embassy which was hit by a cruise missile.

China didn't like it, but it was a clear signal that they better not support Serbia because NATO was calling the shots. It was no accident like NATO claimed, they hit the Chinese Embassy on purpose to show the Chinese "who runs barter town."

Well, it is now many years later and in 2012 the deal is "America no longer runs barter town". China just signaled they now know this!

It's starting Bitchez!

"The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."
