Chinese Protesters Chant "Down With US Imperialists", Attack Car Of US Ambassador In Beijing

Tyler Durden's picture

Anti-Japan protests may have quieted down on the day after the anniversary of Japan's invasion of China (which is not saying much: after disappearing for two weeks, perhaps in some Las Vegas strip club, the Chinese leader-in-waiting Xi Jinping denounced Japan's decision to buy disputed islands "as a farce" on Wednesday and said Tokyo should "rein in its behavior"), but that does not mean anything has been resolved, and the Chinese 1000 boat armada is still supposedly on its way to the Senkakus. Elsewhere, the US foreign department may have to promptly find an anti-Buddhist hate tape made in the US, because otherwise the attack of the US ambassador Gary Locke's car in Beijing may have to be explained using good old fashioned simmering hatred and anti-American sentiment without an actual inflamatory event. LA Times reports: "The car of the U.S. ambassador to China was surrounded by a small group of demonstrators on Tuesday, who damaged the vehicle and briefly prevented it from entering the U.S. Embassy compound in Beijing. A YouTube video of the incident showed the protesters chanting slogans such as “down with the U.S. imperialists” and, in an apparent reference to the Chinese government’s purchase of U.S. government debt, “return the money!

The five-minute video shows a black car approaching the embassy and attempting to turn into the gate. As the demonstrators surrounded the vehicle, several dozen Chinese police and uniformed guards rushed to the scene. Several water bottles were thrown at the car and one man could be seen banging on the hood of the vehicle.

The security forces quickly surrounded the automobile and pushed the demonstrators away from it.

A State Department spokesperson said Ambassador Gary Locke’s car sustained minor damage but the ambassador was unharmed. The spokesperson said the U.S. had “registered our concern” with China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The U.S. Embassy is located near the Japanese Embassy, which has been targeted by thousands of Chinese protesters in recent days voicing complaints over the Japanese government’s move to purchase islands in the East China Sea that are also claimed by China.

Finally, it appears someone gets it:

In an apparent reference to that dispute and the United States’ security treaty with Japan, some of the demonstrators chanted: “The U.S. government is the mastermind.”

Yesterday China already suggested dumping Japanese bonds as retaliation, following our earlier hypothetical of just who is more likely to dump US paper, should America pick the wrong side to support: recall that both China and Japan now hold over $1.1 trillion in US debt. Things are increasingly looking like China may be it, further explaining why the BOJ .

Now if it was CIA backed AQ attacking the American ambassador, as they did in Libya, I'm sure that the MSM would be pounding the "terrorist" meme.

This is fare for political pussies.  First, Chinese citizens don't own guns;  Second, Chinese citizens don't own guns (so there is not too much fear of some Jun Won Hinkrey in the crowd);  Third: There were twice as many security and police as protestors (throwing those deadly empty water bottles);  Fourth: If the Chinese government didn't want this display to happen it would not have.

The car was attacked less than it would have been by some window washing bum.  I'm pretty certain the crooks inside the car chuckled, let out a caviar fart, and continued to sip their double gin while going over the afteroon dispatch.

They are not allowed to happen. They are publicized much. A question to be asked to the free press.

Because, in China, there are a lot of social unrest and demonstrations. They simply do not catch that much attention from the free press.

'Americans' run an extortion of the weak, farming of the poor scheme.

Usually, in dire times, extorters/farmers, to alleviate their unease, shift down the burden to the farmed and extorted, squeezing them even more.
Some extorted/farmed are resilient and can take a lot of pain. Others blow a fuse and lose it.

Apparently, some Chinese are reached the critical mass point and it might be time for the extorters and farmers to be recalled by the duties imposed by extortion and farming, and use what it takes to show the extorted and the farmed where their position in the scheme lies.

Extortion and farming comes with its own set of mandatory behaviours: squashing any attempt to rebel from extorted and farmed belongs to the set.

CHINESE PROTESTERS? Tiananmen Square was a Chinese protest movement, and it was anti government. These are not spontaneous protests, over some remote rocks that Japan actually has a legitimate claim to, they are Chinese government theater assembled by and doing the work of government.

Not one Chinese in a thousand has ever heard of or would care about these "islands" even if they had heard of them. It is all posturing over a region of the East China Sea that has been found to contain oil and gas, maybe a lot of it. Both sides want it and they were actually working toward a shared development of the region, but China knows that Japan actually has a better claim if it comes down to unilateral ownership.

No "protests" happen in China without the government knowing and allowing them to happen, if the government decides the "protest" is not to their liking or is growing out of hand they simply crush it. The idea that there even could be a genuine organic populist movement on foreign policy issues in China is simply ludicrous.  I might add that if you think our media is manipulated (it is) get a load of the Chinese press.  If the people of China were free to protest over some rocks in the sea then that would make them freer than US citizens and I assure you that is not the case.

What this is really about is the inevitable happening, they and we knew China could grow their economy by 10% or more per year for decades because their economy was so small that a 10% increase was roughly the output of Alabama. But, now that their economy is the fourth largest in the world getting double digit returns without a lot of unpleasant side effects is no longer possible, add on a global downturn and an internal RE bubble and you see a negative growth rate for the first time since the Cultural Revolution. That leaves the Chinese powers that be looking to venture outside of China for the first time in centuries for expansion and scapegoats (not just exporting goods to foreigners).

China recently has put a lot of investment into being able to project military power outside of the traditional Chinese geographic sphere, but they still cannot compete with the American power already there and that is what this is really about. China says it is drawing up a plan to possibly dump Japanese bonds, and stop exports of rare earth metals to Japan which would harm the Japanese high tech economy, but it is bluster over very little, they are simply trying to get more chips on the table in a poker game where they know they have not got the winning hand.

An economic attack on Japan would ultimately be viewed as an economic attack on the US and they know it. They might not like being dependent upon the USA but they made that deal with the devil while Nixon was president, to make a bold move now would mean no more US market for all the junk they sell us, in other words death to their export driven mercantilism. Dump those bonds and watch as the US defaults, ends the euro AND dollar, creates a new SDR or Amero that will not be convertible into yuan (or Rubles if Putin takes the side of China), and all of this portends the coming of the next global war. One that we could in theory win but which China cannot, and in reality nobody would win because this time the nuclear arsenals of the world would get used.

On the other hand, I can just about imagine some hook-nosed cartoonish caricature of a Rothschild type sitting in a Swiss alpine bunker redoubt surrounded by fine art and piles of gold rubbing his hands and smiling at how well his plot to wipe out 6 billion useless eaters is going. All the pieces falling into place, the ultimate prepper. Some people think they will be able to survive, some people KNOW they will survive.

You might hurt the USA but then the USA does not have 1.3 billion people to feed.
